Built around a contrast of sweetness and shadow, it suggests a composition that balances smooth gourmand elements with resinous woods and spice, projecting confidence rather than subtlety. It sits firmly in that space where elegance meets intensity, setting expectations for both character and performance before it ever touches skin. Let’s take the reins and see how Carlisle asserts itself once worn. Opening: The opening is sweet, fruity, and spicy. The most prominent notes are osmanthus, vanilla, nutmeg, and green apple, with osmanthus and vanilla immediately setting the tone. From the first moments, the fragrance carries a striking resemblance to tobacco-forward compositions such as Mancera's Red Tobacco and Argos' Triumph of Bacchus. Despite the absence of an actual tobacco note, the osmanthus reads as a dried tea leaf accord that convincingly mimics the texture and tone of tobacco. This illusion is reinforced by a generous dose of sweet vanilla, which deepens the warmth and richness of the opening. Green apple plays a significant role as well, injecting a bright, juicy freshness that further strengthens the comparison to Triumph of Bacchus, which shares a similarly prominent green apple note. Lastly, nutmeg rounds out the opening with a warm, aromatic spiciness that adds depth without overwhelming the sweeter elements. Osmanthus and it's accompanied tobacco-like accord remains present but subdued, allowing the balsamic qualities to take center stage. As the fragrance continues to settle, opoponax becomes increasingly prominent, steering the composition toward a darker, more resinous finish. Performance: Projection during the first hour is extremely strong, easily filling a room and leaving a heavy scent trail. After three to four hours, projection remains robust at around six feet, with sillage still clearly noticeable. By the seven to eight hour mark, projection reduces to roughly arm’s length, while the scent trail becomes faint but perceptible. The fragrance transitions into a skin scent shortly thereafter. Overall, performance is powerful in the opening and mid-wear, tapering off more quickly toward the end. When to Wear: Carlisle is best suited for fall and winter wear, particularly in the evening. Its warm, cozy nature makes it an excellent choice for special occasions and it can also be dressed up for formal settings when applied conservatively. However, it does not lend itself well to casual wear and would be overwhelming in an office environment. Blind Buy: For those who enjoy fragrances in the style of Triumph of Bacchus, Red Tobacco, or Boss Bottled Absolu, Carlisle would be a relatively easy blind buy from a scent profile perspective. That said, given its premium price point, sampling beforehand is still advisable to ensure it truly earns a place in your collection. Final Verdict: Carlisle proved to be a fragrance that benefited greatly from being worn on skin rather than judged at first sniff. What initially left me unimpressed in a department store setting revealed itself to be a beautifully constructed and compelling scent once given proper wear time. It stands as one of Parfums de Marly’s more impressive offerings, delivering richness, depth, and undeniable presence. Ultimately, the deciding factor for me comes down to redundancy. The similarities to Triumph of Bacchus, which I already own, are simply too strong, and while Carlisle is excellent in its own right, the nuances and balance of Triumph of Bacchus align more closely with my personal taste. As a result, Carlisle does not earn a place in my collection, but it remains a standout release from the house and one that fully deserves its reputation and acclaim. Carlisle is absolutely stunning. This is personality in a bottle; it's bold, complex, and magnetic. It’s my third favorite from Parfums de Marly, right behind Oajan and Pegasus, and it’s honestly not far behind them. Carlisle is dark, spicy, and luxurious with a slightly mysterious edge. It’s not for everyone, but if it clicks with you, it really clicks. The opening is where people are divided. Personally, I think it gets better and better the longer it sits on skin. The apple note up top is one of the only things I don’t love. It's just not my favorite note in perfumery, and here it comes off a little too sharp and synthetic. But the nutmeg and patchouli come through early, keeping the apple from dominating too long. Once it dries down, it transforms into this deep, creamy patchouli with a slightly dirty, almost chocolate-like richness. The vanilla blends in seamlessly, softening the patchouli and giving it a velvety smoothness. The nutmeg keeps things spicy and warm, so the base never feels muddy or overly dense. And then there’s the rose. It's not a major player, but just enough to lift the composition and add some contrast. Rose and patchouli is one of my favorite combos in perfumery, and even in the background, it makes a difference. The tonka brings in a sweet creaminess that ties the whole thing together. Every element feels like it’s doing its job, and nothing feels out of place by the time it settles. This is best saved for special occasions or dressed-up nights in cooler weather. It’s not the kind of thing you casually throw on with a hoodie. You could get away with wearing it casually, but it shines when you give it some intention. The performance is absolutely incredible. It’s not beast mode in the traditional sense. Yes, it goes strong for over 12 hours and clings to clothes for days, but the real standout is how long it keeps floating through the air. Most fragrances start to hug the skin after a few hours. Not this one. Carlisle refuses to stay quiet. Even 12 hours in, you’ll catch real wafts of it — not nose-to-skin, but actual lingering trails in the air as you move around. You don’t get that with many fragrances. Projection starts strong, with at least a 7-foot radius for the first 3 hours, and then slowly begins to mellow, but it takes its time. And even when you think it’s finally calmed down, it surprises you again an hour later with another little burst in the air. It just keeps showing up until about the 15-hour mark; only then does it finally calm down and settle into a skin scent. But this isn’t a safe blind buy. The patchouli-heavy base and subtly sweet, spiced character lean dark. Like, pitch black dark. It’s rich, bold, and might be too intense for some, so if you don't know what patchouli smells like, try this on skin before buying it. But if you’re like me and you love patchouli, Carlisle is one of the best takes on it out there. In..credible! Update: 1-12-2026 After an official wearing out and multiple wearings at home. Carlisle is a smooth operator. Layton is great and I was originally leaning towards Herod for it's tobacco but found Carlisle to give me both with less sweetness. Picture the meeting of these three. Carlisle, looking at Layton and Herod from the shadows, bantering each other and boasting in themselves. Standing there, they still unaware of his presence. He lights his cigar momentarily illuminating a portion of his face. Now only the glow of his cigar is seen as he takes a draw. Carlisle, stepping from the shadows, cigar still lit say of their boasting, "That's sweet now let me show you boys how a man does it". Carlisle is him. Update: 1/25/2026 Some people find this opening challenging or sharp. There isnt a part of this fragrance that I have to overcome in order to enjoy its "better parts". For me Carlisle is perfect! And when I say perfect I dont mean flawless. But complete. It's not too sweet, too earthy, too woody, too vanillic. It isn't too anything. It's just right. When I said this is a smooth operator thats exactly how it comes across to me. And that from the first spray only getting better from there. One of my favorite part is Carlisle's very pleasant tobacco smell. Whether it's an accord or actual tobacco and just isn't listed, I dont know. But it's there. Not dominanting, balanced with everything else, but (to my nose) unmistakably present. Another thing I experienced. When I first got it and sprayed it 1x I could smell it very clearly. Yet when I sprayed more I could barely detect it. By the third or fourth spray 90% of it was undetectable to me. it literally seemed to almost disappear. It sort of psychologically tricks you into spraying more. But I realized what was happening and stop spraying it. My ability ro precive it gradually returned. This is the first time I've experienced anosmia in a very obvious way. Your nose can really shut down and refuse to smell certain things. If I didn't know that nose blindness was a real thing I would've kept spraying, blowing out my receptors completely and probably sworn that this was either weak or that something was wrong with it. I haven't had that problem again. But I try to avoid spraying too close to the nose. And I've been able to smell it the whole time I have it on. My verdict on its strength? Carlisle is far from weak. I love it, one of my top two from the house. Also, Credit Quentin Bisch, he is the perfumer of this olfactory perfection.

I used Carlilse one day to pay some bills. (As a habit i layer it with Bianco Latte for that toasty vanilla hit) Walking up to the teller, it looked like he took a deep breath/inhale in and tilted his head down to the monitor as we went about the transaction he was really quiet (perhaps thats just his nature) I felt surely that my scent might have been too overwhelming or suffocating.. I was a little bit trying to make myself small since my scent was obviously overpowering me in my head. Anyway, after making the payment and before signing my signature he says to me something closely along the lines of " you smell really _really_ good." Out of instinct i start blathering about what it is even tho he didnt necessarily ask. (and then I forget the name of the freaking scent lol) happens all the time when I get complimented 😆 I rack my brains out trying to remember what I sprayed before leaving for the day and I remember I did aboiut 6-7 sprays of Carlisle throughout my different pulsepoints and then topped off with 3 spritz of bianco latte on the nape of my neck and each on my shoulders. (Which was around 9am and I got the compliment around 1pm so it had time to sit on my skin to dry down) I told him Carlisle is a vanilla patchouli type of scent with a little hit of tobacco (not listed in the notes) to me but maybe that's the blend of oppoponax, patchouli, and davana. He said he can sense a bit of tobacco but not the menthol cigarette tobacco scent, the actual pre processed tobacco. Its nice to sometimes bond over fragrance even with a perfect stranger. He did mention that it was the first thing he noticed when I walked up and he really appreciated the scent He seemed to find it as a nice comforting scent .i thought i might have oversprayed but it was perceived well thankfully. Thats how i know the blend is a quality one. We said our thanks and I was on my way. I always have a pleasant experience with this one i have not yet had the need to scrub it off as it settles well with my chemistry Not to mention it is a great layer too Smells very luxurious to me. This one is in my top 10 for sure..

OH MY GOD! Where do I begin? I am a flight attendant so I've smelled my fair share of perfumes/colognes in a confined space. And I have despised Dior Sauvage and Versace Eros for a long time now as a result. I was working to Paris in business class and I was getting ready to give out the menus for dinner. I walk by the first row and I IMMEDIATELY stopped, turned around and asked this elegant man in a suit what he was wearing and he said in his french accent "Ahhh yes its Carlisle" I said "I have no idea what that is but its the sexiest fragrance I have ever smelled in my life." He laughed and told me that he is the founder of a famous fragrance house called Parfums de Marly and that he was so glad I loved his scent. We chatted for a while inflight and every single time I went to serve him a drink, he could tell how in love I was with the scent. He asked me what hotel I was staying at and to write down my name for him. Usually I don't tell anyone where I am staying at for safety reasons. However, his accent, smell, and elegance convinced me. Later that day I wake up to someone knocking on my hotel door. Outside my door was a big HEAVY ASS bag on the floor. I bring it inside my room and I see it has 6 boxes of perfumes in it. I now own this gorgeous fragrance along with Layton, Layton Eclusif, Herod, and Habdan. Carlisle is my favorite. So I decided to make an account on here to share how I fell in love with this fragrance.

I just received my bottle of Carlisle in the mail and, holy wow, it is far and away the best fragrance PDM has made. I've seen a lot of discussion over which is better, Carlisle or Oajan, but I don't even think it's close. I own both. Full disclosure, I'm not into gourmands and Oajan smells like hot apple cider (some say apple pie, but I strongly disagree), so as a matter of taste, I love Oajan but Carlisle is way more complex and appealing to me. Carlisle is a commanding spicy, slightly sweet scent that is just so magnetizing and exudes with masculinity. And it's distinct -- it doesn't smell like every other cologne out there. I'd go so far as to say that it could fall into that genre of Middle Eastern fragrances, but it is so, so much more mass appealing than any of them. Even though Carlisle would probably be classified as a "heavier" scent more appropriate for cooler weather and evening wear, I think it's so distinguished and formal-worthy that it would be office appropriate year-round (I plan to test that theory, anyway). I've only been wearing it for a day and Carlisle is already in my Top 3. The only reason I might not make it my #1 is that in the mid, it's turning a little powdery, where I would prefer it to be a little more linear and maintain that spiciness (the opening is just that good), but I'll give it a fighting chance and see how it evolves the more I wear it.

It saddens me to know how wonderful this fragrance is. Only because I absolutely refuse to pay the $440 retail price and will probably shun the $360ish discounter price for this. Regardless of the product, I have a hard time justifying that level of costs. Yet, it is a masterpiece. I recently visited a department store which carried several "luxury" brands. Creed, Initio, Bond No. 9, PDM, TF and more. I spend some time looking at and sampling different products over a two day period. There were only 3 that stood out for me out of the dozens I tried. Bond No. 9 NoMad, Creed Queen of Silk, and PDM Carlisle. Carlisle was by far the most impressive. I kept that test strip with me and checked it several times throughout the day. Each time was rewarding. It was even the most preferred item for my wife. So there it is, one fantastic fragrance we both agree on. It is concerning with some recent reviews about longevity problems. If I ever decide to fork over that type of cash, I would hope it lasts for many hours. It lasted several on a test strip. I know skin chemistry can muddy things. It would be so disappointing if I bought a bottle and needed to reapply throughout the day. For now, I will appreciate the experience and look into other options. Hats off PDM. Carlisle is a masterpiece for me.

I’m quite partial to oriental, spicy scents—thats just my cup of tea. The spices are balanced by the vanilla & tonka bean and I think this is masterfully crafted. I have never smelled Red tobacco but fragcomm is saying this resembles that... if you enjoyed that you may like this. You can just look at the note breakdown and tell this is for colder times of the year. On my skin this radiates like crazy when it’s cold out. To me, it’s so well blended that not one note stands out sharply over the other. I want to say there are leather notes here but i’m Not sure. Sometimes it also reminds me of the dry down in Ombre Leather by TF. Basically parts of Carlisle are fruity and almost animalic to me(like Ombre Leather)but not over powering or stinky. Now, I quite like that but I do need to be in the mood and right setting for it. It’s a strong niche quality performer with kind of a designer mass appeal to the scent. This is not blind buy safe though just like Red tobacco probably isn’t blind buy safe either. I do strongly recommend Carlisle but you need to like those dark mysterious fragrances. You also should be more mature I don’t see a teenager wearing this. Try it out around this Holliday season it’s very pleasing and likable just not versatile—and I'm ok with that. Cheers! 10/10

The greatest men’s fragrance ever made. It opens with a sweetness that almost leans into feminine territory, but there’s something incredibly reassuring about it. It feels like meeting someone for the first time and being shown only their best qualities. You can feel that sense of trust immediately, but there’s always a quiet suspicion in the back of your mind. And eventually, you realize that suspicion was right. Beneath that sweet mask, there’s something much darker. The darkness doesn’t reveal itself all at once. It doesn’t hit you like a blade. It creeps in slowly, building intensity little by little. Normally, a fragrance opens loud and powerful, then softens into sweetness. Carlisle does the exact opposite. By this point, we have nothing in common with that sweet opening anymore. Now you’re standing in front of a man dressed in black, looking directly into his eyes—and there’s no fear in them. This man has no limits. And somehow, that feeling of confidence from the opening is still there. But now it’s no longer warm or comforting. It’s the unshakable confidence of a dangerous man—someone fully aware of exactly what he is. When you’re beside him, you know you’re safe. But the moment you walk away... to him, you become nobody.

I recently tried Parfums De Marly Carlisle, and I’m absolutely in love with it! The fragrance is a beautiful, well-balanced blend that features a delightful combination of green apple, patchouli, and vanilla. The green apple adds a crisp, fresh note, while the patchouli brings an earthy depth that is perfectly complemented by the warm, comforting vanilla. The vanilla is prominent but never overpowering or cloying, striking the perfect balance between sweetness and sophistication. What’s even more exciting is how this fragrance reminds me of Rochas Moustache EDP, which I adore. Both perfumes share a similar richness and warmth, but Carlisle adds its own unique twist with the fresh green apple. It’s a perfect choice for someone who enjoys a refined, yet approachable scent that can be worn both casually and for special occasions. Blind buy worthy, will buy a full bottle when I get a chance, safe to wear in formal environments including meetings, longevity is a strong 7-9 hrs. I'm not a fan of just beast mode fragrances, so my ratings are based on how good the scent profie is.

What i get from this is the apple pie feeling from oajan mix with the smoky resinious apple crumble of habdan and the dessert like kulfi note in tom ford noir extreme. The final result is absolutely intoxicating. Its sweet warm spicy fruity dark boozy smooth gorumand fragrance made for winter and fall. Carlise has that beautiful pdm dna (warm sweet wood patchouli combo) but the davana gives this fragrance a liquorice feel that is unique to this pdm which i really like.Laslty performance is insane, the strongest from.the house even stronger and thicker than oajan Scent 10 out of 10 Projection 9 out of 10 Longevity 9 out of 10 My Current top 5 pdm favorites 1)carlisle 2)herod 3)godolphin 4)habdan 5)oajan

So I was able to get a completely full bottle of this with full presentation for only $200 from facebook marketplace. Huge steal for this incredibly exclusive fragrance. I fell in love with it when I smelled it in store and was so excited to see such a legit deal. Anyways, this is Saudi prince vibes. Instantly makes me think of royalty, old castles, silk robes, etc. it’s such a dark and mysterious scent while also having this sweetness that’s not quite sweet. This scent is like what I thought Royal oud by creed would smell like. This scent is a 10/10, the performance is fckin nuclear, I put half a spray on and smell it all day. You could really fuck your day up by putting on too much of this. So my 125ml bottle will last an eternity lol The only problem I have with this one... it’s too royal smelling for casual wear, it almost feels off to wear this with anything but a suit and tie, but regardless I do, all the time. PDM has some underwhelming fragrances. But this and Layton , are absolutely stunning 10s.

A rare fragrance that truly checks every box. It opens with a stunning blend of crisp apple and saffron, wrapped in a fresh, earthy patchouli that adds just enough darkness and mystery without becoming overly earthy. As the fragrance develops, that earthiness quickly softens, allowing a beautiful rose and sweet tonka bean to take center stage. In the dry down, a rich, creamy vanilla envelops the entire composition, creating a smooth and addictive finish where the apple, rose, patchouli, and vanilla become the stars of the show. The other notes are still present, but they play a supporting role. The performancae is just as impressive as the scent itself. It lasts 7–8 hours on my skin with excellent projection, making it an outstanding choice for fall and winter. This is the kind of fragranace that draws positive attention the moment you walk into a room—confident, mascauline, and effortlessly refined. I don't hand out "amasterpiece" ratings often, but this one has earned it. It's an easy 10/10.

To be completely honest. This fragrance is sweet allll the way through. It is this powerhouse of vanilla, amber and patchouli. Thankfully I love delicious sweet fragrances so this was perfect! It is so seductive and makes you close your eyes and just sigh from how damn good it smells. Very masculine. And the performance? Outstanding. Sillage? Huge. Longevity? 12+ hours easy. This is a super strong fragrance. If you are spraying clothes, be aware they may continue to smell. They will smell amazing but they will still smell after multiple washes. The only downside I can think of is that since it is so strong and sweet that it may be headache inducing. Go light with the sprays on this trust me 2-3 at most no more or you will fill an entire room believe me. I absolutely adore this scent and this will cut through negative degree weather like its nothing. Mostly a winter fragrance but can be worn late fall as well. 10/10 delicious edible powerhouse of a fragrance.

Carlisle is the most intoxicating, balanced fragrance I have ever smelt. It's fruity, spicy, boozy, woody, smoky, rich, smooth, sweet, resinous...it's everything I want in a fragrance. To top it off, it lasts forever on my skin and projects like a beast. I've sampled so many fragrances out there but nothing comes close to Carlisle. Carlisle will be my signature scent for life! If you're having problems with the performance of your Carlisle check whether it's legit. I see so many fake bottles out there that look so real but certain things give it away eg 1/Googly eyes on the 2 horses that protrude out. 2/ The name "Carlisle" disappears when you put the bottle into the packaging base. Real Carlisle bottles proudly display its name well above the base it sits in. 3/ I have over 4 bottles of the 81% Carlisle with various years of production and they all perform at least over 8 hours. If you only get a few hours I would think your bottle is fake.

Wow. I own 10 PDMs now, mostly freshies, but Haltane was the first I bought, after a lot of consideration, and it quickly became my date night scent. Much later down the line I decided to give Althair a go, they both fill the same space for me, Cold Evening scents. Haltane is special, Althair is more mass appealing but still lovely, and with those two, I didn't feel the need for another scent in the same space... Then I tried Carlisle... And just wow. Obviously it's subjective, and this is a strong scent, but this is a masterpiece for me, in the same tier as Haltane. Its absolutely phenomenal, it starts off a bit smokey before some of the fruitiness starts to come through, but keeps the smokey backbone, settling into a more almost smokey creamy woody scent. Definitely worth a try!

This is the one. This is the fragrance that set the bar for me. I will cherish it forever. There are a few fragrances that I love, and several that have made strong impressions for various different reasons. But when I experienced this fragrance for the first time, I knew it was the one. This is the dragon is will chase. Masculine, potent, sweet enough and the perfect amount of rose for me. This is my special event scent. The nutmeg and apple are warm and comforting, and the vanilla in the dry down is lovely with the patchouli and accompanying notes. I am not usually a fan of rose in men's fragrance and vanilla is often a miss nowadays (the designer vanillas are dire). But here, it all comes together perfectly for my tastes. One day I will discover my hot weather equivalent!

Love this! On a cold day - this just makes me happy. Dense nutmeg, patchouli, leather and vanilla. Initially I didn't like it as much as other PDM offerings, because the nutmeg opening is pretty strong and intense, but more and more I kept reaching for this, and it is now my cold weather FAVOURITE. The fragrance lasts all day but becomes softer and sweeter over time as the spices fade down. Its admittedly expensive - but worth it because I know I love it. Even rocking the current (81%) concentration, It is very strong - no complaints. I did initially purchase a fake bottle of Carlise online so they're definitely out there... They Identifiable features on the fake bottle were the font of the moulded text, the fit of the lid, and the quality of the paint.

I ordered the feminine discovery set which comes with a complimentary sample, so I choose carlisle blindly. I knew it was on the masculine side so i thought I would gift it to my brother in law. Nope. I'm keeping it for myself. I fell into perfumery in 2009 when passing the Guerlain shop in Las Vegas. The attendant spritzed me w/ Bois D'Armenie and sent me on my way. That night, and into the next morning, I kept getting wisps of this luscious, vanilla-like woody goodness. I was hooked for life an the art form known as 'perfumery'. I'm not saying Carlisle smells like Bois D'Armenie but it creates the same emotional experience. So much so that I may have to buy ...

I really like this scent but out of all my PDMs I wear it the least. It is very rich and heavy. Amazing for a date night in winter or formal events. Smells very expensive and powerful with a heavy patchouli dominance. Honestly I don’t think I will get through the bottle as it’s so limited where I can wear it. Boss bottled absolu is 80% similar so if I wasn’t a collector I would probably just get that as it’s also 1/3 of the price. I would still give Carlisle an 8/10 as it is a great scent and absolute beast mode performance. Loses marks for price and versatility but lasts all day and can even smell it on clothes 24h later.

fell in love off the first sniff and could've potentially taken my signature spot, but i was having performance issues. took home a sample and wore it the next day, but it didn't really last on me. tried again the next day and the performance was still not what i was expecting from pdm. i'd say it lasted something like 2-3 hrs before i had to dig my nose into my wrist to find this scent. idk, i'm new to perfumery, so is this just a me thing? i know a lot of fragrance performance for people differ due to differences in body chemistry, but i was wondering if people were also having similar issues with carlisle.

Yeah, It doesn't get any better than this for me. Carlise hits the perfect spot where I feel bold, confident but also sweetly envelopped in a bubble of a sweet addictive scent. When I get a whiff I can't help but smile at myself for how good it smells, and how great it makes me feel. If I want to be focused and confident it enhances it. If I want to feel relaxed and peaceful, it enhances it as well. That's crazy to me and it's exactly what I want to experience when wearing fragrance. The sillage is marvelous Could still smell it on me the day after, and it's eternal on clothes. Carlisle hits my soul fr.

My second favourite Parfums de Marly fragrance after Layton, and let me just say it’s absolutely amazing. A very masculine and powerful fragrance, spiced crisp green apple contrasts with patchouli darkness and smooth vanilla. It’s a sexy scent that’s really moreish. This isn’t a bargain basic fragrance, you can really smell the quality in it. The comparisons to Red Tobacco are honestly insulting. I used to own that fragrance and the dirty tobacco note was far too overwhelming, the blend felt poor and low quality. Carlisle is on a completely different level — smoother, richer, and a hundred times better.

Carlisle opens like a lion stretching. Its nutmeg, ambery mane waking up the senses before launching into a sweet vanilla roar. I'm not overly familiar with opoponax, but it's a sweet resin, and along with the patchouli and tonka bean plays a big part in the dry down and almost comes across as a sweet, soft tabaco. It is intoxicating, but I get how some may find it cloying. A confident, dark, masculine scent, that comes across "golden" in profile, it's longevity leaves an impression, but does not overly project. Suitable for a fancy date night, suave dinner, or whenever you want to feel rather debonair.

Carlisle is not a shower, but a grower. Carlisle can be a turn off at first sight, it opens a bit too medicinal with the nutmeg, saffron, and rose being the prominent notes. However, this fragrance becomes one of the sexiest and most alluring fragrances ever made as it sits on your skin. Carlisle ages like fine wine, it truly blossoms in about an hour, the vanilla and patchouli takes over, with a hint of the notes from open still detectable, but on the background. This version of Carlisle is guaranteed to get you laid... more likely with a guy

Imagine a fall cinnamon/apple air freshener on steroids in the best way possible! The apple in here paired with the resins and spices is absolutely gorgeous. Longevity is beastly, sillage is great (not nuclear, which is a plus in my book), and is a compliment monster! That being said, the first time I sampled it I wasn't the biggest fan. It has that play-doh smell that some resin/amber rich fragrances tend to have, but as my nose developed more of the apple came through. Definitely something for those a bit farther in your fragrance journey.

Carlisle, one of my first loves in niche perfumery. Strong, masculine and yet at the same time, comforting, very smooth. I would say this is one of PDM's more niche offerings, which may be able to justify it's high price. Certainly a dark smell, worn on dark clothes on a date, inviting a closer sniff. I got compliments on this, but I don't think it is a monster projector. Don't blind buy though, as I do think it may not be for everyone. I do think Oajan is safer and sweeter. Scent:9/10 Longevity: 10/10 Projection: 7/10 Value: 4/10

It's hard to explain this fragrance. It's sweet and spicy in the opening with the nutmeg, apple and a bit of tobacco but after a bit it turns really dirty and masculine with patchouli and leather. Vanilla comes only a bit in the drydown. It's a really masculine and dark fragrance, not for kids who wear jpg swy or those 15yo fragrances. This is a super villain fragrance, after u spray this u have a dark aura, the sky gets gray and all the flowers die when u walk outside.

Got a old 2020 batch. I have not tested new bottle to tell you the difference, but i really love this parfume. The patchouli is so damn good. A worthy buy even if you are worried about new batch old batch talk. Just get it, it is solid. Honestly wear it anywhere in any weather. I feel like a boss with this, and it shall stay that way. Edit: i do feel like the performance could be a little better. Only because i love it so much, i want it to stay around longer.

The year is 2022 and I am at a Halloween party wearing Carlisle. I do my typical 4 spray routine 2 neck 2 wrists. This girl had to of been at least 5 feet away from me sitting and looked at me and covered her nose and said "That is too strong its burning my nose". I laughed about it but she literally got up and moved her chair to the other side of the room and I was like sheesh is it that bad? No one else complained. Other than that, it was a nice scent to me

After trying many samples I didn't expect that anything from PdM would impress me, but this one is super good. Love the fruitiness at the start, really gives an impression of an apple. Also, it's very boozy, reminds me of rum. It's not a "patchouli bomb" like some people suggest (go sniff something like Jovoy Psychedelique, now that's patchouli bomb), its well blended with vanilla and tonka bean in the drydown.I strongly prefer this over Red Tobacco.

Tonka bean with texture. Teeny rose and apple for brightness. Saffron for body smoothed out by vanilla. Some greeness to stop it being linear. Interesting - a lot of people have voted this as similar to Carolina Herrera Mystery Tobacco - my fave tobacco scent and yet I never made the connection till now!!! Yes it’s remarkably similar except there’s tobacco in it and the ginger opening is resplendent. Beautiful scent as only PDM would do it!

this is by far the best fragrance in my collection worth every penny, also best blind buy, this is what heaven should smells like, i have many nieche but carlisle is in another level nothing smells like it, quality top notch, new formula 2023 "Vol 81%" performs like a beast easy 12h+ and i swear this beast still projects strong till the other day "this is for ppl saying sh** about new formula" Carlisle for me easy 15 out of 10

A very deep and dark fragrance that you would put on in a formal or special occasion. It holds a dominant green apple scent yet sophisticated and mystery vibe, contrary to other fresh green apple perfumes. The projection is quite decent and it lasts for up to 7 hours on my skin. Definitely not a safe blind-buy as its heaviness may offend some, though for more mature men this would be an incredible choice. Rating: 9/10

Funny I don't really get dark and brooding with this one, rather warm, elegant, leather chairs, cigars and brandy type of vibes. Very patchouli and tonka forward, it's really awesome. To me this is the most dressed up fragrance out of the whole PdM line, I'd put it in the same broad category as DHI or Tuxedo. Definitely not an everyday pick, but a special occasion banger. I look forward to buying a full bottle soon.

It's nice sweet scent, yet not so sweet that it is feminine. I've gotten tired of writing long reviews, because I can only say what I like or don't, and my reasons why. I very much like this, but hate the prices charged by PDM. I swear they price it so high, just to appear like they are so luxurious. They have some very great drops. I think they could cut prices in half and end up with the same if not more profit.

This is a 10/10 scent. When I first got a decant I was pretty new to fragrances so the spicyness threw me off at first. However, after trying a few different things and letting it sit for a while, this is truly a delicious complex scent. It smells like a rich apple pie with the patchouli and rose giving it more nuance. I would wear this everyday if I could; it is both comforting while exuding power and elegance.

HO-LY-SMOKES!!! I've heard people raving about this for a while now so had my expectations way out of this world. Blind bought this bad boy and DAAAAAAMN! The rumours are true...this thing blew me away. Dark, mysterious, seductive, heck I may even rock this in the dead of summer, it just smells that good! You owe it to yourself to put your nose on this. Big time banger from a fantastic house.

This is a perfect dark and mysterious perfume almost too perfect. I tried this in the store a few time to make sure I'm not mistaken but evry time I like it even more. I don't kniw how I get some tobacco in it which I really like and adds more depth too it. Carlisle reminds me of a much better version of red tobacco. Such a great perfume. I wonder if there is any good dupe of Carlisle.

Carlisle is a Patchouli forward, dark, oriental spicy fragrance. Very grown up, sophisticated, classy smell. To me it stands a part from PDM's other "great for winter/ mass appealing" scents as a fragrance that has more of a special occasion vibe to it. That being said, it's probably the least versatile of PDM's Winter Beast squad but also probably one of the Best.

Weak sauce but still a dark, beautiful and handsome scent, but it is expected since pdm shamelessly reformulated their lineup. With maybe the exception of layton and pegasus exclusif. Try hugo boss bottled absolu instead. It offers beastly performance instead of carlisle's 4 hour max and is in the same style of carlisle if not better, due to the price difference.

One of my fav scents year round. the reviews and "reminds me of" literally have 0 value now and couldn't be more wrong. herpa derpa i see tobacco i upvote tobacco scent.... this is nothing like the normal tobac scents. pls try for urself if ur interested. do not trust fragrantica about anything. bots, shill, and 10iq have taken over all reviews.

I swear this smells like tobacco shortly after spraying. Crazy it isn't in the notes. Anyway, this scent is amazing and there are so many layers to it that I find myself always catching random wafts of it exciting me. It is so comfy and warm and it's not cloying in its sweetness. I will always have a bottle of this on hand. 10/10 on all fronts.

Dark semi-Sweet masterpiece. This is more of an older gentleman/acquired taste but that Patchouli flower, tobacco and vanilla combo is genius. The drydown is so warm and sexy. This Smells like a Male chef with a beard and big forarms; who’s in the kitchen making a dark cherry pie while smoking a cigar. 10/10 cold weather or date night scent

Carlisle is my signature scent, this is so good (to me at least) I bought 3 bottles of this. Are newer batches worth the price? No. If you find any batch older than 2020, yes! A manly semi-gourmand perfume that projects really well, smells like heaven and lasts long! The notes listed are accurate, but definitely give it a smell first.

My top 3, this is so good, mysterious, but so easy to wear. Also Carlisle is compliment magnet, everyone likes it. Performance is also amazing, i usually go with 5-7 sprays, you can go less, no problem, will perform amazing. All in all this fragrance is a reputation maker, so worth buying. For me it is 10 out of 10 fragrance.

Beautiful fragrance! If you liked Layton but thought it was for a younger man, you need to try Carlisle. Absolutely beautiful, and the performance is monstrous. One spray filled my entire house. Classic, sexy, one of the last niche fragrances from Parfums De Marly. Dark, spicy, and sweet. Not blind buy safe! 9/10
