Columbine

This is gorgeous! It is a classical perfume in that it has a real pyramid. Kicking off with citrus and tobacco notes that combined smell like a rich amber colored honey. Sweet, but not in the sense of current perfumes - this isn't simple syrup or spun sugar sweet. This is stewed citrus sweet, a promise of interesting notes to follow. As the florals unfurl I get a very waxy yellow note in there that is probably the Tagetes, but I can't be sure as suede sometimes reads as waxy to my nose as well. The combo of the yellow flowers and iris never presents as a true floral bouquet to my nose. More of a general bouquet that adds just enough floral botanical appeal to keep this from becoming a heavy sweet tobacco/suede affair. Someone mentioned it is too sweet earlier. It is sweet, but not in that fruitchouli sweetness nor is as sweet as some of the Serge Luten's I have had that contain the stewed fruit notes. This leans femme to my nose on me with my chemistry, however I am certain men can pull this off so, I am going to with truly unisex. It is reminiscent of the original formulation of Miss Dior (the drier more tailored formula of the 60s) - yet combined with some aspects of Naomi Goodsir's Or du Serail but lighter and more wearable. I think I will be wearing this a lot come autumn. It is quite unique. Sillage is medium to strong, and so is longevity.

The opening is a combination of powdery florals and smoky notes, with a hint of leather and musk in the background. In the dry-down, the florals become more subdued and vanilla starts to emerge. On my skin, I don’t really get much of the citrus note. My nose doesn’t quite agree with the description this website offers—it’s there, but definitely not the most pronounced scent. To me, it comes across more as floral, powdery, tobacco, musky, and only then citrus. I still think this is a good perfume. The combination of tobacco and powdery florals is unusual, but very well executed. It truly lives up to its description—luxurious, sophisticated, and yet sensual. That said, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you enjoy it from the very beginning to the end. I found it slightly confusing due to the contrast between the opening and the base.

I didn't expect to like this one as much as I do. It's a beautiful powdery citrusy scent that you can wear any season, and the longevity and projection are both great. It leans more feminine but a man can definitely wear this too. Wearing it makes me feel more mature and put together. I might need a full bottle.

very sweet, too sweet for me, at the opening — i was getting heavy-duty root beer float vibes. so i agree with the other reviewer re: a licorice or anisic quality — as root beer has anise/licorice as one of its main flavor compoents — it was that plus the citrus, vanilla, and maybe pink peppercorn, creating that effect, i think. as it develops it really transforms, something i like in fragrances, and the deeper, darker, and spicy/green/earthy (vetiver, leather, iris) accords start to come into play a bit more, providing a good contrast to all the sweetness and light in the beginning. still probably too sweet for my taste overall but it does have a seductive quality at its heart that i find appealing. addendum: i sprayed this on a blotter also, and it's not as sweet as on my skin — and much lovelier, much more in line with ciro's description (on their website). same with where it got on my clothing. quite beautiful, with an alluring depth.

No citrus on my skin, apart from a brief blast in the opening. After that, this becomes a genuine sweet tobacco scent with leather gloves. It smells like an old-fashioned woman’s leather handbag, with a few cigarettes crumbled inside and a forgotten handkerchief carrying the faintest trace of neroli perfume. It opens strongly, but softens quite quickly on me. I imagine this is what your clothes might have smelled like after a night in a speakeasy during the Roaring Twenties or Thirties: tobacco, leather, perfume, smoke and a little faded glamour.
