Madeleine

For the past few weeks, my Holy Trinity has been this: Artemitia (Onyrico), Hundred Silent Ways (Nishane), and Madeleine. They smell complementary to me, even have the same color... As far as my nose is concerned, they could be part of a triptych, maybe my olfactory triptych. I can use them anytime, I can choose any of the three and I will be happy with the choice. Madeleine is the freshest and boldest fragrance among the three. It is equally elegant, pleasant and ethereally sweet, but with a dose of spice and pleasant acidity that the other two do not have. There are few notes, but each one has its place and each one makes its contribution in perfect harmony. To me, there is nothing too ripe or too sweet about this fragrance. I'm always careful with almonds because I'm not a fan of the smell of marzipan (which is what almonds are often reduced to), but here it's devoid of any "floury" and "pasty" effect. Thanks to "green" in the almond note, I guess. Longevity is great, just one whiff in the morning around 8 o'clock and I can still feel it through the material of the shirt, in the crook of the elbow, more than 7 hours later... I love fragrances that have character and are not suffocating or aggressive in announcing their presence. In Madeleine you will find a fragrance that will accompany you all day, but in a discreet and unobtrusive way. In this, I think they have succeeded in their intention to create a fragrance that will embody the feeling that "nothing ever completely disappears" with its profile. For me, definitely worth a full bottle.

Madeleine is probably the BEST almond based fragrances that I have ever tried. It is very dense and is one between this kind of fragrances the more long lasting is. The opening is a bit fresh, with the bergamot and the almond, It has even for me some minth vibe. Then in the dry down It becomes powdery, sweet and flowery with the presence of the heliotrope, one of the bes heliotrope perfumes that I have also ever tried. In the dry down the musk give some power yo the fragance, which lasts easily 7-8 hours with a medium sillage. I have discovered a great perfume, one of the BEST I have tried during the last months. This perfume goes following the líne of perfumes like object celeste by Volnay or Pegasus by parfums de Marly but... For me much better! An intoxicating concoction that I have fallen in love with, but absolutely not a safe blind buy. On my skin, the almond turns sweet and powdery, but I can easily imagine it go all cloyingly bitter on somebody else. Very powerful when smelled close up, but from a distance it projects creamy and decadent sweetness with just a hint of citrus bonbons. It reminds me a lot of Liquid Illusion by Juliette Has a Gun, which is a perfume that I always wanted to liked because of the almond-heliotrope duo, but couldn't bear because of a loud screechy note in the base. Madeleine has become a great alternative - it has that juicy duo without the overpowering obnoxious note of Liquid Illusion.

This is a very interesting perfume and pretty unique too. The star here is a decidedly "green" almond. Usually, almond notes are sweet and powdery. Not so here. Here, the almond is "fresh" and even a bit citrussy. It feels green and smells green if that makes sense. Rather than sweet, it's a bit creamy. It's thankfully not gourmand but rather aromatic. Very unusual! It might sound a bit strange but it's actually quite addictive. Aromatic and creamy and almondy. Office friendly, completely unisex and with fantastic sillage/longevity. Great all around!

I rarely leave reviews, but this is so good. Not to mention, on my skin, this is the beast mode! I can still smell this after 8 hours - now, I must say that I have a maximum of two fragrances that I can smell on myself (people surrounding me can, I can't). With this beauty, I smell it from the beginning to the end. Delicious sweet sugary almonds: to me, this is quite linear. I don't think this is powdery at all, not to my nose anyway. If you're a gourmand lover, give this a sniff!

Madeleine knocked me over, in the best way. Although initially I found it really off putting. It smelled like a synthetic bag of chemicals and raw alcohol when I first sprayed it and I was not happy. But I didn’t scrub it.. and after a few minutes lo and behold- a delicate lemon appeared. And then it became a delicate lemon short bread. And then it became lemon shortbread studded with almonds. And finally- a syrupy cherry-like cordial that is actually heliotrope entered the picture, like a sauce for the shortbread. I was intrigued and seduced, I have to admit. Madeleine has enormous sillage and lasts absolutely forever. Which is kind of surprising for this type of scent profile, although as far as that goes, Madeleine is unusual. I am reminded of Heliotrope Milkbath a little but that one is like Madeleine’s shy retiring cousin that leaves the party early. I’m also reminded a little of Blanche Bête and Star Musk. Both are white fluffy clouds studded with sweet florals. They don’t have the nutty gourmand aspect that Madeleine has though. And none of these have its massive sillage. Madeleine isn’t cheap at all but it is unique and it lasts and it projects. If you like Heliotrope or almond perfumes this is a must try.

I have got it last spring. It was impression of beautiful fresh-soupy-sweet scent, which got super well with spring weather. As it went into summer and was getting hotter and hotter somehow it became simple overly sweet. Now it's spring again and I am reaching it very often :) Very well blended, good quality shinny star.

Sugary beaten egg whites mixed with bitter almond oil, grated lemon peel and a little flour, baked to a fluffy soufflé. Unfortunately a bit too sweet.

I liked it upon first sniff, it smelled like marshmallow fluff, but after a bit (like an hour) it smells like maple syrup and dried urine on a city wall. too cloying.

Very aggressive upon first spray resembling hair spray style fragrances from the 90’s. Has a sharp bitter marzipan note and it goes like that for a few hours. Towards the end becomes really powdery musky and slightly sweet. Bears some resemblance with tonka imperiale but it is not as sweet and not as complex.

Soft hintly sweet almonds. Bitter almonds, heliotrope, vanilla coated soapy sandalwood, and musk. It's like a sweet soapy almond bits. It reminds me allot of "Mon Precieux Nectar" by Guerlain but more soapy and less sweet. I liked it at first, but i feel that i already own a similar one. Nice. Edit (18th Jan 2021) I visited this blend when i was searching for "Erawan" by Dusita! When i read the name i remembered the beautiful smooth bottle and how the name of the juice and the color of the juice captivated me! Surprisngly, after a spray on my arm, i started to get some hints of tea with bergamot and almonds. It's pretty blend indeed but honestly i still think it should've been much better than bergamot, tea, musk, heliotrope, and almonds! at least add some peach nectar or apricots to meets the color. Edit (14th Sept 2023) it is cute indeed! maybe a bit over sweetened! but pretty with that heliotrope, sugared almonds, & bit of musk.

Interesting creation. The sweet almond and Helio fight with a green zesty bergamot. The result is a well balanced acid sugary vanilline potion. A gourmand creamy yeast. Elegant, sophisticated. Not a "cake" perfume at all. Very good scent. Actually it reminds me a lot Christian Lacroix by Lacroix (shell bottle). They share similar notes here Heliotrope bergamot and almond, there Heliotrope tarragon (Estragon, green herbal), tonka (a very almondy note) plus much more ingredients.

blind bought a FB which arrived about a week ago. so far, i’m getting a lot of the “fresh spicy” so much that it smells really soapy. not bad, just not what i expected from the notes or the reviews. there are definitely some flashes of something i REALLY love (sweet, lush, almondy goodness) underneath the soapiness. they’re so fleeting though. i’m gonna let the bottle sit and recover more from its journey and pray this one gets better over time!

These perfumers are good at helacious scent bubbles. Sweet beast is how this opens. Never have smelled bergamot handled in such a way that it seems like the rind was candied. Not a macho bergamot at all, and it lasts through the rain. Glacée citrus almond with an unrelenting heliotrope musk. Smells dynamic and sensual on skin.
