Sex & Jasmine

I purchased a sample of this fragrance directly from the house, and I was impressed by the thoughtful presentation. The samples arrived carefully packaged, complete with a handwritten note from the creator and individual scent cards for each fragrance—a true A+ for attention to detail. The scent has a vintage vibe imo, likely due to the ambergris note, while the jasmine shines beautifully. In the current cold weather, the sandalwood and patchouli are more subdued, giving way to a salty, white floral aroma with the slightest hint of green, likely from the geranium. However, when indoors or near a fire, those warmer notes come alive, blending seamlessly with the others. The craftsmanship is evident, with each note harmoniously contributing to the overall experience. After a few hours, the fragrance settles into a salty jasmine dry-down that is absolutely stunning. A beautifully balanced creation, without a doubt. Sex & Jasmine is fantastic. The name and description kind of worried me, but the animalic nuances here only make the fragrance smell vintage. Which is right up my alley! It doesn't read "sex" or "animalic" to me, just sexy and floral and nighttime. Someone has voted that this smells like Agent Provocateur but I actually think it smells closer to L'Agent. It has that similar cozy sexy vibe, sweet and purring, fuzzily sensual and lazy. I don't smell the individual notes, I wouldn't be able to pin this down as a jasmine perfume. It has the floral full-bodied feel that many vintage glam perfumes have, the sparkling jasmine of a vintage Chanel perhaps. I do smells something mineral if I apply a lot, I guess that's the ambergris, but again, it's only noticeable if you really overspray, otherwise all the notes just kind of blend together in this really comfortable way. Stunning.

Intoxicating jasmine with some indoles but not overdone. An accord of what seems like tobacco. Ambergris and vanille which comes out as amber. Animalic notes from ambergris intensify after the first hour and it just gets better. Not ground breaking but this is a beautiful jasmine with just the right amount of other notes to make it shine. A very wearable 'almost' soliflore. *re review. I did not do this scent justice. It has now reached my top 3 favourite jasmine fragrances. The jasmine is very realistic and beautiful. The ambergris gives a very sensual effect and creates a perfect balance. This will be beautiful all year around but the warm weather truly makes it bloom. A slightly oriental floral.

I love this scent! It's mellow, romantic, and supremely relaxing. It's not quite as sexual as the name implies, but is still deeply sensual-- more like a massage from a beau than anything penetrative. There's nothing of the wild, sweaty, midsummer's night rut that I would think of from the name. I actually get more of that from Fin de siècle from this house. I like to take a shower, put on a fluffy robe, and put this on before I go to sleep. It opens with quite powerful, almost animalistic jasmine before it warms into something beautifully demure and slightly powdery. When I wake up in the morning, I can still smell just a trace of warm, woody vanilla. Yum!

Beautiful jasmine fragrance. At first it smells like a green jasmine tea that has been a little bit too infused, with a certain bitterness to it. This disappears in the dry down though, leaving only creamy jasmine with just enough vanilla to give it a hint of sweetness and opulence. The ambre gris gives it a warm, slightly salty and skin-like scent that intensifies after the first hour or so, making it beautifully intoxicating. Nothing groundbreaking but it's very well blended, elegant and sensual. I understand why some people would find it a little too sexy for an everyday perfume, but personally I would wear this anytime.

opens a tinge musty, floral chypre, but slowly becomes warm and a touch salty. impressive longevity, moderate projection. my first from the house, but this definitely inspires me to try the rest. has an erotic nature after 3-4 hours, wearable but mature. Happy to wear this as a man for the salty ambergris and vintage floral aspects, but I could see a white collar cougar or widow putting this on before prowling the town.

Fantastic jasmine and one of my favorite that highlights the flower. Jasmine on its own can be indolic and a bit dirty, but this manages to pull back the old lady vibe and only slightly turn up the sensual aspect. I was putting off wearing this too much because I felt it was a little too dirty for the summer, but I am finding that I can enjoy it year-round. Well done!

Beautifully made, slightly animalic jasmine. Feminine and attractive. It does grab attention and jasmine lovers will appreciate it. By grabbing attention, I don't mean that it's abnoxiously loud, but you get wafts of it and it is opulent. Great offering from an independent perfumer and the composition screams talent. Perfectly named.

This is an ecstatically beautiful jasmine. It reminds me more of tea jasmine than the star jasmine that blooms all over California- this is a rounded, buttery jasmine. With the sandalwood in the base, the effect is of a beautiful incense wafting out of an open window through a tea jasmine bush.

Has there ever been a more perfect moniker? A warm, sultry jasmine with plenty of animalic salty-skin notes. I'm all about slutty florals at the moment, and S&J is one for sure. Wearing it in the office feels a little obscene; this is probably better reserved for more scandalous activities.

The name "Sex and Jasmine" does not come from the composition being very dark and sexy, but because after approximately 20 minutes it starts smelling just like salty, sweaty skin on me. I like this. It's warm, the jasmine is of the Indian incense variety.

opens sharp and bitter. melts into a sensual and almost nutty, warm jasmine on salty skin. hints of sweetness from the vanilla. the drydown really is the beauty here..blended into something abstract and animal that doesn't feel solely jasmine.

This smells like moonlight perfume-a-fied, which makes sense since night blooming jasmine is the main note. It’s luscious, animalic, opulent, creamy and elegant. Extremely sexy!

Sex & Jasmine (30 ml.) Sweaty Jasmine, smell like warm sex. Feel like home.

The first spray is a blast of deep green patchouli and ambergris. That goes away in about 10 min and you’re left with this super beautiful salty vanilla jasmine. Very soft vanilla. The saltiness reminds me of Salt by Ellis Brooklyn, maybe it’s the ambergris bc it borders on aquatic but the jasmine and vanilla keeps it sensual. It’s intoxicating! It’s not a loud scent but to me smells how warm and natural body oils smell coming off the skin. I’m in love and can’t wait to get a full bottle. Revisited 2 years later and I still feel it’s aquatic and soft but the jasmine is leaning more mature. Will finish my sample but no longer full bottle worthy for me.

The first spray makes me angry grrr its so harsh i hate it. but after a couple of minutes when it starts to settle it's sooo yummy yummy yummerssss. Love the play of jasmine and sandalwood, makes me think of.... jasmine and sandalwood! I think they work very well together. Kinda wish it was smokier or more leathery maybe at least a dark wood kinda vibe if it's gonna have sex in the name...maybe needs less patchouli. I was kinda hoping it would be a nice, sensual statement fragrance when I'm out at the clrrrrb. But I think it would be a better daily wear instead...no complaints there :P

Definitely feminine leaning as jasmin usually would be but what other described in not-so-flattering terms (musty attic, old camper van) to me gave it an interesting more masculine raw lusty scent and I mean this in a positive way. Initially 100% jasmine it rather rapidly brings in the musky side with sandalwood as well. A bit concerned about the finish as my other Libertine experience so far turned almost to chlorine on my skin (Sweet Grass). Otherwise a feminine scent with masculine-ish kick.

lust by lush's classier, but boho older sister. but no, really, this one is beautiful in it's own right. on me, it pulls delightfully smoky, the sandalwood, jasmine, and vanilla rounding it out to smell a little incense stick-y. not quality incense, either- the kind you buy for $3 a pack that's always burning in a metaphysical store. i agree with the review below me, its a perfumed jasmine, and sometimes gives me a headache. nonetheless, i love this perfume.

So this is a summer scent. I tried this for the first time in winter and thought "this is the most tame jasmine I've ever smelled". But I recently tried it again in the middle of a hot summer and it blooms gorgeously in the heat. It needs warm skin to bring it alive. It's a warm, delicious, kind of skanky jasmine. Really beautiful. I might need a travel size.

i gave this to my girlfriend to try out, with the initial smell feeling bizarre. super sharp. as it rested on her it felt softer but still aggressive in a way. it unlocked some parallel scent memories of walking past an abercrombie store. made me love it more??

Perhaps furtive teenage sex in dirty places. The open is nice with a burst of jasmine but the patchouli kicks in bringing to mind dank hippy hangouts where incense is burned to cover the mustiness of basements or decades-old campervans. 5 out of 7.

I recently bought a Libertine Fragrance 8-pack sampler because many of the perfume notes intrigued me. I permanently moved to South Florida from Michigan about 1.5 years back, so I want to "lighten up" my usual go-to fragrances. The Libertine Fragrance line seemed hopeful. Sex & Jasmine was in my Libertine Fragrance sampler pack, so I was excited to give it a try. And from my sampler pack, Sex & Jasmine was amongst a few of the most intolerable Libertine fragrances I sampled. Out of the bottle, Sex & Jasmine is the boldest, loudest and (to my nose) most offensive jasmine I have ever sniffed...jasmine jasmine all the way...that's it. I experienced singular, linear, or linear two-note dry downs with nearly ALL the Libertine fragrances. Lacking any of the complexity, richness, or ethereal nature that is Creed JIE, I found Sex & Jasmine almost ugly...like drug-store ugly. And to make matters only worse, on me the dry down was pure indole with a bit of flat jasmine thrown in. Really terribly horrible on my skin. Unfortunately, silage was a bit greater with this fragrance than with other Libertine fragrances. Thankfully as I experienced with all the other samples, longevity was extremely poor. Fragrances are such a personal experience, so please take this review with a "grain-of-salt." However, for me Sex & Jasmine is a throw-away and a VERY strong pass.

I'm afraid I agree with the previous reviewer Uni No Uta. This perfume has way too much dusty, musty sandalwood and patchouli to be ever called Jasmine, let alone Sex. Sandalwood can be creamy and milky, smooth in some perfumes. But here no. Together with "ambergris" creates this strange musty thing, smells like mushrooms in old stale basement. On the other side is something that should be jasmine but is actually lot of sweetness, unbalanced to everything else in this perfume. So on one side there is this very sweet vanilla and some floral notes, and on the other side- I guess to balance it and make unisex- is this dry patch+sandal part. For the life of me I don't get the "sulrty jasmine" or "jasmine bomb" of anything even close. I review the 10 ml oil, so that might be the difference. But still... Sex and jasmine sounded so promissing, so did raving reviews. But this was one expensive failed blind buy.

i did not enjoy this scent at all. it might just be a me thing. i know it’s a nice scent, and i wanted to like it so bad. the jasmine is there, but the patchouli. oh the patchouli. it was so much patchouli that i felt nauseated. i applied it and sat with it for a while, and after 30 mins or so i felt a patchouli headache creeping in. seemingly very long lasting / strong. it took a lot of effort to scrub it off my skin, and i smelled it for the rest of the day even after my scrub. lovely scent if you enjoy patchouli. like, a lot of patchouli. does a wonderful job of making florals feel “dirty” and “stinky” but in a good way. kinda like sweaty nasty animalistic sex on a bed of florals.

The opening...wow ! I absolutely love the jasmine and it does smell very sexy. However...the drydown is very disappointing. On my skin after an hour, it smells like heavy vanilla and patchouli, very sweet, with no depth. I've found this to be a problem of many Paraphrase perfumes actually. I got the discovery set, and a lot of them sort of end up smelling all a bit generic potpourri after a few hours. It's a shame cause the opening is so promising !

Right up front, jasmine and patchouli. Sandalwood and a little ambergris underneath. IMHO, Sex & Jasmine would be oh so beautiful, and SO much sexier, without the buckets of patchouli, because right now it's just stale head shop with a jasmine bush out front.

the smell of sweat-stained pits in a floral dress that's been sitting in a secondhand shop for weeks. there's also a weird tar-like note in the mix that reminds me of my mom's prescription psoriasis balm.

Nothing sexy about this, unless you find stale baseball card chewing gum and your grandma's potpourri bowl sexy.

I adore jasmine, this is unlike any other. The jasmine on me smells like overripe blooms, and that masculine note...it’s as if I was wearing a deep jasmine scent, then he came over...voila, S&J:) I also have the oil roller of this, now discontinued. Laziest scent ever, it will always be in my collection. In the same day- a comment my scent was addictive, then 80+yr old aunt said I smelled soft & comfy. Lol. It sways between velvety & silky. Weather/temp affects it a lot, on me it loves damp/rain/fog/lay around weather. The colder the temps, the warmer it smells. Warm summer night, gets a jungle/lush tone. Highest quality. I’ll be getting a new discovery kit, try the new scents. Love the new look, best rebrand I’ve seen.

i'm a big jasmine girl but this didn't work for me. feels like the creator of this wanted to do a sexy jasmine without trying to mimic the OG sexy jasmine - lush lust, so he replaced the indoles with a dirty musty apartment. to invoke post-sex at a man's place?? yikes. all i smell is jasmine and attic.

Smells like flat Dr Pepper. I don't really get the florals, wish I did!
