Sedbury

8 sprays- wrist, elbow, beck, hair, chest Initial impressions- Strong powdery white floral. Can't really decide in the white floral is Jasmine or tuberose. I feel like they're competing against each other, and perhaps the Jasmine won. There is some kick as well possibly from the benzoin. It's powdery but not creamy. It's gorgeous. 5min- The powder continues and the benzoin has subsided slightly. The Jasmine is definitely stronger to my nose than the tuberose. Also getting some green notes- not the watery green, but powdery- maybe from the sage. Very unique. It actually reminds me of walking in a lush green forest, that is not humid. Kind of ethereal like it belongs on a beautiful witch. 30min- Still a beautiful, green, powdery jasmine scent, but almost a skin scent already. 1hr- I can already feel the scent subsiding significantly. The green note and the benzoin has subsided a bit so now it's a Jasmine/tuberose powder, with the tuberose note kicking in more now. I also smell some gardenia and some citrus. This kind of smells like one of the white floral perfumed talcum powders here. 3hrs- The scent still continues with he white florals. Projection is a bit weaker but I can still feel a cloud around me. There is also something lightly mineral about it. Is it the ambergris? 5hr- There is still a cloud of white floral around me. Again I smell more gardenia than tuberose or Jasmine. The citrus notes have kicked up more, but the floral note is still strong. The powder has died down now, and it smells a bit like Jovan Island Gardenia now. 8hrs- I'm actually very impressed. The scent is still going and I didn't expect much from this after my disappointment with the other PDM Safanad. It's not all wonderfully powdery anymore but rather that green gardenia scent which is similar to most common gardenia scents out there. I don't know why I'm smelling gardenia. Oh well. I'm definitely ok with the gardenia as it's one of my favorite white florals. Where I've sprayed on clothes and hair I can smell more of the gardenia. Only slightly detectable where I've sprayed on skin. 10hrs- This is still going. It's nearly gone from skin, but still quite potent on the clothes. This smell identical to the very affordable Island Gardenia by Jovan at this point. 12hrs- Still smell the above gardenia scent. Had I not changed clothes and showered, this may have lingered a little longer. Smell: 8.5/10 Sillage: 8/10 (this will leave a slight powdery trail) Longevity: 9/10 (at least 8 hours on clothes and 5 hours on skin) Conclusion: This is a great, polarizing white floral that takes on many angles. The bewitching expensive scent that is smelled initially doesn't really last unfortunately, as this dries down to smell like many white florals. I have tested two other PDMs and smell wise I would rank this above Athalia and below the beautiful Safanad. Performance wise this is far superior to Safanad and perhaps even Athalia, had I not changed my clothes when I tested Athalia. Is it still worth this price point? Probably not.

I had practically given in to the thought of never finding a tuberose scent to suit my sensibilities until my encounter with Sedbury. I thought I was looking for a woody tuberose but along my sampling adventures found that dry woods are somewhat of a clash with the natural characteristics of this flower. Also, others I tested were either too coconutty, too green, too syrupy, synthetic, sharp, tropical, sweet, boring... yes, I had a long pedantic list of criteria. Sedbury is the zenith of my tuberose journey, cleverly holding my interest with its cryptic nature. There's a duality to this fragrance that appeals to my desire for a feminine, versatile, sensual perfume, and a curious undercurrent that probes at my sense. As some reviewers have noted, it could be considered a crowd pleaser being easy to love... but where are the crowds here? Only 22 in the database listed as owning this beauty and one who considers it signature worthy since its launch in 2015? I think it's a gem of a secret! The fragrance indeed dances like a chypre -- graceful and classic in structure yet clean and modern. As mentioned there is a curious duality: incredibly smooth tuberose, creamy but not heavy, white, luminous, glassy, gently sweet; running parallel to this is a fantastic softly bitter texture of salty dry green which is wild and quietly feral. I love this character in a perfume -- refined and elegant with delicately restrained primal strength. Uncaged but well trained; thoroughbred and not broken. Also of note is that sandalwood is missing from the note pyramid above. White flowers, amber, sandalwood and greens -- yes, there is some kinship with Amouage Ubar as MissAnnette notes. I also own Ubar as one of my favorites and don't particularly find this to be a watered down relative, but rather more pronounced on the florals and classic dry chypre notes and less on the animalic amber and sandalwood. I'd even dare classify this as a fougere. I think fans of Cartier La Panthere and Narciso Rodriguez EDP (white cube bottle) will really enjoy Sedbury and love it better if seeking something that smells more natural and less sweet in the modern white floral chypre category. Do sample Sedbury if you get a chance. This elegant steed is sure to take you for a pleasurable ride!

I have had this perfume for a couple of months now, but I didn't want to review it before now because I wanted to do it justice. A lovely member here sent me a random assortment of samples. Mixed up in all of that was Sedbury. The minute I opened the sample, I was blown away. I felt like I had found my signature scent. When you know, you just know. Obviously the price is a bit of a detterent for some; it was for me as well, but this was one perfume that I couldn't get out of my head. I wish I could just smell like this all day every day (the price is the only thing stopping me from bathing in it). Sedbury smells like a very warm, tropical, white floral. It is creamy and sweet. There is something in the base of it that cuts the sweetness a bit. That would probably be where the anamalic classification comes in. I find it to be a very linear scent, which I like with this one, because I am in love with the initial smell as it is. The one thing I notice is that over time, the anamalic 'dirty' note, intensifies. Sillage is only arms length. People will smell it, but it won't be intrusive. On my skin, it lasts about 8-10 hours. It lasts much longer in my hair, and even longer on my clothes. I can still smell it on my jacket collar and cuffs a week later. I have never repurchased a perfume in my life, but this may be the first one I would. I do think this is a perfume that deserves more attention.

The very first notes transport me to an orchard, with the scents of citrus and wild flowers, like lavender and aromatic herbs. In rapid sequence (on my skin) the tuberose and powdery iris appear. This phase lasts for about 15 minutes, leaving the stage to a salty, mouthwatering amber with an elegant soft patchouli. The final dry down (after 1 hour) shows a bit of the sharpness of the vetiver, but the benzoin is strong enough to counterbalance it. This is an archetypical floral chypre. I don't find it to be a white flower bomb at all, in the sense that while the flowers are present, especially in the first 30 minutes, it's not about them. It's a complex composition with a lot of different facets. On skin (very different from the impression on paper), it reminds me of the original Magie Noire, but less "noire" and sheerer. It's a classic of perfumery. This is not a scent for those who appreciate the type of fragrances flooding the market now, with their sweet artificial base notes and omnipresent vanilla. It is not a fragrance for those who want "your skin but better" type of scent. This is a classic, timeless perfume. Some would say "old", which is fine for me, because some of the best things in the world, from wine to art, are "old". :-)

Sedbury was my first fragrance from this brand (I've since tried Delina and Pegasus), and it's still the one that's left the biggest impression on me. Upon first spray, Sedbury is a big, loud, very stereotypically French bouquet of white flowers with deep resin rounding out the sweetness of fresh cut jasmine and tuberose. The really special part, as others have mentioned, is that animalic, dirty, manure note lingering somewhere in the base. Lizardbreath is right on the nose in describing it as an 'intoxicating fecal' smell. It gives me such a curious reaction, which I like, and sets Sedbury apart from other florals for me. All the fragrances I've tried from this house are very concentrated, a couple sprays go a long way. I consider Sedbury to be a feminine scent, though men could pull it off as well. EDIT: Still a favorite. Sedbury is a white floral/aromatic combo that's super well blended; no one note stands out from the rest, and as one reviewer said, I wouldn't peg this as a tuberose scent on someone walking by. I find it sexy and alluring.

This smells soooo good. It's not like the tuberose dominant fragrances I usually lean towards, like realistic tuberoses that are stripped pretty much to their core and not enriched with many notes belonging to distant families (i.e. not other white flowers). Instead, I would articulate Sedbury's evolution in three phases: it starts out very aromatic (I get a lot of lavender), quite unisex, like a mild and sweet medicine (there's no harsh herbalness here, just a herbal dimension which makes this perfume more interesting to me). The middle phase is when the tuberose blooms at its most, though it is a warm and spicy tuberose, and the drydown where the tuberose is still very much out there, but really enveloped in warm ambery notes. It also smells very compact, a tangible, not an ethereal perfume, but at the same time, not viscous. All in all, it's a very tender, likeable perfume, perhaps fit for those who like comfort in their white florals and don't go for the wild, gritty, "green eyed" kind of tuberoses.

Notes from the PDM discovery set booklet: Top Notes: Italian mandarin, lavender Heart Notes: jasmine, iris, tuberose Base Notes: Amber, Patchouli Opening: Beautiful, slightly spiced creamy white florals. A little fruity too. Duration: the Mandarin is the fruitiness. The lavender is very light but present. The Jasmin, Iris, and particularly the tuberose take center stage. I can’t underline it enough, it’s so beautiful and elegant. Not overpowering at all. Very feminine and refined. I think it’s leaning towards an older woman but I can see younger women wearing this as well. Drydown: the tuberose can still be smelled, but the amber is much more noticeable. The patchouli is there but more in the background compared to the other two Much later dry down: Just the amber and patchouli I was still able to smell it on my wrist after a shower Overall: I’m a male and I only got a decant of this but I absolutely love it. Simply beautiful.

This is so gentle...would be perfect bridal perfume. Gentle lavender and juicy citrus...I also can pick up on flowers: jasmine, tuberose, iris....they are so smooth, not loud and they rest on base of creamy vanilla and warm amber...Pachouli note is very subdued...I also get a little bit of aquatic feeling. Tuberose will be main player When I smell it I imagine young bride, in a beautiful gown that meets her groom for the first time and she lower her eyes and blushes because he can’t take eyes of her...This is very elegant, sophisticated and youthful...for me it is definitely more feminine than masculine...I also agree that this smells so natural...no synthetic feeling at all Like all PDM perfumes, this one lasts (8+ hours on skin) and projects (at least arm length) just beautifully... I would definitely recommend to try it, it is a great all year round, universal, signature scent worthy perfume

Review from a man. Not a fan of tuberose because it makes me sick, dries my throat, and makes me want to vomit, this one doesn't repulse me, means that the tuberose here is very well done. I can detect a beautiful clean high quality salty ambergris that reminds me of TF Soleil Blanc. The tuberose is very well balanced with the resin giving this a smooth, thick white smokey floral vibe. I can't break the notes down enough, but all I can say this would be a beautiful wedding scent. This would fit perfectly on a modest and intelligent woman. The longevity is absolutely amazing and the projection isn't cloying. Maybe this is the scent of beautiful angels in heaven. Not even a skank is present and is very smooth. I'm a man, but I'm considering a full bottle of this to remind me what would I want my lady to smell.

WOW! I absolutely adore this! I did not expect to like it so much. I smelled it on my mother originally and neither of us particularly liked it on her. On me, though, I honestly can’t get enough. Probably my second favorite PDM, replacing Cassili. Cassili is more in my age range (mid twenties) scent wise but I prefer this smell, it’s so luxuriously creamy. Tuberose is kind of a grandmotherly scent but I still adore it. This is a pretty well done, almost modern I dare say tuberose. I am a huge sucker for ambergris as well as jasmine; tuberose, ambergris, and jasmine are the three most prominent notes on my skin. It’s also a little tangy on the opening, which I attribute to the orange. This is so well blended and luxurious. FBW for me. PDM is hurting my wallet lol.

Sedbury smells like orange cream tuberose on my skin! Smells great! Mmmm! This fragrance is dense and chewy. After a while, it turns to creamy sweet buttery suede on me. Sage and lavender are interesting in the opening but the lavender is fleeting. Sage stays a bit longer to play with the creaminess of the vanilla, benzoin, and amberis. I'm not usually into ambergris but I don't smell anything skanky in Sedbury which works for me. It's very long lasting too! It's interesting and smells great but ultimately I think I'll pass on a bottle right now and enjoy my samples... but I might reconsider in the future. This is YUM! -

A much sweeter and very much watered down Amouage Ubar (for women). They don't smell the same but there are similarities. I also agree with the reviews below. "Sedbury" is a crowd pleaser. BUT it is far from generic. I initially found this a sweet and clean white floral. After 3 hrs, I am glad it's not only that on me. My skin, much to my dismay, amplifies animalic notes which prevents me from wearing "Ubar" (a perfume I adore but can never wear). "Sedbury" is just right enough skank on my skin. Interesting but not too overwhelming (and polite. Lol) edit: I changed my mind this is nothing like Ubar.

Très très très bon parfum Rien a dire et rien a ajouter :) composition trop bonne et très bon mariage des notes la bouteille est d'un design de haut niveau avec un son de fermeture unique en son genre... la projection et la tenu sont modérer son prix est un peu élevé certe, mais ça reste un parfum de luxe, Un Must Have if you can...

I don't know what it is about this fragrance on me, but it smells like straight-up dust. Like powdery florals caked in dust. I even revisited this after opening 6 months ago to see if anything changed.. sadly, I still smell an overwhelming dusty note on my skin.

This is the younger, fresher, and more modern version of White Diamond by Elizabeth Taylor. Soft, yet sophisticated and a very complex powdery scent. I'm complimented often when I wear it, usually by the 45+ crowd.

My second Favorite from PdM ... Its a beautiful creamy white floral fragrance semi-sweet and a bit woody lol Smells Elegant !!! I Loveeeee It!! Long lasting longevity and Heavy sillage!!

I completely understand the divided reviews on this one. Sedbury is a polarizing scent because it is a white floral bomb...and if you aren’t into Tuberose and Jasmine well...you aren’t going to like it... This is truly a beautiful scent. It is a white floral almost tropical and classy older woman scent to my nose. This is not a Summer/beach/resort scent at all, in fact, I would only be able to pull this off in the Fall or early Spring. Winter and Summer would not work because the cold weather in Winter would greenify the Tuberose and end up smelling too sharp and kind of metallic. The hot temperatures in Summer would amplify the white flowers and patchouli and make it smell way too indolic/animalic ... However, in mild temperatures, this smells very floral, feminine and elegant. I only have a small tester vial of this beautiful fragrance and for the moment, I don’t see myself owning a full bottle because though it is beautiful, it’s been done before and I have other fragrances in my collection that I love more than this... And if you must know, these fragrances are: • Rouge Malachite by Armani Privé (though it isn’t exactly the same as Sedbury, it has similar vibes) • Vert Malachite by Armani Privé • Narcotic V by Nasomatto (this one is VERY floral and is quite similar to Sedbury) • Michael Kors by Michael Kors (the original one from way back when) Maybe one day but definitely not worth investing in something I wouldn’t reach for often...

Well... I'm starting to wonder if it is my skin or if Parfums de Marly is way way overhyped? This comes out of the bottle smelling like heaven. I'm a secret tubrose junkie so I had high hopes for this but sadly-like nearly every PDM offering: it dies on me within an hour. It smells beautiful and floral and sweet and dense and deep. I can't say much more because it doesn't last. I wanted it to. I NEED IT TO. I feel dejected. Damn you PDM. Your blends are beautiful but have no lasting power on me. Except for Safanad...whatever you did there...do it on everything. Anyway, I will still probably buy a bottle if I can get a huge discount somewhere but for these prices I can't justify the short lifespan and projection. Scent 8.5/10 mostly linear but actually gets denser over time. Longevity 3/10 why do you hate me PDM!? Sillage 3/10 i could cry. Im sad. You made me cry. Projection 5/10 for the first 20 minutes then virtually nothing on me. Would I buy a full bottle? Yes if it were $100 not the approximately $275 retail the closest dealer sells it for. Who do I recommend it for? Someone who has a habit of buying bottles they dont want and sending them to strangers like me for instance. ;0) Seriously if you dont mind a floral heavy scent and you have less acidic skin chemistry then just find a way to get this. It's beautiful and I'm heartbroken that it doesn't work well on me.

"Sedbury" is a nice little thing most suitable for females. It has some very crowd pleasing qualities - what I get the most is tuberose, but not the sharp/weird one, but more like the creamy version. It isn't though particulary tropical either which sometimes happens with tuberose scents which are enhanced with creamy notes. "Sedbury" is...well...I have to agree with the review below - it does smell a bit watered down, especially the jasmine part. It does feel like someone made a huge white flower bomb and then decided that it won't sell as good as they hope because it wouldn't be crowd pleasing enough, so they just added other notes and watered down the two big flowers until they got something cute and nice and with just the hint of what this scent could have been. That said - I do like "Sedbury", because it's meant to be liked by those who enjoy white florals - and I do. But this niceness and lack of uniqueness doesn't cut the price tag in all honesty. If you're in search for office friendly tuberose-jasmine combo don't spend the $$ for niche, just go for a designer fragrance that doesn't cost so much. P.S. It did have a decant staying power of 7 hours, radiating strongly despite the "safeness" of the scent itself.

Definitely one of the more interesting white floral fragrances I've smelled. Sedbury opens with a unique combination of orangey-bubblegum-sweetness, spicy balsamic warmth, and a slightly vegetal edge. The various facets fit together peculiarly, jostling each other in a happy, amicable sort of way; like an eclectic friend group that nevertheless gets along. I love the melting, creamy, sun-warmed quality to the benzoin and vanilla accented by the tangerine topnote, as well as the subtle, vegetal freshness of the sage. There's also a hint of mineral warmth from the ambergris note, which gives the whole thing an almost subliminal beachiness. It's like a spiced tangerine creamsicle, abandoned to melt in a beachfront garden full of flowering jasmine and sage. In the drydown the peculiar vegetal greenness disappears, along with the slight syrupy liquidity of the tangerine. Sedbury becomes a sweet, powdery amber fragrance, with a bit of lotion-y emollience from the lingering tuberose. The complex, slightly challenging opening is where this fragrance gets me; it loses me a little as it flattens out in the drydown.

Okay, So I wanted to try this one for something different. So I sprayed it on before bed, and pictured a beautiful woman slowly lowering herself on top of me. Ahhhh.... Kim Kardashion... Well who did you expect?! Venus, Goddess of Love?!! That B don't exist! So there I was laying, with Kim as I fell asleep to suddenly awake and realize my cat was tapping me. He wanted to play. A very pretty feminine scent. You can smell the notes colliding and at first you think this is just another mass market drugstore scent. But as the notes dissipated, it had the luxurious soft dry down that the others in this line had. I have to admit, my first thought was that I would hate this on a woman because I truly hated it at first. But after it dried down it was very pretty. My advice is to wait a few minutes after applying before heading out on that date.

I went into this purchase expecting a creamy/powdery white floral bomb. I got nothing of the sorts. To me this is HEAVY citrus; Sweet tangerine is the most predominant note. I get the tuberose, which I initially thought to be on the ‘vintage’ side of things, I was a little wrong. This to me is VERY Mediterranean, fresh and lively, aromatic to the core with a floral background. I like layering this with gucci bloom edp; the two of them meet in the middle of what I wanted each to be. My key note in this review is the complete lack of acknowledgment of the dominant sweet citrus in any review ive seen. I’m 18 and i think i can pull this off in summer- despite Demi Rawling’s branding of this as being for older women. This to me is a Mediterranean summer perfume, for any gender and any age group, not a love, but a solid like.

First impression - very sweet bubblegum tuberose. Super interesting salty ambergris that threads through the dry down. Mellows out to be fairly mainstream, but ends up as a very elegant white floral. Edit: this surprises me every time I wear it - some days it's sweet citrus and fresh air and some days it's grandma florals. I like it both ways, since I like to rock a dated fragrance anyway, but it does make it hard to wear since I have yet to find out what exactly makes it change like that. Is it temperature, the humidity, how active I am that day? I may never find out lol I still do prefer this for cooler weather - even with the citrus opening, it's too cloying for my taste in warm temperatures. It has a faint metallic edge to it that makes it seem 'icy' and in my opinion, perfect for cold, sunny days.

Oh this is good, but don't buy it if you're looking for a tuberose dominant scent. There is so much more going on here and I wouldn't peg this as tuberose on someone walking by me wearing it. I personally find this scent completely unisex. It's creamy tuberose, yes, but on me it's also just as much a dry, resinous amber and ambergris combo. The lavender is quite noticeable as well and it's the nice soothing kind. The tangerine and vetiver together add a faint spiced orange note I associate with Christmas. This is warm, smooth, creamy floral with a meditative ambery and smooth herbal quality. I can't decide if it's sexy or contemplative. I guess it would depend on who is smelling it.

This is an old lady scent, and I mean that in a kind way. It has all those white flowers that one associates with older perfumes. But when worn by the right person, the scent is absolutely beautiful. The tuberose hits you straight in the face, and it starts off smelling kind of medicinal, almost like aldehydes. However, once it dries down, the ambergris and jasmine shine through. I got a ton of compliments when I wore this scent and the projection is amazing!

My man loves it on me. And I feel like a Barbie in it, it's somehow feels beachy to me and so plastic. Very unique. I don't mind, but would prefer Oriana to this

Right away you can detect the Tuberose. Very clean scent that is subtle. Combines well with Jasmine. Not my fave from PDM but a great addition.

Smells like Garnier Ultimate Blends The Silky 7-in-1 Dry Shampoo, the orange bottle one that says with vanilla milk.

Very nice scent but i think only for woman...

This isn't my favorite from PDM, which is fine - as they're quite expensive I don't want to love them all, because can't have them all. On the first spray I get big white florals, mainly tuberose, but unfortunately with a slightly sour edge. I love white florals, but sometimes they do this to me. Maybe this comes from the citruses mixed with all the aromatic notes, even though those don't feel overpowering here, more like a mentholated accent than a full-on herbal scent. Sometimes I get a dirty, borderline animalic note that I dislike, especially in colder temperatures. But there is also something very berry-ish in this, I was so surprised not to see any berries or cassis in the notes list. The drydown is nicer than the opening, I think this needs time to settle on my skin. It's still floral, but also warm, powdery and vanillic. A lovely, almost edible benzoin dominates the base and makes the scent get better the longer I have it on. Likeable, but it just doesn't smell as high-end and magical as the other two I tried from Parfums de Marly, Delina and Safanad.

Wow! That it not what I expected reading the notes! Sedbury starts very medicinal on my skin, and I mean medicinal like I would imagine the medicine from 18th century would smell like. It's kind of like syrup made of flowers and herbs, it's very similar to the dry down of the 1st version of C for women by Clive Christian. I sprayed on my scarf also and on the fabric is a little brighter and more citrusy. It dries down to something more unisex, like spices with dry tuberose. Very interesting! I don't get any powder or creaminess at all. It gives me Rehab by Initio vibes. The cap should be silver :)

To me this falls into older ladies category. It reminds me of Elizabeth White Diamond and Avon Far Away. Quite harsh when first spray, then turn creamy, powdery yet still remains dense. On me, tuberose or jasmine is totally absent and the amber is quite prominent. I would suggest using this during autumn, winter, or on those cooler nights. Not sure why spring receives the most votes - the scent is a bit too heady for spring imho. This one is the least favourite of mine of the four I own, from Delina.

I can’t really smell the aromatics at all. A heavier dose of those notes could make this really interesting, but as it is it’s flat and boring. Generally I have a rule for layering that if I don’t love something, it can only take away from a scent I do love. But I in this case I do wonder if it’s the perfect simple ingredient for certain goals like bringing a femininity to a very woody scent or diluting the fruitiness of a fruity scent.

This perfume smells like mahleb. Nothing more, nothing less. There are no other discernible notes to me, just slightly less bitter mahleb. I did not get any citrus, a faint hint of florals. It smells like mahleb before you even know what the word means. Fine if you’re into bitter cherry-pit fragrances, but I’m not a fan.

I really wanted to be a fan of this. First things first, this is not a tuberose scent, so if you're looking for that, look elsewhere. What it IS, however, is an intense, in-your-face powder scent. It smells almost exactly like Love and White Diamonds, which I have not worn in probably ten years, but would recognize anywhere for its cloying cloud of powder. This is a more herbal, long-lasting version of that perfume. It's a very linear scent - it never transforms into anything other than what it was when you spray it. I occasionally get whiffs of a strong sage smell, which really does not work with the loud jasmine. The benzoin comes out eventually to try and calm things down, but never quite tempers the strong overwhelming powder. My skin usually pulls vanilla out of any perfume and projects that strongly, it's something I have to be very aware of with perfumes, but despite vanilla being in this, it never comes out to play at all -- I cannot overemphasize enough how herbal and strong this perfume is. This is such a swing and a miss from an otherwise great perfume house. I swear I bought this perfume ten years ago for half the cost at JCPenny and it was called White Diamonds. In fact, I might even like that one better, since it doesn't have this strange lingering sage smell throughout the perfume. Strong pass.

If you’re looking for a jasmine-tuberose scent that lacks a strong point of view, and you don’t mind parting with $275 than this is it. Profumum Roma’s Tuberosa and Amouage Love Tuberose are two options that would make a good comparison with Sedbury: they are both long lasting, deep, complex tuberose scents with unabashed quality. And more importantly, deserving of the three figure price tag. The Parfums de Marly presentation is beautiful, and this scent is a pretty white floral, albeit a bit generic. Sedbury is just not worth the money. If Sedbury was priced around $60-75, it might be a contender. Parfums de Marly is, for the most part, an overrated brand. A pass for me, unless I can find this at a big discount, but even then I’d rather go with Elie Saab’s Tuberose No. 9 which I can find online for around $52. So on second thought, a strong pass.

I had high expectations for Sedbury as I love jasmine. I was imagining a slightly animalic, ''dirty'' jasmine reminiscence of horses and stables. To me it's all very tamed,watery(maybe the mix of flowers and cituses),simple and on the safe side . No imagination in this one.. It's just another crowd pleaser cold jasmine-tuberose scent that could easily be a mainstream. Very simple,casual and on my skin it disappears within minutes. Lovely bottle presentation but for that price range there are better jasmine perfumes out there.

This was NOT what I thought it would be! To my nose it smells EXACTLY like kid's treats ,Fruity toffies,Jelly Beans !!! :-) light and airy and bubbly. I don't smell any flowers...the dry-down is just a weak version of the opening. You could smell that it's the same family as Delina and Meliora. ( I don't like Delina but I like Meliora ) . Lasted 3 hours on my skin and mild projecion.

The smell of flowers is as realistic as a pile of flowers that have just been picked from the tree. The scent is beautiful and dimensional. The aroma concentration is quite strong and coz someone don't like Tuburose so having to control the number of sprays if you don't want those around you to be annoyed.

I can't make out any florals, just woody notes, and something sharp (ambergris maybe?). Not feminine at all.

Sedbury really didn't work for me. I had a pretty generous sample, so I was able to wear it a couple times. It didn't improve with a repeated wearing. I didn't enjoy the tuberose in this one. In this fragrance the tuberose is pretty animalic, but it is also fairly light and even a little airy. Something about that contrast kept me from being able to enjoy it. Instead of the animalic aspect adding depth and richness it just added funk and unpleasantness. I prefer a lighter tuberose to be more green and fresh and an animalic one to be lush, rich and even a bit heavy. The opening has a big blast of juicy citrus and I really enjoy it. I found it balanced the funk of the tuberose nicely. It just didn't last long enough on my skin to make the fragrance wearable for me. On a tester strip the citrus never really diappears and masks the funk of the tuberose keeping the fragrance smelling fresh airy and pretty. But on my skin the citrus disappears completely in less than 10 minutes. The aromatics are always very suble just adding a bit of freshness but nothing all that interesting. The vanilla and benzoin join the tuberose for dominance in the drydown. Instead of being in balance with the tuberose, it feels like they are fighting with one another. The vanilla and benzoin aren't overly sweet and they stay light. They don't weigh down the fragrance or make it cloying. Sedbury is very feminine and it is on the more mature side...even a little dated. This is a spring time scent to me. It has that light and airy floral that I like for warmer weather. It might be a bit too much for a very hot day and that animalic edge may not play nicely in high heat. I have no problems with the performance. It has a light to moderate projection. Someone standing near will smell it, but it's not heavy and overwhelming. The lasting power is pretty good, lasting 6-8 hours. Overall I was pretty disappointed in this fragrance. The unpleasant animalic tuberose aside, this scent just wasn't all that interesting. There was nothing special about it. Surely nothing that would make me spend the high price tag for it. There are better tuberose fragrances for a fraction of the price. If you are looking for something that smells like Sedbury without the tuberose, I find Far Away Gold by Avon smells almost identical with ylang ylang replacing the tuberose.

It’s definitely a more mature scent. The patchouli is really vibrant and feels a little old school. This is not my cup of tea, I prefer lighter perfumes.

I hate to say this put all i can smell is kitty litterbox, its a no for me.

I love it. It doesn't smell to me like white diamonds. It's different but better in every way. There's nothing screechy in it. It's creamy, soft. It reminds me of the latex note in a bubble gum after its pungent phase has passed. It's beautiful and has a pinch of yummy overripe banana in there. But it's all so well blended. It's very rounded, nothing really sticks out and yet has so much going on that even if you are anosmic to some of its ingredients, your nose will pick up on any of the rest and ride their wave to olfactory satisfaction. It's designed to target large audience and that makes it a very safe blind buy imo. Not "old" , not "young", not too much of anything - but polished and likable. It will remind you of other perfumes, but those are worth replacing with this one, I think. Make no mistake, though - there's nothing sheer about it either. It has this thickness about it - voluminous and voluptuous "body", that envelops you (all PDM house creations seem to have certain density about them). It's floral indeed, but not in a high-pitched way, but rather creamy. No idea how it projects, but on my skin it lasts good 5 hours and gets more and more faceted and refined as it dries down. It smells gorgeous when I bury my nose in my arm, however, nobody around me made any comments and had to lean in to detect it. It may not stay so close to the skin for you. It may be just me and the fact that I'm the opposite of an oversprayer :) I used to enjoy experimenting with white flowers combos, and at first sniff Sedbury immediately reminded me of what I get when I layer Jo Malone Amber Lily and Angelica Tuberose (sorry if I got the names wrong). Maybe a tiny splash of mon guerlain would give you that lavender note you may need to , but I don't really. Its drydown base reminds me of habanita l'esprit. The comparison won't give justice to Sedbury, its only intended for those who wonder if they should bother try getting their hands on a sample at all. There's no such a hype about this perfume and I think it's underestimated due to aggressive marketing about other PDM creations. Sedbury covers all bases straight off the bat for my needs in terms of versatilility in the white florals department. Due to the price, as much as I like it, I can't justify (yet :)) ) spending this much on ... white florals, unless it were to be my first, forever one and only white floral to own and keep for the sake of owning at least one. Edit: I got me a bottle. Couldn't help it and I'm only further satisfied with my choice. I thought I'd regret it, but not ... it rekindled my passion to try white sweet flower blends (tuberose, lilly etc ...). I'm glad I took my time with all samples from this house. I really could have missed out on this one if I hadn't come back to it after smelling it together with other potent stuff the first time I tried it and stashed it away in my "boring, but maybe ..." bucket :)

Sampling this today. White flowers obviously. I didn't know what to expect from it before application. I don't know why people say it smells 'plastic-y' either? I do not find that bubble gum feeling at all. To me it is a quality fragrance all over. However, yet another time though, I confirm to myself that the note ambergis used in fragrances and my taste are not great friends all together. I feel that note immediately after application and that's when the story for me ends. I do also smell the lavender which appears strongly on the fifth minute upon application, as well. Not a full bottle worthy for me, but to all who likes white flowers mixed with lavender and ambergis, this could be a good one for you.

In search for the perfect tuberose scent I was recommended to try Sedbury. It's quality is undeniable. It lasts and lasts like not many out there. Sweet, cozy and sunny, warm oriental white floral. Very nice scent. A bit too foody in the opening, the tuberose gives it bubble gum vibe. But later it develops in powdery vanilla-benzoin with jasmine taking over. And then it hit me: this is 90% like Avon Far away Gold edition. Niche Far away Gold, slightly different, but still the same powdery vanilla-jasmine heart that evokes orient and is so warm, cozy and sunny. Please don't be offended by comparison to Avon, specially if you haven't tried it.

I'm in Greece. It's high summer on the island of Zakynthos in the early morning. I'm driving through the hills on my way to the harbour at Keri Limni to go sailing for the day. I have to drive through olive groves and at the base of the trees, herbs such as thyme and sage are growing along with wild flowers such as lavender. The sun has already begun to warm the ground and the scent is coming in through the open car window. This is what this beautiful fragrance gives me. Holidays in Greece or an expensive spa retreat in Switzerland. Happy memories. Shame its discontinued.
