Le Sillage Blanc

This is "white Bandit". And I'm in pure heaven. Le Sillage Blanc is the brighter alter ego of Bandit. Where Bandit goes dark, Le Sillage Blanc brings light. You know how on film what is dark becomes white? That is how I see Pissara's interpretation of Bandit in Le Sillage Blanc. It's more airy, more sparkling, more ethereal, more modern, but make no mistake, the Bandit is there. The greens are just fresher and the entire feel is different, but it's like the greatest flanker of Bandit you could imagine. Le Sillage Blanc is like Bandit in a different mood. Imagine Bandit as a dark, stormy forest, Le Sillage Blanc is like the light and sun peeping in between the branches. The green lush forest is still there, but with a glimmer of sparkling brightness and joy. It's like Bandit on Prozac. There are elements of Cabochard and Azuree, among other classic green chypres, but I find it most closely related to vintage Bandit (yellow box) but masterfully reworked into a modern, fresher, lighter (and more crowd pleasing) version. This is my favorite category of fragrance and I have a new one to add to my favorite list. This is gorgeous and I'm so excited that the classic chypre is being reintroduced to possibly a new audience via Dusita. If you love the chypres it is being compared to, you will fall in love with Le Sillage Blanc. It's one of the nicest green chypres I have ever smelled. I have anticipated trying Le Sillage Blanc more than any fragrance in quite some time and sometimes a large build up can lead to a let down. But not in this case. It's stunning and I am beyond thrilled to see someone bringing this style back into the forefront, in a new way yet still retaining a classic, vintage feel. 10/10 for me.

Dusita is a house I've wanted to explore for a while, having read many good things. I bought a discovery set and Le Sillage Blanc is the first for me to try. It is a bitter, herbal green chypre, smoky and leathery that owes a great deal to Germaine Cellier. I recently reviewed the original Vent Vert, and the dense, green opening and mossy chypre drydown are evident here, as well as the dark, smoky leather of Bandit and Jolie Madame. Although it's not a Cellier creation, it perhaps resembles Cabochard the most, that dense, leather chypre which was also inspired by Cellier. LSB is more intense than the modern Cabochard EDT, however. The realistic green notes are comforting and restorative, as well as serving their purpose in such an avant-garde, unapologetic scent. LSB has a vibrant, grassy green opening thanks to the vegetal galbanum, enhanced to perfection with bitter herbal notes, green and damp. The artemisia is inky-dark, and there is a woody undertone, petitgrain-like, reminiscent of freshly snapped twigs. A hint of neroli adds some smooth citrus. The smoky leather accord develops slowly in the background, marrying beautifully with the bitter herbs and deep green accord. Dark and earthy, patchouli adds some dirtiness, rounding out the vintage-style oakmoss. Smoky and ashy, it is dense, but manages to be smooth despite the dryness. It becomes musky as it dries down, with ambrette used to great effect in softening this tough leather chypre as it fades. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. A unisex spring/autumn scent, LSB delivers earthy, leathery goodness, an excellent modern chypre made with top-quality ingredients. A homage to the classics. Le Sillage Vert. 4.5/5.

Oh lordy, I have been sampling dozens and dozens of fragrances in the past year and literally none of them are making it past a day's wear. That is, until Le Sillage Blanc. I purchased a sample set of Dusita's fragrances and so many of them feel/smell like flankers of others. Each day, I try a new one and wear it for a day. Today was my 5th sampling from the perfumer and I was expecting to not be particularly wowed given the prior four days of meh. Not having any awareness of what experience or sense this one was compiled of, I dove right in. After nearly 6 hours, here I am with Le Sillage Blanc floating around me and it was worth the wait. For me, this is early Summer, freshly dried hay flakes in the barn with the very unexpected sense of how riding pants smell under aching thighs after a very long and hard ride through a dirty earthy trail flanked by mature herbs and grasses that your horse persistently pulled at the reins to nip bites of throughout your ride. And yes, you can smell your frothy equine friend in the damp ankle creases of your soiled leather jodhpurs that rubbed upon his soft belly, even a smidge of the insect repellant you brushed into your gelding's coat to keep him comfy along the ride, too! But that's not a bad thing because all the notes playing together evoke pure joy of the best day in a year; bright, freshly dry, sensual and oh so satisfied! Love!!!

Yes, definitely a modern and timeless chypre. Not all chypres are easy to wear but this one is definitely one of the easier ones. The galbanum, leather and oakmoss are very evident from the start. It's pretty potent. Galbanum, leather and oakmoss are equally strong on me. Bandit is much heavier and Cabochard is far more leathery and less green. I find this much easier to wear. This is much more of a green scent with tobacco. The wormwood, crisp neroli basically bolster the verdant heart of this creation. Gradually the smoky tobacco comes through and seems to become more evident with time. The bitter aspect also becomes more evident from the wormwood. It does now remind me more of RP Bandit but not as heavy. It's more of a big green hazy cloud with tobacco and woods becoming more evident with time. I'm not sure why it's called white wake. There is a clean sort of aspect to this but the tobacco adds this soft earthy smokiness. I really like this scent. I can imagine the wealthy loving it. It's exclusive because of its price tag. It's unisex with a slight leaning to masculine and pure class in a bottle. I can easily imagine some beautiful person dressed all in Armani wearing this. In this cool room I get a moderate sillage and longevity.

Instantly applies massive dewy green that’s more creamy than brisk. Floral watermelon rind. Orange blossom and cucumber with a tasteful floral note I can’t pin down. Quite fresh despite mossy coziness. Gorgeously projects nostalgic vegetable garden. Frankly stunning, like speakers you can turn too loud without sounding bad. Not sweet, powder, bitter. Floral is so appealing, even as I guy, I can’t get enough. Shaving cream component does a lot of the heavy lifting. As someone extra turned off by soap/shampoo/powder, the fact it doesn't bother me speaks volumes. Closest I’d compare to is Dyptique’s “L'Ombre dans l'Eau” which has an impressive potency and similarly addictive floral note that may lean more rose. This is extra special and a must-own. 1ST REVIEW: Dewy, mossy, green with creamy white flowers that are almost fruity. Brisk, fresh, morning grass with effervescent oriental woody incense and mandarin orange. Exquisitely clean without being soapy. Balanced by a warm undercurrent. Tremendously calming, delicate zen while still being bright and intriguing. Combo of scents are intoxicating. Spicy and clean, without being sweet - it’s delightful! I wouldn’t hesitate to use the word “masterful.” Unique and gorgeous!
