Eros Fig

Eros Fig is the olfactory equivalent of basking in the warmth of the late summer sun. It’s a warm, earthy scent that instantly transports me to the dog days of summer, where the air is thick with heat and time slows down. There's just something irresistibly unique about this scent. However, this isn’t a perfume you can wear just anywhere or anytime —it demands the perfect occasion. For me, it’s a special scent, reserved for those rare moments when the weather and my mood align perfectly. Otherwise, it can come across as too much, maybe almost inappropriate for certain occasions. When worn at the right moment, though, it’s nothing short of captivating.

So weird how everyone is getting the ick from this–I find it heady, juicy, and delightful, almost overwhelmingly so (in a good way). Absolutely adore the incense, benzoin and sandalwood in this and how they play with the pungent fig and grassy green notes. "Pungent" really is the operative word here. It's summer but when you're sort of sick of summer and want it to be autumn, that lay-in-the-grass-and-eat-a-fig end of August ennui which is just a little sexy. Yaknow? Roll over in that grass and hope someone's reading poetry next to you. I dunno, maybe I'm just the target audience for this, I absolutely love it and can't stop reaching for it.

Despite most reviewers saying that Eros Fig is primarily a green fragrance, I smell the fruit in all its creamy, tart, sour, earthy and sweet glory. The fruit is here as well as the tree, the sap, the breeze. Honestly, I think this is the best fig fragrance I’ve smelt, and I’ve tried a fair few. The sillage is gorgeous. Beautifully done.

Lovely. So complex, green and earthy. I also love L’Artisan but can’t tolerate the fruity sweetness for too long. I prefer the woody dry down found here in the libertine. This is entirely modern and unique. My other favorite fig is Caligna but this is so much more exciting. Love it.

Appears there are not a lot of reviews about this fragrance. A few reviews exist on You Tube, as well as on the Libertine-Fragrance website. Somewhere in my travels, I read about Libertine Eros Fig and decided to sample it, give it a try. I have mixed feelings about fig fragrances, most of which I'm not a fan. I had a lovely dried fig-black currant perfume a while back, which I loved. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the house, or name of that beautifully scented & balanced fig perfume. Additionally, I am not at all a fan of fresh, juicy, ripe, GREEN fig fragrances. I prefer the dried, earthier, muskier fig scents, those that are balanced and blended with a light berry, or floral note...and some woodsy elements to even-out the entire fragrance at dry-down. I'm not a fan of fresh, green, ripe, bright linear scents PERIOD. To me, such scents might be okay as a home fragrance, or candle; however rich green notes are not something I'd care to walk around with all day long. With that said, the Libertine-Fragrance website just about sums this fragrance up. Notes listed are: Citrus, Warm Spices, Black Currant, Green Fig leaf, Dried Fig, Coconut, Sandalwood, Egyptian Rose, Benzoin, Honey, Ambrette seed. On me, this fragrance absolutely opens as a strong, bitter green fragrance, immediately followed by spritzy citrus notes...lemon, or orange, I imagine. In the opening, I also detect a faint smoke scent, which I like a lot. Within a few minutes, a very RIPE, green Mediterranean fig emerges and over time, combines with the opening notes, eventually overtaking the citrus. With the exception of earth (or dirt) & fig, I detect very little else during the dry-down, which occurs within 15-20 minutes upon application. When sniffing deeply, the dry down does have lovely elements of wood and more of a "dried" fig scent. But beyond the wood & fig, I detect few, if any other notes. The opening smokiness and very late dry-down are the best parts of the fragrance for me. The opening & middle notes are not favorites. I find this fragrance a bit harsh until all the notes emerge, combine, balance and settle down on the skin. Citrus, smoke (which sadly, passes quickly), fig and fresh, damp dirt is what this fragrance smells like on me. This fragrance sits close to the skin, silage is very limited. Longevity is fair, IMHO. A nice enough fragrance I suppose for fig lovers and for those who love "earthy" scents. Not something I would ever wear on a regular basis.

I'm typically not a fan of non-citrus fruity scents in my fragrances, but I was ordering a set of four samples and liked the sound of the green notes people were mentioning. While I don't think it's quite for me, I do appreciate how interesting the overall fragrance is. The green scent that people have mentioned is definitely present, and the sweetness from the fig is pleasantly unisex and isn't overly sugary. For some reason I'm reminded of bitter dark chocolate, but only a whiff in passing rather than when I'm smelling my skin or the sample paper directly. I do like the dry down, but I tend to be fond of woody, resinous, and spicy notes in general. I think this is a scent I'd enjoy on someone else, rather than what I'm really looking for in my own fragrance collection, but I'm very glad I tried it. I may use more of the sample I have in the coming weeks to really get a feel for it, but I don't think it's one I'd ever order a full bottle of. If you're a fan of fig scents, definitely refer to the other reviews rather than mine, since this was my first. Overall, it was just a fun experiment outside of my comfort zone rather than a nice fit for my collection.

Normally fig leaf smells like bell peppers to me. Eros Fig is the first fig scent I've tried that didn't. I feel like I can appreciate the fig leaf note for the first time. For the first 30 minutes, this scent is loud. It's strong and it projects, fig leaf and a syrupy sweetness. After 30 minutes the scent starts to whisper in an intoxicating way. I get interesting warm spices with an elusive hint of incense. There's a cleaness that I associate with old fashioned bars of soap, but its very warm and very nice.

Surprised by the low rating because this is a realistic green fig, complete with tree branches and leaves. I spray and I could smell the scent for several hours. I think it’s wonderful but I also need to disclose that I love fig in all its forms. Combined with coconut and sandalwood this does remind me of Premier Figuier Extreme by L'Artisan Parfumeur. I’m really enjoying my sample. Quite stunning.

Smells more like the leaf than the fig to me, and I can't detect any rose or citrus at all, but still a lovely green fragrance with a bit of juiciness to it.

final edit: I loved this when I sampled it, but the full bottle I got is rank. it smells exactly like scented cat litter, piss and all.

Very green and sap like. Not fruity on me, but long lasting. The dry down is woody and complex. Very modern and sophisticated.

Creamy, coconuty fig. It’s nice!

A blast of green, bitter-sweet fig foliage to begin with. The very distinct, dark, sour tartness of black currant is evident. Imagine burying your nose into a handful of green leaves and smushed black currants, dusted with a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg. As the fragrance settles, the leafy greenness doesn't fade, but it's enveloped by smooth, warm honey - as if you just poured straight-from-the-hive, raw honey on your handful of foliage and currants. A whisper of thick, balsamic tree sap peeks through. As time progresses, the fragrance becomes creamy and vintage-soapy, with the obvious sandalwood note, but there's something in there that's a little too screechy and almost indolic that I wish there wasn't. Quite witchy, earthy and untamed, and leans more masculine as it dries down.

Does not fit the name. I was expecting a sensual sweet juicy fig. Instead, I get earthy, licorice-like incense stick. It also has a medicinal undertone. Not a bad fragrance, but not a mass appealing, safe blind buy. It reminds me of those bohemian, new age stores with crystals, incense and tarot cards. It is very very long lasting though. Smell: 6 out of 10 Longevity: 10 out of 10 Unisex For reference, I'm female.

Somehow after the first spray I could only smell bell pepper, which isn't terrible, but just not really the sweet figgy scent I was hoping for. After drying down it got way sweeter, and almost grassy. It almost reminds me of sitting by a lake. Overall not my vibe.

A nice grassy and ripe green fig scent in the opening, that isn't milky or as woody as say a Philosykos or Premier Figuier. It has more in common with Zoologist Elephant I would say but it doesn't have as much of the refinement or lush green aspects that Elephant has because of a rather prominent musky accord that jumps out just a little too much, I suspect this is the ambrette and rose. In fact, the "fig" part doesn't last too long before that ambery soapy rose starts to dominate quite a bit and the scent starts to die off. A pass but it's not a bad fragrance for the time it lasts.

I'll never pass over a fig sample because I'm on a lifelong obsessive quest to see if I can compare all fig fragrances. Eros Fig is...fine. The warm spices and green earthiness slip out a little too soon on me and I'm left with something soapy and a little harsh. I don't get any coconut and I don't even get smoke, which I'd enjoy. Philosykos remains as the GOAF with Debaser as a favorite for creamy fig. Update: I like this a little more than I thought. I now get a juicier fig, similar to AdP Fico d'Amalfi but a little longer lasting. Still doesn't seem close to Debaser.

I don't know about this one, something in it really turns my stomach. The combination of fig, coconut, cinnamon, and woods, sounds so nice but actually it's making me really queasy. The sandalwood is too woody and green, the fig also too ripe and the fig leaf too green, coconut/cinnamon/honey sweetness tipping me over the edge into feeling uncomfortable. It's A LOT. It's a lot as a room spray, too.

Screechy sandalwood, cassis and warm spices with fig stems. It is greener on the test strip. Shocked by their new price point as this is so not worth it. You can buy any other indie perfumer's fig work for much less. Nothing special and kind of a scrubber. This also gave me a crazy skin reaction that thankfully went away within the same day, but it was something really disturbing.

This was an immediate no from me. My first scrubber. I don't know if it's the coconut or what, but it did not work whatsoever with my skin chemistry.

I am a big fan of fig scents and have a fairly sizable collection of them. I seek the fragrances that are oriented more heavily in the sweet fig fruit/nectar/milk direction and not predominantly the green fig leaf and tree bark. So I was excited about the prospects of Eros Fig with its prominent fruit and sweet accords. But it's far more bitter/sour green fig leaf smelling than I anticipated. It's pretty prominent and extends far into the drydown. It competes with the fruity fig, black currant and all of the other sweet and creamy notes - spices, sandalwood, benzoin, honey, coconut to the point I think the "green" accord is more prominent than sweet, particularly in the opening. I am doubtful the fruity accord should be the most prominent one listed. But the sweetness does progressively tame the bitter green through the drydown. And there is a medicinal undertone as someone else wrote. I don't think Eros Fig is that similar to the listed primary comparison, Yesterday's Haze by Imaginary Authors. I sprayed my Yesterday's Haze on card to compare, and it's a woody gourmand, with its fig fruit in a bed of whipped cream, sprinkled with nuts, all on a woody bed. Eros Fig is far more bitter green fig. But Erose Fig is perhaps like a hybrid of the bitter green fig leaf and tree bark Dior Dune and sweet gourmand Yesterday Haze. Or close to it. But since Eros Fig balances the bitter green with the sweetness in the drydown, its probably full bottle worthy for me.

This smells like a ripe and sweet fig to me with elements of the milky sap, branches, and leaves. Absolutely lovely, but projection and longevity on my skin are absolutely abysmal, so I sadly will not be purchasing a full bottle (even with the amazing discount going on right now). This fragrance reminds me of the end-of-summer days I get to grab a ripe fig off my fig bush in the backyard. When I break open the soft, velvety flesh, revealing the deep pink and purple flesh that sparkle sweetly in the sun. Gorgeous but I can only smell it briefly, and then it's gone.

Eros Fig is SO dreamy. Vividly green yet creamy, like milky sap pouring out of dark, shiny leaves. I was worried that blissful ripeness would vanish into powderiness, but the drydown is gorgeous and the greenery holds remarkably strong throughout. One spritz transformed me from grouchy office captive to lounging in the sun under a fig tree like some languid Greek nymph, luxurious yet organic.

I've never been a fig fan, but this scent may make me reconsider that. Or its just an uncommonly good one. Its a green, early fig that's not sweet or cloying like most of the big 90s fig scents were. I ordered their complete sample set and this is one of the tops for me. I can definitely see a full bottle for me. Maybe not a signature scent, but its both interesting and very wearable.

A warm spicy somehow "outdoorsy" scent with a vivid leafy impression as well as the sharp smell of freshly cut grass. The spices work to bring out the fig while the sandalwood adds a calm, woodsy impression. I'm not detecting the Coconut, but I can pick out all the other notes. Soft Silage, Moderate Longevity, great for the fall, and for those who enjoy nature scents.

Opens like Premier Figuier but with a rougher, dirtier, more vintage feel. If I had guessed without knowing the notes, I might have thought that along with the fig there was oak moss, carnation, more prominent rose, and some indolic white floral... It’s not bad but I prefer the more fatty, lactonic Premier Figuier.

so odd, smells like olive brine or something on me, theres a nice undercurrent of fig but thats only when i press my nose against my skin and try to focus on it, otherwise its olives Edit: ive come back to this over and over itd actually really nice and addicting.
