Malibu Musk

Was at Shoppers here in Canada and found Perry Ellis 360° on the discount shelf. Started reading some reviews and one person said it smelled like Malibu Musk. Didn't need to read anymore. Id been craving to smell MM for years now, so I l bought it blind without smelling it for 22$. Well... let me tell you! It reminds me so much of MM, but not a perfect dupe. It's a haunting memory of what was, in the most beautiful form. Like we're holding a celebration of life for this lovely scent that followed us through our youth. I highly recommend picking this up if you can get your hands on it. It's not super strong, but neither was Malibu Musk. Lasts a few hours, longer on clothing and is so fresh! I'm not a fan at all of smelling like melons, but this one is well formulated so it's not overpowering and blends well with the other notes. It's missing some powder notes is all, from what I can tell.. Haven't smelled MM in ages, but this Perry Ellis 360° (white box) is taking me back. Perry Ellis 360° is less linear than Malibu Musk was, but it's lovely all the way through and if you snag it for discount like I have, you won't feel bad about having to respray in a few hours. I respray more often when wearing it at home because I love the initial blast reminder of Malibu Musk. It's beautiful the whole way through though.

Heads up about Cradle the Soul. They say do NOT buy on Etsy, someone has copied them. I think they are on FB, have a website & are selling on Ebay. I may order. That Sleepy time bear perfume mentioned, doesn't even come up on Google. PS Cradle the Soul got booted from Etsy (Per their FB) May not be their fault, so there are imposters. I bought a small 8 ML spray off of Ebay from them, I will come back here & compare. I have Prescriptives Calyx, It DOES smell very similar to MM, I do not own Clinique's version, but I do remember smelling it at the Clinique counter & I remember I didn't like it. But, I am very picky about how they change fragrances for whatever reason, so it just didn't hold up to Prescriptive's version to me. I still have mine & it has held up just fine. Suggestions for dupes, that I own are Bond 9 Park av South , PRESCRIPTIVES Calyx, Perry Ellis 360 EDP, NOT the Edt, the Edt stinks, at least mine does I just bought blindly. Eww. UPDATE~ Stick with PE or Calyx, or maybe others mentioned. I have to be honest, I don't know if it's just their new formulation ( I never smelled the other one) but CTS's isn't that good. No peach to my nose, & overly aldehydic. Smells like baby wipes. I did get a sample of "Tribe" tho, & It's spot on.

Hello friends of fragrantica. 🏺 If you love this perfume I just found a dupe! Nostalgia and dejavu brought me here. I just bought a tiny bottle of a perfume because of its🐻 3d bear on it called CHAOKU BAOBAO SLEEPY TIME. The notes are top note strawberries black currants red apples and citrus the middle notes Sweet Pea freesia Jasmine Rose and the base notes raspberry sandalwood and Amber The lid is pink. It Instantly transported me back to this perfume Malibu Musk. When I was just getting out of High School I used to clean offices and I remember wearing Malibu Musk because it was such an uplifting perfume. Extremely fruity and tart. 🌟This perfume was like having sunshine in a bottle. I remember it was so long lasting and me and my girlfriends would spray it in our teased 80's and early 90's hair ......oh my God the memories. If you come by to read this happy 2024 to you.

I've lost most of my memories from an accident I had 15 years ago.. Was just somewhere else and read the name "Malibu Musk" and it sounded so familiar! Typed it in the googles and sure enough - I once owned the perfume and body spray! I know I did.. yet I can't remember how it smelled. It's making me think of the mid 90s and gave me a quick little picture in my mind of my bedroom back then.. So, now I NEED to smell it - maybe it will bring back actual memories, as we all know scent does that! Anyways, I found it on the ebay. $250.00 for one can of body spray! ?!? HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA WHAAAAT!?!?! Sorry.. umm I'm fairly certain I paid less than the $6 they are charging for shipping, for the bottle and can together lol $250.00 WTF Well, the thought was nice. Anyone know of a dupe? Haha

Ohhhh my my.... They have finally added this treasure, now why can the genie in the time machine not bring this gem back??? Yes, 1993...this scent takes me back to the ORIGINAL 90210 series, to magazines like Tiger Beat, Bop and Teen Beat, to the alternative rock scene I was so in love with (think Counting Crows, Gin Blossoms, Toad the Wet Sprocket). Malibu Musk was PURE summer, pure freedom. They've never made another beauty like this...I bought a few cans of body spray last year but have only sparingly played with one, here in Canada they don't believe in selling this fragrance in any way, shape or form :( What I wouldn't GIVE for a bottle of the actual perfume...Malibu Musk, you will always have a place in my heart, through my memories and on my perfume counter xoxo

I remember my first whiff of this in 1993, I was 14 years old. It was on my best friend Monica. Every time I'd sleep over her house, we would douse ourselves in this fruity cocktail of a frag before sneaking out of her bedroom window! She passed away in a tragic accident not even a year later. Throughout all of these years (I'm 35 now), every single time I come across this in any form, I pick up the lot to spray my room. Malibu Musk will always remind me of my dear friend and of leaving a perfumed cloud of evidence behind and having the teenaged time of our lives! <3

This is my 2nd favourite scent. The memories tied to this flirty tropical musk, are a plenty. This was my go to sent from the early to mid 90s I would go through a can of body spray, far quicker then anyone should. I remember drowning myself in it New Year’s Eve 92’ I was 13 and used it to seduce my now husband for a kiss. Lol I have tried for several years to find it, with no luck. I wish they still made it. I’d still wear it for nostalgia sakes :)

I wore the perfume and body spray... I sprayed both several times a day during High school. I found a can on Amazon a few years ago for 13$... I sprayed it almost daily as a room spray and now regret it because it's all used up and can no longer be purchased sigh. How I loved this fresh, fun, pineapple & fresh air scent. If parfumes de whatever decides to bring it back, I hope it is released in it's original feel good glory. Gosh I loved this one.

This was my signature scent from my freshman year of high school until I got married in my 20s. One of my bridesmaids doused me with it just before I walked down the aisle. It's a bit much for a signature for me these days, but it always holds a place in my heart and I would still happily wear it occasionally for fun if I had it (but I recently added it to my Amazon wish list, so maybe?)

When i was in middle/high school i used to use all of my sisters Malibu Musk, until she gave me a can for Christmas and told me were to buy it. Ever since theni faithfully thats the only spray i would use. Since they stopped making it and believe me i would search but now no stores sell it (sad face)(i now use Sun Flowers).. Please im begging please bring it back.

One of the first perfumes I owned, purchased at a garage sale with some 2nd hand Clinique stuff inside an old makeup bag (I was 9 or 10!) I thought I smelled like an extremely COOL teenager when I wore it. If I had it now (as a 37-year-old), I would feel like an extremely COOL teenager when I wore it. Parfums de Couer, bring it back!

Thescent4you.com has an oil version of Malibu Musk. I haven’t tried it yet as their knock off for jadore was way too melon heavy but it’s only $2.50 for 1/3oz so it’s worth a shot. It seems like all the old 90s and 80s fragrances just don’t smell as amazing as they did back then— what happened?

I hadn't been on here for awhile-and lo and behold, two perfumes popped right up at me when I signed back in , Electric Youth and Malibu Musk.......I had the spray can and just seeing the picture brings back memories.... Pizza parties, United Skates on Fridays, pegged jeans and scrunchies.....

This scent takes me back in 5th grade. Wow! A classmate of mine sprayed this and I was hooked. I remembered that I can't stop thinking about this and had to ask her for a little spray. Hehehe good times. I have the body spray in can and edt (glass with coconut leaves cover).

I bought Perry Ellis 360 edt at Burlington for $10 (1 oz.) because I love Sophia Grojsman. I immediately thought of Malibu Musk when I sprayed it! Not an exact dupe, but very similar, I'd definitely recommend it if you've been searching for an MM substitute.

There is nothing like it! PLEASE Bring it back! I found a body spray bottle, almost half full, while cleaning. I'm beyond happy. It's 90 degrees outside today, and this scent is wonderful for it. Pure Sunshine in a bottle!

I love Malibu Musk! So many awesome memories go along with this perfume. Too bad it's been discontinued for quite some time. This was just a happy feel good fragrance, everytime I wore it, just couldn't help but smile!

One of the scents I wore in my pre/early teen years and I miss it so much! I wish they would re-release this along with Tribe. Very floral, very musk-y, no doubt about it.

I had this in 1990. My normal purfumes in school, since I wasn't one of those popular well to do poison, opium, obsession girls. I had exclamation, sand n sable, & occasionally would spray on Georgio or Charlie in pay n save. I was 17, my friend was 13 & she got this & it was SO strong in comparison to all the other aerosol body sprays. I remember buying it as soon as I could & went on a date w my bf & almost felt embarrassed cause I smelled so overpowering compared to my sof twice gardenia musk of sand & sable. He was wearing a hyper color shirt & I went to touch it- you know how it would change color when you touch it, well I got too close & he commented "thats strong!" So I guess thats why I was embarrassed. Like oops I wear way too much purfume. But it wasn't that he didn't like it. Its just that he really liked me so he was taking it all in. I've tried all other purfumes & nothing really comes close to it. Someone suggested a bond but that just smells like salon selective shampoo. So, what i did was I sprayed liz Clairborne, (the red triangle) 2.7.3 (w red cap) & live luxe- j.lo (coincidentally, also w a red cap) & it smells more like it than anything else lots of juicy red berries, but without the aerosol dry choking musk part which I would literally choke after spraying at times. I've tried & I have calyx prescriptives and clinique calyx (the reformulation & no that alone doesnt smell as much like malibu musk. Thats more watery green & dewy but hang on. Im Back. So I just sprayed exclamation I. The aerosol can also. & that smelled alot like it with the other 3 on my arm. But then I added calyx & it added that sour note. But it made it more like the live my j. lo w the green lid. So conclusion. If you have: Liz Clairborne 2.7.3 J. Lo luxe Exclamation That might be a more of a similar IF you sprayed them all together. Cause so far its the closest I've smelled. & I have over 600 purfumes. Definately red berries w a somewhat sour aerosol powdery warm sun surrounding. Is malibu musk. But it was always way strong. & projection was always "enormous" Oh yeah I also sprayed poison too. But I didn't add it in there cause poison is too poison distinctive & yeah the calyx gave it too much of a green sour smell

Ahh, the nostalgia is strong with this one. I emailed the company (Parfums de Coeur) and found out that Malibu Musk was discontinued due to LACK OF SALES! The CS rep told me she would recommend that they bring it back. She was probably just trying to shut me up, but maybe if enough people contact them about it, they will seriously consider it. It's a nice fresh scent for summer, but I refuse to pay $50+ for a single can on Ebay. Hopefully enough people will demand it's return so we can all go down to our local drugstores and pay $3 a can again :) Update-2018. Sometimes you just have to say goodbye to your favorites; and sadly, I think that's the case with Malibu Musk. I got my hands on a NOS vintage bottle in the box and a used palm tree bottle (estate sales). Let me just say this juice does not age well AT ALL. Smelling the nozzles, they smelled good! However, there's some note/s in here that must fracture quickly. Both bottles go on heavy and smell like alcohol and crayons. Many hours later I get a small whiff of classic MM, but it's just a whisper; and it's lacking that brightness I was used to. This "okay" drydown is not worth smelling like a drunk crayon for the first 5 hours after spraying it. People put the backs of their hands on their noses when I walked by. Really, it's awful. The cans I have smell better because they're newer, but you don't get many sprays out of them. I would never pay the price sellers are asking for this online (bottle or can). Unless you have some money to burn and want it for display on a nostalgia shelf or something..I'd stay away from it. The bottle of Men's Malibu Musk I have seems to have aged a lot better than the original/women's. I've tried several of the MM "type" oils out there, as well as the many smell-alike perfumes listed by others (Bond 9 Park Avenue South, Calyx, Sweet Lies) Honestly none smelled remotely like MM. Body chemistry is a weird thing, so please don't let that deter you from trying them though. One day I layered BPAL's Lightning with AB's Queen of Seduction and that was the closest I got to smelling a modern Malibu Musk :D I'm sure Acqua di Gioia would work as well, but my skin hates that one.

Every time I smell this it reminds me of my wife when we were young. She wore this and exclamation, but Malibu just has something extra about it, I can smell it a mile away. Wish I knew they were discontinuing it, when I smell it I feel like I am floating. I came here to buy it but all the links are expired or to ebay for a couple hundred dollars! Bought an old bottle from ebay for her birthday for $130, but it was rotten, smelled like it for about 10 seconds then is a weird old lady smell. But I FINALLY found a good dupe on etsy! I never had this because I wasn't cool enough and my mom wouldn't buy it for me! One of my friends had it in the body spray can and I would bum some off her. This was when I was like 10 or 11 and I'm 36 now so it was all new. I owned a gift set of sprays by "Parfums de Coeur Designer Imposters" and I can't even remember what ones. I do remember "Malibu Musk" though! It was quite distinctive and I longed for a can of my own but I didn't get it. After that I had the dreaded "Ex`cla-ma`tion" and by 1993 It was lovely "Vanilla Fields" and the horrific "Sunflowers" Ah, good times and the stench of teen!

This was a fun, summery, drugstore scent, that came out in 1989 when I was in High School, and was very popular in the 90s. Whoever owned this probably also owned Ex’clamation, Tribe or Camp Beverly Hills. This had an 80s fruity musk (not white musk) mixed with floral scent, and settled down to a musky floral scent. Unfortunately it’s been discontinued, and these body sprays and drugstore perfumes from the past don't age well at all and not worth the crazy EBay prices. But if you are craving this, perfume-oils.com has a dupe that’s actually pretty good.

On a whim I bought a rollerball perfume online from Hot Topic called Sweet Lies. I liked the rainbow hued skull bottle, that it was mini, and that it was $4 on sale and $5 regularly priced. The notes didn't sound like anything special, but it was hardly an investment. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived to find that it was a perfect dupe for my old favorite Malibu Musk. The bottle is adorable even if the roller sucks. Still... Such fun to be 13 at summer camp again. Highly recommend Sweet Lies if you loved Malibu Musk.

This was a staple in my 14 year old perfume collection. It was Malibu Musk, Primo, Tribe, Exclamation and the set of all 5 Love's fragrances( baby soft, soft jasmine, soft musk, lemon and rain). My friends envied and often sampled my collection. If I had known these treasures would not be available in the future, I would have kept them under lock and key and not even used them myself. ..lol

I smelled Clinique Calyx a few days ago, and it reminded me not at all of MM. I disagree with the comparison to Calvin Klein Escape, also. I saw a commenter that bought Malibu 1989, a copy from the Etsy seller cradlethesoul183. I just got it today and so far, it's the closest thing I've smelled to Malibu Musk. This one is a little more aldehydic than fruity, but it's definitely giving.

Just the other day, I was in Dollar General picking up some groceries. I walked down the toiletries aisle, and saw a new body spray on the shelf. It is called Riptide for Women in the "Sunshine" version. I picked it up and smelled it, and it really reminded me of MM!!! Not a complete dupe, but very, very close in my opinion! I bought a can because it does remind me so much of it!

This is one of the scents of my childhood. I must have bought a body spray from this brand every time I went to a store with my mom. I had quite the collection back then. lol Malibu Musk was a fun fragrance. Kind of fresh floral and a little fruity. Very linear. What you smell is what you get. It didn't last long so you always had to respray after a few hours.

Oh my gosh I am glad to see this in the data base. I had it. It was a very inexpensive yet alluring drug store scent. I am trying so hard to recall how it smelled. I remember it was different and very good. Nothing offensive. Heck no to the seller on bebay for the $250 aerosol spray bottle on Ebay. Dream on!

Malibu Musk was my favorite fragrance when I was like 10 years old. :p I believe it's still sold at my local Walmart. It's not something I'd ever wear now lol, but the scent definitely holds a lot of youthful memories.

Ralph by Ralph Lauren is an updated version of this. Apples, peaches, soft florals, grassy notes, light woods and musk. This was a nice drugstore fragrance.

This conjures up the memory of the Chicago Bulls.. during the 3peat era. Also, Starter jackets. I was a young kid and it was early/mid 90s.

Two reviews for Bond No 9 Park Avenue South, stated it reminded them of Malibu Musk.
