Patchouli Dust

How do you recognize a master perfumer? A master perfumer wields their art in such a way that it challenges you, it brings you emotions, sometimes good, sometimes bad and sometimes both. The way you tell how skillful perfumer is that a master perfumer not only challenges you, they can win you over, if you're willing to make the effort to go out of your way. That's what happened to me with Patchouli Dust. I've admittedly fallen in love with the house of Pana Dora, with its aesthetic, its unconventional approach and most importantly, the skill of its in-house perfumer, Ibrahim Al Zoubi. When I saw Patchouli Dust, as someone who struggles with patchouli, I was wary and initially not wanting to risk it. Then after 3 incredible perfumes in my shelf and this one only in stock left... I gathered my courage and took the plunge. I wasn't prepared for what I was in store for. At first spray, I was honestly a bit shocked. I expected that dark, rank gothic-ish/hippie patchouli. No, sir! What I got is a vibrant, rosy, green and bright patchouli-heavy opening. That took me for a spin. I didn't hate it, though. That wasn't what I had braced myself for. I kind of... liked it! And then things got weird. Patchouli Dust may be the perfume I have that morphs the most on me. A true chameleon! I don't know if that's what the perfumer had in mind or if my body chemistry plays a role in this, but an hour later, that initial rosy vibe and patchouli-heavy opening started changing. It went smoky and spicy, almost balsamic. Then another hour later, it had completely changed again! This is where Mr. Al Zoubi's Syrian origins shine. The oud came out and a sweet vanillic hint pierced through. In late drydown, this turns into a beautiful, ambery patchouli-oud fragrance, like a more animalic Grand Soir, or Grand Soir with oud and patchouli. Stupidly beautiful. Now, I will admit the opening is my least favorite part of Patchouli Dust but it's grown on me and that drydown is more than worth the price of admission. All in all, a fantastic Middle-Eastern take on patchouli. It lasts pretty long on me, a good 5-8 hours, with 2 hours of great projection. This is pretty heavy though, so more suited for colder Spring, late Fall and Winter. Patchouli Dust stands proudly with my other Pana Dora bottles.

@ManonLamontagne. What, Its no citruses here whatsoever, The crispy zingy you might get from the beginning is def from the Cypress n ́ Artemisia combo. This is also pretty heavy on the dirty Oud and Patchouli n ́also Smoky Vetiver. Some sweetness from Saffron and Vanilla and yes some floral from Rose. Myself I ab LOVE this frag and it shares the nr 3 spot along with XVI of all my bottles of Pana Doras. Dont kill me but it was your opening describing...lively top citrus notes that got me confused. I tot agree on many of your other thoughts this is a versatile frag for even daily wear as I mentioned in my first review also. /kind regs

This is soo Good. Right up my alley! Somehow Boozy Patchouli, Cypress, Smoky Vetiver and more goodies going on in a beautiful blend whit a bit of a dirty Oud base. Big Love! For me this could easily be a daily wear. 9,3 / 10

As a patchouli fan, I was excited to try this. For me it isn't something that floors me. Certainly not something I would pay over $300 for. I will say that I do like it. The name matches at the beginning but the drydown is so smooth. Really, really smooth. Still not paying for it. But, if you have it and hate it, you can send it my way. First from the house. I am interested in trying others. Will be on my radar for the future.

For me this smells quite similar to the other pana doras tbh. This really doesnt jump out however thats probably because its in a crowd of some of the best frags ive tried. I get saffron, obviously patchouli and that pana dora DNA for sure decent. 7/10

Patchouli Dust is a spicy patchouli fragrance. I would even say that to me it is more fresh spicy than patchouli. To my nose the patchouli here are bright and velvety rather than earthy and chocolatey. Nothing wet or moldy. If you are looking for a gothic, earthy, strong patchouli, than this is not it. I would say that this scent leans masculine, but a woman who prefers spicy, not so girly fragrances can ware this also. Performance and sillage are moderate. I think this scent would do really well in cool windy weather rather than hot and humid environment.

This scent is beautiful, but it closely resembles Serenity by Omanluxury, the main difference being the use of nutmeg instead of cumin. Otherwise, the overall experience, the patchouli, smokiness, leather, and sweetness feels nearly identical. Unfortunately, that makes this fragrance lack originality, coming across as a clever imitation of Serenity, which was released a few years before Patchouli Dust.

I'm just not particularly a fan of this one. My mother says it smells like piss but I personally just think that I am not feeling this one that much. I disliked it enough that i threw away the paper i tested it on but i don't outright think it's putrid. I did feel that even the tester was a bit overpriced.

Stinky headache stuff. The saffron is like the one in oud maracuja, way too strong. The bottle is nice, however the juice.... Nah fam. Stinky, animalic, herbal, and musky poo. 👎 I like oud fragrances but this ain’t it.

Patchouli Dust is an earthy, ambery fragrance, with an almost smoky quality to it. Upon wearing the fragrance, I was greeted by its distinctly Middle Eastern style, that are common in may of Pana Doras creations. The fragrance opens up with a with a beautiful blend of mostly rose, saffron and cardamom. In the dry down the fragrance starts to live up to its name where an earthier, woodier and more herbal character starts to show. It's a unisex scent, but it leans more towards the masculine side, and I think it would work well in the fall or winter months. Overall, I was impressed with Patchouli Dust and i think it's one of the best and most interesting fragrances from the Pana Dora brand.

Getting more and more into these bitter solid green scents with the humbleness too. A classy everyday wear. Very glad I've stumbled upon this, unique scent, foresty, get just the right amount of the Saffron and the Taif Rose, Patchouli note's perfect, not too loud, opposed to Straight to Heaven where one gets Patchouli as the main presence. Definitely natural ingredients, very oily on skin. Again, it's cushy dry down season, so I get the firecamp buildup after 5 hours on skin all wrapped up in a warmed up woody vibe, pretty fabulous r there. Will keep trying out on skin for like 2 weeks, definitely a molder like that, very pleased with the purchase.

Patchouli is one of my all time favorite notes and materials. This is a very aromatic patchouli fragrance with the cypress and artemesia. Almost fougere like. Cardamom gives a brighter quality. Interesting mix of notes and find it nice. 8/10
