Parfums de Marly Greenley opens with a crisp, fresh green apple note supported by bright citrus, creating a clean and slightly tart profile that feels airy and smooth rather than sharp. There is an immediate clean musky presence that softens the edges and gives the scent a slightly “cloudy” texture, resulting in an overall impression similar to a high-quality apple shower gel with a subtle green edge. As it develops, the apple quickly moves into the background while a musky-woody core takes over, supported by soft green facets that add a leafy freshness. The texture becomes denser and more blended, losing some of the opening’s crispness in favor of a smoother, more diffused composition. Into the drydown, the fragrance settles into a modern woody-ambroxan profile with a slight warmth and a hazy texture, while faint green elements continue to provide subtle contrast. The apple note largely disappears, leaving behind a clean, musky, and woody scent that is consistent and easy to wear. Overall, this is a high-quality fragrance with a pleasant and clean profile, though the apple-forward opening can feel somewhat common, reminiscent of apple body wash, which may not justify the price for some. The drydown is the strongest aspect, offering a smooth and enjoyable woody finish, but compared to alternatives like Parfums de Marly Sedley, both the opening and drydown may feel less compelling. Longevity is moderate at around 6 hours. 8/10

One of the most complex fragrances to love I’ve come across. I love it now, I loved it when I first smelled it, but it was a love hate in between. I got a sample after smelling it at a store, and when the sample arrived, I immediately loved it on that first wear. And then on subsequent wears my nose picked up a lot more woods and moss and a lot less sweetness and apple. Performance seemed weak, because I was looking for the fresh sweet apple and was just getting the woods and moss. I felt like the scent I loved was not there after a few wears. I decided I didn’t like it enough, but something kept me coming back tot he sample. After more wears, I got to understand the balance of this scent, and to appreciate the way it made me feel. It’s soft, sophisticated and classy to my nose. And as I wore my sample and started to run out, I thought I’d miss it if I ran out. I ended up realizing that despite the changes in expectations of what it was, I now love it for what I know it is. I’ve sampled 65 fragrances, and have just bought 10 out of those. This is one of them, and I love having it. But the road to loving it was unexpectedly complex for what most people deem a simple freshie. It’s not simple for me, and I don’t think I can find something like it other than clones. For me it’s worth it because it makes me feel in a unique way that none of my other bottles or samples do, but I can definitely see why it’s not for everybody.

Amazing scent! Easily the favorite of my collection. Such a sharp fresh apple that just hits you. Performance is amazing, though I feel that is a given with parfums de marly scents. To me this scents dry down has always very closely matched it opening, but that may vary. To tell a story about this fragrance, I was working at my job, not labor intensive or outside much so keep in mind I was mostly stationary, but a guest comes by, I help her out. Afterwords she tells me that she usually does not like the smell of men's cologne, but she just had to tell me that I smelt amazing. She was a older lady, around 65-75 in age. I want to say I was wearing five sprays, 1 to the left, right, and back of my neck, then 1 on both sides of my chest. This was 5 hours into my shift, plus the drive to work. We were separated by a table the entire time. I will say though whenever I have guests over to my house I sometimes have them smell some of my fragrances, and people either say they love it and its amazing or its nasty and I shouldn't wear it. Though honestly this fragrance should never be bought at full price, maybe not even discounter price, it is quite expensive and at some point, no matter how good the fragrance there becomes no justification to buy it at that price, it is just scented alcohol. If you're ok with dupes I would search for that, otherwise a discounter is a must. But ya amazing apple scent that smells electric.

I went to Nordstrom almost two years ago to test this house for the first time. Layton, Carlisle, Harod, Goldolfin etc the more celebrated ones, were just decent to me. While well executed, at the time I felt they lacked that sense of lively natural like quailty that I'd fallen in love with from my favorite house. But when I got to this one...wow! It had the houses dense signature base, but the overall scent itself came off as lighter and fresher and to my nose unique. Immediate love. Four made my to get list that day. This, Haltane, Percival and Sedley. Galloway and Kalan were strong likes as well. Acquired 3 of the 4 and ended up selling them all, using the funds to explore other fragrances. But I regretted letting Greenley go. I knew then I would eventually get another bottle. And I love it even more now. I've since grown more appreciation for PDM offerings as a whole, Herod, Galloway, Kalan and Carlisle have become loves also, but Greenley holds a special place because it was the first one that grabbed me. I personally don't desire for my fragrances to last eternally but I will say that this does lasts a very long time. I smell it for days on clothes. At that stage it's become more subtle yet clearly detectable. I try to replicate that effect by applying less. And it works. Love it!

I've owned Greenley for over a year and I'm writing this review because for the first time ever I am getting a new note and it's coming in strong, and it has given me a newfound appreciation of the scent. I've always known Greenley to be a bright green apple soapy fragrance and I've honestly loved it for that. It was surprisingly refreshing and it was always a favorite. But for the first time ever, maybe because my skin chemistry is different today, the woody notes are coming out strong- and it's making the fragrance itself incredible. I'm still getting the bright apple, but the wood and the musk are truly shining and I don't know what has changed. Currently, it's winter and maybe the weather is doing something to my skin. Maybe the fragrance has evolved. Or maybe it was my nose. All I'm saying is that you should always revisit fragrances after a while because there is always a new note to pick up when you come back to it. It reminds me of the Beatles. I could listen to a song so many times, but all of a sudden Paul's bass line will stand out to me, or a harmony I've never paid attention to, and the song I've always known will hit me with a new appreciation. That is Greenley right now for me. That is all. Loving this one right now.
