Lucky Days

Like Smoked Bloom, this opens with a bitter spiced orange. Lucky Days is a light citrus, softened further by the delicate floral notes. It is Smoked Bloom's carefree cousin. I imagine handwashing the dishes with artisan orange-scented soap in a cottage kitchen, afternoon sunlight streaming through the open window. This would be a great fragrance to wear to a picnic in the park. The dry down reminds me a little bit of Trix cereal, in the best way. Quite lovely, one of my favourites in the discovery set.

Light, clean, citrusy blast with almost a jasmine note too. Seems like an easy everyday wear.

A shining, green orange fragrance with serious staying power. I can easily detect it on my skin 10 to 12 hours after application, still bitter and bright. This fragrance makes me think of the foliage and young fruits of citrus trees—maybe damaged leaves, broken young branches in sunshine after a hard rain. It never quite loses the sharpness of its opening, petitgrain and orange oils reading as very green. Though there’s a musk component listed, it doesn’t really break through to soften or round things out as much as I would like. Orange flowers and jasmine open things up to give the impression of bloom-laden branches, and the florals last long through the dry down when vetiver and thyme add a grassy, herbal quality. This would be a really nice citrus fragrance for late spring and its sharpness would help it hold up in the heat of midsummer. It would also make for a nice reminder of greenery in the depths of winter too, that snappy, green freshness in direct contrast to biting winter winds.

If you really like orange blossom water, this is a good choice for you. On the dry down, it's basically all I can smell. I like jasmine, but it's kind of overpowered by the orange blossom, at least on me. Caveat: I tried this from a sample I bought 2 years ago, so maybe it just doesn't macerate well?
