Azemour Les Orangers

One of the things I love and admire about Marc-Antoine Corticchiato is that when he says he’s going to give you something, you’re going to get exactly what he says. The brand’s descriptions of the perfumes are also refreshingly simple, straightforward, and well written. With Azemour Les Orangers, the name says it all. A word-play on the ancient Moroccan city of Azemmour, where Corticchiato grew up, with the French amour (love), we see him express his love of the orange groves his parents tended (they are the Les Orangers). AlO grabs you instantly with a perfectly photorealistic note of oranges, but there is so much more besides. These oranges are adorned and showered with the beautiful gifts of lemon, grapefruit, seed spices and peppercorns, and a smooth green galbanum like the leaves and fresh green wood from the branches of the orange trees. It is so wonderfully seamless and not the least bit scratchy, like so many other citrus perfumes in the overburdened market; this opening stands out from the crowd. Superb. Then comes the floral heart, which is just as legible as the opening, and just as gorgeous. Neroli and orange blossom create a floral accord, obviously, but present a fruit-sugar like sweetness that is mouthwatering. It carries the opening statement made by the top notes very well into its next and most logical part of the proof. I’m using mathematical terminology here for a reason: AlO is calculated, deft, accurate as well as precise. Going back to a previous statement, you never have to guess what Corticchiato is going to do, which means a lack of surprise is a factor missing from his compositions, but I honestly don’t care because it’s the way he does it that compels me every time. From a more abstract perspective, this feels like an orange tree in reverse. Start with the fruit, then go to the flowers that are pollinated to make the fruit, and then, one presumes, back to the bare tree itself. Is that what happens? Let’s see. But, with the heart notes in particular, we smell what the AlO name speaks of: love of a home and a big part of that home, the orange groves. It’s in the heart of this perfume, with its delicate but vivid florals, you feel the love. It’s a caress. It’s a peck on the cheek. It’s a hand held. I’m smiling the way I’m sure Corticchiato does when thinking of those orange groves of home. Back to a previous postulation: does AlO go in reverse and the base/skin scent smell like the woods and leaves of orange trees? Well, Corticchiato actually surprises me this time because the final skin scent of AlO does not smell that way. Instead it’s a beautifully gentle evocation of hay and mosses, not woods. Curious, but nonetheless very pleasant. This might be the only misstep with AlO. Let me explain. This would have been an excellent opportunity to relay a citrusy, green and young wood, slightly floral accord that would fit perfectly with the perfume’s mandate as seemingly set by the top and heart. Maybe just trick us with the use of a vetiver material, as an example. But he takes a weird left turn here. One can only presume that was intentional. What started as bracing and swoon-worthy turned to a gentle and distant longing by the fleeting and wispy hay notes. Maybe that’s the point. When reflecting on those much-loved orange groves, the ending emotion is always whimsical and perhaps a bit sad. It’s not the direction I had wished AlO to take, but it’s a very understandable and precise direction in keeping with Corticchiato’s style, and it’s beautiful all the same. Again, in the crowded market of citrus perfumes, Azemour Les Orangers stands out from the rest.

شعبده AZEMOUR LES ORANGERS یکی دیگه از عطرهای خنک خانه ی عطر دـامپایر هست که طبق معمول کیفیت ساخت و بالانس عالی آکوردهای اون؛جای هیچ بحثی نداره.چیزی که بنده رو از بوییدن این کار به وجد آورد؛نگاه دقیق و نکته سنج جناب کورتیشیاتو هست که از این بابت باید تبریک گفت به ایشون و به احترامشون کلاه از سر برداشت! نگاهی به تاپ نوتس عطر؛شروعی شلوغ؛گنگ و پرهیاهو رو به ذهن متبادر میکنه اما این تصوری کاملا اشتباهه و ظرافت و کیفیت در چینش نتها؛از همون شروع بکار عطر شما رو هیجان زده میکنه و شما رایحه ی آشنای پرتغال و ترشی و خنکای لیمو رو حس میکنید.شروعی شفاف و دوست داشتنی که خیلی زود تندی ادویه جات و خصوصا زیره به اونها اضافه میشه! نکته ی بسیار زیبای این اوپنینگ برای من رایحه ی برگ مو هست! برگهای تازه ی مو در فصل بهار رو اگر له کنید و بو بکشید و اگر خام بخورید؛رایحه و طعمی ترش مایل به تلخی دارن با تمی سبز و گیاهی و جناب کورتیشیاتو این رایحه رو استادانه دراوردن در این عطر که مدت کمی بعد از شروع کار؛کاملا حسش میکنم که با ترشی خودش جبهه ی سیتروسی و با سبزی و تلخی خودش جبهه ی اسپایسی رو تقویت میکنه که بسیار زیباست.این تلخی و تندی به مرور قدرت می گیره و با حضور گشنیز که اینجا حالتی خاکی و موهوم و گرفته داره فضا رو غبارآلود میکنن و این فضا با ورود فلفل که اون هم حس و حالی خاکی و نسبتا تند داره؛بستر رو برای حضور قدرتمند جیر آماده میکنن تا فضا رو خاک گرفته و سنگین کنن اما تصور نکنید که همه چیز از دست رفته و طوفان شن اینجا رو درنوردیده!نه! نتهای سیتروسی بیکار ننشستن و با اتصال به شکوفه مرکبات؛فضا رو تلطیف و سرزنده نگه داشتن و اگرچه در حاشیه هستن اما در این طوفان ادویه ای و جیر؛طراوت و نشاط فضا رو حفظ کردن!در این بین نتهای فلورال هم از دور اعلام حضور میکنن اما خیلی دیده نمیشن تا اینکه... تا اینکه بعد از حدود 30دقیقه؛از دل این فضای خاکی-ادویه ای و تا حدودی سیتروسی؛رایحه ی دلنشین و روح نوازی از رز و شمعدانی که حسی شاداب و نسبتا شیرین رو بوجود میارن؛خود نمایی میکنن و چقد زیباست من نمیتونم چیزی بگم جز اینکه فقط باید بو کشید و لذت برد؛لذت برد و بو کشید... این تغییر فضا فوق العادست و فوق العاده تر اینکه تو این لحظه ها هر ازگاهی حس سبز و شیطون برگ مو؛بینیمو قلقلک میده واین بیشتر سرمست و سرحالم میکنه! اما این پایان کار نیست و شعبده بازی مارک آنتونی ادامه داره ... برگ مو از زیر این فضای خاکی و گلی؛دستای سبز و ترش و تلخش که حالا جنبه ی شورمانند گرفتن به خودشون رو به سمت علوفه های خشک و خزه دراز میکنه و کم کم اونها هم دستان این فامیل دور خودشون رو میگیرن و فضایی گیاهی و کمی نمکی؛البته نمکی که مرطوب و خاک آلوده؛ایجاد میکنن.هنوز هم تندی ادویه ها و لطافت گلها رو میشه حس کرد اما قدرت سابق رو ندارن و فضای عطر در این لحظه گیاهی و کمی شور هست برای من که بخاطر آمیزش خزه؛علوفه و برگ مو هست! تا مدتها این رایحه همراه شما خواهد بود و کلی انرژی و سرزندگی به شما هدیه میکنه! جا داره دو نکته رو اینجا عرض کنم: اول اینکه آزمور شهریه در کشور مراکش که در دشتی خشک اما در جوار اقیانوس اطلس واقع شده و جناب کورکشیاتو بخوبی فضای متناقض خشک و دریایی این شهر رو در این عطر به نمایش گذاشتن. دومین نکته بکارگیری استادانه و کاملا طبیعی آکورد برگ درخت انگور در این عطر هست که ایشون استادانه بسیاری از وجوه این برگ جالب و دوست داشتنی رو به تصویر کشیدن که برای من بسیار بسیار تحسین برانگیز و قابل ستایشه.. این عطر موندگاری خوب و پخش بوی قابل قبولی داره و کاری متفاوته.هم آقایون هم خانمها میتونن بپوشنش اما بیشتر مناسب سنین نزدیک 30 و بالاتره... کامنت: م.ع (سایت لوکس بایر (با امکان تست سمپل

Oh Azemour, mon amour, mon grand amour! So much to love. Maybe the classiest, greenest, most aromatic, most refreshing orange scent of them all. It's all very green indeed - the ratio of the aromatics and leaves to the citrus is surprisingly high. And even the more citrussy notes feel somehow greener than they are orange (or lemon-yellow): genuinely sparkling-bitter and verging on peppery-spicy too, just exactly like the foliage of a real orange orchard. Close your eyes, breathe in, and you're in a walled grove in the Mediterranean, surrounded by organically-grown citrus plants, soaking in beautiful sunshine and truly fresh air. SO BEAUTIFUL, SO HANDSOME - for this is also truly unisex, although the almost total lack of sweetness might rule it out for those who need a bit of feminine gentle treatment in the mix. For me, it's just perfect as it is; a nichier, more adventurous, more distinguished iteration of Hermes' classic Concentre d'Orange Vert, only with a great deal more oakmoss and spice, which gives a slightly raspier, more prickly effect overall. Azemour has even more character than the Hermes though; it's the update, the modernised and more individual reboot, with a much more artisanal, crafted feel that's a bit more abrasive and distinctive than Hermes' smooth, conciliatory, all-things-to-all-people act. Parfums d'Empire often find my perfect sweet spot between 'boring' and 'too weird to wear', by making really classy scents which aren't afraid to be different, but are still pleasant enough to enjoy at length, and this is a great example of how to strike that balance. It's so startlingly good that it will stimulate the dullest, most plodding brain on the greyest day. Makes you feel awake and alive and energetic (even if, like me, you're usually a little slothful.) My single, solitary objection is that the burst of orange beauty at first doesn't hang around for longer than 2-3h maximum on my skin, which just ain't long enough for something this gorgeous to last. It never jumps off the skin; projection never gets any wider than arms' length, and sillage is hit-or-miss; you might get some lovely evanescent whiffs on the air, or you might not; it seems mostly a game of heartbreaking chance to me. However, the herbal side sometimes manages to stick to me longer and puff out small whiffs of lovely, nearly-bitter oak moss and cypress for anything up to 4-6h; I think it varies a lot according to ambient heat, skin condition and so on. But whatever the groundwork you lay for it - Azemour will repay the effort and the expense. It's just fantastic.

Marc-Antoine Corticchiato has managed to convince me on several occasions he ́s a wizard at composing perfumes. I don ́t consider it to be an overblown statement, taking into account Mr Corticchiato ́s impressive body of work, notably fragrances like “Cuir Ottoman”, “Ambre Russe”, “Eau de Gloire”, ”Aziyadé”, “Fougere Bengale”, or “Wazamba”, to name just a few. His are complex, well-thought-out perfumes that take their wearer on an olfactory as well as emotional journey. Some journeys resemble a smooth ride while others a dizzying rollercoaster. If I were to make a “best-of” list of Corticchiato ́s fragrances, “Azemour Les Orangers” would undoubtedly feature near the very top of such a list. “Azemour Les Orangers” is an olfactory poem, a poignant tribute to orange groves in the Kingdom of Morocco, where Marc-Antoine Corticchiato was born and grew up. The top of the fragrance is pleasantly citrusy. Instead of being sour, the citrus opening exudes a hint of sweetness, courtesy of an orange-tangerine combination. In the heart, an orange blossom note helps to preserve the delicate sweetness of the scent. Simultaneously, a pinch of salt is added to the composition, thus evoking the aroma of an orange grove by the sea. In the drydown, oak moss emerges and the chypre character of the fragrance becomes unmistakeable. In this reviewer ́s opinion, “Azemour Les Orangers” is the ultimate daydreamers ́ delight. This fragrance makes you want to set out on a journey and experience a crisp spring morning in a Moroccan orange grove for yourself. However, I suspect Mr Corticchiato ́s perfume is a lot better than the real McCoy. Enjoy the ride!

Another mind blowing fragrance from PdE, which is slowly becoming my favorite niche house. Starts with a surprisingly sweet yet boldly tart and green citrus top note like ripping through orange or mandarin peel, which however quickly settles into a surprisingly tender, almost candied sweet orange note. Azemour then does a 180 degree spin, which is where I bet many people will be alienated, considering the name and orange grove theme. It is essentially revealed that this is a spicy oakmoss fougere, a mouthwatering cinnamon cumin spice mix similar to Aziyade (which in turn resembles SL Feminite du Bois) emerges blending in with the candied orange peel. Think of the smell of peering over a pestle and mortar with freshly ground spice powder in it, vivid and intense but 'pulverized' and smooth. Rounding out the base, a massive oakmoss accord and sweet musty green hay, vivid, realistic, like shoving your face into a handful of fresh hay that is still green on the edges. There are definitely floral elements surrounding the whole creation, keeping everything together, but no particular accord comes to mind. The result is somewhere along the lines of a vintage cola, the old school natural formula made out of real ingredients with the sweet citrus and the effervescence of the warm spice, mixing with a large bale of sweet green hay. It is undoubtedly an 'old world' fragrance, green French orange groves meet the spice market of Morocco, unadulterated and pre-1900s. Undoubtedly very old school, bordering vintage, but with a scent this beautiful, who even cares?

This is the most realistic orange zest ever bottled. Take an orange rind, pinch it, and inhale the fine mist before it hits your eye. That’s the opening. ZING! And it’s not even the best part. The juice is just getting started, and it’s got your attention. In my admittedly short trajectory as a fumehead, I’ve come to consider Azemour les Orangers to be a perfect exemplar of the art form. It renders in the most seemingly simple manner the entire edifice of the chypre genre, including its conceits, hidden mechanisms, and magic. At first glance, it’s nothing more than a citrus cologne. But following the initial impression it unveils a message that will carry it forward, unperturbed, for hours. Marc-Antoine Corticchiato has become one of my favorite perfumers through his work for PdE. Here, he’s at his best, showing how to take this inherently ephemeral structure and give it weight and durability. He does it by using materials that are resinous-green (galbanum, cassis) and peppery (black and pink peppercorns, coriander), and allowing the artifice to evolve seamlessly toward a warm, rich chypre drydown that includes subtle animalic facets (the caraway, the suede, the indolic orange blossom), and eventually comes to rest on a bed of naturalistic oakmoss, tobacco, and hay. A gorgeous masculine (it’s marketed as unisex) that I would choose over New York Intense and Habit Rouge any day of the week. My second, all-time most worn fragrance.

As I can see we all so far share our love for this little jewel. No doubts Azemour is well-made and manages to have a retro feel combined with a modern twist. It smells delicious! Looking at my perfume cabinet I seem to have a deep attraction towards African-themed perfumes (Timbuktu, Idole, Wazamba, Ouarzazate, L'air du desert marocain and Chergui...) and this is no exception... As soon as I sprayed it on my wrist I got a yummy orange and pepper whiff that fascinated my senses. Nothing groundbreaking in terms of originality but great quality and well-accomplished you know... it is sometimes hard to find summery notes coalescing and staying and staying and never getting over the top cloying. This lasts a loooooong time like all the Parfums d'Empire I've had (this is something to be mentioned for all of them have outstanding projection and lasting power) But surprisingly it is after some minutes... half an hour perhaps on me... that the heart of the perfume shows all its splendour and musty smells show up. This is where the retro feel invades... all I can think of at this moment is "chypre" and good old perfumes driven to present and made modern by the brilliant hand/nose of Corticchiato. My personal taste is far from oranges and oakmoss and perhaps it would never get to a top ten fragrance contest to me but believe me this is full bottle worthy and one of the very best achieved in its style.

171) All a tree Marc-Antoine Corticchiato likes to work his perfumes in accordance with its own history and memories. He signed this azemour in memory of Azemour orange trees of the Azemmour city in Morocco. He overlappings fine smelling layers like an olfactive mille-feuilles, the bark, pulp, leaves, wood and even almost the roots of the Mediterranean tree. Azemour therefore begins with a burst of citrus in a rather traditional registry, but highly colorful and vibrant: tangerine, orange, grapefruit, lemon, with a pinch of spices that are well placed to give them more depth and personality: coriander ,cumin and pepper. Then a very special little squeaky notes of blackcurrant bud, emerges, coated with an intense honey, and just make this animal dimension, almost disturbing, that personally delights me. In the background, Azemour becomes a intensive re-writed version of the Eau d'Orange Verte with its downy oak moss and lukewarm notes of hay, dry and dense. A good example of Cologne, carved into the rock, and after its while innocent opening freshness, reveals under bark a beautiful and attractive fleshy side. All the creations of Marc-Antoine Corticchiato have a perfect longevity and diffusion, more a very decent price (in Europe).

Azemour Les Orangers is a very interesting citrus scent. The opening scent is orange, a bitter orange, like the entire fruit and the tree it came from! The scent is really refreshing and relaxing to me. I think it's the most natural citrus fragrance I have smelt. As the citrus dissipates, a few spicier notes provide an undercurrent of interest, and then give way to a nice oakmoss dry-down. It dries down rather similar to Eau Sauvage EDT (the classic 1966 and its modern reformulations), which is one of my favorites. This has actually become one of my favorite scents. One downside is that the longevity is not very good. The citrus is fleeting, but you will want to smell it all day, so expect to re-apply one or more times. The oakmoss lasts longer, but without much projection (which is probably OK, as you may not want to project too much oakmoss). And the price is rather expensive - about double the aforementioned Eau Sauvage EDT price per volume. I still want it, though! Edit upon further reflection: After a while, I noticed some rather dominant saltiness in the base. I would say it's got something in the "amber wood" family in here. Those notes put me off a bit. I still find it interesting, but not a favorite at this time.

Parfum d'Empire is very less spoken brand, Truly underrated and under the radar. This brand uses most natural elements in their blend making. I own 6 till now, want to add few more. Below are my favorite list in order. 1. Cuir Ottoman - Slightly powdery Iris, resinous cozy suede amber with new leather 2. Azemour Les Orangers - lighter version of Les Indemodables Chypre Azural. But I enjoy both. 3. Aziyade - unique date syrupy vibe 4. Ambre Russe - Spicy, warm, slightly boozy, at times slightly gourmand and very elegant [ At time this becomes Top 1 and sometimes down to 4 - Its been like aa shuffle game] 5. Immortelle Corse - Initially, I felt what is this non-liner profile. But after let it settle down for 4-5 months. Now it is unfolds its honeyed, spicy, and slightly saline nuances, evoking sun-heated herbs, dry earth with slight sea breezes. 6. Fougere Bengale - Yet I need to understand it. For now, it is darker spices + syrupy sweet. Prominent Papery Tea and mint, Ginger and Patchouli play a hide and seek. Better to sample before buying full bottle. Awaiting to hands-on un bel amour d'été.

Beside the perspiring oranges of a hot July day in a clay bowl, I sit there, indolent, watching the condensation slide along the surface, then fall, drop by drop, and I ponder my bandwidth for any semblance of physical activity. It is so hot, the evergreens outside my window exhale their own beautifully ambivalent aromas in the thick air. On the radio, Dan Fogelberg's "Make Love Stay" plays, with its languid sax solo, then Wings' "With a Little Luck." The kitchen is decorated with bright bakelite items and the distant smoke of Dad's Chesterfields is detected. "There is no end to what we can do together...." The dog days of summer are penetrating me now. Azemour Les Oranger sends its citruses to a more unkempt, human place. It feels sweet, zesty, then rough-rindy, humid and on the verge of brutish. It straddles between the stoic and the vulnerable. It isn't just the tangerines that are ripe here. Bodies are ripe, emotions are ripe. The succor of this scent is in its refusal to be an antiseptic fantasy. It doesn't just sit on the skin—it makes love to it.

A. O. I feel more like aromatic citrus than a typical cyprus. Classic citrus opening, with an orange and sweet tangerine combo that turns out to be the most natural and charming. Evolves towards a landscaped neroli heart with orange blossom that further enhances the evolution. The suede background, sweet and comfortable to wear so typical of other fragrances of the house makes it predictable but at the same time, it is still exquisite. Also during the drying the woody side of cypress is appreciated very well that combined with my beloved oak moss transports you to the depths of a forest with a complex and deep aroma. Totally unisex, with very good duration and moderate projection, at times subtle, it makes it ideal for daytime use. I like to use it on sunny days and typical spring fresh airs as it gives me the feeling of sitting in a typical Andalusian patio surrounded by flowers, orange trees and a fountain of water that splashes, resulting to be the most evocative and comforting. Rating: 9

I got this one blind. Not very smart, I know, but "Les Oranges" and "Chypre" was all it took. When I sniffed it first I was so disappointed I wanted to cry...It smelled like someone forgot couple of oranges in the old grandma closet. But...I was wrong. I should learn by now to appreciate the complex, well made fragrances and give them time to breathe and enchant. And enchant this one did: It opens with the most delicious, yummy oranges, that you just want to eat it, but then Azemour develops into a classy chypre--dusty and subdued. That was the part that put me off initially, but now when I gave it time it turned into a very sophisticated orangy oakmoss. This one is definitely unique and not your run of the mill orange. Very versatile as well: classy suaree of starving artists, or weekend in Florida, or taking trash out in your pajamas, Azemour will be appropriate either way. I am now very happy with my blind buy.

This is one of my favorites! If you were to ask me if I cared for each of the notes individually, I would be pretty hohumm. Save for maybe oak moss which is unfortunately is very difficult to pull off in a fragrance for a woman without smelling like an old bag or a dirty hippy. Together, however, is the prefect balance of sweet, earthy, flirty, and elegant. Something about the woody notes and orange flower make this otherwise earthy scent very classy and elegant. The fresh orange scents give it some spunk and keep it from smelling like an old book. It reminds me of the very best orange and cedar incense before it's burned. The kind that you buy for the scent lingering to the incense stick and are disappointed when you burn it because the lovely ambrosia turns to smoke. It lasts pretty well. It'll get you to afternoon tea or coffee, but not to happy hour. Plan accordingly and bring the bottle with you.

A gorgoeus citric freshie. I don't really get the "orange" part: I can only smell lemon-like and green citrus which is good and it also lasts for some hours. (The "green orange" is definitely there in the Hermès' Eau d'Orange Verte EDC's, but I don't smell it here.) Maybe there is also neroli and hay or whatever it is, lightly grey-green. Very nice thing overall. Music: Purl - amneran. Edit: after finishing my sample I realised that there is something a bit more than greenness and lemon that reminds me Eau d'Orange Verte. It is confusing in both cases because the taste of orange is something else entirely so I don't understand what's the real connection. But smells good in both cases.

Azemour les Orangers opens with dry green citrus, and soon becomes a brilliant, juicy mandarin orange. It sits close to the skin, but boy does it sparkle. Within a few minutes it descends into oakmossy depths, with a slight cooled-sweat summer-shade feeling and a lingering zing of orange peel. There's also a dark-green, shiny citrus leaf, blending into the shady oakmoss. This is the same Mediterranean sun-and-shade feeling as Ô de Lancôme and other chypre-cologne hybrids like Francesca Bianchi Etruscan Water, except it's much more vividly and distinctly Orange! and therefore even better in my book.

I'm so happy there are brands like Parfum d'Empire that still make fragrances with a more classical approach. This is a citrus done right, with a beatiful development top to bottom. No part of Azemour is done in a hasty way and I happen to adore each stage. Starting from the orchestral yet bright opening with that joyful champagne-like fizziness, down to the base that's mossy and ever so slightly animalic (I could swear I can detect some civet). Whenever I put it on it's an "OK, my life's good" moment and not that many perfumes work this sort of magic. Brilliant, fancy footwork, Mr Corticchiato!

Tart, green, bitter and juicy, this is a mouthwatering orange fragrance! The powdery sweet undertones make Azemour les Orangers friendly enough to wear, but otherwise it is not for the faint of heart. More about the bitter rind of a slightly green, unripe orange than about a glass of sweet Orangina. Petitgrain bigarade and green, mossy notes give this fragrance a vintage vibe. Dior Eau Fresh (by the legenday Edmond Roudnitska) comes to mind.....and that’s a good thing!!!! Of course perfect for summer, but a few spritzes on a dark winter morning will feel like a holiday. A very accomplished citrus chypre, awarded five stars by Luca Turin The opening presents a green mandarin peel note with an immediate sense of familiarity and ease. Smelled in summer, it brings a calm, reassuring feeling and easily evokes the image of picking oranges in a citrus grove. This mandarin facet lasts remarkably long; applied to skin in the morning, it remains perceptible well into the afternoon. The drydown settles into a relatively fresh chypre base, where oakmoss gives a damp, green impression, with a subtle saline nuance emerging in the background

One of my favorite citrus/chypre frags. As others have mentioned, this smells exactly like peeling a fresh orange. Longevity is kinda poor at about 2-3 hours, so will require some reapplication. I find that longevity is much better under clothes than on exposed skin, and also leads to better retention of a citrusy/orange composition vs. the citrus quickly dissipating and the scent turning into a mossy/soapy mess on exposed skin. I also detected more of the spice, especially the coriander on exposed skin. Leans masculine. Decently priced on discount sites.

This is citrus-themed but in a new way, not astringent or antiseptic in the usual way citrus is presented (splish! splash! tingle!) its warm, mellow, soft and rich. You can smell warm dust in the air, waxy leaves of orange trees, a salty, tangy dry wind... Im getting flashbacks of climbing trees in the Moroccan sunshine even though I've never set foot in Africa. Parfum d'Empire is the best perfume company out there by far, each one of their works are treasures and this is definitely one of the best.

Parfum d’empire Azemour Les Orangers (2011) - citrus skin - #marcantoinecorticchiato ‘s creation starts with a zesty yet spicy accord: Orange, Tangerines, Lemons, Coriander, Pepper. The citrus/spice are dominant across the perfume with an excellent transition and support from white florals, Geranium, Rose that give body. I also enjoy this animalic skin accord that is a cross between leather and salty skin. Drydown is an oakmoss, piney, and hay-like. Old-school perfumery done well for modern tastes.

The most realistic orange scent I have ever smelled. It is nice in cold weather but it truly, seriously and generously shines when used in the heat. I am not into citrusy scents, I only have LV (imag..) for citrus profile and my next buy will be Azemour and I don't think I need any other citruses. What a lovely sweet but zesty citrus fragrance. You can almost taste the fruit. Yes, its that good. The cypress and oak moss really work beautifully with citrus. I smell the empire ubiquitous hay note. The hay note seems to work well here providing the fragrance with more body. There are lots of notes in this and they successfully produce a citrus fragrance with good longevity. A rare beast indeed. A good solid unisex fresh zesty citrus fragrance.

This is really good. I see why people picked it similar to Chypre Azural as they both have a really amazing orange opening, very realistic and delicious. I much prefer this after that stage though as I think Azural was a bit one note but this one evolves more imho into a great chypre cologne mix than that one did, despite the name. A really well done blend that smells like class. It feels like the sort of fragrance Floris would make, but better.

this stuff is by far my fave Pd'E and among my absolute top orange frags and even a solid chypre. i love the dichotomy of juicy & dusty at the same time! many aspects of orange are present, including a convincingly sharp and badass petitgrain that sits beautifully with the slowly developed woody notes toward the end. the green comes from Corticchiato's herbal wizardry and he has produced somethong creative and so wearable. kudos

This opens with a dazzling burst of citrus and orange, accented by a touch of green; that opening alone merits an excellent note. The citrus top note seems to last a bit more compared to similar fragrances. Way more "edgy" / powerful compared to Les Indémodables Chypre Azural while still maintaining a classic, vintage vibe and still being French, after all. I prefer Azémour a thousand times.

A great chypre featuring citrus and vetiver. Oakmoss and henna supports the dark, earthy aspect of vetiver root, whereas neroli and other flowers highlights its soapy side, galbanum does the bitter tar-like side. Rusty cypress appears when the skin is exposed to humidity, and this makes Azemour les Orangers better for rainy days. Classic masterpiece.

Admittedly Azemour does not last long, but for the time it does it is rather magical. Bright, vivid, and mossy at the same time, this is such an evocative composition. It manages to be fiercely uplifting with just a touch of melancholy, which is so charming and imaginative. Reminds me of summers in Spain roaming around old castles.

When I think of this as a classic chypre and pick out the notes, oak moss and caraway especially, I don't like this. When I think of an orange tree in a park, I find this pleasing, impressively realistic, and evocative. This may be the fragrance that opens the door to chypres for me.

Comparing this to les indemodables chypre azural, I would say yes & no in terms of similarities, sure the opening is more or less the same, but the dry down is kinda moving on its own direction. I would say this is a classic citrus aromatics fragrance with a modern nuances.

Amazing quality from an amazing house. Much recommended for 30+ men who like dirty-ish citrus. Super refined and worth every penny. Don't buy this if you like the new trendy perfumes "bro it's nuclear, chicks dig yo"

Lovely, uplifting, natural smelling bitter oranges: fruit, leaves and branches. Like the Armani Privee Oranger Alhambra, but with more "oiliness" and a greater depth. Very wearable, and ideal as we move into spring.

A beautiful orange-based fragrance which smells classy and luxurious. Not sure if that varies batch to batch, but mine also has a lot of cumin note. Yet it does not annoy me at all, like others. Very niche quality!

Hay-ey, mossy base à la Corsica Furiosa (minus the honey sweetness) introduced by a cadre of oranges with a Antaeus-like leathery aspect in the background. I like it. Leans masculine. Good work, Corticchiato.

This is now my favourite ever citrus. To combine orange with galbanum and oakmoss in this exact way, an echo of Vent Vert, is genius. Beautiful, accomplished, high quality, very pleasurable to wear. 10/10 xx

Azemour Les Orangers is lovely, zesty, refreshing, but quite complex fragrance. I feel a lot of oak moss, galbanum, some cassis and neroli and mostly non-descript citruses. Similar to Sisley's compositions.

Please correct the name of the perfume : "Azemour les Orangers" not "Oranges". There is a difference between the fruit and the tree, which supposes using orange blossoms or Neroli.

Very nice citrusy green scent in the ballpark of Bigarade concentrée and JCE style. You need to be at ease with the Ellena spice touch to enjoy it. One of the best in this genre.

One of the endgame orange fragrances imo. Similar, but still different, to Les Indemodables Chypre Azural.

A hidden garden in Morocco... one of the best orange smells ever

Azemour Les Orangers is a citrus-led chypre, classic in structure and good-quality throughout. Green and aromatic, it features a plethora of notes, but is cohesive and predictable in its progression. I love this particular scent profile in hot weather - a chypre base rounds out a citrus freshie to perfection, making for a seamless progression from citruses and green notes while adding body and a luxurious quality. While ALO is nothing particularly groundbreaking, it is a lovely example of this scent profile. ALO opens with a bright, zesty citrus accord. I get mostly orange, followed by a hint of grapefruit. There is a lovely green undertone that complements the citruses to perfection. Hazy galbanum gives it a high-quality, vintage-style greenness initially, and it becomes damp and herbal as it progresses. There is peppery spice throughout, keeping things aromatic, and complementing the citrus nicely. As it develops, neroli emerges, a predictable development from the orange-led citrus opening. The greenness persists, becoming more woody as it progresses. Soft, powdery rose is evident in the background, and the spices remain, soft and peppery, complementing the other notes to perfection. The leather note becomes quite prominent, and is smooth and polished, like an expensive handbag. It fits in seamlessly, paving the way to the chypre base. As it dries down, the chypre base develops, mossy and woody alongsde the smooth, realistic leather note. It eventually fades to a mossy, musky skin scent. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A perfectly unisex, high-quality spring/summer citrus-chypre, ALO is satisfying throughout - refreshing and restorative not to mention effortlessly elegant. 4/5.

Garden of Orange/Citrus I'm a loss of words...nothing bad nothing great to say about ALO...It is a fresh, orangey/citrus, bright composition...easy going and great for daytime wear during summer or hot weather. It is better than the average fresh/citrusy eau de cologne type of composition that every perfume house seems compelled to have in their line up. I'm greeted with an array of orange notes (fruit and flower), neroli, cypress, and pinch of rose (but not rosy, if you can understand it...just a soft rose without making the composition rosy)...I also get a plum accord (I understand there is no plum scent per se... there is a sweetness in ALO that smells plummy). I can see the Italian influence here...the kind of composition I would wear under a hot Sicilian sun in the middle of summer...it is a nice fragrance...but nothing special...nothing that would make me set money aside to hurry and buy it over others in this category...I'd say ALO is "nice" like that "nice" boy/girl who is good looking but lacks the spirit/character/energy to cross the boyfriend/girlfriend line... Though unisex, I think it may be more interesting and appealing to girls. ALO smells natural and the quality of the oils seems to be very good based on the silage and duration I get from ALO (above average on both). I give it a 5/10 I don't love it but I don't dislike it. I just find it uninterestingly. I'm sure it will find its followers. I'll keep my money for something more interesting to come along in this summer/hot weather fragrance category.

I normally don't like chypres, but this is an exception. It's beautiful. If you don't like oakmoss or vintage-leaning fragrances, this might not be for you. However, it does maintain a good balance between modern- and vintage. After all, this perfume was not composed in the 18th century, but in 2011. The Mediterranean freshness is what sets it apart from becoming too dusty or vintage, and the subtle clementine-sweetness lends a modern quality, subtly sweet-spicy citrus with water colour-texture. The quality of the composition is convincing. It clearly shares the same materials with Acqua di Scandola . It's difficult to decide which one I like better. They are both clearly two house-favourites for me. Fail-safe, and mature. Has a little soft spiciness, from the coriander and the pepper, which is nice, and makes it lean masculine (along with the oakmoss and galbanum). The bitterness of the oakmoss is perfectly paired with the sweetness of the clementine. This bitter-sweet balance is very successful. Performance is neither outstanding nor feeble. This type of composition shouldn't be overwhelming in terms of performance, it should remain light and elegant, which it does perfectly well.

Another strange concoction from Parfum D'Empire! This is a very bitter citrus scent -- orange rind with a big dose of woody greens and powdery spices. It's unexpected and hard to describe. Dry, not juicy, but I think that gives it some staying power. Really wet, juicy citrus scents seem to fade fast, all top-notes puffing away in a single burst. This lingers for hours and hours on my skin. Seven hours in and I'm still getting little hints of it on each inhale. It doesn't seem to radiate very far -- I'd pin it at moderate to low sillage. Definitely work-safe. I would NOT recommend blind-buying this, but if you want a different citrus scent for the warmer months, you might want to try a sample. I didn't like it at all when I first tested it back in October, November... but we've had a spate of record high temperatures this February, and I've found that this fragrance performs much better when it's warm enough to open up and bloom on your skin. 7/10

This is gorgeous. A realistic, natural green and earthy citrus. It is not a citrus-only fragrance. The citrus accords share the spotlight with aromatics, spices and a thick mossy and green base. It gets greener and greener from opening to mid to dry down. There is also a definite human skin/musky quality ... almost like a welcomed BO. Not an off-putting cumin BO, but a romantic partner skin accord - it is the coriander. It smells like your lover coming into the house, skin glistening with sweat, after working in the garden and carrying a straw basket filled with a variety of different types of oranges and lemons they picked for you. If it reminds me of anything, it is Bigarade Concentree by Frederic Malle, or perhaps slightly of a more casual Terre D'Hermes. It definitely follows that Jean-Claude Ellena bitter, earthy, citrus peel style. 8.5/10 and a Fragrantica score of 4.25 from me.

This fragrance has received very positive feedback from the fragrance community. The inspiration for this fragrance is the landscape scene inspired by an orange grove in Azemmour, Morocco, where Marc-Antoine was born. The scenery and the notes used in this fragrance remind me of the city I grew up. So I like this fragrance a lot. The signature of the Parfum d'Empire house is aromatic and green accords which are presented here. Like many other fragrances from this house, this gives it the vibe of a rural area and village, rather than the modern shiny downtown of big cities. The fragrance has a nice narrative on your skin and there is a dance of notes on the skin, starting with slightly sweet, fresh orange and citrus accord and then a playful presence of spicy notes and floral notes. This is a very interesting fragrance in this regard. 9/10

I have had a full bottle of Azemour for two years, which I bought after I tested it and loved it. I had forgotten it in the back of my shelf until I decided to crack it open a month ago. Then...heaven. I almost haven't worn any other perfume since. I wear it every weekday morning. It's orangey bright, fresh bitter and spicy, then turns to dusty and mossy. A fresh chypre basically.It made me remember how much I love the combination of citrus and moss. I find it perfect for autumn, but I think it works for any season, as the spices give it some warmth. Longevity is good, sillage probaby low - so it's office appropriate. In fact, it's quite austere, so I haven't worn it on weekends or going out in the evening. Having said that, at the moment Azemour for me is joy in a bottle. will probably be wearing it for many months to come.

I was really looking forward to finally smelling Azemour, but I have to say that it's not quite what I imagined. Based on the ingredients and the reviews I was expecting something much brighter, citrusy, and lighter take on orange foliage. But when sprayed on me I get something much darker, bitter, and quite masculine herbal spiciness. It might be the season that is affecting the scent, since I am trying this in December. I'm not sure if I can really feel myself in this scent, it feels way too masculine - I will try my luck again how it is different in warmer climate. I'm actually reminded of Acqua di Parma colognes that I love for their looks but never feel so comfortable in their scents applied on myself.

The top is like putting the nose on a freshly cut orange. Then it drydowns into a mossy neroli base with spicy-leathery undertones, not without evoking Eau de Gloire, from the same house (which itself derives of Hermes Bel-Ami), and obviously the more recent Eau de Gloire Cologne (which I question the reason to be at this point, since Azemours does pretty much the same job with a more interesting opening... but ok). While the top is unique (for its photorealistic accomplishment, more so than originality), the base is perfectly executed but already-smelt-before. Still, if I didn't already own the original EdG, I would probably have opted for Azemours, which I prefer.
