1902 Gingembre Vert

The fragrance of Gingembre Vert is an ideal example of what to expect from a unisex cologne. It is part of the 1902 Eau de Cologne Tradition collection, which boasts numerous quality Eaux de Cologne produced by Berdoues. Gingembre Vert combines with summer days and imparts a subtle scent of green and aromatic tones. It has notes of ginger, lemon and cardamom, right at the exit, giving an impact of freshness in the initial minutes. Then notes of green mint, clove and lily of the valley bring a fresher and spicy side, which evolves on a base of woods, nutmeg and musk. Gingembre Vert is a green cologne in all its essence, to the point of pleasing fans of fragrances with nuances of ginger, as well as those who enjoy the refreshment of mint. But the high point, in my opinion, is due to the clove note, which combines very well with the lemon and brings a more masculine and elegant aspect, although of short duration. On my skin, the fragrance of 1902 Gingembre Vert did not last in the same way as that of 1902 Figue Blanche, which is a shame. Still, the directions remain the same: a family lunch, a run in the park (or on the treadmill of the gym), a visit to the corner pizzeria on a Saturday afternoon, etc. 1902 Gingembre Vert does not bother the others, it is not aggressive and it's a delight, not to mention the cost benefit, which is very good (I've already seen the 480ml bottle for about R$80). But it is worth remembering that this is an Eau de Cologne, so do not expect a high durability. Otherwise, it will not be a case of poor quality, but of consumer naivety.

This reminds me very much of a bamboo essential oil a friend gifted my family when I was a kid (he was visiting from France, and perhaps it was French Bamboo? Unlike the famous lavender from Provence I doubt there is such a thing as "French bamboo", but who knows). I think that the bamboo note accounts for most of the "green" quality of the scent - I don't notice anything such as galbanum, vetiver, or fresh cut grass, which is what I usually think of when people someone says a perfume smells "green" or "herbal". The ginger scent is specifically really fresh and not sour at all. It is reminiscent of the "Lemon & Ginger" perfume from 4177, except that it is not at all a "candied" kind of ginger. Finally, I think that mint also makes a showing in this perfume; expect a refreshing bamboo-mint-ginger experience and you won't be disappointed.

Light, fresh, clean and green. The ginger is bright like a freshly washed, newly sprouted root without a bit of soil left on it. I get a little green like a bamboo leaf. It’s an early spring scent for a sunny day in an immaculate garden. It’s a cologne. Expect soft sillage and low longevity. Affordable enough to replenish as often as needed.
