Pegasus Exclusif

I remember reviewing the original Pegasus a while ago and enjoying it. So when I saw a sample of this for sale on the cheap, I figured it made sense for me to go ahead and try this one as well. Now if I'm correct, and I'm able to extrapolate what this may smell like based on the differences I experienced between Layton and Layton Exclusif, this should be a darker, woodier, oud-y version of Pegasus. Let's get into it; Scent: The opening is woody, sweet, and powdery. The primary notes I get are bitter almond, vanilla, oud, and guaiac wood. The strongest of the notes are the vanilla and almond. The vanilla hits you first with its signature creamy sweetness, not super natural but not synthetic either; think vanilla extract. Right after that initial hit of vanilla comes a follow up from the bitter almond; powdery, nutty, and bittersweet. The almond does have a natural smell to it, and together with the vanilla reminds me of a bowl of candied almonds. This is followed by the oud and guaiac wood. The oud is instantly noticeable in the opening with its distinct powerful woodiness. It has a little bit of an animalic funk to it, but not enough to come across as challenging. Lastly, the guaiac wood rounds out the opening with a strong and slightly smoky woodiness. The dry down is still woody, sweet, and powdery, and the primary notes are still vanilla, almond, oud, and guaiac wood. The dry down is virtually the same as the opening, with the exception of the woods being more ramped up. However, it's still a vanilla and almond dominant scent. I do get a healthy amount of warm spiciness from the cardamom in the dry down as well. Far in the background I also get hints of the sandalwood and amber. Performance: Initial projection is very strong and fills a room. Sillage matches that energy with a heavy scent trail. After a few hours the projection had died down to about 5-6 feet and the scent trail was not as loud but still noticeable. At the 7 hour mark the projection was within arms length and the scent trail was still lightly noticeable. The fragrance became a skin scent about an hour later. When to wear: This is a fall/winter fragrance that is suitable for daytime or evening wear. The heavy woods and vanilla make it a good pick for the evening, but the powdery almond brightens it up enough to be appropriate for daytime as well. In terms of versatility, I would consider this a special occasion fragrance. It's something I would wear on a date or to a formal occasion, but not something I would wear casually or to the office. Blind buy: This is not necessarily a safe blind buy. When compared to original Pegasus, that one is much more mass-appealing. Pegasus Exclusif has the strong oud/woods that set it apart and make it a bit more difficult to pull off. If you like Pegasus, or sweet/almond fragrances, get your nose on this one to see if it's your flavor. Final verdict: This ended up being a much better experience than what I expected. The heavy woods and oud blended seamlessly with the vanilla and almond to create a sweet and vanillic fragrance with a healthy dose of masculinity. As much as I enjoyed Pegasus, I think Pegasus Exclusif is a definite improvement. I don't feel it's redundant to own both as they are different enough, but I personally feel that I only need Pegasus Exclusif to be happy. I will be getting a full bottle of this when possible. First Impression (early 2021 batch / 1020347) God 10/10 I got almond since the very beginning. Tasty butter almonds with some bitterness. I need full 3 wears for complete review. ****** Pegasus Excusif is something I won’t call a superior version of Pegasus. I would call it a flanker or other rendition to make the scent fuller, denser, heady. The scent is opening with Almond. Similar to Pegasus. However, the woody / bitter-oud undertone Reveal itself prominently. Their is more gourmand aspect to Pegasus-exclusif. Sweet, woody remind me of butter and chocolate. As the scent develope. It is drop the almond a bit but warm, inviting sensual realistic wood introduce to the screen. It’s very pleasant and luxuriou. This is not hard to wear or polarizing . This is warm, welcoming woody / sweet undertone that still inviting but the scent still give impression of class that might be a bit hard to reach. I would say this suits evening formal corporate function better than formal dinner. But I can guarantee you one thing that PDM’s almond fragrance is the best I have test so far. I would rate this 10/10 if I really like Almond and live in cold weather. But I would rate this to 9/10 personally. I find it a bit too rich in Almond and for my country, The weather is not appropriate for daily wear. ***** Update 2 on March 3, 2024 I decide to wear this one today. I feel like I would like to wear something out of my main olfactive, I remember I really enjoy my bottle. The top, still get me that tasty almond feel is very enjoyable. But experience do change, I am now receive something more in realm of woody-spicy sweet scent. Majority experience is Powdery Almondy Woody with Powderiness form Heliotrope, a tint of Balsamic tone and support by soft spiciness "Cinnamon" like. In the middle, I get whip from time to time. The scent develop into more warm woody scent as we walk to the base, the smooth Iso-E sandalwood with tint of raw material like ingredient enhance feel nicely, If there is an oud, it is just Oudy effect... (If you understand this.. that mild odor from oud majority of late fragrance had). It is no real oud strong here for sure. The scent during late dry down reminds me softly of Bouquet Ideal by Casamorati a bit. It is just not as sweet. Ok, so I also wear Pegasus again for comparison, I want to mention that during dry down of Pegasus. It kinda link to this one. Like they use the base of Pegasus, stronger from the beginning, enhance with spicy tone and mild Oudy tone to make a fragrance a bit more oreintal, more noble. Pegasus Exclusif, Imho. are more preferred than Pegasus. As It a bit more woodier. Sweeter and more Oreintal but Pegasus is easier to use in daily life as I late dry down link here. It is nice sweet oudy powdery woody scent. My over all score change a bit. But I still enjoy. Score 8.5/10 Projection Moderate - softer 3 hours post wear Longevity only 6-7 hours Classification: Leans Masculine Summary: Christian Thompson (the bad side).

This review was a long time coming because I wanted to be sure I wasn't dreaming. Layton Exclusif is one of my signature scents. I love the original Layton but that Exclusif twist is just amazing. I absolutely hate the original Pegasus. It's crazy sweet, much too "fake almond" (like almond extract), too overbearing for me. I don't like it on strip and on my skin it turns into an abhorrent, buttermilk-ish/soured almond milk. As such, for the longest time I didn't even bother trying the Exclusif version since I hated the original Pegasus. In the case of Layton, I find that the original and the Exclusif are pretty close, with only the added oud note and a deeper, slightly darker accord. Pegasus Exclusif is *not* like that. It's an entirely different beast. Right from the opening, the oud greets you. Some would say it's a little funky, I find it rather mild compared to deeper, more skanky oud (Indian, for example) with fecal vibes. It's milder than in Haltane where the oud is very present and off-putting in the opening to some. The almond and vanilla are definitely there but the wood notes overtake them (and somehow the vanilla is much stronger than the almond on my skin), making it deeper, richer and much darker and sexier. It kills some of the overbearing sweetness I can't bear from the original. On my skin, it doesn't change all too much from the opening except for the oud softening and the sandalwood in the drydown making itself known. Dressed up, this will turn heads, for sure. I personally find it rather pleasant on its own, warming and comforting for cold rainy fall days. Don't be afraid to sample this even if you don't like the original Pegasus! This is straight up FB worthy for me.

Ownership status: Full bottle Release year: 2020 How I tested it: Multiple wears I absolutely love everything about Pegasus. I didn't think that beautiful ambery-sandalwood drydown could get any better until I tried this. I had some time to kill at an airport and stopped by the PDM outlet. I already knew I loved the original Pegasus, and I walked in planning on buying it. But Pegasus Exclusif caught my eye, so I figured I'd try that first. And I'm glad I did. Without hesitation, I bought that on the spot, and now it's competing with a couple other perfumes for my number one of all time (I still can't decide). Exclusif takes that same “barbertrope” DNA (barbershop+heliotrope) and deepens it. It amps up the powerful woody-amber notes and adds oud, which transforms the atmosphere. Oud+heliotropin is an unreal combination. Exclusif feels richer, more dimensional, and more mature without losing the identity that I love about the original. Besides the increased amber and woody notes, there are smoother, woodier spices to complement the base notes and also a subtle rosy facet which wasn't prevalent in the original. It's not very noticeable but it adds a pop of color that rounds everything out perfectly. And, of course, with all of that norlimbanol, oud, and powerful sandalwood materials, this projects like a beast. Just like Pegasus, I don't have anything bad to say about this. It takes what I loved and intensifies it in the most satisfying way possible.

This is my first review on fragrantica, so take it with a pinch of salt. When rating a fragrance, i have 3 criterias, which are performance, scent and price of the fragrance in question. I tend to put more emphasis on the performance of a fragrance, as scent is subjective and what works for me may not work for the others. When I first sprayed the fragrance on me, the opening was somewhat strong but pleasing to my nose. 30 minutes after the initial spray, the opening settles down and gives way to bitter almond notes. I have never tried fragrances with almond notes before and I was suprised by the smoothness and additiveness of that bitter almond note. It doesn't stray into gourmand territory while being somewhat delectable. After some minutes have passed by, I get whiffs of vanilla and oud. The oud note is somewhat restrained, compared to the vanilla note. The transition from the opening to the dry down is smooth and the notes doesn't clash with each other. I got a 2021 batch and the performance on my skin is great. The projection is more than an arm's length. The fragrance lingers around me and the sillage is also great. The longevity of the fragrance is beyond 6 hours on my skin and beyond 12 hours on my clothes. Scent : 10 out of 10 Longevity: 9 out of 10 Projection : 7 out of 10 (More than an arm's length) Price : 6 out of 10 ( In my opinion, It is a little bit more on the expensive side, even for a niche house)

Pegasus Exclusif smells dark and sophisticated. I'd say it's very well blended, and it's difficult to pinpoint distinct notes, the notes all come together to create a beautiful blend. I first smelled the original Pegasus, and thought it was too powdery, too sweet, and I didn't appreciate the almond note. Then I smelled Layton Exclusif, and was disappointed in how animalic and "dirty" it made Layton. So when I went to smell Pegasus Exclusif, I had pretty low expectations. However, It ended up really surprising me in the best way possible! Pegasus Exclusif takes the original Pegasus DNA, makes it less sweet and powdery, and adds some depth and darkness with the oud note. This oud note however, is a "clean" oud note, especially compared to the oud in Layton Exclusif. The almond note, that sometimes comes off a bit "metalic", seems to be downplayed, or overshadowed by the oud note. So to me, Pegasus Exclusif is a less cloying and more complex Pegasus, and a more mass appealing and wearable fragrance than Layton Exclusif. I bought Pegasus Exclusif to use it for formal events and gatherings. I get around 8hrs longevity, and it projects moderately. So for my use and purposes, it's been great! I'll admit it's not the most interesting, classy, or cheap fragrance for formal events. Still, I'm satisfied, and will happily use Pegasus Exclusif for many years to come.

I don't know whow else to describe Pegasus Exclusif versus Pegasus, but it's like Pegasus gained a backbone. Regular Pegasus just smells like a powder bomb with a little bit of vanilla, almond, and a metallic smell. I actually love "powder bombs," but it needs to have other notes to contrast against it. All of these notes are very airy and light, making it feel like nothing is holding it up and like there's this big, gaping hole in where you'd expect other notes to be. "Airy" and "light" can be good, but Pegasus just smells incomplete. Pegasus Exclusif adds these notes back in, such as woodiness and oud, while keeping those top-end, light notes to make it a much more complex fragrance. The earthiness brings out the vanilla as well--more than Pegasus, again, because you have that backbone to contrast against. It's still a powder bomb, which I love. Definitely screams "elegance." Leans masculine. Oud can sometimes smell skanky or fecal, but this oud really is clean and fits well in the fragrance. Oud doesn't always work out for me--even for some of the big-hitter fragrances. The oud starts out moderate and not offensive, but it really finds its perfect balance in the dry-down. I have personally purchased the full 4.2 oz bottle to use as one of my main office scents, and I'll probably use it for formal occasions as well. I highly recommend it.

I had traveled to grandfather's estate for luncheon and upon arriving he seemed disposed in midst of a chess match with butler David so I asked if I could go to the garages and look over his 1929 Mercedes-Benz SSK. Upon being seated in the classic I had the impulse to reach into driver's door pouch to see if I might discover some treasure as I knew he hadn't driven the coach in years. To my surprise I drew out a bottle of men's perfumery resting there for decades. Upon digging deeper in the pouch I drew out a pair of men's driving gloves. It is then the addiction began. Oh the scent emanating from those mitts. Upon having given the classic it's adoration I made my way back to the mansion where I found grandfather ready for our meal. During the course of our delicious respite I asked him "Richard, (for I called him Richard and he I as I am the 3rd) what is the incredible scent proffered by your driving gloves found in the Mercedes?" Whereupon he indicated we would trek to the garages for him to make an assessment when our meal was complete. Upon his having deeply inhaled the fragrance wafting from the gloves we then returned to the mansion whereupon he presented me with a bottle of Pegasus Exclusif. "Here you are my name sake. This is as close as I can get to what developed in the door pouch of that automobile." YOU WILL BECOME ADDICTED.

Honestly, Pegasus Exclusif is the version that finally made me fall in love with the Pegasus line after I was pretty neutral about the original. What really caught my attention is that the sharp, metallic almond note (the one many people dislike and describe as a “bomb of almond” or “chemical-sharp”) has completely disappeared from the original Pegasus. In Exclusif, the opening is much softer and more balanced, with cardamom, bergamot, and pink pepper blending beautifully. The almond is still there, but it’s gentle and well-integrated, not overpowering or harsh. Overall, the scent feels deeper, smokier, and more woody (thanks to guaiac wood, oud, and sandalwood), with a creamy, warm vanilla base. It gives a luxurious, wintery, and more masculine and elegant vibe compared to the original. Performance is excellent: it easily lasts 10–14 hours, and the projection is strong but not overwhelming if you use the right amount. In short: if you liked the idea of the original Pegasus but couldn’t stand the intense metallic almond edge, Pegasus Exclusif is the perfect solution. It’s a refined, polished, and much more comfortable version. For me, it’s currently one of my top 3 PDM fragrances, and I wear it a lot for occasions and cooler evenings. 🔥🐎

#950 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I first got Pegasus nearly two years ago and it has remained one of my all-time favorites. I got this decant of Exclusif about a year ago and am just now getting around to trying it out. I am surprised by how much more potent and rich it is. An all day and all night skin scent. It's so heavy it's absolutely not something I could wear on a regular basis. More something I'd save for a date with a woman I know that's nuts for nutty, ambery, vanillic scents, when I usually break out the YSL "Tuxedo" or Rochas "Moustache EDP. " The level of amber, vanilla and oud here is kind of overwhelming. I had the same reaction to BDK's "Rouge Smoking Extrait" which had all this plus a really over-the-top cherry note that made it stomach churning for me. So you'd be very conservative applying this unless you want to just bowl everyone over, and you wouldn't want to inflict this on others in close spaces of any kind. I'd almost save this for outdoors on a windy day. There is a Maison Alhambra clone of this, "Perseus Exclusif" which I've ordered and is on the way and will review and compare when it arrives.

This is a very beautiful juxtaposition between fresh cardamom/lavender (fresh in a clean, soapy kind of way) and dry vanilla/almond/oud. The oud here is not funky but rather clean and balanced. It adds a woody backbone to the otherwise vanillic and almondy base. The first thing I noticed about this was how expensive it smelled. The day I decided to wear my sample as my SOTD, I had to go out of my way to dress fancier than I normally would because I felt the scent was too suave to be worn with sweats and a tshirt. That being said, this fragrance is incredible and full bottle-worthy, especially for fancy occasions. While the longevity is solid, it's not too loud or in-your-face which I like. You might think this fragrance has disappeared, but then later you'll catch a whiff of it and be reminded of how great it smells. Pegasus Exclusif does a great job of harmonizing the meditative cardamom-lavender-oud with the vanilla-almond and prevents the latter from becoming too saccharine. TLDR: Soapy cardamom/almond, clean oud, great for formal occasions

Buying this one has been such an achievement for me! My very first, truly expensive niche (though I'm aware many others surpass is). Presentation, bottle, craftsmanship, and last but not less important, the fragrance itself. These are all to die for! The smell is so addictive: creamy woods, with intense almond/heliotrope, a quite masculine vanilla, and then aromatics with an oud backbone that's slowly becoming my favorite fragrance. So easy to wear (dressing up and down) - signature scent for a more mature guy, especially for the heavy price. Performance is pleasant, nothing too overpowering, but easily distinguished and noticed among other scent. Smells like nothing I've tried before - aside from PDM's own fragrances, namely Layton Exclusif over the original Pegasus. Great longevity with very good sillage. Got my bottle for right around ~$170 for 4.2oz. So worth it, and after getting this one, I feel like it's much easier to invest time and money in higher quality fragrances.

One of the best fragrances PDM has to offer. Pegasus Exclusif is a true masterpiece. I love everything about this fragrance! It’s masculine, classy, elegant and sexy at the same time. The combination of vanilla, almond and woods with just a touch of smoky and sweet oud give this a really addictive quality. I’m amazed by the quality of raw materials used in this fragrance, this is niche perfumery done very well. You can wear this to the office, on a date night, to formal events, or just hanging out with your friends. It’s really versatile and you’re probably not going to offend anyone wearing this. However, I think it’s definitely not as loud as some people describe it. The performance is on par with other PDM fragrances. It lasts about 6-8 hours on my skin and creates a really nice, but moderate scent bubble with 3-4 sprays. I find this a lot more palatable than Layton Exclusif, and much more refined than the OG Pegasus.

On me this takes a bit to develop, however after a few minutes this becomes a really nice creamy vanilla combined with an oud accord that gives it a lot of uniqueness. It isn't too heavy though, because the almond and heliotrope give it enough lift. The oud actually fades before the other main notes do and it becomes more creamy and vanilla forward. To me this is definitely more interesting than the original pegasus. This smells like a well put together modern man and can be worn at almost any occasion, just not in warmer weather. Also will get you compliments if thats what you're after. Longevity is 12h+ on my skin and the projection is great for the first 6h. Atomizer is great. Scent: 10/10 Projection: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10 Versatility: 7/10 Price: 6/10 Overall: 8,2/10

This one is a love for me. I tend to not really knock a fragrance unless there is something really off-putting to my nose about it. Some are just not in my wheelhouse. I do tend to lean towards versatility as one of my main criteria, but that metric is very subjective, and the season rules very open to interpretation. I felt that PE could be worn in many such situations as, say, reflection or reflection 45, or even Layton. The combination of depth and subtle airiness that this fragrance has is really something special. I definitely think (on my skin, anyway) that it is a bit less powdery than its predecessor, while retaining the core almond and sweetness . The oud is very smooth and adds backbone to this giving it a much more masculine stance, in my opinion.

Love PDM especially Herod. I liked both original Pegasus and Layton Exclusif too but didn’t like them enough to pull the trigger on the full bottle. The original Pegasus was a little to punchy and sharp in the opening and that’s why I didn’t love it. I gladly was able to try the Pegasus Exclusif at Nordstrom. OMG!!! Love it so much at the first sniff and got the 125ml bottle right away. It doesn’t have the sharp aggressive opening and it’s definitely warmer, darker, smokier, smoother than the original. I love they added cardamom and Oud to it. It has the exclusif accord that I love. It feels like a mix of the Pegasus original and Layton Exclusif so this is a perfect combination of the 2 of my ‘likes’ (then it became LOVE). It’s a 10/10 for me.

Being one of the more expensive Exclusif variants that Parfums De Marly are releasing my hopes were high for this and it does not disappoint. Wearing this you’ll catch wafts all day reminding you how almost edible this scent is. Warm and certainly different to any scent I’ve got and that’s a lot (too much🤣). This one is a no brainer (for the right occasion). Not a hot weather scent for sure but on those cooler to cold days or nights it would be quite suitable. This is one where I’d say the higher price point makes itself known therefore as expensive as it is you do get that extra oomph from the scent. Of course I’m tight and would never pay full retail, deals are out there so try to get this at a better price and you’ll be laughing.

I thought I really enjoyed Pegasus but the Exclusif amps everything amazing up to 11, easily top 3 best PdM scents for me and I have I think 3 or 4 to try. The sweet creamy vanilla is still there but the almond is much more noticeable and is more “natural” and earthy smelling if that makes sense idk I can’t have nuts but it smells absolutely amazing pure elegance. There’s a warm cardamom that spices everything up and a very clean smelling oud in the base adding to that elegance feel. I felt Pegasus was pretty much 50/50 unisex but Exclusif to me feels more 75/25 masculine with the more woody and spicy undertones coming off more as a man in a suit to me Absolute winter banger

Wow. This is an all-time favorite for me, easily top five of all the fragrances sampled. PdM took the identity from the standard Pegasus, smoothed over the sharp metallic-like note that the original had, and built a deeper, richer base. Exclusif never strays into overly sweet, gourmand territory. It stays firmly in the realm of dry almond and deep woods with mild oud and guaic. But the vanilla and amber has tamed the edginess of the original Pegasus, and the sandalwood and a little spice warms the fragrance. Great performance, and absolutely addictive. This is a three season fragrance (summer excluded) and a good date night/special occasion scent.
