Montri

A fabulous scent, and worth every penny spent. It's my first Dusita scent, and frankly I hadn't paid any attention to any of the previous ones, even when I saw them reviewed here. I just happened to come upon the announcement about this one a mere 3 days ago and saw all that nutmeg, rose and oud and went overboard and bought the smaller bottle. Or was afraid I'd gone overboard, even though they were giving away a 9-vial "discovery kit," and a 3-little bottle kit of some name. I worried; there you go rosequeen, dropping a wad on a scent you haven't smelled and very few people have smelled. It's a great scent, but different than what I thought it would be like. It is absolutely not a rose/spice bomb. The oud is very gentle. You're not getting a Tom Ford scent or a Montale, Memo, or anything at all like that. The juice is very much like an old school French parfum from maybe the late 1950-1975 era. Like a Hermes Amazone parfum or that Parfum d'Hermes. Montri doesn't smell like either of them, but it's in that high class really French mode from that era. And the feeling you get when you spray it on is almost like dabbing on an old Guerlain parfum out of a stoppered bottle. It has that old school exquisite feeling to it you don't get very often with new fragrances. To my nose anyway, it's very much a rose and iris scent. I'm never good at making the "vote for ingredients" function work here, but I smell more sandalwood than either oud or patchouli. Above all, it's an adult fragrance. Women or men. There's nothing frothy or giggly with this perfume, and neither will you feel like a teenager wearing it. You don't wear this to meet someone in a bar. You might wear it to meet someone who owns the block in which the bar is located. Or wear it when you're with someone in your life who you'd like to have see your serious side, for once. It's that important a fragrance. Oh, and I ordered it from Dusita's website in France and full marks to them. I ordered it the 29th, they shipped it the 31st and I got it this afternoon, June 1, in California. For 15 euro and tracking. I thought I'd have to wait at least a week. Great packaging material, no worry there either. Just the best.

This beautiful, sentimental perfume has a lovely yet wistful story behind it and it’s inspired by Pissara’s father - Montri - and it makes a homage to him. Unfortunately he passed away in 2006 and because of the respect of his memory I felt for long time that I don’t have words enough to describe this scent as beautifully as I wanted to. The notes which are used around Agarwood was Montri’s most beloved fragrance notes and Pissara has made an amazing job to capture all emotions in this scent. Because of my own overly happy childhood yet some emotional blocks related to it with my father, the tears just started to flow while writing this. 🥹 ❤️ Montri opens up with a cloud of spices and a greenish Petitgrain but really quickly I get a delightfully sensual combination of mellow roses (May and Damask) and light leather and oud. Those are the main notes which mingle in the air and I’m more than happy to find that combo which is wearable in warmer weather too. A leather note is hard to me pull off when it ́s warm and if it’s mellow and dark but this is really nicely done a soft whiff, just perfect. In my skin I don’t separate Jasmine (like a perfumer’s own Dried Fruit Accord neither) so I think this is worth to try even for those ones who doesn’t like Jasmine. Ylang-Ylang brings a little bit sweetness with Orris Butter and the latter one makes warm, powdery and delicate effect. Montri settles down in a base with Oud Palao, Oak, Cedar, Vetiver, Tonka Bean, Patchouli and Sandalwood. This juice really starts to shine in the warm weather and the warmer is the skin the prettier, softer and warmer is the aroma of it. In my cold skin during wintertime this was amazingly different than on my husband’s warm skin and on my skin now in a warmer weather. On paper: What beautiful rose! It's no girly rose either, it's a fully saturated rosegarden for plant lovers kind of rose ;) It has a lot more going on besides that but I find it difficult to describe. I should wear this for a day to learn more about it. On skin: The same beautiful rose. The leather seems more clear now, and it's the freshest leather I've smelled to date. The rose and leather, some woodiness and all the rest make for a seamless blend. I really love it because to me it has all the beauty of the rose without it being a flowery perfume. So smartly done and thoroughly enjoyable. You know how you need thick leather gloves and professional shears when you handle roses? All these scents seem to be at play here. The green and wood from the stems, the leather from the gloves, the mineral oil and wet stainless steel from the pruning shears. I can't help but wonder if Montri had an actual rose garden :) Such a poetic perfume, perfectly matching Pissara's story and brand. Gorgeous! PS: I kept coming back to my sample and liked it more and more. I just ordered the 50ml bottle from Dusita :) PPS: my 50ml just arrived :) And guess what, the package contained a sample of Pelagos! I ordered a sample of Montri after reading an article here on F. It does indeed stand out in the sea of "meh" fragrances I've sampled lately. The opening is rather fresh and citrusy with a whiff of fruitiness, on my skin. Elegantly restrained use of Saffron, gives this a silky smooth minimalist texture. Other than Saffron (which runs throughout the entire composition) no one note stands out to steal the show. Notes do play peek-a-boo, though. Which may have something to do with ambient temps. It does seem to deepen as it wears and warms on the skin. I have a feeling that it's one of those scents that can smell different on every person. As I normally avoid anything with oud. Whatever kind used here is the kind I can get with. Montri has very good sillage and longevity. It's no beast, but also no fading memory of a scent, either. It holds its composure nicely, especially on clothing. If you don't consciously catch whiffs of it throughout the day, others do. FBW quality in my book. The price point, however... 8.5/10

I got a sample of Montri along with Rosarine and immediately loved Rosarine, but Montri was too... something. I still don't know, it just disagreed with me. I put it down for a couple months. The chest where I keep all my perfumes is close to where I sit and study in my room and at the time the bottle of Montri was closest. I kept getting whiffs of it without really thinking about what it was I was smelling. At some point the scent became pleasant—I would be sitting there with my laptop, inhaling deeply. I sprayed it lightly (and very hesitantly) a few weeks ago and oh my god, so much beauty and warmth! Montri reminds me a lot of Knowing, not because of the scent itself, but rather the body, the fullness of the experience of wearing it. But while Knowing is outward in a sense—a coat or a thick scarf, something protective and covering—Montri is very very internal. Like a rose garden I can retreat to.

There are few masculine rose-oud combinations that are this well blended, and especially few that are as light as this one is on the oud. The oud adds just a nice hint of piquancy here, but it's light enough here not to be overwhelming (which is unfortunately very easy to fall into with oud fragrances). The saffron, the fruit notes, and the ylang-ylang in combination make this smell also a little different than most rose fragrances, to this very nice perfume's advantage. My sample only lasted 3-4 hours, which is less than most people report: that was my only disappointment with this otherwise superb perfume from Dusita, which regularly makes some of the most complex and beautifully blended fragrances in the niche perfume world. You could wear this in any weather or at any time of day.

I was really excited to be the first to try this in my state from my local boutique a few weeks before the launch. The owner asked me if I thought it was too masculine, but I think it's perfectly unisex. I don't get a lot of the top notes except a bit of spice and saffron, to me it's a beautiful rose- leather accord with the woods combining into an incense-y note. This is probably the only oud I've tried where it didn't drown everything else out, it blends in perfectly. It reminds me a bit of Guerlain Santal Royale and Encens Mythique, and the rose is dark like Bottega Veneta Eau de Velours. Moderate sillage. I applied it in the evening and by morning it was still there, but mostly rose by then. I love this so much and was really grateful to have the opportunity to try it early!

Montri by Dusita, was an early blind request for a fathers day gift offer, and Love it! Reading that it was a homage by Pissara to her dad perked my interest, and having her sample set, was already a fan. Even watched a few reviews, so, it was not a reckless choice . It has exceeded expectations, though, an exceptional oudh fragrance. The leather, florals, spices and fruity accord are all blended perfectly in the background harmony, elevating the beautiful Oudh to it's rightful place. Oudh Infini is a masterpiece, but Montri may be for me, more versatile, wearable and just as excellent. The description: "emphasis on suavity" says it perfectly. Thank you Pissara, couldn't be more pleased. Excellent longevity, moderate projection and unique artistry, Not at all redundant.

I have a bottle of this perfume. It lasts about 10 hours, with a medium-high intensity at the start that will stay at medium intensity most of the time and with very good projection. The first sensation that I have of the perfume is of a perfume where we will find the set of woods and leather that in their exit are impregnated with the aromas of a spice market with the extreme of aromatic plants. Fantastic the moment when oregano, cinnamon, saffron comes to the nose... I love it. Over time, the spices and aromatic plants soften, giving way to wood and leather, but these aromas still have slight textures from the rest of the aromas. It is a striking, attractive and very interesting perfume. Although it is a unisex niche perfume, in my opinion it is more masculine.

Montri is nothing short a gorgeous oud rose fragrance, not being too out of the ordinary nor too boring. It is for me at least one of my favorite takes on this DNA, within Dusita’s line this is top 3 for me. I am a sucker for this kind of emotional marketing - but Pissara really did translate her compassion into the bottle. It is well worth paying for and while the oud doesn’t stick out, I don’t think that’s a downside. It is blended perfectly as it is and clearly there was a vision. I hope to one day do something as well executed, a memoir of loved one through scent.

I love this scent... it’s a gorgeous woody masculine Chypre/aromatic fougere hybrid. I think maybe she should’ve left out the “oud palao” notes and just called it “woody notes” as the language seems to be throwing some people off. This is far from an oud rose or even an oud scent, in general. Love rbalkris reviews for the most part(and his perfumes are fantastic) but I don’t see at all where he’s coming from with “middle eastern vibes”... Much more of a classic French affair. To my senses at least! Well trodden path but the walk is just gorgeous.

Mysterious with a vintage vibe. The brand sent this to me as a sample, and I was unsure if I’d love it due to the rose notes. And yes, the first 10 minutes are very rose-centric for me. I don’t like rose at all, but I still adore this fragrance — that says a lot. This melts into something more beautiful once the sharpness of the rose falls away. The oud is gentle but powerful. The orris root provided a deep heart. A real grown up fragrance.

perseeque Said it. To me this is a lighter much more usable version of Oudh Infinity. Love this the moment I tried it. Don’t get me wrong, this is NOT watered down Oudh Infinity. Just similar enough. Edit. Unfortunately the on skin longevity was only about barely six hrs. As for on clothing, after ten hrs it was still weakly projecting. Also unfortunately that the dry down for this is not as pleasing as that of OI.

There is certainly poetry in Pissara’s compositions, quiet refinement and effortless understated elegance. They are multidimensional, complex, slightly nostalgic. This makes me think - it’s not just a scent, this is a proper perfume. And it is not easy to pinpoint - is it woody, spicy or floral? Discreet or expansive? It is at the same time somehow very French and very Thai. Captivating and serene, contemplative.

This perfume is childhood memories bottled. I don't know how she did it but she was able to capture the persistent and pervasive scent of my grandmothers house. The comfort, the real wooden furniture, the incense. It's all beautifully captured. It evokes the most fondest memories I have of relaxing life in the country side. A real tear jerker.

Another high quality fragrance released by Parfums Dusita. I was lucky enough to receive a 15ml decant of this to review. It’s a very beautiful Oud base unisex fragrance. Inspired by the poetry of her late father, she created a masterpiece for both genders to enjoy. You will enjoy wearing this beautiful fragrance. Full review on my channel.

Inspired stuff, oud rose, but not middle eastern at all. Deeply east asian. Opens spicy, with an interesting dried fruits accord. Rose is throughout. Base is woods, oud, and animalic musk. Classic composition, but unique. Really really good. Another banger from dusita. Go Pissara!

This uses many of the same ingredients as Oudh Infini with a more tame oud note and no civet. Neither masculine nor feminine, Montri adds spices and dried fruit to the mix while maintaining the classic French thing Pissara is known for.

I love a good rose/oud. Montri is in my top 3, along with Epic 56 and Roja Aoud. This is so extravagant and beautiful, a true masterpiece in my opinion!

In a very personal homage to her poet father, Pissara Umavijani created this soft rose-oud scent, from whom it takes its name. Rose-oud is a classic accord associated with the Middle East, and forms the crux of this scent but there is so much more going on here, and the other notes serve to enhance the rose-oud beautifully. Montri opens with a beautiful saffron note that paves the way to the leather accord that emerges later. Dried fruits add rich, honeyed sweetness, yet are subdued. Rich rose follows, powdery and dark, enhanced to perfection by warm spices. As it develops, the oud slowly comes to the fore, dry and animalic, becoming increasingly leathery as it develops. Powdery florals complement it, with iris and jasmine emerging alongside the rose. Ylang ylang rounds out the bouquet, more lush than the other florals, but without overshadowing the rose. Sandalwood emerges as it dries down, adding elegant, warm depth to the spicy florals, and melding beautifully with the dark oud. Patchouli adds earthiness, complementing the rose to perfection. It becomes richly woody at the drydown stage, punctuated by smooth tonka, musky leather, powdery rose and a sprinkle of spices. It fades to a musky-woody skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. A beautifully-composed masculine-leaning scent (unisex depending on taste), this is a soft rose-oud surrounded by rich woody goodness. Best worn in autumn/winter. Utterly elegant, this is a wearable, lightweight take on a classic accord. 4/5.

Another great creation by Dusita. Genderless, but an immediate impression of an elegant, noble male comes to mind. In his private study, ink in decorative glass, fountain pen in hand, spacious room, desk made out of solid oak. Clean cotton shirt on, probably ironed. Possibly a suit since it feels spring - autumn to me. A bit of cold air from an open window. Forest not too far away. A lot of fertile earth in his neighbourhood. It smells a bit lonely. A lot of paper around. Letters to write and send. Since I love to write on paper with ink, preferably with a smooth metal tip of a pen... And since I love solid items long ( I had a favourite desk out of solid wood that I lost to time and forcefullness of parents with regret) this scent is quite a love in the surprising -memories back- way. On itself it is refined, polite, gentle, tidy, clean, clear and refreshing in a restrained way. A comfort scent. A lot of clear, cold air mixing with hot one. The cold wave rich with aromas of plants in far background, the warm one with scented particles of beloved possesions.

This was a blind buy. In the air, Montri reminds me of Chanel No. 19 which I did not expect! Looking at the notes they both have rose, ylang ylang, orris and/or iris, sandalwood and Vetiver in their composition. Montri is more resinous than No. 19– richer, more balsamic! I really like it, which is not surprising since No. 19 is one of my first loves! Now they’re definitely not identical! Up close they’re definitely different! So it wouldn’t be redundant to own both! Montri for me is going to be just for the colder months since I find that it’s stronger. Once the opening dries down, Montri leaves an intoxicatingly airy, buttery smooth, sweet scent trail! I can detect the soft leather note in this phase, which is really something special! I really really like it! Not a safe blind buy for most but if you like ambery/ resinous perfumes, I think you’ll really like this! One of Dusita’s best creations! I also love Anamcara and Erawan from the house!

Montri is an interesting take on the classic rose/oud/saffron, for it doesn’t smell conventional or imitative, instead rather unusual and unconventional. It’s nowhere near as stinky as something like Oudh Infini, it’s far more wearable but no less unique. I find actually that the saffron dominates, which is particularly clean, honeyed and almost metallic as it combines with a delicate soapy rose water. Sticky dried fruits, warm spices and thick leather help to intensify the sweetness of the saffron, whilst the oud and patchouli are rather subtle - lending only a dank earthiness more than anything. It’s nice, I enjoy wearing it but I don’t love it enough to buy a full bottle. It comes off smelling almost like gasoline and metal; without the oiliness. Not a love for me.

It's an incredibly beautiful rose and oud. One of the best. Reminds me of the original ones that started the trend, over 10 years ago, before they all became way too sweet. It's simultaneously familiar and yet unique. There's a real smokiness from the oud. Truly a woody rose. Magical, deep, elegant, refined. This is definitely a standout from Dusita. I would pay the price for this quality. Every note is there, saffron, oud, rose, leather, dried fruits, but in perfect balance. Nothing harsh, synthetic, or tooth-achingly sweet. Well done.

A weird one for me! I hate the opening -- it reminds me of the oregano oil I drink when I have a cold (effective but unpleasant).but it only lasts about half an hour before the flowers and saffron kick in. And the dry down is the best of the Dusitas IMO (I've tried all but the discontinued Oud Infini.) Warm sweet and a little spicy with a noticeable but not overbearing oud note. I like it so much I'm considering buying a bottle and just suffering through the first stage.

氣泡感的辛香、動物騷、深邃的木質以及細緻的白花一起帶出苦甜滑順的藏紅花,氣味開出飽滿有層次、微有點恢宏但同時也保有品牌一貫的細緻優雅,喜歡東方調、可以接受動物感香氣的,應該都會喜歡 氣味的轉場是果乾香,緩緩帶出下一個主角玫瑰,花香的處理是屬於品牌調性清麗不張揚的,帶著蜜甜、茶香,意象上是含苞的紅玫瑰,這裡我覺得很美,在藏紅花和烏木的環繞之下,玫瑰沒有用艷壓的方式呈現,花香有一種飄著的輕巧,不喧嘩的橋接氣味的兩端,維持調性的同時也利用主key(烏木)作出氣味的明暗對比,Pissara的花香和弦只能說高超,最近拿到Cavatina的試香,真的空谷幽蘭本蘭! 烏木最後登場,這裡應該用了和Oudh Infini類似的accord(不過強度低很多啦),貼皮仔細聞有一些野生動物騷臭的面向,不過擴散出來沒有,幽微的花香持續的鋪墊,加上粉質、乾燥的檀木香氣,深邃的烏木提亮了許多(甚至有一點皂感),整體收結在溫潤滑順的烏木玫瑰香氣

i have become a fan of dusita fragrances and my most recent acquisition is a bottle of montri. for me this is a wonderful blend of sweet and sour. something both spicy and floral lying on satin silk. silk in general reminds me of a smooth almost vinegary ghost in some hemp. these notes are not really in the mix, but rather a vegetal mood which evokes a play of contrasting scents that is laden with nostagia.

Montri grew on me. Now when the weather is getting cooler I have started to get whiffs of the oud note and it is indeed very natural and alive. Although I think the fragrance should not be considered an oud centered one, it scratches the oud itch. I am beginning to like Montri more than Oud Infini. Elegant and mysterious beauty it is.

It reminds me a lot of Oudh Inifini but it's lighter and way more wearable and has a bit more rose in it. A great alternative if OI's too strong for you, also from $ perspective.

I thought it smells like a flower shop, but then a friend said it's baby powder and I can't un-smell it.

This is ok but I've smelled better rose oud combos. It's quite heavy handed and not blended very well. Personally a better version of this would be Hermes Galop. Or January Scent Projects Smolderose. I own both of them and they are stellar. This is not her best effort. My favorite from her continues to be Splendris which is on my want shelf for a FB and Rosarine which I own in a FB. For me this is a male Rosarine and while it's ok I just think the leather and oud are a bit heavy handed.

As a lover of oriental oud roses, I paid my attention to the airiness and melting edgelessness of leather and earthy oudh in this fragrance. the fragrance is so elegantly blended. On the other hand, I find this also a little soapy what giving a high-class French impression of the fragrance. A beautiful Oudh fragrance for the right wearer, but not my style, dressing up for this I'd feel like a bum in borrowed Cucci shoes...

Not every Oud/Rose perfumes smell alike, but they're still Oud/Rose. If you like the DNA definitely go for it, high quality ingredients, great execution with average performance, and a good twist with leathery spicy undertones on an emotional and overly saturated genre.

this scent tries to be too much at once for me, i hate spicy but this isnt horrible its like a refined ambery resiny spice with some irisy-rosy powder peaking through decent performance and sillage nothing crazy

I’m getting Duck pink toilet bowl cleaner at the start and it turns into expensive hotel ladies room smells *cry*

A nice but largely redundant spicy Oriental scent which works around the Rose Oud structure (but has almost no Oud in it). The perfume opens with spicy notes of nutmeg, saffron, cinnamon, dried fruits and oregano. The heart is mostly floral with rose, orris and slight hints of ylang and jasmine. The perfume settles on an ‘oud palao’ mix - a fancy perfumer term when an Oud accord is used instead of the real thing. This ‘oud like’ base is created mostly with cedar, vetiver, oak, tonka, patchouli and slight hints of real oud and sandalwood. The unisex scent has moderate to strong projection and good longevity. All in all, there are many better higher quality variants of this scent with a similar make up in the market and with real high quality oud in generous amounts. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a bad scent but it is one you have smelt several times before especially if you are into woody Orientals. Like a basic economy version of the much superior Oudh Infini from the same brand. Enjoy!

Not for me. The spicy opening and heavy rose feel suffocating. I have loads of respect for the perfumer and the brand, but this scent was a scrubber for me.

This is really something made for experienced noses, highly complex, very technically intricate, not extremely unique, but definitely interesting. So the first thing I get here is a leather compound often listed as saffron, that has a certain slightly bitter and dark almost leafy green quality to it, one of the quinolone compounds I think but it has been a while so I’m not certain which one. Other formulas in which it is evident is Heeley Rose Aria and FM Rose and Cuir. As you can see from the previous listed fragrances, this sort of leather note goes well with rose, my theory is that the contrast and slight astringency reminds of the a rose at its peak ripeness where warm, slightly funky facet are produced as the plant starts to wilt. That’s exactly the imagery I get from Montri, a big deep red intoxicating rose that is a few days away from wilting. While this big rose accord seems to be the central accord for the first few hours, it feels like it is being experienced through a very delicate filter of iris powder and spice, very fine and elegant but also clearly spicy and vivid. The base notes are where I lose some of the initial enthusiasm. First of all the obvious questions, is this another real oud offering like Oud Infini? Unfortunately not, as the price difference also dictates, the base is a tasteful and not too obvious oud recreation with musk and sandalwood compounds, it largely acts as a filler to boost and further bolden the spicy rose accord. Over time it settles to a smooth musky woody dry down, with a classical French feminine backbone. Overall very nice, bold and temperamental something I imagine working on a woman with a very confident personality in her late 30s or 40s. Not my favourite Dusita but still very impressive.

This is a fragrance masterpiece for me that evokes memories from my childhood, so I am happy to finally own a bottle. I think only one other fragrance has done this for me, and that is Guerlain Mitsouko. They are both different facets of things I remember from childhood, going through the closets, drawers and chests belonging to my grandmas and great-grandmas, being in their houses infused with the spices used to cook, the herbs and fruits drying on shelves. My culture is Chinese, and there is something in the various scents, the spices, the textiles, everything from Asian cultures of older times, that come together to make these unique scents, and Montri does the exact same thing for me, even though it is a different scent. The roses are plucked fresh from the garden, then brought into the house where they mingle with the ever-present scents of spices and dried fruit. Other flowers from the garden waft in to mix with the rose, but only in support, because the rose is the main event. There is a slightly dusty, powdery dryness to the scent, mingling with the woodiness from aged furniture and floors. A hint of leather and straw/hay comes out, giving a balancing animalic note. Dusita fragrances are always a journey for me from first spray to drydown, and I love all of them, even the ones that don't work for me. But this one, this one is most special for it's precious nostalgic qualities. I'm actually tearing up remembering things, as I'm at the age where I've lost most of those people I love, and they are the reason for these scents. It makes so much sense that this is Pissara's homage to her father. Much love to her for this one.

We begin with a gauzy veil of spices from the saffron, nutmeg, cinnamon and coriander which float soft and cloud-like around the skin. This spice bath folds into a dried fruits accord that is aromatic and subtly sweet. It's a note I particularly relish in fragrances such as Ursa, Camel and Tobacco Vanille, lending a dry yet deeply comforting warmth to the scent. It's rich, gourmand, almost liqueur-like. The dried fruits experience stays with me for most of the journey and begins to develop layers. I get a sweet floral twist from the rose and a powdery, lightly buttery patina from the orris root. In its final stages, the sweetness shifts into a more woody territory as the oud palao begins to bloom. This is by no means a strong and overwhelming oud but a deep and fragrant one, sinuously blending with notes such as patchouli, vetiver and sandalwood to create a firm woody cradle upon which the scent rests. I somehow picture being in a well-worn armchair before a crackling fire, breathing in warm, comforting smells of home-cooked food. Montri feels almost transparent at times yet is a fragrance that has incredible depth and subtlety. It's a moderate performer on me, projecting lightly in the first hour or two before moving much closer to the skin. A scent that shines in slightly cooler weather and more intimate settings. It may not jump out at one immediately but is quietly affecting, a work of olfactive art that feels as tender and life-affirming as a father's hug.

I happen to enjoy the discontinued Oudh Infini, the most famous and notorious fragrance from this house. I have a good backup supply of that fragrance. I heard that Montri was like that Oudh Infini but with the barnyard animalics dialed back. I was curious to know what the other ingredients would smell like without the pungent oud overpowering everything else. I was able to get a bottle of this cheap secondhand. Whoa! The first sniff immediately reminded me of Oudh Infini with the fermented oud. Is it as animalic? Not quite, but it's still challenging for the vast majority of people. I'll put it this way: Oudh Infini is like being in a stable, walking up to a horse and stepping into a fresh pile of horse s--t. Montri is like standing right outside the of that same stable with the door open. And you still have a little horse s--t on the bottom of your boot. 10/10

jammy jammy to death rose. and it smells like a mixture of rose and geranium, like it encompasses some aquatic, watery, petal-like rose that’s insultingly sweet—like, it’s sweet but to a gaslighting degree; it’s forcing you to believe it’s not sweet, and that’s all coming from the geranium. but the rose is undeniably jammy. also, i think it’s mixed with edible elements like honey or beeswax—not vanilla, but something viscous and amber-like; maybe even animalic, which is why i say honey. i do get some creamy, lowkey sickening woods. the drydown is better but still definitely not for me. do i get oud? not stinky enough, but maybe. and sandalwood? spices, but not sure what—just there to add to the complexity. upon spraying it, i thought it was very simple. after giving it some time, i changed my mind. it does appear to have changed quite a bit.

The floral-oud accord in this does evoke a lighter and more easy-going Oudh Infini. That said, this is still far from your standard agreeable mass-market fare. It almost feels like the same notes of Oudh Infini were used but the proportions of the whole perfume were reorchestrated. Montri is more translucent, abstractly floral, and musky, whereas Oudh Infini is compelling and dense. The way it's all balanced, Montri does feel more like a love child/blend of eastern and western perfumery traditions. The oud is present and unmistakable, but it is something that adds shading and character to a top-mid-base "classically French" perfume. The style evokes some of Areej le Dore's florals that straddle that same line. I feel as if fans of Ottoman Empire, Inverno Russo, and Koh-i-Noor could appreciate this scent.

An incredibly smooth Lao (Palao=pa (wild/jungle) + lao=from Laos) oud wrapped in a rich, complex shawl of spices and jammy rose. Rather than being blended in parallel with the oud and spices, the rose appears as an aftertaste, which is something I haven't experienced in a perfume before. It’s hard to explain, but imagine tasting a complex dish where certain nuances emerge long after the initial bite?? that same recognisable jammy, sweet, sugary rose comes at the very end of your inhale. for sure Pissara is showing off her skill, pure magic!:) I also get a distinct sharp soapy facet alongside a quiet oud skank. *sits very, very close to the skin with super low projection. At the same time, the spray leaves a generous oily stain, so be careful with clothes.

Initially after spraying, I felt like I was in an old house during a rainy day: the mixture of herbal medicines, gingerbread cookies on the table, books with the leather cover, clothes in the wooden dresser, and flowers from the garden. It is a definite olfactive creation while not as wild as Moth from Zoologist. Also, it reminds me of herbaceous rose-oud from natural components, Cowichan Rose by Wild Coast Perfumery. Previously, my favourite leather rose was Oud Malaki by Chopard. But I feel like it is a bit too “safe” for me now and ready to experiment. Edit: I found the interesting combinations when layering with Wulong Cha and other summer scents. And also, on hot skin the Montri is very gentle.

Spicy, elegant and warm. I especially love the dry-down, when a comforting, ever-so-slight woodiness comes forward and imparts a touch of sweetness and heat. I feel like I need to dress up a little to wear this; it makes me want to rise to the occasion. (Maybe just a clean shirt; it’s dignified, but far from stuffy.) In the past year, I tested and bought quite a handful of Dusitas. And I started to see common patterns in many of them, tropes that traveled from one fragrance to the next. This one is different though: it represents all faces of oud at once.
