Nimbis

I have never quite figured out why this fragrance didn't develop a large following. the violet and iris notes are the show in town and they both perform exceptionally well. It is a scent that isn't trying to make a statement as much as it is trying to let you be enveloped by the subtle and masterful blending. It deserves the award it received and I am so happy each time I wear it or even just spritz it on paper. It is unisex but some might think it leans feminine. It lasts long enough to so I can still smell it after 6 hours. Refined and worth a try.

I think the main note should be green, this scent is not powdery at all. Very interesting green stemlike quality to it, definitely metallic, quite ozonic. The violets and iris here are entirely synthetic, they are akin to violets and iris, but also not. This is its own thing. The perfumer synthesized her own accords and it shows. Very hard to describe, but I can definitely see Falling Meteors, Vibrating Violin Strings, Violet Ozone Rays. Emphasis on the violet ozone rays. The perfumer's vision translates quite well here. No leather, no powder, no sulfur/gunpowder. Transparent, high-strung, neon billboards, kitschy retrofuturism, i have no idea. "Dreamy", maybe.

A very nice light violet scent that reminds me of Svensk Skymning. . Falling meteors make it an interesting metaphor. An award winning fragrance and deservedly so in its category.

its so interesting to read others's reviews bc on me this scent reads VERY VERY candied violets, like so so sweet. I would love to get the gunpowder or the leather or any powder but maybe its just my chemistry, ill retry on someone else maybe

My immediate, visceral reaction: “hospice.” I’ve never been in a hospice, so I don’t know where it came from. But to me it evoked an almost violent level of sterility tinged with a distant sadness—maybe sadness is too emotive; maybe bleakness is more the word. To be clear, this is likely in large part a me problem. Iris and violet are two of my favorite notes—I love that iris has a sort of coolness and warmth that coexist, and violet is so classic. But there are also facets of both that I dislike, which I react strongly to: iris can read overly sterile to me in some compositions (Escentric’s Molecule 01 + Iris, with it’s iso E super and iris pallida combo, is a notable example), and violet can be moody and almost petulant. I think that what I got from Nimbis was all the sterility of the iris tinged with some sadness from the violet. So if you’re truly immune to violet’s more wistful qualities and iris’s tendency to be more sterile, and you’re big on iris and violet, this may be for you. But if you’re ambivalent on either of these notes, I might reconsider. Sampling this may have been an unwise decision on my part considering that exact ambivalence, and I think this house has nailed it elsewhere (I love Coyote Mint and Litoralle’s Caramellino).

Smells way more complex than just "iris and violet". Opens up cold and metallic, with a hint of the unbearable funk that Eau de Space smells like floating in the background, but dialed waaaaaaay back to a managable degree where it actually compliments the scent profile, it smells basically like gunpowder. Cold metal and gunpowder is essentially what I'm getting so far which is a pretty great interpretation of a falling meteor I think. Good stuff!

On my skin it starts with an unpleasant glue smell, but that's what you get when you sniff immediately into a perfume :D So the first accord is citrusy, and faintly I do get some iris, but it rather reminds me of a creamy, little bit sweetish ylang-ylang with a hint of the violet (or something similar). It definitely is weak, it's almost completely gone after 2-3 hours, so I would apply it on clothes for better longevity.

I got a sample of this from capsule parfumerie in LA, and I love it!! It's so interesting. It opens with a vegetal green scent and dries into a leathery, almost chalky iris. If you're an iris lover, I'd definitely recommend it. It blends the comforting and familiar with just the right touch of unexpected.
