Pelagos

Like most of Dusita's perfumes it takes for a while to understand them. I have had this now many weeks but didn't want to hurry with the review since mostly those ones written too quickly are full of misleading opinions. Pelagos opens up in an earthy way with a beautiful aroma of Iris. First it feels more like a flower than Orris butter even if Iris is not listed there. The scent is crispy and fresh as well but it's not that typical salty like breeze from the sea or watery like freshness, it's different and unique take on it. Quickly it starts to develope into herbal and smooth blend and you can find Dusita's calming, meditative signature style to use all ingredients. Iris changes to Orris butter and the whole blend starts to feel warmer. The blend feels as well woody and a little bit creamy but it has a refreshing character throughout the life of the fragrance. Tonka beans here add green feeling to the scent. It's not sweet at all. Patchouli is gentle, it's woody and earthy but it's not that dark, deep and potent note which is known from so many Rose scents. On my skin the leather note is unnoticeable but on my husband's skin I can get tiny whiffs of it when the scent is lingering in the air. Pelagos, like all Dusita's gorgeous perfumes, performs in a clever way. It changes the gender and on my skin it feels astonishingly feminine, like fresh, herbal Iris scent, whereas on my husband's skin it's masculine, woody, herbal scent with a hint of Orris and leather. All the notes are more delicate on my skin. If you love Dusita's dna, you will love this as well. It's not a typical fresh scent so test it especially if you are not familiar with the brand. The projection of Pelagoss is less than average (this is extract) but the longevity is all the day. This review is based on a sample. I really don't know why the notes are so wrong. I only understand if someone gets mossy or Vetiver like smell but even those nuances comes from the notes below. I am so surprised the ratings are not higher. To me personally, this is a masterpiece. I ordered the full bottle directly after I finished my sample which I couldn't stop wearing until it was gone. As it is a common theme with Dusitas, the opening is a bit challenging. At this stage you would think hm, we have a rather masculine, slightly bitter aromatic fougere on our hands. Have to be honest, I was quite relieved right after spraying it for the first time, thinking my wallet's content was safe. Wrong. It was not, and Pelagos is not a bitter aromatic fougere. It develops into the most beautiful orris butter scent which only Papillon's Hera can match, and at that point I was already sold. Luckily I can sense the orris butter even in the drydown, where a soft, smooth sandalwood dominates. In a way very different from any other Dusita offerings, in an other way not, I can definitely detect the house's DNA. Wears close to the skin but lasts a long time. It's a very unique marine scent without containing marine notes. These are the things it reminds me of: the opening is like sailing on the open sea in head-wind, combined with a walk under the shades of the seashore pines. The heart is like the smell of your already cooled down, freshly showered skin after a day at the beach. And then the drydown reminds me of summer evenings under the open sky in the Mediterranean.

Really love the scent on paper, the floral notes float above in the right balance, adding just that little bit of orangey jasmine sweetness with the tonka bean over the woodiness before the latter comes through stronger on the dry down. Once that all settles, they all morph into one cohesive slightly soapy scent but is very quietly pleasant throughout. Different journey on my skin though - with the pine dominating the opening and pushing the floral aspect aside for awhile, before the latter slowly glides in and then an incense-y sweetness. Detecting the amyris and vetiver too, the scent flitting in and out between slightly feminine and masculine because of that. A couple of hours later, the incense comes forth quite strongly and ends up dominating on my skin. It's quite interesting and really appreciating what Umavijani is bringing with her work. They're all pieces of art. Would be quite pretty in spring and cozy in autumn. The sweetness and then strong incense note, although nowhere near overwhelming, for me might see me leaving it out of summer. Try it on skin first before buying.

This is an incredibly beautiful scent skirting the lines between deep iris/orris floral, traditional "masculin" aquatic and fougère, but with that special Dusita magic. It's quite similar to, but surpasses, Relection 45 by Amouage. The Dusita is less "SMELL HOW RICH I AM" and more, "mmmmm smell the creamy orris swirling with the delicious moss and jasmine", and I can't get enough of it. This may actually take the spot of my previous favourite Dusita perfume, Oudh Infini. Second day wearing it, oh my, it's better than I thought. It manages to be so familiar but not derivative. It makes me feel like, yes, this is how I'm meant to smell right now. The subtle aquatic freshness against the creamy, leathery orris is so delicious, and while it's sweet, the herby aspects keep the sweetness in check. The drydown reveals dry thyme and resinous incense, but no heavy hand has been used for any one element, so it's a dynamic perfume that shifts and ebbs over time. So so good, it's currently the perfume I'm wearing the most, and it's uplifting and joyous every time I apply it.

Reflection 45 doesn't have anything to do with Pelagos and I know this because I wore it last night. Still had it on this morning, and now I have on Pelagos. I'm sorry to say this, but I completely disagree. There is no similarity. The only similarity is that they both have orris. That's it. Lots of fragrances have similar notes but they are nothing alike. Reflection is a masterpiece. Unfortunately Pelagos is not. I wish I could tell you why, but I really have no idea. It just doesn't feel like it goes together. The composition is muddled instead of blended if that makes sense. There is a harshness about it that is off putting and makes it unbearable. Perhaps this is more related to a specific memory than a creation for sale. I hate to say this because I want to like every fragrance, and there are some from her brand I really do enjoy, but unfortunately this one is not it. My disappointment for this fragrance is just as huge as was my excitement for it. Please do not compare it to reflection 45 again.

Superbly blended quality perfume that is more than a collection of its parts. I've tried 6 creations from this house: Erawan, Splendiris, Oudh Infini, Le Sillage Blanc, La Douceur de Siam and Pelagos. This is one that I'd buy a full bottle of. It's superbly blended, it smells like cold beach pebbles and wood chips on a cold windy day at seaside when summer is long gone. It's the iris for people who don't like iris, the cold wood fragrance for people who don't like woody notes and the earthy fragrance for those who dislike damp earthy notes. The blending is spot on, nothing is too much or too little. I see myself wearing this for dinner/theater night in early autumn but it can work for both women and men 25+ as a 'desk to dinner' all rounder as it's discreet enough and projects on arms length. Can be worn all year round.

I have sampled it just before going on vacation to Greece, wore my sample while riding on a scooter with my partner across picturesque hills on small Aegan sea islands. And then read that it's exactly what inspired the perfume... I just had to buy the bottle as soon as I came back. it smells like sea and salt and cypress trees, aromatic fresh opening with the powdery buttery orris coming through and settling into creamy sandalwood... It has some slight soapiness to it, I guess because of the blend of so many aromatic notes with some resins. Perfectly unisex, perfectly summery, and perfect for a hot island vacation with sea breeze and breathtaking views. It's also my fav from the entire Dusita collection, although there are a few more that I found full bottle worthy.

I love the opening. Very citrusy bright with an invigorating cool airy freshness from the sea breeze accord (this is NOT aquatic or oceanic). It is more clean floral and soapy grounded with traditionally masculine base notes. As it dries down, it develops a sweet cumin-ish skin scent when the musk from the ambrette comes in. Some people may not enjoy this, but for me it plays nicely with all the other notes. Feels like it could go vanilla but it stops. No sweetness so it leans toward a more mature audience. This is great for everyday, especially on warm days when you need an eye opening kick to your morning. Very nice at a discounter’s price.

I ordered a bunch of samples and randomly decided to try this one first. I had no idea what the idea behind this fragrance was, I didn’t even know the notes, I just knew it was a Dusita that I had not smelled. First sniff, I was vividly reminded of the town on the Outer Banks of North Carolina where I spent seven summers working at an arts festival. Pissara is a genius. FBW for me, for a seaside scent that finally doesn’t smell of sunscreen and coconuts, but the actual plants, soil and air of the real seaside.

This was one of the samples in the Perfume Guys collection a few months back. It remained interesting, and I found a bottle for a good price at Scent Angel. It arrived today, and I am happy to report that I still love it. The first sniff is fresh and exciting and the heart and dry down are downright magical. Blessings to Pissara Umavijani for creating such enchantment. This is what a great scent should be. Transportive (to a beach in Greece) and transformative (a better mindset).

Like the other reviews, I agree this gives off extremely classy vibes. It's a beautiful marine, aquatic scent without being frilly and beach. Summer elegance. As soon as I tried a sample, everyone around me loved it and agreed it was full bottle worthy, so now it is the latest addition to my collection. While it is a summer/spring scent, I think you could also use this in winter, as it crisp. Not sure about fall.

Incredible fragrance and quite unusual! Doesn't really remind me of anything I've ever tried. Blended to perfection, sometimes it brings out aquatic notes, but the dry down is exceptionally sweet, classy and there the jasmine and cypress are truly noticeable but still exceptionally well mixed. There's a dept to discover in this fragrance! The perfect long-lasting but not too loud unisex summer fave!

Opened up refreshing green and ended with woody notes. In between it’s packed with notes you’ll need time to get used to. The spicy salty note didn’t remind me of marine scent but rather sweaty physique. But overall once you got used to it, it’s a rather lovely scent. It lasted about ten hrs on skin and well over twelve on clothing while still projecting. Two thumbs up for this.

IT'S JUST SO GOOD. I can't stop smelling my arms. Y'all... I can't believe so many people in the comments don't get or smell the oceanside quality of this fragrance. This feels like a REAL sea scent. Most aquatic perfumes are missing that DANK (stinky?) quality, but this achieves it. It's beautiful, aromatic, and a bit raunchy. I'm enamored with it.

Beautiful green fragrance that feels fresh but still has longevity. When I wear this, I catch myself inhaling deeply throughout the day to get even more of the scent. Wad given a mini bottle when at the Dusita store in Paris and now wish I’d have bought the larger size.

This fragrance is definitely woody and fresh, with a unique character that’s sure to impress. The rating doesn’t do it justice—it's a 10/10 masterpiece. You’ll hear more about it for sure, and it's perfect for any season.

Very dry and waxy iris (almost savory). Unique and beautiful! It smells clean and luxurious and beautifully develops into softer sandalwood scent on the skin. Love it! My ig: scent.guide

I LOVE this fragrance. Slightly similar to an old favorite, Un Jardin en Méditerranée Hermès, but softer and more mysterious. I highly recommend it.

This perfume brings me the memories of joy and holiday. Blue, marine, wind and sand. For me, this is a very wearable niche perfume.

Pelagos Parfums Dusita ExDP (2.5 ml. Vial from brand promotional event, thank you) First Impression Pelagos is Oceanic Fougere, Iris heart with floral support. Ms. Pissara still resume her personal innovation in Fougere element, but this time seems to borrow some element from Chypre structure. It is hard to really unlock this fragrance from the get go as it seems to unveil layers after layers. There was a note that wasn’t mention, but I recall probably one Oceanic ingredient (Aquozone?) with shimmer clary sage as base and main ambient for the fragrance. Fragrance opening is greenery and fresh like a brief of fresh air hitting your face while you standing on mossy stone prevment near the shorefront city, this phase linger, a big while. (30 mins) Then the iris I have never faced before show up. It is wet iris.. yeap it is like wet orris butter. Not aquatic like L’iris or Iris Ukiyoé and cool, sweet tint from Jasmin mingle at the background provide sweet support. i don’t smell like photorealistic jasmine upfront. It is just ambient (think of Dioramour but wet) I believe this follow her proper structure of powdery fougere heart that see often do. I really appreciate the quality of this iris, so real to my nose. (4-5 hours) The scent transit to more dryer side of wood, earthy as iris start to fade, it is like we have finish the walk by the shore and return to home, you make yourself a soft tea to make you feel at peace. (5+ hours) I think construction wise, she might tried to reinvention the composition style but retain her signature structure. Resulting in hybrid fougere / chypre structure that I am not familiar. I am not so sure how market will react to this, this is even complex than Oud Infini which challenging from the note itself, not structure. This leans Homme to my nose but floral quality is kind of bring this to unisex scale. I am not keen with Oceanic / Marine olfactive so I can’t truly evaluate is this good in the realm. But I can see a stylish / well trained nose can appreciate this. And personally, if I have to really wear something out from this realm (think of Aqua di Gio, 40 knotts) I would definitely choose this. Intension of Ms.Prissara is to complete the fragrance wheel and this is first release in oceanic / aquatic faction, I can truly see attempt but that oceanic note is kind of haunted me a bit. But quality wise, this is phenomenal. I can’t argue.

This perfume is a subtle Queen. I call it queen because even though the top notes are reminiscent of a bitter herbs masculine Fougere, they mostly burn off to reveal a salty floral heart that stays around for hours. It’s mysterious and it plays hide and seek; there isn’t a cloud of fragrance that surrounds you but instead ribbons and whispers of this beautiful floral rise up off the skin and twine themselves around you, disappearing and then reappearing. The presence of green and still slightly bitter herbs continues into this floral heart, and this alchemy creates a floral that is like a green wind. It doesn’t have the indolic and lush feeling jasmine can have, rather it feels leavened with bitterness to create something airy and green and light. It’s very wearable and feels low maintenance compared to many other jasmine fragrances. There is a minimal feeling of something animalic that is present in many Dusita fragrances, it is buried deep under the other notes but anchors the floaty feeling and gives this almost gauzy perfume a sense of seriousness. Pelagos lasts 7 hours on skin with anything resembling sillage, but it does stay very close to skin for several more hours after that.

For me this starts as a classic gentleman’s shaving scent. It’s ferny, oakmossy, Irish Spring soapy. It’s in the same group of scents as Arcadia by Hiram Green, 34 Boulevard Saint Germain by Diptyque, Antaeus by Chanel and Lavande 31 by Le Labo. But what makes Palagos different and sets it apart from the others is a slight salty, animalic sourness/bitterness. I totally get the “mossy pavement” comment. Pissara’s sandalwood is THE BEST and it features here in its usual smooth and mouthwatering way. But again the bitterness shifts this for me and reminds me of the smooth, white and creaminess of lily-of-the-valley where it has that slight animalic/bitter bite. On my skin, the end result smells like a thick cold-cream/face cream from a rich lady’s vintage dresser. I think everyone will find something very different to each wearer’s experience. Update: I wore this on the most beautiful summers day by the lakeshore on Canada Day. I paddle boarded and Pagalos was the perfect accompaniment as it was marine, salty but also bright and sunny. I do love how easy to wear and savoury this is, but I wish it lasted longer.

Review of surprise sample received with my order of Montri from Dusita today. This is me trying to make sense of it, without the proper knowledge- or even recognition of many of the actual ingrediënts :) Smells like a dusty dry hot sun-drenched beach. Bergamot, cypress, orris, jasmin. The orris may be most pronounced. Soft and gentle leather, sunscreen, white wood. Creamy but subtle. A beautiful blend. Aegean sea makes sense. I'm trying to remember what it actually smelled like, back when I was there on the Turkish side but it's been too long. Or maybe the dry hot air made me noseblind. The perfume is not particularly forceful, it has a lovely sensuality to it. More like the smell of sea minerals on skin. Hints of flowers coming in from the city by the bay. To me it's more a portrayal of people enjoying the sandy beach and less so, the salty water, sea breeze or rugged natural world. The weather is calm, the sun is hot, the perfume is laid back but is persistent in its attractive ways. A beautiful skin scent, in the best possible meaning of the word.

Although I appreciated the unique take on a marine fragrance I didn’t immediately like this when I first smelled it, it was almost leaning towards dislike at least in the opening with an odd musty paper like woods and herbal green florals mixed with citrus. Different and not easy to describe. But the dry down is a more approachable familiar salty ambroxan with the coniferous, citrus notes more balanced and becoming a little soapy. After a few more wears my appreciation has grown and I am looking forward to wearing this in the warmer months. There is complexity and layers here; it feels original and not derivative.

Impressed with the opening scent that is fresh, green, and not boring. While it's not lasting long, the scent will transform into a nice green and powdery at the dry-down stage. It's a safe fragrance that gives pleasure to anyone who smell it. This bottle is good for the collector. But for the real life usage, I expect the opening to be more long lasting, and the dry down sillage is not so unique. However, if you try it and don't have this scent profile in your collection yet, this one is good to be considered.

Okay it has aged for much longer now, the jasmine is super super nice, I love it but there is an odd green freshness that is hard to describe. I still really like it, I just personally would've gone in a fresher and more mass appealing direction, it feels like its trying really hard to be regal and beautiful which is cool but I just want something fresh. If you have the money, go for it. It amazing and there's nothing else like it, but there are some cheaper options that fill the same role.

A rich marine, without the kinds of light notes you typically expect from that category. This reminded me of the sea off the New England coast (although thankfully with no accompanying seaweed smell): heavy and pleasantly dank. Dusita is to my mind incapable of making an unpalatable fragrance, so this is still quite enjoyable, with orris root, and woods, and lots of patchouli. Recommended, although keep in mind Dusita fragrances always have a considerable price tag to them.

Initially I was not a fan of this one. I sprayed my wrists to test, thought this is not for me, and then went to the beach where I figured I would sweat it off. Then something magical happened. In the high heat and along with the scents of the ocean Pelagos became absolutely gorgeous. I can’t even describe the scent or the notes but I do think this is one that does much better in the air than smelling at close contact on skin.

Invigorating cypress and pine blast in the opening. Forest feel. Great woody fragrance with a fantastic drydown containing patchouli and vetiver with a hint of incense. Also, I enjoy getting a bit of the orris throughout the cycle. It is really fantastic. Price is unfortunate. But certainly fantastic!

I perceive this perfume as a tart smell of specific greenery with a modern sound, and my husband thinks that this is a cologne from the 90s with a mixed aquatic and tobacco direction. Not bad aromatherapy and a break from gender-feminine perfumes with a pronounced sweetness.

This is a fresh marine scent. It reminds me of the moment Poseidon creating horses and them leaping out from the splashing white waves. It leans more masculine to me.

Like a breeze on the boardwalk mixed with bar soap. Elegant, smooth, and refined. To me the color of Pelagos is white with a very subtle shade of teal. 8.0/10

Something about it feels very familiar. I feel like the orris is a bit heavy handed. Not bad but nothing to go crazy over.

Heavy woody aromatic with slight aquatic touches to it. The scent opens with an accord made of conifers and citrus. The heart is mostly jasmine with orris, with hints of thyme and tonka bean. The perfume settles on a heavy powdery woody accord made of synthetic calones, sandalwood, amyrus, benzoin, patchouli, vetiver and incense. The unisex scent with moderate projection and good longevity is meant to evoke the vibe of a Greek island. It is pleasant but feels heavy and overstuffed with notes that distract a bit, especially a strong jasmine that takes over the scent during the drydown. Fans of this brand will love it, others will wonder what the scent could have been stripped of the heavy floral heart. Enjoy!

This is a scent that transports you somewhere to the south of Italy in summer. In the midst of the worst heat, in broad daylight, you walk through the streets and from a balcony, you catch the scent of freshly washed laundry with strong, old stye harsh soap. Because of that, it is nostalgic, in a way reminiscent of beautiful days, Mediterranean summers. It also slightly recalls barbershop perfumes. Definitely interesting, nostalgic, but it’s not something I would want to smell on myself most of the time, or all day.

Got myself a sample of this one, and while it is nice, after the first sniff I didn't really get the marine vibes, despite spending most of my life living by the sea. "Dank" is definitely a good word for the undertones, and it reminds me of my aunt - both of those things are more positive than they sound.

It’s a simple Jasmine and pine led floral fragrance that leans feminine. One of my favourite fragrances of all time is Creed’s Royal Mayfair which has a similar presentation, however Pelagos relies on Jasmine, RM has rose. Utter nonsense that this is a marine framed scent. A niche hype.

I want to like this cent, but the powdery aspects are a hindrance.

Anyone who wishes to smell clean to the point people wonder if you've hidden a couple of bars of soap in your pockets should definitely give Pelagos a sniff. I, for one, can't stand overly soapy fumes, and so this is anything but for me. Nevertheless, judging from a quality/blending standpoint, I cannot give this a very low rating, for it is fairly decent in those respects. The opening strikes with a strong clean, fresh, soapy Litsea cubeba, aided by some citrusy bergamot and some floral undertones. There's also this fresh, aquatic edge which at first it strook me more as a pool-like aquatic smell rather than the sea's breeze. But above all, the intensely soapy character was easily overpowering the rest. With things slightly smoothening out, a powdery and buttery floral scent blends in with the soapy aspects, coming from the Orris butter. The white thyme adds a warm aromatic undertone with even a subtle green character. The tonka bean keeps things in check when it comes to sweetness, with a very faint touch of vanilla. But do trust me when I say "very faint"; it's hard for anything else to stand out here other than the soapy, clean, buttery, and powdery protagonists. That also applies to the base. The sandalwood struggles at first to peek through with some woodiness, eventually managing to do so after about an hour or even more. The patchouli is either not there at all or in a very tiny amount, as I struggle to identify any more than some musky/woody aspects attributed to it. Some musky elements also appear deeper in the dry down. Overall, I'm not a fan. For me, it's soapy to the point my nostrils nearly burn, so I guess there's a skill issue too. It's also got a particular "old person" sort of vibe - this is the fragrance you'd smell on the elderly. Not a bad thing, just something to consider. And other than that, is also appears quite linear, which ultimately also translates to pretty boring. It was rather difficult for me to get a clear answer regarding longevity here. After about 2 hours in, the fragrance just seemed to become extremely faint when smelled up close. Not exactly skin scent, since it was still mildly projecting. Eventually, after thorough testing, I got around 5 hours of longevity, which is not too impressive. For projection, I would've expected worse. The first hour, I got a pretty solid 1.5 foot bubble around me, with sillage being significantly better. After the first hour, it would gently mellow down up until hour 3-4, where it was still detectable at times. Given all that, it's not very difficult to rock Pelagos in a variety of situations. It could do as a daily/leisure scent, office or school, and maybe even semi-formal occasions. You just really have to like the scent, 'cause as for someone like me who hardly tolerates it, it will be significantly harder to wear and pair to different contexts. It's an easy pass for me. I'm not too fond of overly-soapy fragrances, nor do I find Pelagos in particular to be doing enough to justify its $200-$250 retail price. Little development and excitement, and overall not the highest quality either. It's decent at best, but I'm also biased, so in the end give it a try if you're curious and DO NOT blind buy it. I don't know what it is but I'm getting almost entirely headachey white florals with just a hint of resin/incense/orris at the base. I really liked it the first time I smelled it straight from the vial sample, but after a few tries I really don't get what it was originally that I liked.

i thought I smelled leather in here so I checked the Parfums Dusita site and the olfactory notes are listed as TOP NOTES Bergamot, Litsea Cubeba, Sea Breeze Accord HEART NOTES, Orris Butter, White Thyme, Tonka Bean BASE NOTES, Leather, Sandalwood, Patchouli

Your dad's aftershave in a 1000 year old wooden chest. There's something very animalic and musky in the base that gives me shivers.

The beginning is clean fresh orris heaven with citrus touch, but then the fougere direction ruined it, making it soapy and boring.

Smells like damp socks and a mouldy public changing room. Then dries down to smell like incense

This smells like a haunted pirate ship's closet. I rarely HATE a fragrance but I hate this! This smells like mold, dust, moth balls and The Pirates of the Darkest Water essence.

This smells like the sweat of an evil man in a polyester-lined suit.

With over 15 years as a fraghead, one thing I’ve come to appreciate more and more is the pursuit of unique olfactory experiences. Let’s be honest — these days, many fragrances tend to echo one another. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially for someone just starting out. No budget for an expensive bottle? You can easily find something similar in the more affordable range. However, for experienced collectors and connoisseurs, novelty is everything. And that’s exactly why Pelagos ended up becoming my favorite fragrance of 2024 — it offered me something unlike anything else I’ve smelled before (at least to my nose). Beyond its uniqueness, the wearing experience is beautiful: cozy, comforting, and incredibly cohesive. It’s slightly powdery, not sweet at all, and impressively long-lasting. It can’t be categorized — I wouldn’t call it dark or bright, and I wouldn’t call it marine either. I remember my first impressions being a bit different: I initially picked up something green, leaning in a fougère direction, with a burst of citrus up top. But after wearing it extensively, I’ve found that it occupies a very specific and unique niche in my collection. I also chose Pelagos as my scent companion for a month-long trip back home to Armenia — and I’m so glad I did. Now, I have beautiful memories forever tied to this fragrance, deepening my connection to it. The presentation is equally stunning. Pelagos comes in a luxurious lacquered box, and the matte black bottle indicates that this is indeed a special release in Dusita’s lineup. All in all, Pelagos is one of the few fragrances in my collection that I consider a masterpiece.

Opens with a rush of aldehydic? piney freshness, which really does resemble a sea breeze, it’s amazing. There’s the familiar unisex herbal fougere quality you get in Pavilion d’Or as it goes through what I call its “Badedas shower gel” phase but this is followed soon after by the appearance of a cool, salty sweet white floral melange (Lily/ Lily of the Valley/Jasmine) Pelagos is primarily floral on my skin and in this phase reminds me SO much of Dior Dune that I can’t help but suspect that it’s a deliberate homage of sorts to that masterpiece of olfactory art that is one of my very favourite perfumes of all time. Pelagos hums along quietly like this for hours. The end slowly comes on as a dusty powdery tonka benzoin impressionistic blur that reminds me of the dry down of Fleur de Lalita. EDIT: now 6 mths since receiving my bottle, the powder is firmly kept in check by the cypress and pine, it goes back to masc fougere territory right at the end. Longevity is very very good, projection is decent but Dusita is never loud. Very nice addition to the line up but sample first as it may not be what you’re expecting. In one sense it may be too floral to please those looking for a typical summer freshie/ Bleu type scent; while being too masc for those expecting a feminine leaning marine scent but if you’re already a fan of Ms Umavijani’s work, or you love Dune, or enjoy coniferous notes then Pelagos is definitely worth a sniff! I was disappointed at the floralcy at first, ngl but the pine and cypress have won me over, it’s a grower.

This was way too old fashioned marine cologne smell for me. Don't get me wrong, it has some lovely notes and complexity, especially the jasmine midway through. It just ends up overwhelmed by the piney and thyme old man smells to be appreciated as a woman. I am generally a fan of unisex, even masculine leaning fragrances with warm boozy woods in them or lavender type aromatics. For me though this has too much of an "old spice" smell that covers up the other floral and citrus notes. This may be perfect on an older man who enjoys barber shop style colognes but I don't see it particularly suited for any woman.
