Himalayan Patchouli Berry

Edit: This review was written based on an older (3-4 year old) rollerball. I recently bought a bottle and it smelled completely different. Synthetic berry notes similar to blueberry vape juice (gross). I have communicated with some other people who have bought new bottles and they agree it does not smell the same as it used to. I really hope this wasn't reformulated. Oh well, maybe it will smell better as it gets older. Huge bummer, went from being a top 2 favorite to the bottom of the barrel. This is an amazing fragrance, especially considering the low price. The best way that I can describe this scent is divine. It's one of my favorites of all time and I recommend this fragrance to everyone who wants something sultry, enticing, and unique, but not so overwhelming as a lot of classic "oriental" heady floral fragrances are. Pacifica makes several other fragrances in this same line that are "one note" (with names like Tuscan Blood Orange for example), and while the primary note is certainly patchouli it's a very balanced and interesting interpretation of that classic 70's favorite. If heady, cerebral scents like incense, sandalwood, and lavender (and patchouli of course) give you goosebumps and make you feel instantly relaxed, but you want to actually wear a fragrance with a bit more depth and balance, you will probably adore this fragrance. It maintains that classic earthy, heady quality of patchouli, but balances it in a unique way with some other, lighter florals and a touch of sweetness. The result is a unique, sultry, and versatile fragrance that is equal parts feminine and flirty, heady and mysterious. This is great for daytime or nighttime, casual or special occasion wear. I think it's unique because I haven't found too many other fragrances that combine a primary note of patchouli with sweetness and florals; a lot of the time they come off as really spicy or woody, which can be nice but often overwhelming and not for everyone or every situation. If you're a patchouli lover like me, this fragrance is a dream come true. On my skin, the patchouli notes are bold, but complimented very nicely with other, lighter floral. The sweetness rounds the scent out, but doesn't overpower the star of the show. I find it layers well with lighter, mildly sweet and powdery floral scents (like KVD Saint) if you want to add some depth to them. Fragrantica's description of Himalayan Patchouli Berry calls this a "fruity floral," but I'd have to disagree. I pick up on a slight bitter note that balances out the subtle sweet/sugary quality of this fragrance which I guess could be grapefruit, but I would definitely describe this fragrance as an oriental floral (patchouli is a flower after all) and somewhat gourmand - it definitely does not read fruity on my skin, but that's just my experience. Don't be fooled by the price tag! Some perfumes last 2 minutes on me and others last hours, but this one lasts over 12+ on me easily. I put some on at 9PM one night and could still smell it by noon the next day - this is not a cheapy body spray. The fragrance is pretty concentrated too so you don't need to apply more than a couple small sprays or dots with a rollerball - in fact, I think it could become overwhelming pretty quickly. The actual shelf life of this fragrance seems very long as well - I've had the same rollerball for a few years and it smells just as fresh as the day I bought it. I hope Pacifica never changes the formula or stops selling this fragrance. For less than $25 for the bottle and less than $15 for the rollerball, there's really not much better than this - I think I'll wear this fragrance for the rest of my life. I'd totally buy this fragrance as a candle, body lotion, or other scented product if they sold them. Excellent work by Pacifica on this fragrance! Sillage isn't extreme, but I never wear more than a couple dots on my wrists. This scent could easily precede you as you walk into a room if you use more. I find this is a beautiful, romantic and subtly sexy scent without being too "baby prostitute" for date nights and intimate moments, but remains casual enough for everyday wear - I've gotten compliments on this from dates and friends alike. Edit: I tried out Guerlain's La Petit Robe Noire in a sample and was reminded on Pacifica HPB. While HPB wears more consistently, on me LPRN transforms from something so forgettable I don't even remember into a sweet patchouli scent very similar to HPB after an hour or two of wear. While they're similar I vastly prefer HPB: the Pacifica scent smells better, goes on smelling great straight away, and lasts much longer than the Guerlain.

Back when I was looking for a signature perfume after buying most of my fragrances as body mist at Bath & Body Works (which I still have and love), this one crossed my path and I couldn't stop thinking about it even days after initially smelling it and a bunch of other fragrances. It's so deliciously sweet, and as a lover of patchouli mixed with other scents, it wouldn't leave me alone until I went back to try it again. Now here's where things get tricky: spray vs rollerball. I went with the rollerball after trying out the spray. Why? Much as I would love to just spritz it on and go, when I did, the scent started out really nice! Then it got a little weird. But then after a little while longer it got really nice again. Not really sure what the odd note in there is (the grapefruit? It's like a slightly bitter kind of weird), but using the rollerball to apply a smaller amount of fragrance keeps the note from appearing at all. With a little bit applied it stays pleasantly close, a sweet (dare I say ever so slightly incense-like??) patchouli scent that's a nice comfortable pick-me-up during the day. I'd wear it any time of year but colder weather seems to suit this one better to be honest.

I blind ordered this online, which I normally wouldn't do with perfumes, but I love Pacifica! This is by far my favorite perfume I've smelled by them – about 3 months ago, I bought the Wanderlust sampler set. I loved Tuscan Blood Orange, Island Vanilla, and Tahitian Gardenia but I HATED French Lilac (and ended up giving it to my aunt). I find that this perfume has much more longevity than any other Pacifica I've used before, and the smell is perfect. However, other reviews lead me to believe that each batch smells quite different and has pretty different proportions! For me, I don't get that "syrupy blue raspberry" scent that others describe. I do agree that it's sugary but not in a vanilla way but more in a white granular sugar sort of way (if that makes sense?). I do definitely get the patchouli, which I am a big fan of, but I don't find this quite as overwhelming as some other patchoulis. I only get a little geranium, and hardly any grapefruit (although there is another citrussy note that I'm getting, I just don't find it to be very grapefruity). Ultimately this is my favorite perfume I have ever used, and I will definitely be ordering a new bottle the second I run out!

Expensive smelling beautifully blended sweet earthy orb of heaven. Think... cute girl working at a diy soap shop or crystal store I smelled this in target and did a double take. After reading the notes on the box and seeing grapefruit listed, I couldn't believe it. Grapefruit is my least favorite note and trust me its undetectable in this perfume. This fragrance focuses on earthy dusty patchouli and sweet dark rounded berries. It reminds me of kenzo elephant, not in the way it smells, but in the feeling it evokes. There were other select Pacifica fragrances for 50% off but this one was so much of a stand out I had no regrets paying full price (decent price of sub 25$) I am looking forward to trying other Pacifica fragrances, specifically their Lilac perfume. My target didn't have it in stock when I went but I will be on the look out!

I recently got my bottle of Pacifica Himalayan Patchouli Berry (HPB) and I LOVE it. Longevity is very poor, sillage is almost as bad, but the scent and price make up for it. I have been wearing Thierry Mugler Angel edP since 1994 and the dry down of this Pacifica is so similar and I love it. The first few mins of HPB is very sweet and a little juvenile, but it gets softer and yet the patchouli and depth comes out in the dry down. HPB ends up smelling like what Angel smelled like after being on your skin for 12+ hours, albeit HPB takes like 5-10 mins to get to this amazing stage. I do wish HPB lasted longer, but the smell is fantastic. I just have to reapply every hour or so, if I want to smell it.

this is one of my favorite scents of all time, I'm so glad they brought it back!! the patchouli scent is strong, and I like it that way. it's almost a more modern patchouli- cleaner, as pacifica tends to be, but still very earthy. I love the modern hippie style, so it suits me perfectly. when I first bought this back in 2019, my mom told me that I smelled like a lesbian from the 70s. I laughed and kept wearing it. now she wants a bottle of it herself and borrows it every time she visits me. she was so disappointed when she found out it was discontinued, but now i can't wait to surprise her with it for Christmas!

Himalayan Patchouli Berry has been one of my favorite go tos for a couple of years now, and it's the perfume I compare all of my patchoulis to these days. Do I like HPB better? Well then, I don't need it. I find this perfume calming, grounding, centering. It's sweet (not overly so for me), feminine, and I don't really pick out grapefruit, which is good, since it's usually too bitter for me in a perfume. I don't pick out any berries. Like Unearthly Apothecary, I do find a smidge of geranium. I don't find it remotely comparable to any other fragrance.

They brought it back after discontinuing it and could discontinue it again because it's a common marketing tactic. Taking products away after people get attached to it makes people more hysterical to have it back or it wasn't selling well either way I won't be repurchasing because mine lost it's scent notes. Perfume is not suppose to do that unless it's low quality. My husband even liked it and that is a tall order. I don't shop or repurchase from companies that have a high product discontinuation rate or poor quality fragrances.

One of my favorite scents. Like angels flirty, much younger sister. Smells like being a preteen girl relaxing by the pool, soaked in sunscreen, and snacking on sour candy during swim free time. Trying to be like the grown up ladies but she’s just not there yet. I love this is the summer even though it’s very sweet, it pairs well with coconut scented sunscreen. It’s just dirty enough to satisfy my need for patchouli in every fragrance.

Good lord, this is SO beautiful!! I am obsessed with it! Based on the name and the note breakdown I almost didn't buy it because I thought meh, that doesn't sound all that exciting but it IS all that exciting! It's got a bit of a "witches brew" vibe to it which I LOVE, but it's super pretty and easy to wear. I'm off to buy backup bottles because I can't let myself run out of this.

This is a clean & sweet patchouli. I love this scent in the summertime because it has a freshness without being too aquatic. Generally speaking, I prefer gourmands, and this fragrance has enough sweetness for me while still being light enough for warmer weather. It reminds me of a cleaned up Nag Champa scent. I still think you have to enjoy patchouli to like this one, which I do.

Guess I walk around smelling bad from what I've read on here lol. I love this mix. It makes patchouli bearable for me..I normally do not like it..this smells odd and magical to me..like a carnival..imagine funnel cake in one hand..palm reader telling your future in another...I've got a big imagination! Exciting fragrance for me #genx

I just go this one today and I didn't know what to expect. Wow.. this is going to by my go-to winter frag this year. It smells 5xs more expensive then it is. The sweetness is very subtle , and not in-your-face synthetic obvious candy-esque berry like a lot of teeny-bopper berry/patch frags are now.

This has been my everyday perfume for years, and I’m devastated that it’s been discontinued. It comes on strong at first, but fades to a subtle patchouli scent with a delicious sweet berry element. I have yet to find a true dupe for this.

I figured it was virtually impossible for me to dislike HPB because Angel is my very, very favorite fragrance! I was correct 😄 I purchased the body mist because I own Angel, and I just wanted something along those lines, but thinner and less of a commitment for certain situations, or when I'm feeling a little overstimulated. Sometimes it's nice to just use sprays I find, give yourself a break. This isn't that gourmond or thick at all, which I really appreciate. It is however, quite sweet and smells like sugared citrus in the opening. It even stays relatively sugary throughout the wear time, yet without vanilla. I don't smell geranium, I really don't. Geranium is a super distinct, noticeable note that doesn't take a hound dog to find, so I'm easily rating it as nonexistent here. The patch is definitely boho, but the sweetness here keeps it from feeling overly dirty (I actually don't mind dirty patch at all, as long as *my* body is clean). I really am not getting the negative experiences other people seem to with this...but again, I adore Angel and I embrace patchouli fully 🥰🤎 This is really enjoyable, and an excellent bargain. It feels like the very tail end of summer or beginning of fall. Longevity is weird, because it lasts forever as a skin scent, but it only projects at all for the first hour. I'll reiterate though, I'm using the body spray, the perfume is surely better in the performance department.

Wear this when you want to smell like a piece of candy. Memories of my being 7 years old, giggling and running around with blue lips and tongue from a blue raspberry blow pop instantly came to my mind. The patchouli in this is faint, but enough to give this a bit of an earthy note, so it’s a bit like a lollipop that fell in the dirt 😆 I hope that’s not too gross, trust me when I say this scent is just adorable. I would wear this to a summer barbecue or a fun outdoor event but not to a swanky upscale date, office or dinner party. This is such a nice fragrance for preteens, teens and those who are playful and young at heart 🙂

Tried the body and hair mist today at Target and was very impressed. the title makes you think it will be a syrupy berry patchouli scent but it's actually a citrus sweet powdery patchouli scent. Wears very close to the skin, a cozy scent. Impressed with the quality Pacifica offers at such a great price point. I also like seeing unique scent like this be so accessable.

Once the opening sugary sweetness mellows down, Himalayan Patchouli Berry really reminds me of an early Angel EDT flanker... e.g. Angel Sunessence and Angel Aqua Chic. A blend of honey, berry, and patchouli without the vanilla and chocolate notes in the OG Angel. I will carry this around to reapply in the afternoon when I wear Angel

Well I love this one!! Goes on almost entirely a natural patchouli essential oil scent. The sugar and grapefruit are there certainly, and as the fragrance develops, it turns into a wonderful lipstick like aroma. A tad powdery, and slightly sweet. Classy and rich. Reminds me just a bit of Lipstick On by Maison Martin Margiela.

MUST LOVE PATCHOULI. Head shop candied patchouli for summer nights. Tie dye bottled. Reminds me of Imari Elixir if it were layered with patchouli essential oil. Festival-ready but definitely not for the office. An indulgence to be worn for yourself and yourself only.

The patchouli is not super strong in this however it's more of a dusty, powdery, sweet patchouli incense. I can definitely see how this would not agree with some people's chemistry. Luckily, it works for me. Smells much better on my skin rather than my clothes.

This is the strangest Pacifica I've tried. Not terribly on-brand for them, they typically do "tropical" scents. The Fragrantica note breakdown feels like a farce. Geranium? Grapefruit? Lol, where? This smells like an artificial blue raspberry-flavored sucker + the pink cotton candy you buy at the grocery store in a plastic tub. There's a dirt-like undercurrent to it but no herbaceous quality whatsoever. This is a slightly powdery, spun sugar scent with vague fruity touches. The fruity notes, the intense sugary cotton candy aspect, and the dirt come together and somewhat remind me of Angel by Mugler. I can see I'm not the only one who has made that connection. If you like Angel, this is an Angel-lite alternative on a budget. It's pleasantly dense while not being overbearing. It smells more natural than Angel. Worth checking out if you like Angel & other fruit-choulis, it's certainly worth $25.

Dirty sugared berries. This is a lovely fragrance, but it is a little dirtier than I like to wear out. It's very natural in this head shop hippie dirty patchouli way, but also sugared fruit. It does read very youthful to me, although I could imagine someone young not loving the Patchouli. It reminds me of Into The Night a bit, this berries and amber and patchoulis scent. Maybe hibiscus? I might have made that up. It reminds me one tiny hair one tiny bit of BR540. It isn't the same, but there is something that reminds me of it. I realize I own other fragrances very similar to this fragrance already. It is a good fragrance! But I'm not going to repurchase it.

A bit confused as to why "berry" is in the title. I do almost pick up on some berry, even though it's not listed in the pyramid. Weird ... Anyway, a pleasant fruity-chouli. The patchouli is just dirty enough ... a chill, hippy vibe for sure. Performance is not great; would likely need to top it off during the day. This goes in the "revisit" category. I tried it today, along with a few others, so I feel like I didn't give it a fair chance. I do think I like it, but maybe not enough to buy it.

A sweet and gentle patchouli. Love that Pacifica is vegan and uses natural oils.

Look, I don't like most gourmand patchoulis, but Pacifica normally has a very light "natural" presence about their scents so I thought this would be fun to try. If I don't like it, it'll fade in an hour like all Pacifica scents, right? Wrong. This is an incredibly strong, sweet, juvenile gourmand patchouli. It is indeed like Angel.. A simplified, more saccharine Angel. If Angel had a really cutesy, obnoxious teenage sister, she would be Himalayan Patchouli Berry. This stuff lasts about 4-6 hours. I got in the car with my mom after making the mistake of sampling this on my skin at Ulta. It was freezing out but she had to open the windows the whole drive home because it bothered her so much. So I guess you could say it has good projection. All in all, I can see a lot of younger ladies enjoying this but it's probably polarizing.

To me this is mostly sweetness. It smells like it's joining the in-your-face sweet scents like LVEB, and I don't like those. I really don't smell any patchouli. I do notice some spice in the base, so I'm assuming it's "patchouli", but hard to tell for certain. Maybe they didn't want to go the hippie route, which would be fine, but this is too far on the opposite end. Hard to understand why it's called Patchouli. Also, reading their own description about flowers...I don't smell any flowers here. I just don't understand this fragrance I guess. I love layering Pacifica perfumes, so perhaps I will just use it for that purpose. Could be nice with their Persian Rose!

I really despise this fragrance now, and a couple of years ago I actually loved it. Maybe my personal sense of smell has changed, but it no longer smells like sweet, satisfying incense to me anymore. Just smells of dirty sugar, a hint of sour grapefruit, and overbearing patchouli. Not the most complementary notes combined. Definitely headache-inducing and nauseating. I think it's best not to blind buy this one if you're sensitive to patchouli in general. But if you like earthy, incense scents, you'll probably like this one. I'm finally saying farewell to it. I just can't stand it anymore.

I like the concept of this one, but it doesn't work for me. it really is straight up sugared berries and patchouli. it's just not a scent profile I go for. heavy agree that this is a good alternative to angel. I would not say they are dupes, more sisters. and ofc, this is a fraction of the cost. EDIT: I am selling this one within the US! it will be cheap because pacifica is inexpensive. dm me if you're interested :)

Remember those tins of hard fruit flavored candy covered with powdered sugar? I think they were called Cavendish and Harvey? This smells like sticking your nose in one of those tins, but one where someone had recently rubbed all of the candies on armpits covered in Secret "shower fresh" deodorant. Dirty fruit and powdered sugar.

I did not like this at all. I tried it on and found it to be sickly sweet, like rotten berries mixed with something else unpleasant (I guess the patchouli). This was the first time I legit wanted to scrub off a perfume. No thank you!

I tried this on at Ulta today, and I cannot scrub it off fast enough. It smells like Angel gone bad - sickly sweet and greenly rotten.

I am not picky about my fragrances at all (I blind buy all the time and I end up always liking them) however, when I tested this in Target I could not wait to go home and wash this off. It stinks so bad, so bad that I wanted to vomit. Its thick, sticky melted artificial blueberry candy with dirty patchouli.

I strongly dislike this fragrance. I blind bought it because I love patchouli! However I had no idea that it had a geranium note which I have an allergy to. Has this been discontinued? Rate- 1/10

All I get is camphor and then something nauseating. Angel starts out the same but finishes Sexy French Grandpa for me, which I like. But Pacifica is a no.

BLECH Grapefruit really ruins this. Agree about the notes being discordant. Like a bad tribute to Angel.

I guess I’m lucky... either I got a bottle from a particularly good batch or this just works well with my skin for whatever reason. On me, this is sweet. Very sweet, and a great easy to wear patchouli. I love a lot of fragrances with patchouli, when it’s done right (for my taste). It smells much more expensive and sophisticated than it is. Not sickening sweet in any way, more of a sun warmed, lazy, sensual sweet. Fruity but not tart at all. It does not smell the same but it reminds me of Between Us, which is another really nice sweet patchouli. I don’t discriminate, I have very pricey patchouli fragrances that I love and cheapie ones that I feel are just as good (this is one of them!). This is a perfect daytime everyday scent. It is happy and inoffensive, but not boring. Not too fresh, but not cloying or too sweet at all. For me this bears no resemblance to Angel whatsoever, but I was never chosen by The Angel (it smells awful on me, though I can wear Angel Muse just fine). It’s much softer and gentler. This smells like bamboo velour feels: soft, luxurious, sensuous, natural.

I don't write as well as most people here. Lol. But I can say this is one of my favorites. I initially tried it because of the patchouli, however to me it's not a very strong patchouli. It just smells amazing. I don't know how to explain it. It's a very summery scent, it doesn't last as long as I'd like either. Thank God its inexpensive because I can go through a bottle in just over a week if I'm really into the scent at the time. I get a lot of compliments from men when I wear it. Lol

The olfactory equivalent of tossing Stevie Nicks into a pile of pink teddy bears. I love this cute n’ cuddly little fragrance so much that I’ve stockpiled it. There is a wonderful nostalgic quality to it for those of us who were children in the 80s, when patchouli was still worn by the women in our lives and our dolls, scratch n’ sniff stickers, and bath products were berry scented. Himalayan Patchouli Berry smells of a simpler, sweeter time. A pure delight.

On me, this smells like a health food store; all patchouli and sweet grapefruit and possibly lavender. The patchouli lends a slightly powdery note but not enough to repulse me. I really don't care for powder notes, or historically for patchouli notes, but I am really enjoying this. It seems to last as long as the usual Pacifica, which is only a few hours.

I strongly second everything Sanrio said -- this is a juvenile fruit-chouli and an Angel knock off that is perpetually stuck in the seventh grade. For me, toning down the sugar would make it a lot more wearable, but as is, it's just too much of a good (cavity inducing) thing.

it is so powdery and sweet..I don't smell any patchouli at all. It totally reminds me of Chantilly from the 70s when I was a teenager, and I did not like that fragrance at all. In fact I am heading for the shower right now to scrub this off.

This perfume has not been discontinued. It is available on the Pacifica website and on Amazon, I recently bought it. I have had several versions of the Angel perfumes over the years, and this perfume is similar to that.

Am I nuts or does this smell exactly like cherry Chapstick? Lol. I'm not getting much patchouli to be frank, but it does smell sweet and berry-cherry. I'll give it some time to decide how I feel.

It smells like synthetic cherry not grapefruit at all. Like someone else said cherry chapstick or cherry car freshener with patchouli.
