Butter Me Up!

Have tested this two or three times because I'm kind of fascinated with it (I'm sorry, I will come back and buy it someday...) but am just now looking at the notes and some of them explain a lot, while some remains abstract. It opens with an unusual metallic vibe, as do all the perfumes I tested in this line, in accordance with their sleek, smokey grey aesthetic. It is spiced, buttery (more in the sense of butter being browned in a pan than a finished batch of cookies) and caramelised, and is also very woody once on skin, in a way that I imagine is quite unisex and what the wearer makes of it, which eventually calms down to a subtle warm bread scent (maybe the barley?). The smell that lingers the next day in the pocket of my bag where I put the test strip is the spicy, caramelised part. If its mission statement is the atmosphere of a bakery, it is one with a modern interior of light wood and exposed metal. A stylish choice for autumn. Edit: I own this now and used it for much of the winter and I noticed something important about it that didn't come through when I had only smelled it as a tester. SAFFRON, LEATHERY SAFFRON. Now I would say that the progression of it goes leathery, smooth, metallic > dark caramel sugar, bourbon > warm bread. Still feels bold, luxurious but not super sweet, and a bit edgier than a daytime cafe/bakery.

Smells like a nice sauna with a pinch of vanilla and cardamom.

Oily perfume, impressive sillage during the first stage, pleasant sound, good interpretation of saffron. In +20C it sounds different from traditional arabic saffron perfumes, as the cardamon brings a light and breeze to this composition. However in +25C dry weather it sounds very close to the traditional eastern interpretation of saffron, you can get similar sounds from in Al Haramain perfumes and similar brands. It is mostly the oily texture of the perfume which makes me doubt, as it may leave traces on the clothes. To my mind, this line is heavily overpriced - you can get 90ml or 100ml flacons of great niche fragrances for this price. Also, I am not a fan of the postcards that Parfum Buro puts in the perfume boxes, which ruin the impression of good compositions (at least in the case of this perfume it is less disturbing than in the other perfumes of the same line, but still it is cheaply done and the image is in conflict with the impression from the rich composition). Wrong marketing.
