Hyouge

After comparing with Imperial Tea by Kilian, I find this to be a purer tea scent, which is what I've been searching for a long time, yet I miss the heavy jasmine somehow—coming from a Chinese background, while I love matcha, I've grown to prefer oolong & jasmine green tea. This fragrance is actually more like sencha or the lesser (instant) iced matcha—not bitter and less full-bodied. With that said, it's still the truest representation of green tea along with Kilian, in which many houses have attempted and failed (Jo Malone's Rare Teas came close). The scent is fresh (almost aquatic), green (almost grassy), and crisp with soft floral tones and powderiness; the most prominent notes besides the obvious one is violet, sage, and jasmine (in order).

In a pleasant morning, I went to Satori's salon. The perfumer showed me Oribe and said it is her favorite work. This perfume expresses the serenity of her morning tea time. it is so crisp and fresh like a glimmer of graceful light in the morning. I fell in love with it when first smelling . I used to tried some tea fragrances, but they are often too citrusy, or like iced tea. Oribe smells just like Matcha! there are some bitter green and slight sweetness. Its traditional Japanese style is different from Chinese green tea. Really distinctive.

Gorgeous, natural green tea scent that accurately replicates the feel of tranquility. I also pick up a citrus note (which might be the Jasmin indoles) along with the listed florals in the opening. Good performance for this persistent, soft perfume, working perfectly in the warmer months as it’s not going to knock anyone out. Top shelf ingredients and mixed with precision, I love this style of Japanese perfume which tend to be lighter than their western counterparts. My bottle was part of the original release, with “Oribe” on the label.

This is a very beautiful but subtle and linear scent. It's great for a daily day-time wear. It's definitely work-safe. This straight up smells like a brewed cup of jasmine green tea. If you are looking for a refreshing photorealistic green tea scent, this is the one. It's not sweet, not sour, just simple, elegant, and unisex. All the Satori perfumes are wonderful, but Hyouge is the best!

Got this from a visit to their salon on my last trip. I can't believe my nose that i finally find it.. a true green tea scent. Not a kind of green tea fragrance interpreted by other house before. It's refreshing in a calming way.. the iris, violet,patchouli, n jasmine are there but not to compete the green tea note. I agree with Calvini that this is the best green tea fragrance ever!!

Hyouge reminds me of times i spent sitting in an old tea-house in Seoul that's brimming with plants and old pottery, yet it still maintains it's crisp and angelic cleanliness. It's a true matcha scent and I'm obsessed. I'm desperately looking to buy a bottle but it appears to be out of stock everywhere!

I have been on a search for the perfect tea scent, and I think Hyouge is the winner. I also have Wulong Cha from Nishane, but that one is too citrus and I would say it is actually a citrus fragrance. Hyouge smells exactly like jasmine green tea to my nose. It is delicate and refreshing. Perfection

Even I am a Japanese and I live in Japan, Oribe is very Japanese. Makes me feel like relaxing in a quiet Japanese-style room. I think it is more powdery in cold season. Very soft but neat. Very nice.

I have tried many tea fragrances but this is the most authentic matcha scent. Very refreshing! By the way, Satori renamed Oribe as Hyouge. They say that the scent has not been changed.

The tea note here beautifully channels the essence of Japanese aesthetics: clean, precise, disciplined, and delicate. You get fresh florals, a bittersweet green tea accord, and soft woods—all layered in quiet harmony. Overall, my impression is simple: a work of elegance. Longevity is quite good, though the sillage is more intimate—making it a perfect scent for the office or quiet moments. It nourishes the spirit. Highly recommended for tea scent lovers.

This opens very fresh and aromatic with a sappy earthiness to it. Fresh green leaves, with hints of naturalistic sweetness to it, but void of any gourmand undertones. It’s like a hyperealistic field of raw greens. This scent is simple, elegant, tranquil, and calming. It feels very effortless in the base as dry woodiness comes in. This is ceremonial tea in a wooden plank home in the early dewy mornings of spring, herbal freshness in the subtle winds blowing past.

I get the comparisons to Phantasma but I prefer this one so much more. This smells like I am sticking my nose directly into a lilac bush. It's so realistically blooming and floral but green. Such a floral NATURE smell. The green tea facets it beautifully but comes to my nose only after the lilac bush smell; still, I love smoothness it brings. Incredibly photorealistic -- it's not *floral* it's *flowers*

This is a very GREEN leafy interpretation of green tea. Imagine tea leaves so fresh that are crushed between your fingers instead of steeped into tea. Very clean, bright and nature smelling. The iris and violet are subtle, but still brings out a soft interesting berry-like nuance to the composition.

Gorgeous, herbal, green. Alas, very little longevity—the downfall of many tea scents.

In the bottle, smells like a lovely ceremonial green tea. Reminded me of trips to the Japanese Tea Garden in SF. On my skin it smells like hay and horse breath, like I'm back in my grandparents' neighborhood where the neighbors kept horses. Not anyone's fault, just wasn't a match :(

serene and tranquil. the two words i can best describe this scent. i have been on the hunt for quite some time to find a really good green tea scent that doesn't feel astringent like most of other tea scents do. they always lean citrusy and too spa-like, and doesn't capture that watery and skin-pruning, quenching feel of teas. and now that i have decanted and smelled multiple tea scents, i can pretty much say i've found a couple that matches my expectations and this is one of them. i was honestly influenced by a random perfume tiktoker who reviewed this and said that this is the closest green tea fragrance can ever get to the actual thing and she is absolutely correct. it is green, fresh and absolutely luscious. the fragrance opens with a really green and bright note, fresh and crisp green apple skin and leaves from the trees at 7:30 AM when it is still cold in the morning during summer. there is also a savory aspect that you can instantly get from smelling, reminding me a little bit of seaweed and perilla/shiso leaves but it is not overpowering. its just there during the opening and blends in well with the rest of the components in this perfume. its a strong green tea forward scent, but differs from Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea which to me is very astringent. finally, the scent journey ends with a light, close to the skin, full on green tea scent with a side of chewy unsweetened rice cakes on the side. and i know i said before that most tea scent leans spa-like and i have a tendency to dislike that, and to be honest it is really prominent here. it reminds me of the room sprays hotel lobbies or spas use, but to be honest i am not mad at it. at all really. i honestly just bought the decant because 1. i lack self control. but also 2. my friend is going to Japan this January so i bought the decant in hopes that maybe if i found this to be absolutely pretty, i would full bottle it and ask my friend to purchase it for me. and honestly.. i can't truly reach to that conclusion as of right now. i have to give it a few days to wear test and let my brain fully develop what this scent would be on me but so far, it is positive. if this perfume has a song, it would be the Main Theme from Konatsu and Hiyori by Akira Kosemura. https://open.spotify.com/track/5Eh8pS6SalogAgleUYT8t6?si=acf94798fff54768

Delicate green tea floral Lovely top note, a sweetened green tea accord with fresh green almost minty undertones, reminding me a bit of Miller Bertaeux Menta y Menta. It develops into tender and pleasantly waxy violet Iris with a soft woody backbone. Surprisingly there is a certain sweetness that reminds me of a type of sweetener called erythritol, which is actually very fitting because it complements the minty green tea accord adding up to a sugar free green tea gum or diet green ice tea vibe. Due to the floral dominance and sweetness it sits more so on the feminine side. Regardless I find it still suitable for men, ideally worn on quiet and contemplative Sunday mornings.

I love the story behind this scent / brand, I also acknowledge the very clear artistry & quality. Unfortunately however the matcha note, to me, smells like wet dog. I cannot un-smell it. I get wet dog on paper, wet dog on clothes & wet dog on skin. All I get is wet dog! - 1/10

-Hyouge is another name for Oribe, it appears. -Green tea scent, pleasant and inoffensive. -Reminiscent of Wulong Cha by Nishane. Except this is less citrus and more tea-centric. -Exists in a similar vein to Sisley's Eau Tropicale, one of my all-time favourites. (-)

Arguably the closest to a true green tea scent that I've found. The opening has a fresh cooling effect, but it is quickly followed by the earthy tannins of an unsweetened green tea beverage. It sits very close to the skin and doesn't have major longevity.
