Grand Musk

Pana Dora is such a wonderful discovery for me. After the instant love of Imperial Wood, I figured I'd throw myself off the deep end, because that's just how I am! I'll be forward and honest: musk and I have a love/hate relationship. As much as I can enjoy some white musk or clean "laundry musk" (Initio's Musk Therapy or MFK's 724), whenever real musk or black musk is involved, I turn tail and run the opposite direction. So Grand Musk was a huge gamble for me, given how it features actual deer musk. But I do enjoy a good rose fragrance, so I put my trust in perfumer Ibrahim Al Zoabi and in what I had seen from the brand on the net and from my experience with Imperial Wood. To be frank, the first sprays were... quite challenging. You do get that musk and it doesn't hold back. However, I will say that I surprised myself at not finding it as challenging as some vintage animalic fragrances. This is no Kouros or Antaeus! In this case, I would say that the rose here helps me tremendously. I love rose and this is very rose-forward to my nose. This initial blast of animalic musk starts to calm down quickly, though. 15 minutes in and already all I get is a very floral musk+rose combo with a background of musk but not a dirty musk, a very floral musk. The guaiac wood probably contribute to that oud-like "funk". Although to be honest, as someone who didn't especially think Amouage's King Blue was that much challenging, I'm probably not the best compass when it comes to skanky oud. About the musk, in my exploration, I've gotten a sniff at Zoologist's Musk Deer and this is quite reminiscent of it, a very floral, fruity musk. The fruity I mean here is that there's a certain "tartness" which I pick up when I go in close. Blueberry...? Later on, I get spices as well in Grand Musk, giving it even more of a Middle-Eastern vibe. Anyhow, an hour in, this is incredible. Beautiful, masterfully blended musk+rose, very typical Middle-Eastern vibes which is right up my alley. If you like rosy fragrances in the lines of Frank Olivier's Oud Vanille (I somehow get reminded of that quite a bit, which despite the name is mostly rose) or to a lesser extent, MFK's Oud Satin Mood, you will be right at home here. I wouldn't necessarily say this is "niche". This is a just very well done, typical Middle-Eastern fragrance DNA. Those who do not like Middle-Eastern perfumes (or rose), stray far away, this will challenge you and you probably will not enjoy it. This also lasts forever! The next morning, I still had it on my skin. As expected from the rose/musk combo, this projects like a beast for at least the first 3-4 hours. So be wary, if you take the plunge, you commit to it. It's vain to even try to scrub this one off! So yes, this is most definitely not for everybody. This is challenging especially in the opening and those who don't like Middle-Eastern fragrances should beware. Personally, this is a second homerun for this brand as I'm all the more excited to explore the rest of the line!

Bought this blind and it didn’t disappoint. On me the musk sits close to the skin while the floral/sweetness lifts and creates a pleasant sillage. I sprayed it 3x and went to work, 30min after leaving home my wife texted me and asked which cologne I used with the drool 🤤 emoji. Performance is a solid 7hrs then the sweet floral notes sit closer to the skin with the unwavering musk. I’ve worn it a few times to work and receive consistent compliments. It’s a different kind of scent and I like different. Even though this blind buy worked for me, I wouldn’t suggest it unless you enjoy surprises. Quality materials and perfuming mastery went into this bottle, for the price this is definitely worth the cost.

Genuine Deer musk in the base (per the brand). Fairly complex and rich although floral elements soften it up without smelling like a floral perfum. Lavender and blue berries also soften it up. Rose is there, some animalics are there. The drydown of musk is the crowd jewl and smells amazing. I went through a 5ml and decided I needed a whole bottle. I can't comment on comparisons to Frederic Malle the night or Octavian, but it does remind me a bit of Roja Aoud. ××××××××××××××××××××××××××× Scent 92/100 Performance 85/100 ××××××××××××××××××××××××××× 🫎

My first from the house, oh lord the quality, the blending, the opulence and depth, yes the rumours about how obscenely delicious this perfumer is are true, I immediately purchased Orchestra and SKadi, which are on their way, I blind bought this, and it is a masterpiece, so I'm backing on the other 2 blind buys being the same. I will update this after ive had a week or two wear....

Extremely similar to Electimuss "Octavian". Not sure which came first but they're both rich, gorgeous, long-lasting, phenomenal. They open slightly different from each other but I wouldn't be able to tell you one from the other in the dry down. Worth purchasing as it has the Pana Dora quality, but if you happened to also own "Octavian", likely redundant to have both.

This is one of those perfumes that takes multiple full wears to appreciate its complexity and beauty. The musk in the opening is intense to say the least, but backed with a strong backbone of spices and a yummy sweet earthiness once it’s settled. The dry down is gorgeous. This is astonishing. I can't believe this doesn't have oud listed as it smells 95% like Nebulous from BTV. This starts where Nebulous is after 30-40 mins. Superb, beautiful fragrance. I think it's closer to Nebulous than it is to The Night. Absolutely love it.

Mature and elegant. Similar in profile to The Night but smoother. For the bold. Blossoms in winter and one of my favourite rose-musk-oud fragrances. Shukran Habibi!

It ́s soo soo good! A clean Musk + a heavy dose of Animalic Musk. Rose, Blueberries and Incense comes through alot. So beautifully done. 9,5 / 10

Very interesting perfume. On my skin I mainly get strong woody earthy notes, along the lines of FM Promise (without the apple). Dry with noticeable rose, miniscule fruity notes on my skin. Beast mode performer. Might be a bit headache inducing up close but in the air it is majestic. 8.2/10 in my opinion, bravo Mr. Al Zoabi

This scent is a very interesting one to me, I have quite a hard time describing what this smells like and if i like it or not but this is the run down for me, When i first smelt this it was like "wow this is the exact smell of a new car wtf" Then it almost instantly within 15 seconds switched to a very dominant blueberry smell and it was quite nice tbf. After smelling again a little later on its morphed in to this slightly lavandery fruity musk? Ive never really smelt anything like this however at a family event one of my grandparents said its the exact product of what you would get if u mixed a new car smell and gun oil. Idk what gun oil smells like but sure. huge projection my rating 7.4/10???

Oh this is extremely animalic in the opening. If you don’t like fragrances that have straight out front and center animalic funk then steer clear of this one. I do agree that the opening of this is very similar to Frederic Malle’s The Night, but I think the mid and dry-down are much more tamed here than that in The Night. After about fifteen minutes, the extreme animalic note calms down and rose and other notes come through much more. However, some animalic note still remain, just more in the background. This is not a safe blind buy and is very very niche fragrance targeted for a specific audience. Definitely masculine leaning and not office safe in my opinion.

يحدث أن يتسلل خلسة سحر الطبيعة بغاباتها الغَنّاء وما تحويه من الزهور والأخشاب والنباتات العطرية إلى عبوات العطور الموسومة أغطيتها بقرون حيوان الوعل البري ، لتُحدث طفرة جينية في عطور النيش بتركيباتها الخاصة التي تعمل على الرفع من نسب الزيوت العطرية لتصل إلى ٣٥% من قاعدة العطر ، بما يضمن كثافة عالية و تركيزا جيدا للرائحة . أحمد الله تعالى أن أتيحت لي الفرصة مرة أخرى لتجربة عطرين من دار Panadora وتقاسم تجربتي الخاصة مع هاتين الأيقونتين اللامعتين من المجموعة المكتبية للدار السويدية مع قراء ومتابعي مراجعاتي للعطور في جميع منصاتي الرقمية . بحلول العام ٢٠٢١ أصدر المصمم المخضرم الأخ إبراهيم الزعبي عطرا جديدا أطلق عليه إسم "Grand Musk" في إشادة بأجود أنواع المركبات الطبيعية التي تدخل في صناعة الروائح و الزيوت العطرية ، ألا وهو المسك ... ؛ الذي ينشأ من تضخم إحدى الغدد الكيسية أسفل البُطَيْنِ لدى فصيلٍ من الغزلان ، وفي ذلك قول المتنبي : فإنْ تَفُقِ الأنامَ وأنْتَ مِنهُمْ فإنّ المسكَ بَعضُ دَمِ الغزالِ حيث ينضح إفراز الغدد بسرّة الظٍّباء برائحة قوية ونفّاذة يتم إستخلاصها من الذكور دون الإناث ، طبعاً وفي الوقت الحاضر و لأسباب تتعلق بحماية الأنواع وإحتمال ظهور حساسية مفرطة لدى البعض تم حظر إستخدامه على شكله الطبيعي في معظم العطور . بشكل أو بآخر إستمر الحصول على المسك الحيواني ، إذ وُجد أن جراب المسك عندما يمتلئ يسبب حكّة للغزال مما يدفعه لفرك بطنه على النتوء الصخرية حيث يتم جمع فُضال المسك من على الصخور . يتم إستخدام المسك الصناعي أيضاً كبديل للحيواني ، كما أنه ثمة نبات تفوح بذوره بذات الرائحة يطلق عليه حب المسك "Abelmoschus moschatus" ، والذي يدرج بعد ذلك في ملاحظات الرائحة على أنه بذور الأمبريت . يحاكي المسك في هذا العطر رائحة المسك الطبيعية بدرجات معينة في إنشاء هذا الإتفاق الشمي الموازي لرائحة المسك العضوي ، بما ترمز إليه سدّادة العطر الشبيهة برأس حيوان الأيل البري من مكونات الطبيعة الحية . عند إبتكار Grand Musk ، لم يبخل صانع العطور إبراهيم الزعبي بتوظيف هذه المكونات الحية للطبيعة التي تمزج بين جوهر الحياة البرية والطابع الأوربي المعاصر . فور إيقاعي العطر على ثوبي و بعض المناطق من جسدي وجدتُني أشم رائحة بهارات دافئة قوامها أعواد القرفة وحبوب الكزبرة و الهيل بشكل لا يخطئه أنف ، يكتنف هذه التتبيلة الشرقية عبير الأزهار البرية كالجيرانيوم وزهرة المنغوليا بروائحها البودرية الناعمة . شيئا فشيئا تظهر تدريجيا لمسات من الجلد الدخاني والفروق الخشبية الترابية الدقيقة ، مما ينعطف بالعطر إلى مسار داكن وقاتم ، حيث تُكبَح شيئا ما حلاوته المستبدة التي تفرد بظلالها الوارفة على سائر زمن الإرتداء . يسود طقس العطر شيء من برودة الصقيع . فعلى الرغم من الفروق الدقيقة في درجة حرارته المرصودة بالتأكيد هنا وهناك ، تومض فاكهة توت الأزرق مع عبق الأزهار الصفراء بإشراقة مونثوليّة يفعّل من تغلغلها عبير المسك الأخّاذ الحاضر على مستويين من هرمية العطر وتدرج ملاحظاته . يبدو لي بعد ذلك أن رائحة المسك ليست شفافة بالمعنى الناعم أو البَوْدري ، بل هي رائحة حيوانية من الجلد الحار مع جوانب خشبية ترابية . إن التكوين العطري لعطور Pana Dora Sweden يشبه -كما أسلفت- البيئة الخضراء الرطبة للدول الإسكندنافية ، تلك البيئة التي شكلت مصدر إلهام المصمم ومنبع توجهه الفني والفلسفي .

Forget the notes this is literally ANIMALC MUSK OMG OMG i can’t stand it I tried three times on my skin it doesn’t click with me at all gave me a headache it turns off my stomach, I can’t believe the people complaining about the performance this is beast mood i can smell it even I after I scrubbed it with soap just from one spray, I got 8 bottles from this house this is so hard to tolerate on my skin but it gets a big love from my husband

Tried a sampled and it's very much The Night. As previously been said, it doesn't have the "barnyard" oud note in it, but the rest is pretty much the same. I luckily own The Night but this will be a much more cost effective option when I don't want to use any of my overly priced FM.

Now that to me is a really powerful perfume. Amazing blend, smoky oud with musk... It's not sweet, but its addictive. I can see the similarities with FM The Night. But I like this one better. Ordered a decant to evaluate further

Feels like a hodge podge of floral, woody, powdery, and fruity that seems pretty ambiguous. Not sure that I can tell one thing from the next in this. 5/10

A like not a love, I feel like I've smelt this scent alot when I was young, it does remind me of my grandmother, thats why its an old person scent to me.

In short: it's Electimuss Octavian little less animalic. For men with OO! Longevity 7.5 / 10 Sillage 6.5 / 10
