Perle Rare Gold

Wow this is such a nice, feminine scent. A perfect fragrance for a confident, successful, accomplished woman. I mostly sense vanilla, ylang ylang, cactus flower/hedione , musk and suede notes on me. The incense is very soft and somewhere in the background, there’s just a hint of pepper. It’s very balanced, not too loud, classy. It’s not too close to the skin, just the perfect middle everywhere. I’m very happy I discovered this treasure. Another 2 things I’d like to mention: the packaging of 100ml is very classy with a nice, sturdy ‘piëdestal’ for the bottle. It’s sitting there like a queen. And I feel like a queen wearing this fragrance. Another pleasant point: I think it’s great value for such an amazing perfume.

This is such a lovely, warm, feminine scent. Perfect for colder days as it is so comforting, but definitely can be worn year-round actually. Soft musk and vanilla is what I smell the most. Underneath some amber and suede in the base. It compliments together so well, the incense is veeeery slightly notaceble in the background, preventing the scent from getting 'boring'. I am very suprised it has no reviews yet, it is a honor to write the first :)

Smooth, warm, very feminine, old money style. The fragrance does not impose itself, but it lingers throughout the day gently, so when someone approaches you, it diffuses a delicate scent. If the aroma had a color, it would be a golden beige, with a velvety texture.

My purchase of Perle Rare Gold and this review are prompted by Cierge de Lune by Aedes de Venustas, hence this will also be a comparison of the two. Perle Rare Gold caught my eye because it was voted as most similar to Cierge de Lune. It doesn't state here when Perle Rare Gold was released, but I suspect Cierge de Lune predates it by a few years. It's hard to say if there has been any true intent to replicate CdL, but the note profile, which itself is not super common, certainly would lead one to believe that there might be some inspiration taken from it. Strictly speaking they're not identical, but I would say that they're up to a 90% match. Especially if you consider the overall impression the fragrance leaves, rather than what you would think analyzing them side by side as I am now. Much would also depend on your skin, the temperature etc. Vanilla and suede play a key role in both, which lends them their overall character, but they go in slightly different directions. Perle Rare Gold is much rounder than Cierge de Lune, with a more prominent vanilla and hedione. You get the pink pepper in the opening, but it's a thin transluscent veil that dissipates. What you're left with is a soft floral, leathery vanilla. It's delicate and comforting, very much something that I imagine wearing to bed. Distinclty feminine-leaning in a way that CdL is not. CdL has a more prominent suede, incense and pepper and a more powdery vanilla, and has more of an edge throughout its development. As I really like the scent profile I can't really say that they completely substitute each other due to their differences that to me correspond to different moods and occasions. But their performance is pretty much the same on my skin, even though it's easier to pick up CdL perhaps because of a more prominent suede and incense. They last about the same time. I wouldn't necessarily say that the other is totally redundant if you already have one. But as you can find PRG for about the quarter of the price of CdL these days, I would suggest that it's close enough.
