Habdan

HOLY SHIT one of my best blind-buys ever...This basically all the best PDMs in one It has the juicy apple from Carlisle and Layton, the creamy facets of carlisle, the dark powdery tobacco of herod (WITH the slight pooey vibe), and the warm resinous spices of Oajan. From the moment I smell it I directly associated it to Herod the most, it really feels like an elevated, sultry Herod flanker (with better performance) more than anything else, Its a more denser/ambery/warm spicey version of herod basically. But you can readily smell all the other PDMs in here. Literally my dream come true omfg. If you love the PDM dna and love all the men's PDMs, this is gonna be extremely hard to dislike. On the density/freshness scale it goes like Layton, Carlisle, Herod, Habdan, Oajan for me (this also reflects the spectrum of masculine to feminine with oajan being on the feminine end). As u can see Habdan falls into the more cold-season end bc of the ambery resins and spiciness, but the apple and saffron adds some freshness back and honestly id wear it anytime of the year Its attractive to smell on anyone bc its unisex leaning masculine but not too much. It has the perfect texture and consistency, and has the addictive qualities of all the other pdms thrown into one. I thought of getting this over a year ago but never got to it, I blind bought after all this time yesterday and it actually sickens me to know what I was missing hahaha. If you see my other reviews you'll know I wear carlisle with grand soir- a straight up warm spicey amber scent. Habdan is almost that in one bottle, a dark tobacco with warm spicey amber. I was literally wearing those two this whole time to recreate HABDAN??? (ofc theres no patchouli here which is the star in Carlisle but still ur nose really focuses all the similarities). I'm delighted this exists and I love the whole PDM range and each creation being similar with little tweaks to tend to every individual's preferences/vibe. Pdm and initio both are definitely my fav houses ever. And I hope we can continue to keep habdan the underrated secret. This is gonna end up being one of my signature scents i wear all year, and along with carlisle the only one I keep repurchasing

Another banger from Pdm!! I love Pdms, i own 5 of them, i tried almost every offering and i have to say that this brand delivers! They are getting some hate from the nichesnobs in the community that they are not inspired enough and smell like designers but i have to say that most of Roja, Xerjoff etc i own or tried (and i smelled a lot of them) are not challenging fragrances and a lot of them are "inspired" by designers. Habdan is a really beautiful and unique fragrance. It starts with a blast of fresh green caramel apple with spices and after a while the amber becomes the main player. It's an ambery, smokey scent with olibanum but this apple note difference this from anything i smelled before. It keeps it fresh and makes it more versatile, it's gourmand but not a full gourmand like many pdms. In the base there is a light woody base. I find similarities with other Pdm fragrances like the cinnamon-caramel in Oajan, the amber in Carlisle, the incense in Herod, the fresh spicy apple of Layton but it doesn't smell like any of them. Reviews say that it's close to Oajan but i don't aggre, there are similarities but it's differend and it has not this gourmand baklava scent of Oajan. Performance is good, not the best performing pdm but it's there. I get about 8-9 hours longevity and moderate projection. It's better suited for fall or winter but the freshness here makes it really versatile. I can imagine me wearing it in a cool summer night and be amazing! You can wear it day or night, everywhere, in the office if you control your sprays and it could be a signature scent. It's very unique but at the same time very easy to like, so it will get positive attention and compliments. Overall, i really love Habdan and enjoy wearing it. It has the complexity, the quality and the unique factor i look in a niche luxury fragrance. I love most of the fall and winter Pdm offerings and this is one of the best. A semi-gourmand, fruity, spicy, ambery, smokey, woody oriental that deserves more attention! Give this a try!

I forgot that I had a new bottle of Hadban downstairs in the Scent Armory (purchased this past Summer) waiting to be opened this Fall. It's like an early Christmas! Well, I opened it yesterday and wore it last night...and again this morning. First take is that it's really nice but it didn't grab me by the short-hairs and scream, "Take me home, sailor!" LOL! Don't get me wrong...Habdan is very nice but, like some have mentioned, Habdan cannot make up its mind whether it is a gourmand or a balsamic/incense fragrance. I should immediately love this one since I am a huge incense fan and not-so-much the sweeter fragrances. However, if I'm going to do a gourmand then I would rather jump right in and wear something like Dior Feve Delicieuse or, better yet, Hermes Ambre Narguile for that Dutch Apple Pie vibe. And if I want incense (frankincense, myrrh, etc.) then I'm apt to go with something like Tom Ford Sahara Noir, Montale Kabul Oud, Rouge Bunny Rouge Embers, Comme des Garcons Avignon, etc. Regardless, Habdan appears to have struck a really nice balance between an apple-pie vibe covered with caramel and brown sugar, while wrapped in a resinous/incense background with a whisper of saffron. Again, super nice...but too early to tell if this hits the right spot---for me---but I'm sure it's going to be well-received by others because it is ultra pleasing, ultra smooth, and a quality fragrance. Performance is solid on my skin in that it lasts 7-8 hours, but not as good as others I have from Parfums de Marly. Likewise, projection is average to slightly above-average. To be honest, it makes a perfect date/intimate fragrance for the Fall/Winter seasons. Update: I had a little more time to spend with Haban and I'm loving it more and more. Offhand, I would say that it is my 2nd favorite Parfums de Marly scent right behind Herod. Of course, I just cracked-open my bottle of Darley early this morning and loved it immediately. So many great perfumes from this house.

Unlike many reviews on this site, this is one where almost everybody is totally right. This was the first "niche" fragrance I ever purchased, and it totally changed the game for me as someone that was interested since my youth in designer fragrances. It was brand new at the time, and a rather pushy salesperson roped me in to smelling some. My brain could not register how beautiful these fragrances were, one after another. I was broke at the time, and my thought was, well, no better time than to burn my last few bucks on something to cheer me up, it was so expensive and so illogical, just the thing to shake things up. This fragrance not only inspired an obsession, but many years later, is still one of the best of all time, amidst a growing collection and countless sniffing trips to the shops. It's so good, criminally un-talked-about, it doesn't last very long however, and apparently doesn't impress others. It's like the cinematic masterpiece Children Of Paradise, I can't believe people don't get it, but it gives me so much satisfaction that some group of artists somewhere made this for me to enjoy. One of a few perfumes that makes me actually feel quite special, not just smelling nice. A magical blend of sweet, spicy and animal. Incredible. Update 2022: I got my first bottle of this in 2014, wrote my review looks like in 2021. Still in my top 5. I have enough experience now to pick out notes. The body of this scent is a rich, authentic, luxurious saffron unlike any I have found in another fragrance. The base is a modern sandalwood, crisp and dry. The rose note is distant, and the gourmand aspect of caramel and apple, given a green boost by a touch of patchouli, yields a faint spearmint. The image I get very strongly in my mind is the smell of spearmint gum in the pocket of a black leather jacket worn by a chic woman that wears sandalwood perfume. Smells feminine to me but I wear it without reservation.

Habdan! One of my favorite fragrances! An absolutely classy and refined gentleman's fragrance of amazing quality, skill and sophistication. A Masterpiece. I would classify it as an amber, spicy and fruity fragrance. It has that PDM DNA (sweet, clean, smooth and long lasting) as well as being fresh, dry and soft. The opening treats you to beautiful apple acetates that give it it's freshness smoothed out by the dry sweet and elegant resinous sweetness complemented by the soft and cool metallic spiciness of saffron that blends seemlessly with the woody and resionus core. In terms of notes Habdan smells of myrhh, green apple, olibanum, saffron and soft unburnt caramel backed up by a smooth woody base. The resins elevate the fragrance and give it a ''spiritual dymension'' that make it quite ethereal and heavenly. It doesn't change too much but it radiates softly throughout it's duration of about 8 hours. Don't expect a beast mode fragrance because it isn't it. This is a signature fragrance for a man of exquisite taste, that knows what he wants and isn't trying to get other people's approval. It's a very unique fragrance that resonates with me deeply. The fragrance epitomises the ideal of masculine nobility. It's suitable for all season although it suits best to autumn and is too soft and delicate for winter. Nontheless I would wear it even in summer for a more formal and sophisticated occasion. It would be an amazing office fragrance for a more sophisticated man in a high position. I think it is absolutely worth the price. The amount of naturals and high quality of ingredients coupled with the skill of the perfumer as well as good performance make it worth the money.

What a gorgeous, unique fragrance! I really dig this green apple and frankincense combination. I’d say best time to wear something like this would be autumn time. Wonderful transitional fragrance. Perfumes that are of the similar vibrations are; Brioni edp intense, Argos fall of phaeton, and Imaginary Authors slow explosions. It’s in that wheel house. I get good longevity about 6-7 hours and closer to skin projection. Silage is a little better. If you going to be buying this I would recommend buying the newer version with the silver writing and cap. Seems like they read the reviews and reformulated it to actually be stronger than the older gold bottles. Yeah you will spend a little more money on the newer one but it’s worth it.. I sampled both forms before making my purchase. Also there is something in this that reminds me of freshly laid tile. That clean almost soapy wet cement smell is the combo of very well blended green apple and frankincense. Very high quality synthetics were used in this. I’d really like to know the mystery perfumer. All in all I give this fragrance and current new formula a 8.5 out of 10. Very good. 👍 worth a. Sample if your into fruity incense frags. Leans masculine by 80/20. Sophistication in a bottle. Ps: please if your leaving a review state what bottle you have so new people know what formula your speaking of thanks. (Reviews are mixed because both formulas have some differences)..

Far from dissatisfied with this one. I now have 10 from the house of Parfum de Marly, recently acquiring Habdan along with Pegasus Exclusif, which I was more excited to possess, but I haven’t even wore it since I keep reaching for Habdan. It’s addictive, and highly entertaining to wear. I keep picking out new notes throughout the wear and finding exciting new stages. Having and enjoying Oajan, I was afraid these would be too similar, or Habdan would be too sweet and smell too much like a caramel apple. They don’t, and it doesn’t. Off my skin, Habdan dry, dark, smokey, resinous, and slightly sweetened by the apple, but never becomes gourmand. It also has a freshness to it which I rather enjoy, maybe coming from the apple accord? Either way, it’s very well balanced and very well blended. This fits nicely within my collection along with some of the others I enjoy most such as Layton, Layton Exclusif, Herod, Carlisle, Tauer LDDM, Dark Rebel, This Is Him, Blessed Baraka, Oud for Greatness, Spicebomb Extreme, Interlude Man Black Iris, Black Afgano, Musc Ravageur, Noir Extreme, Oud Wood. If you love any of those, chances are you will love Habdan. And performance is great. It’s not the strongest performer in my collection, but I have others for when I want a beast mode. If you’re like me and like spraying for your own enjoyment relaxing at home or with friends, it’s perfect. Well done PDM

Unlike most people, I do not get that sweet fruity apple pie cinnamon smell. This fragrance is sweet but not that sweet. Some compared it to Oajan. Oajan is sweet and smells like cinnamon candy. Habdan is more mature, more serious, more complex. The opening is harsh with saffron spiciness, green apple, woody and some incense. It turns into woody, semi sweet caramel and balsamic smell mixed with amber. I do not get oud or rose mentioned in the notes. It is very unique and works perfect for me. It is not fully incense dark oriental scent and yet it feels dark. It is not fully gourmand but yet has gourmand feel. Overall it is a complex scent, and perfectly balanced fragrance. This is dirty, dark and mysterious sexy, not smooth innocent sexy if that makes any sense. It is almost a mixture of several parfums de marly fragrances but somehow twisted version of them in a good way. Women around me famililar with layton, it is well known now and still get compliments for sure, but if you want to smell different and stand out of the crowd habdan is the answer. Performance is excellent on my skin. It lasts 12+ hours and project strongly 4-5 hours. Sileage is also great. It is perfect for spring, fall and winter.

Right from the opening, the Saffron and Apple of Habdan makes itself known, with a woodsy, smoky, undertone and a faint rose note. I expected Habdan to be a lot more sweet and heavy, but the apple makes it quite fresh and versatile. A pleasant surprise. The Saffron is beautifully blended with the apple and caramel and woodsy notes, I had high expectations of this fragrance and I must say even with that the scent exceeds my expectations. I love Layton, Carlisle, Herod, and I would say Habdan is on the same level as these, one of the best PdM fragrances. I can't believe this isn't talked about more. You can smell some of all of the other good PdM in this scent, but at the same time it is different and unique. Truly a masterpiece. While Layton feels like the perfect winter and early spring fragrance, Habdan feels like the perfect autumn and early winter fragrance. It's a shame I only discovered it now, right as autumn has passed. I was lucky to come across a sample of Habdan, and I will definitely buy a full bottle of this! Probably even before some of my planned summer/fresh fragrance purchases. If you haven't smelled Habdan yet, you have to try it out, it is so good!

#1242 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I love this heavy incense scent, and it's great quality, but there are others out there that have this same DNA that actually last longer and cost less. Aesop has "HWYL." Agatho Parfums has two great scents, "195aC" and "Fauno." But the best I've gotten is Boadicea the Victorious "Complex." I put on a hoodie this morning that I last wore a week ago, when I wore Complex, and it smelled like I'd just sprayed Complex on the hoodie, even though I'd only applied it to my skin. This PDM scent costs twice what I paid for Complex, which I got on sale from Jomashop for $165. Aesop HWYL cost about the same as the Complex is also a heavy hitter in the longevity and sillage department. While Habdan lasts all day, like the Agatho scents I mentioned which run about $250, Habdan certainly doesn't have the staying power and sillage of Complex or HWYL, which pretty much last till you wash them off. All that said, I think applied sensibly Habdan is car pool, elevator and small office safe. Not for warm weather. Sprayed on excessively it will drive people out of the room. I would probably save it for dinner date nights.

One of the most underrated PDM out there, the Habdan open with a juicy granny green apple that last through the mid, main accord of Myrrh, Caramel, warm woodsy notes, and a touch of incense from the Oblibanum. This is a very sexy and cozy scent, on my skin the Habdan is a bit more masculine than Oajan and Layton, but confident women can rock this one as well. I think this is best for Spring and Fall, but I wouldn't hesitate to wear it in summer and winter either, go lighter on the sprayer during summer, and few more spritz in winter and you're good to go. Overall performance and longevity are good and last throughout the workday, with moderate projection and sillage. This is an Eau de Phantastic grade perfume like most of the PDM line, you know it's going to last! To my nose the Habdan is highly seductive, a bit gourmand and balsamic. This is a MUST HAVE for me and i LOVE it even more than Layton! Shop around and you could find a 4.2oz bottle for under $150, which is an absolute bargain!

I don't know what people are talking about below me. First, Layton Ex. and Habdan are quite different if you have a trained nose. LE is more minty, spicy, and woody while Habdan is much, much more sweeter and balsamic. You can rock LE in the spring to near summer while Habdan (along with Oajan) is much more for the winter (unless you're in a control environment). Second, any fragrance by the house of PDM is much more rich and has more depth than any Bvlgari fragrance, hence the price difference. Now to my actual review, another great oriental fragrance by PDM. The combination of notes that are in this fragrance is a masterpiece. Habdan and Oajan are some of my favorite winter/clubbing fragrance. Both of these bad boys can pierce through anything in a night club. And personally, just judging on pure scent, I'll have to choose Habdan over Oajan. However, based on compliments from girls, Oajan has the notch. But both are amazing buys and amazing fragrances!

Habdan smells like a middle eastern king would smell. So so good! I have a 125ml bottle and I love the stuff. I feel like royalty when I wear it. It’s fairly sweet with a caramel apple nuance. And it’s smokey. Very masculine in my opinion. It smells expensive and chic. Like a billionaire would smell. I get saffron throughout the life of the fragrance, but a luxurious smelling saffron because it’s blended well with the myrrh and ambergris. I love Layton, but I love Habdan just as much. It projects loud, I wouldn’t put more than three sprays or I’d fill up the room with Habdan. I paid $170 USD for my 125ml bottle and it’s worth every penny. I also have Layton, Layton Exclusif, Carlisle and Galloway. I like Habdan a little better than Carlisle and equal to Layton and LE. Habdan has the PdM vibe, rich, dark, sweet, chic. I give it a 9 out of 10. I have a 2020 batch. The longevity is ok but not great

Olibanum, myrrh, saffron, caramel, 4 very pungent notes. It’s dark, resinous, sweet and mysterious. You get a big nice green apple, very crisp, crunchy a little bit sweet and sour that balances all out. Delicious. Don’t get me wrong this is not a full on gourmand scent. The opening is biiiig, fill the whole room kind of big. But becomes more docile as it dries down. This walk on a thin line between eccentric/original scent and a mass appeal scent. The dry down is the best part, the crisp sour apple dies down and it becomes a dark, resinous (from the myrrh), incensy (from the olibanum), leathery (from the saffron) sweet (from the caramel) concoction. This NEEDS to be worn during winter with a nice black leather jacket to get the full experience. Very masculine and elegant, this definitely deserves more exposure. But let’s keep it as our little secret ;)

The oud opens smooth and refined, then settles into a slightly fresh apple note that really starts to shine as it dries down. With just a gentle spray — even a half spray — it’s surprisingly wearable for the office or an indoor dinner on a spring or summer day. The freshness becomes a little more noticeable in the dry down and keeps it from feeling too heavy. That said, I definitely wouldn’t wear this in the dead heat of summer outdoors or overspray it indoors. But with the right touch, this is absolutely the kind of scent that turns heads. I could even see myself layering it with a hint of Prada L'Homme to tone it down just a notch. Is it for everyone? Nah. But it’s definitely underrated. I’m looking forward to testing it in different situations and really rocking it once the cooler weather rolls around.

Having just swapped olfactive studio woody mood, I can say with certainty that habdan has 0 resemblance - in my opinion. With that said, I feel like habdan is a nice spicy, semi-sweet scent. It almost smells like a sweet rose/oud combo - but when you really examine it, you can almost pull out each note. The apple and Carmel give it a sweet/sour type vibe in the background, while the rose/saffron give you the spicy vibe. It’s a hard one not to like in my opinion. It does hold some similarities to The Uncompromising Sohan by Penhaligons, but I would categorize that as being much, much spicier, with a notable oud presence. Overall I think this is a superb winter scent. It’s mature but not old, sweet but not cloying and has the lasting power that everyone wants. A top choice for winter. 7/10

I got this from a blind swap on an online group. I was looking to sell or swap my Pegasus and I ended up getting an offer to swap for Habdan. After looking at the notes and seeing a ton of reviews online, I decided to go for it. I am really glad I did. Habdan is awesome. Its rich and really does smell like some sort of autumnal pie or drink - be it apple, pumpkin, or sweet potato pie or spiced warm apple cider. It has that autumn spice smell with a touch of sweetness from the apple that just peeks through to brighten it up. The resins are present, but they more just mesh together with the saffron, caramel, and woody notes to create this rich, warm base. This is some serious stuff, and it is something that I would recommend to those who like spicy, rich, almost edible scents.

I did not even know Parfums de Marly were so hyped. My interest started with a decant of Habdan. I asked for an incense fragrance with bitter notes and Habdan is what the store manager demonstrated. And it is really spot-on. The safran and apple are common yet addictive. I already have two bottles of Falcon Leather and a decant of Safran Secret. To me, Habdan is blended more beautifully than Safran S. and more refined than FL. A pro for me: the rose note is not prominent nor clichéd. If I would have learned beforehand that Habdan has a rose note, I would even not have given this beautiful fragrance a try. My aversion to rose notes came from boredom with popular cliché fragrances, but this aversion is not justified. A rose is not just any rose. Habdan is a rose done well.

I’ve had my bottle of this for a few months now, and I feel vindicated in saying it’s PDM’s most underrated gem. I’ve tried dozens and dozens from the brand, and this is my second favorite, behind Delina Exclusif. It’s a powerhouse of a fragrance, in my opinion. I’m not sure how old the bottle I got is, but this lasts ages and then some. Prominent saffron and apple, kind of sitting on a slightly sweet base of caramel with an overdose of woodsy notes. It smells amazing in cold weather, but I couldn’t imagine using this in any temperature over 40°F. It has a distinct masculine quality but could surely be pulled off as unisex. I love this for going out at night, but it’s so good occasionally I’ll just sit on my couch wearing it. Excellent!!

Spicy fresh goodness. Opening is divine fresh spice and some smooth apple. Its a similar apple to layton but not so sweet. Stays spicy fresh to dry down where it becomes slightly sweet. Steadily becoming my favorite pdm. Performance isn't on par with Layton but it’s pretty good. Radiates about a foot or two for a good 3-4 hours then sits closer to the skin. Lasts maybe 8 hours total. But you have to get pretty close to smell it after 6 hours. Might still have good sillage, idk. I’m not sure how people gauge sillage. Would have to walk behind yourself lol. I could also just be going nose blind to it. Good reactions with it. My girlfriend says its a 9/10 and she doesn't impress easily
