Slowriding

I bought the sample set of all the Overose fragrances and this is by far my favourite! It's a rich vanilla with a non-almondy cherry and a hint of jasmine. It is very sweet but I don't really detect any marshmallow. Nor do I really smell the rose or orange blossom. It's warm and yummy, and would be almost edible smelling if not for the jasmine. Something to note - after spraying this on a jumper and then washing it, I could strongly smell ambroxan in the area the perfume had been. I like this, but bear it in mind if ambroxan is a problem note for you. As much as I like it, this won't be a purchase for me. The performance is not good enough to justify the price. It sits close to the skin and does not last well. You would think the ambroxan would amplify the performance, but sadly not.

This was my favorite of the sample set. It's a pretty, soft, sweet, creamy vanilla-jasmine for about one hour and then fades to a smoky amber for the rest of its short life. The opening reminds me of Lush's Tender is the Night, which is one of my favorite scents of all time. I wish that the top notes lingered longer (the rest of this line is linear but this one definitely develops and the top notes dissipate). Way overpriced - lasts about four hours, intimate sillage to skin-scent. Three/four hours is just a generic smoky amber scent, nothing special.

The vanilla, amber, sandalwood and musk are what stand out. Florals and cherry note (which is actually provided by almond) are barely there but together do a metamorphic dance coming in and out of focus to keep it interesting. Sandalwood is exactly the same as in ADP's Manorlo Di Sicilia (which I adore) Same amber vein as Baccarat Rouge but not a dupe. Smooth, creamy, sweet, fun gourmand with just the right amount of sweetness and a light dusting of powder. If your a guy like me who is into gourmands then this will not be too feminine. Deffo a unisex gourmand although it is not marketed as such. Price point is a tad high for the 50ml volume but if you can pick it up at a discount your on a winner. Bottle is ace, chromatic rainbow glass. In summary, if Baccarat Rouge 540 Extract and Acqua Di Parma Mandorlo DI Sicilia had a lovechild, this is it (and that lovechild is androgenous). Edit: Two sprays on my wrist was still sending me strong wafts of the amber 24 hours later. Although it's projection is close, this one sticks like glue! Edit 2: The floral comes through more for me now but not off-putting from a man's standpoint at all. In fact, the jasmine combined with the creaminess gives off a lovely sweet black tea impression which is almost identical to that of Voronoi's Tea Shop EDP.

This is very medicinal to me, not to say it's similar to TF's rose de chine but like TG RdC, I also get a whiff of Asian apothecary pharmacy herbal tinctures. OMG, it's reminding me of the Chan Pui Ying Che dried wrapped plum candy fruit candy. Do I love to eat it, yes. Would I like to wear it as a fragrance, hard no. Get the discovery set.
