Meliora

my most recent spring “little treat” purchase (ie birthday gift) after months of meandering on a sample. tldr: i am mad i liked this one a lot i wake up every morning and usually choose violence. my favorite scents are dusty, vintage, the wrong sort of statement for most affairs. aldehydes and aromatics are my staples. my brand. i don’t typically go for the “clean girl” or sweet fruity pleasant styled freshies even if i keep them around. and this is by design. so why have i fallen so damned hard for meliora? it’s shampooey. it’s tart and fruity, the jasmine in it is not the sambac or grandiflora that lends its odious indole to a heady composition, the flora blends into a tea-like crisp watery soapiness. the currant is almost juice-like, not quite fruit punch (certainly not that sweet) but not so different that i wouldn’t say it. ylang and rose hide deep within it, not quite showing their faces, both scents i prefer to have detectable rather than mingled. it’s...simple. almost boring. but it’s romantic, elegant, classic and lovable, yet not so sweet that it gives me the typical fruity-floral ache that similar PDM scents did (shame upon delina and cassili). if other PDM scents are rococo in their overstatedness, their drama and feminine panache almost like a spectacle— meliora is their early regency sister— a return to a more understated and delicate form that mingles its influences and couches them in a very expensive and luxurious, but simplistic base musk-wood-vanilla. this is to say: if you want a tea-like fruity floral free of any cremes or strong vanillas, and aren’t opposed to smelling like you just got out of a pricy european hair salon, i mean— meliora may be a good choice. DEFINITELY sample something that expensive first though.

I bought a sample of this about a month ago and upon first smelling I was confused because I could barely smell it, but today I went back to it and OH MY GOD. I love it. It’s such a beautiful fruity floral. I think it’s a little heavier on the florals but in the best way possible. Im usually not into florals but I really really like this. The sweetness of the fruits really balance it out. My mom easily gets headaches from perfume and is very picky but she did like this one. There’s also a green note that really makes you feel like you’re outside, on a beautiful spring day. It feels like taking a walk through a garden in a dainty dress, and leaning down to smell the flowers. This is genuinely spring in a bottle, the springiest thing I’ve ever smelled. Im wearing it on my wrist at the moment, and I also can’t exactly comment on the longevity or sillage because I don’t have a spray version. I don’t see the best reviews on that though, and the longevity of an expensive perfume is kind of important to me, but with how much I like this fragrance I might not mind that much. There are a lot of dupes but im also kind of paying for the bottle because it is just so gorgeous! Im hoping to get a bottle of it sometime soon if I can find a really good deal. Let me know if you find somewhere that sells a 75ml bottle for under $200!!!

I've read lots of things about it, including ‘champagne’, perhaps because of the golden bottle with cream-colored pompoms, the sparkling and joyful side of its juice. It's true that it's pleasant, cheerful, and luminous. An explosion of juicy fruit that makes your mouth water, a splash of jasmine tea, a caress of rose petals, a burst of ylang-ylang—it's sunny, fresh, indulgent, so delicious, it's like the most exquisite shower gel. I really like it for its innocent, retro feel, while maintaining a very respectable projection and sillage. I had some doubts before adopting it because of its almost juvenile candor. It's the luxury version of a little girl's perfume... It reminds me of my childhood. Edit: I ended up buying it because I liked it so much. Sweet, fruity green scents have something fresh and elegant about them, while being perfectly feminine. I never tire of them. Best worn in warm weather. I also love Nectarine Blossom & Honey, which I consider to be from the same family. I also read a comparison with “L'Ombre dans l'Eau.” For me, Diptyque is the gothic cousin of Méliora, much more melancholic, tart, and green. Méliora has the energy of a happy princess who has gone to live in the countryside to pick red berries far from the crowds. It's joy in a bottle!

When Anne Lauren on YouTube said this smells like a garden fairy, I thought she was kidding, but no... This stuff is Queen Clarion in a bottle! Or rather, a tea cup. When I tell you I screamed. I SCREAMED. It's got to be the most magical, whimsical fragrance I have ever smelled. You get berries, and I mean bright, wild, sweet woodland berries! I was not sure what to expect from the black currant AND cassis, since they each usually smell like plastic and pee to me, but I am so glad they really only act as the transparent air the other notes flow on. It's so innocent, regal, and fantastical with a pixie dust sensation. Who would have guessed, right? Maybe it's too innocent for some, but it is perfect for me. I would even wear this for a wedding if I were a bride. Beautiful! Everyone loves it on me!

I can see this being used during a Wedding and all the anniversaries after. It's beautiful! Blackcurrant is one of my favorite notes. I never really got much lily of the valley - maybe the ylang ylang is overpowering it. Berries are the most prominent and cassis makes it fresh - different DNA than other berry fragrances that are well known that tend to lean on the heavier side. Some compare it to straight up juice - but I think it's way more light than that. It definitely has a water aspect to it (maybe the cassis?) I've seen people say it's not worth the money because it would be easily replicated, but fragrance is all about the experience! I think this would be a good splurge for that special day you have in mind and for you to keep that memory forever

I love her. I do not care that she is overpriced, or that she doesn’t last long, or that she smells like a body spray. I love her. Meliora is shampooey and fresh and green in the best way. She smells like you just got out of the shower on a spring day and your hair is wet, you’re wearing a soft t shirt, and a breeze is rolling in through the window. So girly without being overbearingly fruity, or too subtle and clean. Red berries and lily of the valley are the strongest notes here. The cassis and blackcurrant in the opening are strong as well. Niche and personal association here, but reminds me of Atlantis in Nassau. Sprayed some on in their gift shop and the scent association stuck which is nice.

A really special and unique fragrance. At first spray it is fresh and tart, and reminiscent of Body Shop Dewberry oil from the ‘90s. On the dry down it softens and becomes creamy, sweet and floral - similar to a much softer Oriana. I disagree with anyone who says this is a clone for Lalique Amethyst (ahem Teddy the Perfumer). Yes they have similarities, especially at the top. And yes they are both designed by Nathalie Lorson. But Amethyst is far more citrusy and tart. Amethyst is giving my grapefruit, even in the dry down. I have both, and after trying to make do with a sample of Meliora from PDM, and Amethyst, I decided to shell out for Meliora. It’s just truly unique to my nose.

This scent is tied to a memory I can't place. Something from the 90s or early 00s, done before I think. But it's in the best of ways. In fact, out of the discovery set I think this one is my second favorite to Oriana, possibly tied with Valaya. It's fresh in a shower fresh sort of way. Imagine the scent of biosilk, how it has a fresh scent, but it isn't sharp-fresh...more aquatic. This one reminds me a little of the Vamp Elvira perfume from Demeter...also Philosophy's Baby Grace It is a soft freshness, and it does remind me of a scent your hair would hold onto and waft around and get compliments. Not so great a thing for some on here, but to me it's all in the best of ways.

If I could give a visual of what this fragrance smells like, It would be Princess Aurora walking in the meadows singing 'Once Upon A Dream' as she is about to meet her Prince in real life. It opens up with a beautiful garden of berries and then you get hit with the rose and the Lilly of the valley. The dry down is where it's at! A sweet aroma of the musk, vanilla, and almond project and it smells like a masterpiece. This fragrance is so feminine, I literally am a princess when I wear this perfume. I don't get the hate for this because it smell so good to me. 10/10! LOVE LOVE LOVE! FYI: Layer this with LoveShackFancy's Secret Crush...thank me later :)

This is my favorite Ghost album! Oops, wrong Meliora. It's definitely one of my favorite Parfums de Marly samples so far... The notes listed here on Fragrantica are only partially correct. Per PDM's site: Top Notes: Red Berries, Raspberry, Lemon essence Heart Notes: Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine Tea Base Notes: Vanilla, Musk, Cedarwood I've been wanting to smell like Jasmine Tea, but I'm not getting that from this fragrance. It's pretty and pleasant, though. Juicy, busting berries, a little lemon, a little musk, and something slightly spicy I can't quite put my finger on... maybe the ylang?

I am such a sucker for Parfums de Marly! As a lifelong equestrian, the horse theme is appealing. I love that Meliora was a prized mare who was the mother of the famous racehorse Herod (also a PdM fragrance). All the PdM perfumes I have are well balanced, beautiful, and so very wearable. Meliora is sweet, light, and fruity, perfect for spring and summer. Picture raspberries in champagne - sipping on a Kir Royale cocktail on a late spring evening in a flower garden. Yes, it's expensive. Sometimes I like to feel expensive, and this is the smell of a romantic summer date night in a bottle.

When I first tried this I wasn’t impressed and wrote it off as just a basic fruity rose scent. Now, after trying my sample again a few weeks later I find this to be one of the easiest clean and soapy perfumes to reach for. It’s elegant without doing too much. I’m surprised this doesn’t have any water notes because it has this a very aquatic undertone to it that really complements the sharp rose and the smooth berries. My favorite PDM is Valaya, which is their cleanest option but for days when I want my scent to sit close to me or when I’m working in the office, Meliora is perfect.

I bought the PdM for her discovery set and I have to say I love all the four fragrances in it. An airy floral with delicate hints of fruity notes, Meliora is a clean & fresh summery fragrance, soft, yet radiant. On my skin it’s more floral than fruity and is a charming fragrance, perfect to wear on a hot day because it isn’t cloying or overbearing. The sillage is moderate, which works well for hot days but longevity is just a couple of hours on my skin. Since I have the 10ml bottle, it is easy to carry in the handbag and reapply but I wish it lasted longer.

I really like this! It smells like Jasmine tea, mixed with sherbet lemons, peach and blackcurrant. Soft, a bit powdery but fruity and slightly spicy. Not sure about all the performance complaints, I have a cold at the moment, so my sense of smell is kind of muffled. I only sprayed three times from my sample, but it's very strong. It seems to last on clothes and skin equally. I'll try it again when my sense of smell is back to normal, but my initial impression is great! It doesn't smell like shampoo at all to me, but it does give bath bomb vibes.

I don’t get anything spicy from this. It’s sweet, soapy, fresh and juicy! The perfect day scent, and unlike Delina it’s not cloying. How is there no elderflower listed in the notes- its a sweet, sunny elderflower scent. The only down side is that it doesnt have that beast projection and sillage that some people are looking for. But this leaves a lovely scent trail for 2-3hrs and then becomes the most beautiful skin scent. Might be a bit pricey considering the overall performance. But is price is not an issue, then go for it. It’s delishious!

If you love a fruity, soft floral, princess scent, Meliora is for you. It’s beautiful and appropriate for any occasion. People complain about the price of PDM, but if you go to all of the online discounters, you’ll find them somewhere for around $200. That’s still a lot of money but in my opinion these fragrances are worth it. They smell beautiful, they get compliments, and on me they wear for at least six hours.Some are stronger than others. I think Meliora and Casilli are the two most underrated women’s fragrances from the house.

This perfume smells like childhood to me, like picking berries out in the summer sun. It’s fresh, fruity, and playful, with this really distinctive tea-like undertone that adds a cozy, almost whimsical feel. The combination makes it super nostalgic in the best way, like a summer memory in a bottle. The only downside is it doesn’t last very long on my skin, which is a bummer since it’s on the pricier side. If you don’t mind touching it up during the day, though, it’s definitely a lovely, nostalgic scent to have.

I got a Set of 4 travel sizes from this house for Xmas and out of the 4 this one is by far my favourite in fact it could be my favourite from the house. It just smells magical to me what a spring or summer day should smell like. It’s grown up yet playful and I could wear this all the time. On warm days it’s perfect especially if you want a summery scent that isn’t sun screeny. The berries are sweet and balanced well by the bottom notes of musk and woods. If you can get your nose on this I recommend you try it

This is a bright and sparkling fragrance. Has a youthful, playful, and uplifting vibe yet there’s a refined depth that keeps it from feeling juvenile. This is a clean fruit-floral fragrance, to me it has a juicy sweetness that to my nose smells like a ripe guava even though it’s not in the notes. It’s somewhat tropical to me (reminiscent of tropical fruits like guava, passion fruit). Meliora is proof that fruity fragrances can be both fun and sophisticated.

When I smelled this for the first time, I really liked it. I didn’t necessarily love it. But the first time I wore it out, I got so many compliments. I started wearing it just a little bit more and even explored layering it with other perfumes. I now gravitate towards this one very often. It is soft, sweet, and long lasting for my body chemistry. It never feels overpowering. No headaches. No complaints. I also love how beautiful all the PDM bottles are.
