Selva do Brazil

I am testing a mini spray of this today and I like it! It is very green and fresh! It reminds me of aloe. This would be nice on a spring day, to help celebrate the snow melting! I would be happy to add this next spring.

A pretty convincing alternative to the getting-harder-find Mugler Cologne. The petit grain note is very well supported by woods, giving this a soft yet present feel.

Got a sample of this. The opening is initially rather sharp and to me oddly reminiscent of 4711. That's only the first few minutes though. It does quickly turn milder and slightly sweeter. Frankly I cannot quite wrap my head around no citrus notes being listed in the notes. But yes, it is really pleasantly tropical green. Personally i don't detect much woodiness even later into wear. For me it just gets weaker and that a bit disappointingly fast too. I do like it. It's a simple fresh and green summer pick. But the way it is a bit one dimensional and how fast it fades, you'd really have to be generous with your application to make it last for some time. If you want it to last through the day, you may need to carry it along with you to freshen up. All over the impression I get from it is much more that of a eau de toilette or a cologne even, rather than a perfume. If you're interested I'd suggest getting a sample first, test drive it a bit, and then decide if it's worth the price tag for you. If the verdict is no, you'll definitely find something similar possibly at a drugstore even at a much more affordable price.

Got this in the post finally today. Very fresh, green scent. Used it straight after showering, very mood lifting and energetic type of vibe. Opening very much reminds me of 4711 or TFNP. Odd because the top note is only pettigrain. having said that this is very much a skin scent and sillage is very limited. This is the sort of fragrance I would wear on holiday in a hot country just before we go down for breakfast. We get back to the hotel relax, and then by around 12pm start our day. I would then put on my actual fragrance for the day for better performance and sillage. It is supposed to be a niche fragrance but I've smelled other designer fragrances with similar DNA's so I don't think its worth the money. Luckily I got this for £40 on ebay. Scent 7/10 Performance 4/10 Sillage 3/10 Value 3/10

This a safe, inoffensive and enjoyable scent. There is nothing out of the ordinary, it's a soft and delicate citrus/ grass profile. Similar to some baby colognes, minus the alcoholic part. It's an ideal Summer perfume, that I'm sure will fare well in very hot climates. It's a very restricted and simple pyramid of non synthetic ingredients. So you get that very pure, clear and unassuming result. I'm thinking this might be a good perfume to layer or tone down another more brash perfume. It's definitely a close skin scent and sillage in mild weather will not be great.

Literally smells like being in a fresh forest. I see lush green leaves, ground cover and immediately see "bamboo"'. I used to wear this by itself in summer as I got tired of the old lemon screechy scents but still wanted something fresh energizing. I find it to one dimensional to wear alone now and Im really enjoying it paired with Molton Brown flora Luminaire which is a tropical floral with bold jasmine in the dry down.Rather sweet and was not an ideal buy for me - so I needed to make a plan. Its working really really well to balance it out for summer.

The first thing I thought when experiencing this was “carnal flower light,” and the only note listed from the brand is tuberose. However, no one else has mentioned carnal flower and no tuberose is mentioned on Fragrantica. So I may be crazy but I think this is a great substitute for CF—, especially if you think CF is too strong or expensive, and willing to accept that the longevity here is also quite light. Very green tuberose, not very sharp, I think vetiver (or apparently Tonka or guiac wood according to Fragrantica) rounds it out nicely.

Very nice indeed- it really does evoke a shady clearing in a hot-country forest (though without earthiness or animalics). Somehow simultaneously fresh, green, leafy, yet also sweet and woody too. Completely unisex though some may find it a shade too manly. I really wish longevity were better though.

this opens with petit grain, woods and greenery. it's green, aromatic and citrussy. i don't seem to get much tonka bean. the woodiness dissipates a bit after awhile and it's mostly a citrus/green perfume. it's very refreshing and good for warm weather.

I bought the 8-perfume sampler Berdoues Collection Grands Crus, and this is my favorite among them. If you like petitgrain, you must try this! This is definitely a summer/spring fragrance.

This smells so fresh and clean. It’s like a sophisticated Irish springs body wash. Just a tad masculine but still unisexy. I’ll probably give it to my husband.

Why is this classified as a Woody Oriental? Look at the reviews here and the notes listed - NOTHING about it is oriental.

"رایحه سبز و تند و مرکباتی. انگار برگ و شاخه های نرم درخت مرکبات مثلا پرتقال یا ترنج را فشار بدیم و شبیه له کردن بعد جلوی بینی بگیریم و بو کنیم. حسی مرکباتی، سبز و تند. به نظرم طراوت یا حس سبز، خنکی، گرما، رایحه شیرین و ترش ملایم در این عطر حس میشه ولی حس خنک غالب هست و می توان به راحتی در فصل معتدل و گرم استفاده کرد. اون حس تند ملایم که گفتم شاید بیشتر یک نکته انحرافی در ذهن هنگام بوییدن باشه و شاید به خاطر رایحه چوب خاص باشه که حس سبز، مرکباتی و شاداب بودن ادکلن را مقداری خواسته کم کنه. شاید از راه دور یا مقداری زمان بعد از اسپری کردن، حسی گلی شبیه به مریم یا یاس هم بشه در رایحه احساس کرد البته اگر من درست تشخیص داده باشم البته در کنار رایحه ترش مرکباتی سبز و مقداری چوبی. پخش و ماندگاری خوبه. بلکه بالاتر. حس انرژی داشتن ایجاد می کنه."

Petitgrain + wood = a facsimile of vetiver, as noted by another commenter, as well as an aquatic note. This is bitter wood, almost sour. Smells like a fragrance you might put in a wood cleaner. I find it one of Berdoues' weaker offerings. What makes this inoffensive is that it's vanishingly small - very little sillage or longevity. Has that proper cologne experience: a quick splash of refreshment, if it works for you. I don't think all perfume needs to be seasonal, but this would feel out of place past spring or summer.

this does indeed start out citrusy, green and refreshing, but i also notice quite a big watery, marinic note like in l'eau de issey and CK one, so i'm guessing this contains (unlisted) calone. for me the drydown is largely calone above all else. if you really like that note but you'd like something that combines it with citrusy, green notes, this may be for you.

The beginning is a sharp and bracing petitgrain, which quickly changes into a smoky green scent, reminiscent of incense. On clothes, the crispness of the opening persists. On my skin, however, I'm reminded of the sandalwood joss sticks that you burn at altars or in temples. The scent is fairly linear from here into the drydown.

I really like the green humidity of this scent. It vaporizes right off me and is hightly subdued after a few minutes though. I don't know if it is instant nose fatigue or what! It really is a nice dumb reach. Nothing to fear wearing this one.

So basically it smells like freshly cut forest undergrowth. It dries down to wood and tonka, but by that time it's a skin scent. It's an easy on the nose vegetal fresh scent, but it's also a bit underwhelming.

A green jungle opening washes away very quickly, vaporizing entirely after half an hour or so. I keep exercising it hoping for something more.

A bit disappointed as it was hyped by the great Sebastian. But this time it didn’t grab me. It’s just a simple floral which turns a bit sweeter, but nothing addictive to me. Sorry :-)

Berdoues is a brand I've grown to appreciate because even though their scents aren't groundbreaking, they're all very approachable, pleasant, and relatively affordable for niche. It's a brand you wear when you just want something easy, you know? Just something to lift you up a bit. Not all occasions call for the most beautiful and complex scent known to humankind. Selva do Brazil fits the bill pretty well in this regard. Is is remarkable? Newsworthy? The best fragrance ever? No. Not by a long shot. There are better smelling fragrances out there with more of a technical backbone. But there's something really serene, pleasant, and simple about this fragrance that I really enjoy. Sometimes I just want to smell nice for cheap and this is a good fragrance for that (most of the Grand Crus line is good for that, actually). This one's green. It's fresh. It scratches that itch for something straightforward and unpretentious. Longevity is actually pretty impressive, probably 6-8 hours. Projection is relatively close to the skin, depending on how much you spray.

Good fragrance for summer. I agree with Anabol2336 below, this does have a strong smell of fresh cut grass, but in a really nice, citrusy way. Demeter has some earthy, grassy perfumes that turn my stomach with how realistic they are - Selva do Brazil doesn't do that. There are other notes here, the orangey facets of petitgrain, the woodiness, the combination of which translates as masculine soapiness. In the drydown, plenty of sweet tonka, which then transforms the scent into something more unisex. I really like how the tonka comes out in this perfume, which is the perfect sweet note for this overall light and refreshing scent. I think I'm starting to understand the house of Berdoues a bit more, or at least this Collection Grand Crus. All of the scents are really light and nice for warmer weather, but each one is definitely unique, with distinctive notes and stages. Excited to smell the rest of this discovery kit during the summer.

As a brazilian, i am usually sceptical when a perfume is marketed using my country. You usually get a messy fruity cocktail that does not smell like anything i associate with my country or smells from my childhood. Selva do Brasil is different. It does indeed smell like a brazilian jungle. When i first smelled it, it reminded me of a small town in the mountains from Rio where i used to spend my vacations as a child. It was surrounded by native jungle and i loved that place. I wouldn’t be surprised if i knew the parfumeur of Selva do Brasil had vacations in Brazil. This perfume is beautiful. Fresh, green and a bit spicy. Good for all seasons and very classy. Thumbs up! I will look for other fragrances from this brand. It was a pleasant surprise!

I live in the middle of the hot California desert, where the temps are scorching during the summer. Selva do Brazil will make a perfect hot-weather option when that time comes. Right out of the bottle, this makes me think of bright, green bamboo plants or a pond surrounded by lush greenery. This has a really nice cooling effect when it hits your skin. Despite the tonka bean, this manages to stay fresh all the way through. It does come off as relaxed and laid-back, but I still think it is unique for a fresh-type scent. This is text-book 'dumb-reach'...easy, breezy, nice.

It opens very fresh, bright and bitter green. It is exactly the smell of petitgrain leaves crushed in your hands. But it loses the freshness rather soon, then tonka(powdery and a tad sweet) and a woody smell (dark and mettalic guaiac) are added to the base. Very simple composition makes it rather dull. Not a bad perfume for casual use but nothing ground-breaking or exciting is awaiting you in Selva Do Brazil. By the way,don't expect decent longevity or sillage.

يك مشكل عمده كارهاي سيتروسي و يا نرولي تقريبا مشابه بودن و عدم ماندگاری انها است.خب تهیه کارهای تک و خاصی و شاهکاری هایی مثل زرجوف رنایسنس و یا تام فورد پورتوفینو نیز با قیمت های بسیار بالا برای همه امکان پذير نيست.اين ادوكلن رايحه اي بسيار خوشبو به خصوص در بيس نوت دارد.ماندگاری بالایی دارد.درست است که تقریبا قیمتی دو برابر برایت نرولی فراری دارد اما از همه نظر بالاتر است.يك انتخاب خوب براي استفاده معممول در روزهاي گرم سال است.

Really citrussy, I wouldn't say neroli more like a green bergamot and grass notes and petitgrain of course. A touch cologney so a little on the masculine side but just a tiny bit. Very enjoyable, fresh. It's green but not just green. Although the name seems to suggest woody or green accords, I still get clear floral scents in it. It smells like a chorus of neroli, sage and vetiver on my skin and the neroli takes the main position. A garden instead of a forest, that's how the scent differs from its name and ingredients listed here. Still, it is a nice scent, quite soothing.

I'm in the dry down phase currently and I pick up citrus and something slightly ozonic. At first spray this was very fresh and like a cologne but as I've worn it it's morphed into a fresh citrusy scent. The longevity of this particular brand is not that great, I do wish these had more staying power as I have come to enjoy quite a few scents from this particular house.

Balanced citrus green blend. Still i can sense that green cooling breeze within this one as well with a grand mesmerizing slightly bitter tea note beside the petitgrain. I can detect some jasmines as well as the rancidity does exists a bit. No oud, and no tonka beans detected. Styrax is slightly exists as well. A 2nd impressive blend from this brand!

This smells EXACTLY like Creed Original Vetiver for the first 30 minutes, after that it’s similar still but not quite the same. I love Original V, one of my favs. The reviews on here say this is a pretty bad performer, but for 25% of the price of the Creed, may not be a bad alternative. But still not as good as OV :)

A nice scent. Starts with a very quick blast of petitgrain (not much more than 5 minutes), then dries down to tonka with a hint of woodiness. The tonka lasts quite a while on me, a little more than just a skin scent - reminds me of the tonka in Burberry Brit Rhythm.

Elsa Schiaparelli had pink; this is what I think that same “shocking” quality would do to green. These simple three notes couldn’t make a deeper more complicated scent.

Green, woody, bitter. Longevity and projection is decent. One of the best in Berdoues portfolio.

Smells awful, like a combination of old lady lotion and insecticide. Do not recommend.
