Splendiris

Splendiris is not the typical iris we have come to expect from “perfume iris”, there is no lipstick vibe, no excessive powderiness, nor that typical dusty, earthy, rooty scent of synthetic orris either. The heart of Splendiris smells more like the actual iris flower instead of orris to my nose, especially the mid dry down phase, which is an entirely different scent from the iris root. I get a botanical iris flower with the leaves, created from an accord of orris butter, violet, violet leaf, carrot seed, rose and fig leaf. It smells like a hybrid of the violet flower and iris flower combined, which are both similar in scent, and both can only be smelled by pretty much sticking your nose into the flower. If you have done that then you will recognize the iris scent more so than the standard orris we come to expect in an iris perfume. The opening of Splendiris isn’t blue-like at all to my nose, the blue, green and purple notes combined with orange, mandarin and rose, gives it an energized multi colored scent initially. As the notes settle during the dry down, the blue aspects take over and become more prominent and the sweet orris butter becomes more noticeable, and this is when I begin to smell the iris flower recreation. The earthiness from the vetiver starts coming through later, along with some muskiness from the ambergris and warmth of vanilla and it has a sort of waxiness, sort of like sniffing a candle burning nearby. There is no smokiness or anything like that, but like the scent emanating from a candle which is slightly different from perfume. I even get a slight paper like feel, almost like turning the pages of a book near a calming botanical candle. For me, Splendiris starts out bright eyed and energizing like a sunny morning with flowers opening, and transforms into a garden of soft blue irises in the afternoon, and ends with candlelight under the moon, and irises just outside the window, ending somewhat bittersweet as the irises start to close for the season.

My toxic trait is that I sampled this, logged in my spreadsheet it was "Sort of a wet, soapy iris with lots of character and subtle earthiness", but that "dry down is too soapy for my taste". (tested in late summer) I then forgot I sampled it, didn't check my notes, and blind bought a bottle. With an atomizer, it does have an almost creamy, violet-forward character that seems sweetly femme--it reminds me of my beloved Rose Cherie without the rose--there's the lipstick/powdery dominant presence, and the other notes really help round it into something seamlessly blended and incredibly elegant--there's a classic vibe here that is right up my alley. I have other violet perfumes (like Balenciaga's line, Molinard, Rose Cherie), but I find this one a bit soapier than the others, and perhaps greener--it reads less "cold" and austere than my bottle of say, l'eu Essence, which has a strong sense of woody notes and vetiver. I think the sweetness makes a lot of difference. This house really rocks my world. I'm testing on a lovely 75 degree Texas day--I think this one makes me happier in cooler weather. In Texas heat, I was too sensitive to the soapy aspect.

Splendiris truly is a splendid rendition of orris, as you would expect from such a name. It’s very clearly taken inspiration from classical powdery florals of the past, such as Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue and Apres L’Ondee. But I find it lends its own modernity and charm, to tickle at the fancy of those who enjoy vintage-style perfume, but yearn for something original as well. With orris at its heart, this scent will be far too much for those who don’t enjoy powder; it’s incredibly dry and dusty, like vintage face powder and soaps. This powderiness is elevated by a gentle touch of violet, alongside carrot seed to achieve an almost angelic earthiness. There’s a faint green facet, alongside jasmine and rose, but these are so distant they’re more of a suggestive whisper. I really enjoy this, I find it incredibly calming to wear. I’ve always been a huge fan of powdery fragrances, and I often gravitate towards vintage perfume for this exact reason. With that in mind, this scent tailors to my tastes perfectly. Whilst it is quite quiet on the skin, I don’t mind that, for this is delicate serenity bottled.

I had the opportunity to try a sample. In me it is a perefume with a medium intensity. Duration of 8 hours that continues with a scent of skin level aroma, but at that time I prefer to reapply. Although I am not a passionate woman of the aperfumes in the ground, it has its charm because it is delicate and among the aromas of the violet and the lily root we can feel the caria of other aromas. Its output is grounded but fresh and green. You can sow the citrus and green notes that accompany the violets, it is as if the floral aroma came directly from the field, in a fresh and very beautiful way. Probably give it to someone who likes a sharp, fresh, delicate and clean aroma. Very nice perfume, it is not scenic, it is not difficult to understand and if very pleasant to wear.

So, it's truly unfortunate that this doesn't stay as strong as it is in the mid opening for a little bit longer because the middle stage, and dry-down are truly lightning in a bottle. I don't find this overly similar to Insolence, or Misia... Apres L'Ondee is slightly similar, but this is obviously stronger. It's really hard to describe this in a way that hasn't been done, so I'll liken it to Cybophonia's Cinematic remix of The Black Mighty Orchestra's "Ocean Beach" which just makes me think of a fancy Parisian cafe, sitting under an umbrella on a warm Spring day. Not strong for very long, but moderately long lasting. On *my* skin, it's more herbal than powdery and there's a big spicy kick that persists from application until dry-down.

I had tried splendiris before, but it was a very fleeting contact so I didn't really get to experience it extensively. And I had liked it then, but now I really love it. Splendiris is such a dignified, classy, slightly melancholy fragrance, with a small vintage touch. At the same time, there is a freshness and a crispness to it that prevents it from smelling really "classical". It smells young, but calm and composed, it smells soothing, but alive. It's very breezy, like a silky veil or a refreshing, but very delicate beverage. I cannot decompose the notes in any other way but saying it indeed smells powdery and floral, in the ethereal way. Sillage is quite good for this kind of a composition, and on me it lasts for about 5-6 hours.

Subtle, multifaceted, artsy violet-centered scent with great lasting power. It's 24 hours already and my wrist is still scented with Splendiris. Meteorites by Guerlain powder and a perfect lipstick share this scent, which is why it has cosmetic connotation. Guerlain Meteorites edt is also the closest match. But louder, with more rough edges, and less universal. This violet-iris composition is rounder, a signature-type. I think you can love it everyday, all year, I know I could. I loved it winter evening. It fitted the atmosphere as fresh glistening snow fits European winter. Second to Anamcara in surprising pleasure and quality. In my personal experience with this brand, of course.

What an utterly pleasant experience it was to spray this on for the first time. It reminds me of cosmetic products, in fact it smells a lot like Guerlain's Météroites. I don't know the perfume, so I can't judge that, but the original powder pearls. I love that smell - enough so to buy Dusita Splendiris, even though it's really expensive. It doesn't last as long as I wish it would: If I only spray it on my skin, I get whiffs of it for about three hours. It's easily fixed though: I just spray a little on my clothes and hair as well. It's refined, floral, fresh, not very sweet, very elegant and powdery. In a word: perfect!

Splendiris is dreamy. It has clarity and is a very unique smell. It is different from all the other iris scents I have tried but it is one of the very few that I love. I have tried 3 samples from Dusita (the other two being Melodie de l'amour and Fleur de Lalita) Those 2 unfortunately do not speak to my soul(based on their names I had imagined and expected them to smell very different), so when I lastly tried Splendiris I was surprised and instantly in love. This fragrance made this spring full of grace for me. I am so grateful to Pissara for bringing this to existence. I can't wait to try her Pavillon d'or now.

This opens with a powdery, lush bouquet of violets and their leaves attached paired with an earthy, root heavy orris. The rose here is very light, soft, demure, and subtle with a delicate sweetness to it, like little rose petals rather than the whole flower. The carrot seed is also very prominent amplifying the earthy facets of the scent and adding a woodiness. As the scent develops it’s becomes a creamy, buttery iris heavy scent with earthiness still lingering. The dry down is a warm and woody carroty musk with hints of vanilla and remnants of a buttery iris and violet combo.

I'm not overly certain what people expected from this fragrance. I tried it and found it to be a perfect representation of the poem that was influencing it. It is meant to be a waxy, candle-like fragrance. I find it highly wearable. I entered the naming competition and fell immediately in love with this. Where Frederic Malle Superstitious is a snuffed out candle, this one is gently burning and it's soft and delicate aroma float around you. As far as it's namesake goes, this is a fabulously artistic look at the iris plant. Heavily powdery and mildly vegetal. Rather remarkable.

If you are into Iris, Violet, Powder, this might just be your perfect signature scent. I received Splendiris as a sample and tested it right away. The opening had something toothpasty, but a few seconds later, that note was gone - very fortunately so. The drydown is beautiful: Iris, Violet, Rose, the latter of which isn't dominant at all, it's more like it's lending it's sweeter accords to the roundness of the perfume. The longevity is very short: After about two and a half hours only the faintest whiff was left on my wrists, so yeah, should spray on hair and clothes as well.

This is a lovely vanilic violet-iris combo. It can be both nostalgic and romantic, it mostly depends on the weather you are wearing it in. I don't understand some of the comments below saying it is masculine or too soapy, maybe one can associate violet with soap but for me, it never really gets to a soapy stage. It is a scent with depth and roundness. I do not perceive it as vintage, but it does evoque the same types of feelings a vintage scent would. I think it is a treasure to modern perfumery.

Dainty, quiet and delicate violet. It's a watercolor fragrance, timid, built on transparency with only suggestions and whispers. There is no flashy iris or dusty orris. Splendiris is airy, unobtrusive, seen and felt almost like through a pearly sheen. I am in love. Update: trying the sample for a few more times, I can sense a bit artificial, syrupy start of it, but it fades quite quickly. I wish the drydown also kept that beautiful violet dust, but it just fades, leaving something woody.

Musky violet iris. It’s heavenly. The musk is so nice and different to others I’ve experienced, I wonder if this is mainly the carrot seed oil which I have never smelt before. It has a soft and tender feel to it, very comforting. The history of this house is pretty remarkable, self taught perfumer and every single one of her perfumes is unique and great in itself! You can tell she starts from a love of vintage perfumery in the way she uses ingredients.

I quite like this. The opening is bright violet. I just love carrot seed and violet. They are so pretty together. The drydown an ambergris orris musk. Very lovely and unique. To me the opening is super feminine but the drydown is unisex on my skin. To me this has a silver vixen vibe. This isnt your typical powdery grandmother, shes got style, class, and shes a bit mysterious. 40+ and good anywhere.

This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever smelled. A 'wet' iris/violet. Gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh! However, it doesn't last or project at all. I can only smell it with my nose pressed on my skin and it's gone within an hour or so. At this price point that's a hard no. *cries* (I have an official brand sample)

I like this a lot... Nothing complicated but it does remind me of those violet candies. I can't remember what they're called, but they're wrapped like the smarties. I wish it lasted a little longer, though this is gonna be perfect for layering.

Tender and sheer scents with almost watery violets and nice powdery base. It smells a lot like carrot seeds which I love! But also balanced with a tender sweetness of vanilla. Gorgeous fragrance! My ig: scent.guide

I love this, I absolutely love this. I got a Discovery Set of Dusita Parfums and this was one of them that I loved at first sniff, including Melodie De L’amour, and Le Pavillon D’or. Beautiful sweet iris.

violet, aldehydes, and reads like a vintage floral aldehyde fragrance; reminds me a touch of Boadicea Divine without the blow-you-out-of-the-water register; it is incredible layered with Splendiris

Starts out exactly like fizzy, powdery parma violets. Dries down into a nice, creamy vanilla-iris. I'll enjoy using my sample of this!

This is just so Absolutely Beautiful ❤️ It's hands down the most Gorgeous perfume in my collection.

Reminds me of Violet in Love by Nicolai Parfumeur

A dramatic reversal in an unexpected direction over its life: from irritating to irresistible. This one's a game of two halves - the first slightly blighted by a very violet-heavy open, which is hostile territory for me; at this point it's quite sharp, green, 'wet', dewy, definitely fresh iris, along the lines of Houbigant Champs d'Iris or Hermes Hiris. Classy work and great of its kind - but like its fellow pale-purple party poopers lilac and lavender (not present here but capable of ruining things for me ALWAYS) the violet is just too big and present. I kept trying to dodge it and appreciate the rest of the scent, but then resenting its prim, poky violet presence for spoiling the show. BUT. Butbutbutbutbut - PLOT TWIST! Splendiris then swerves in another direction entirely with a really nicely detailed chalky iris note rising fast to the top... and suddenly the blooms warm in sunshine, the cold, stand-offish, prissy-girl violet buzzes off, everything mellows and turns totally lovely. Vanilla of only the finest kind heats it up from beneath (it could be a Guerlain!) - and the whole effect warms and improves throughout. Seemed oddly almost warm spicy (cinnamon/nutmeg tangs) to me on skin, which only made it better. Reminds me, for this meld of flower & aromatic, of Penhaligon's Lily & Spice - but as lilies themselves can verge on spicy, they must be easier to blend in than the odder, less lush slenderness of iris. There is plenty of clever business happening here, though underneath the usual Dusita high-gloss, high-budget air of discretion. Something of the lovely smooth, sweet, discreet bottom end of Issara seems to be peeking up from the base, but that can only be good news. By the end I'm swooning - it's a gorgeous golden glow, which is not a mood I thought perfumers could even get to with iris, but here it's done with real kindness and the human touch. There's so much gentleness and ease trailing out from all directions - it's a balm for the senses. The usual smooth, femme, sophisticated business from Pissara Umavijani, who is one SLY FOX for pulling off this magic costume change for a flower which can often seem chilly and grey. This grade of emotional journey - from "Violet, could you NOT?" to "Oh Iris, you're one of the most gorgeous things I've ever smelt" by the finale - is really not that common in scent. So: scores big for surprise value, complexity and character - even intelligence. Drawbacks: the usual painful Dusita prices, and longevity on the weaker side... on me the less-than-lovely Phase 1 lasts around 45 minutes but the far lovelier Phase 2 kicks in and hangs on for around another 3 hours on skin. That's fine but it's not enough; you'd need to respray (very expensively) at least once during a day's wear. But if both acts of the play please you - it could be considered money well spent. I can live without it overall, but what a delight to discover and explore. Iris fanatics must test.

I just received 2 Dusita Discovery Boxes I picked up because they each come with a $40 coupon off a purchase of $85 or more. I've tried two, Melodie de L'Amour (see review) and Splendiris. I tried Splendiris once before in one of those small dab on bottles from Lucky Scent which did it no justice. It was meant to be sprayed on. The thing about Dusita in my opinion based upon what I've tried and read is not that they offer anything new and novel. They are simply creations so clearly sourced with the highest quality ingredients and blended so skillfully by the perfumer that my eyes tend to roll back in my head when I smell them. Such is the case with Splendiris. I own so many beautiful iris-centric perfumes. This would easily fit into my collection easily. A bit dry at first, it morphs into a softly sweet iris/violet of supreme delicacy. I do love it, I just don't know if given the price, it's worth it to add to my collection. I would love to own it, but there are others to explore before I decide. It's definitely a contender, though silage and longevity are still TBD after a proper wearing. Melodie de L'Amour on the other hand... EDIT 12/2/22 - Just picked up a full bottle for a great price on Fragrancenet!! I would be the happiest iris/violet lover in the world if this only had better longevity and silage! It layers beautifully with Erawan BTW. I'm in the midst of a Dusita obsession right now! EDIT 1/3/2023 - I just purchase a perfume primer called Linger. It really does help extend the longevity, at least with this perfume. It's already surpassed that usual longevity I experience, and can be had very inexpensively through Amazon. I recommend it based upon this experience!

Splendiris is a bit of a letdown. Having been impressed with other Dusita creations, I was excited to try their take on an iris-forward scent, my favourite note. However, it is instead an aquatic violet-dominant scent that, while pleasant, has limited performance for its price. Splendiris opens with a green fig note, fleeting but unmistakable, giving way to green violet, light and sheer. Some citrus adds freshness. It is pretty aquatic initially - not my favourite thing - but becomes increasingly powdery as it develops while remaining light and sheer. As it develops, powdery iris creeps in alongside the violet, brought to powdery makeup territory by the rose that follows. I love this accord, and here it is nicely done, but is nothing out of the ordinary. Vetiver, a predictable woody note comes to the fore as it dries down, fading to a musky violet skin scent. Sillage is intimate and longevity is moderate. It is feminine-leaning in my opinion. A pretty, pleasant light violet scent for spring, Splendiris is nice for what it is, but is fairly unoriginal and is not the iris-centred beauty I hoped for. 3/5.

Purchased recently after trying my sample and feeling this was a ‘nice enough, intriguing enough, ehhh gotta get it’ impulse purchase.. it ticked a few boxes (a very realistic floral; a beautiful vanilla base without being offensive in sweetness nor musky-ness)... and I am super satisfied. Zero lipstick albeit a bit powdery, though this really is a semi-creamy, slightly buttery, orris scent. To my nose it is more animalic; others detect a semi-sweet floral sweetness. And it IS animalic once it starts to settle but only slightly so. After wearing it for a full day (give or take) it really does perform quite beautifully in the evening... some of the aspects that could offend others almost seem to dissipate whereas I find such notes on skin but only when I put my nose to wrist. Really quite beautiful and difficult to put into words; a rather intimate fragrance that is contemporary but reminds me of something from years past.

I haven’t met a Dusita Fragrance I don’t like, and Splendris is not the exception. But like a few others from this house, Splendris is a timid lady. I get a beautiful, soft violet rose scent that lasts for several hours as a skin scent. Only the first 20 minutes are noticeable without pressing my nose to wrist. I get a “kindness” impression from all the fragrances I’ve tested from this house. That abstract quality might have something to do with the times we are living—the collective shared experience worldwide of introspection. When I think of quarantine and the pandemic, years from now, I will think of these scents. For it was during this time that I discovered the house of Dusita. Not a favorite but I can see this working for other people, so this isn’t a down vote. As usual, quality ingredients in this bottle. If you are a fan of soft violet scents, put Splendris on your test list.

Opens with a beautiful powdery layer of violets and something a bit green. Within about 20 minutes I began to smell the Orris, and 20 minutes after that it became citrus with just a hint of something edible and gourmand, with violet making a reappearance in a most delicious way. At this point it’s really addictive; it has a bit more heft than the initial stages, and I assume it’s the Orris that gives it that anchor. So pretty. Anyway, it makes sense that the stages of this revealed themselves so quickly because it only lasted a couple hours on my skin. While it lasted it was beautiful, classy, and felt expensive. Definitely much warmer, gentler and more approachable than many iris fragrances, however not as memorable or noteworthy. A pretty little thing. And can we talk about the color of the juice and the beautiful classy bottle? This would make a stunning gift.

The opening for this is big and glorious and, perhaps, deceptive: a blast of violet made from absolutely first-rate materials. (This is not just the cheap ionones of chewable candies.) After only about half an hour, however, this dissipates, and the orris of the perfume's name becomes much more evident. The florals, citruses, and a little bit of vanilla work to make this less lipsticky than other orris-dominant perfumes, and as a result although the opening is hyperfeminine, the drydown is not. But I could imagine wanting that big blast of violet to last and last if that's what i bought this perfume for: in this way, the best analogy I have for this is a completely different fragrance, Pour Monsieur from Chanel, where the rapturous beauty of the huge opening gives way soon to a still-fine perfume experience that just isn't like the experience of the top.

I am so disappointed in this scent! After wanting it for so long, I just tried a sample. It's beautiful, alright. It's just that I already own it, albeit with a different name and in a different bottle. This IS Insolence EDP!! EDIT 6/10/2020 - The dry down of Splendiris is absolutely to die for, and by this point, it no longer resembles Insolence. If there was more of this, then I would be head over heels in love. Unfortunately, by the time it reaches that phase, it is almost less than a skin scent. I have to bury my nose into my wrist in order to detect it. This is little more than an hour after I dabbed some on from my sample. Still disappointed, and I can not justify purchasing a full bottle for a few fleeting moments of breathtaking beauty. Sigh!

This is rather lovely, a velvety purple-green scent where the iris is very noticeable but its not super carroty like say iris silver mist or as cool a profile as that, its waxy and its warmed by the strong violet but also the orange and vetiver. There is a mild funk in here also, I guess that must be the ambergris as I also get a watery tone to the fragrance too as it dries. The imagery I get while wearing this is of a large pond with lilypads floating on it, with large green leaves and purple petals. So...while this is very nice I won’t be upgrading from my sample however as I think it leans too feminine for me to wear enough but I think its a very well done fragrance.

Splendiris can only be described as an impressionistic abstraction of the whole iris plant, from ruffle-tipped petals to vegetal root. Opening with a chypre-esque citrus accord festooned by fig leaves, carrot seed and much more violet than I care for (think Chanel Misia), it’s not until the dry down that Splendiris really wins me over; once the floral heart of rose and jasmine has melded into the rich and rooty base of waxy orris butter enriched by luscious ambergris, vanilla, and a hay-like vetiver reminiscent of Erawan. Though I find the opening somewhat discordant, that first hour is a small price to pay for the hours of beauty the dry down delivers.

- Opens with a blast of creamy violet and cold orris. As the fragrances dries it becomes more chalky powder creamy orris lotion. The ambergris gives this fragrance a shimmery, seductively musky haze. Very well done. I can imagine this smells lovely on the right people. It reminds me of L'instant Magic, but Splendiris doesn't go so far into the baby power territory. Instead it stays a luxurious silky, glittery cream. On a card it is very refreshing and cold orris. But it blooms and sweetens more on skin so it's great to wear both ways (skin or clothing). I see a bottle of Splendiris in my future. This is my favorite of all her 10 current fragrances.

This and Issra are Dusita's best fragrances. Issra is masculine this is very feminine. Both smell very natural and of the outdoors but in different ways. Issra is fields of mowed hay, herbs growing, and the honey bees hives. Splendris smells of parma violets and iris flowers blooming in the springtime. It has a dainty quality to it, worn by a woman of good character. She maybe shy but she is loyal and dependable. It has an old fashioned quality to it that I quite like. I may purchase a small travel size of this one.

This lands in a nice powdery floral (mildly woody) place. This is how I'd like my beautiful boudoir to smell in some retro film about my movie star life, fresh cut flowers in a vase while I powder my face and choose sparkly jewelry, wearing a silk dress. It's not a simple fragrance, being Dusita after all. I want to love this but my favorite part is the top note opening - a mist of purple flowers and citrusy greenery. SO I guess I'll just spray spray spray cha-ching cha-ching!

Lovely powdery violet and iris fragrance in the same vein as Prada Infusion d'iris. However, sadly it is a skin scent from start to finish lasting just a couple of hours on my skin. Its impossible to overspray this fragrance. If it wasn't so timid and so expensive, would be full bottle worthy. However, there are similar fragrances that have better sillage at a more reasonable price.

Splendiris, just as its name, is a clever iris-violet hybrid. Its cheerful aura is unlike any other violet perfume out there including the provocative Marcel Roucel work for Guerlain. One of the greatest things about the Dusita iris is the lack of sweet undertones, this slightly powdery floral composition has shades of bergamot and vetiver instead. I need a bigger bottle of this!

I've tried this numerous times from very generous decants, and while I love it and think it is one of the prettiest violet and iris perfumes I've ever smelled I just cannot justify buying a bottle considering the terrible performance. Whether on skin, or clothes, it just does not project or last. That's too bad because I would buy a bottle in a heartbeat if it did.

Green figs, iris and some light candied fruit with a sprinkle of powdery vanilla. Even the violets smell so expensive in this, I'm somewhat surprised by the overall high quality of this juice. Thought I was going to despise it since I don't enjoy any of the powdery iris / super femme leaning florals, but it is very pleasant and quite unisex on skin.

Splendiris feels foral and aquatic in the beginning (it kind of reminded me of Zoologist's Dragonfly). On my skin, the magic is in the dry down, which lasts forever (as a skin scent); however, I got whiffs of this amazing dry down whenever I moved my arms (I sprayed the inside of my elbows and my wrists). Very nice, very safe.

Very soft and powdery, Iike a gentler, less sweet, more iris forward version of insolence by Guerlain, made more complex with a touch of carrot seed , rose and vetiver. I can tell it's more complex than the notes I have mentioned but these are the only notes I can distinguish.

Powdery without smelling old. Or maybe I'm getting old so I don't mind? There's an earthiness that makes this more wearable than other violet/iris scents. Not very strong but not the kind of fragrance I think should be.

The orris/iris/violet combo in this creates a beautiful, lightly powdery/purple scent. The fruits smell wonderful in the top notes, but unfortunately don't last into the drydown.

While I do enjoy this fragrance, it is very similar to Lipstick Rose (obviously the iris...) and LR is definitely a step above and a holy grail scent for me.

As I try to work my way through the few Dusita samples I have left, I meet Splendiris, which is hardly splendid for me, but it might be for you. That last part applies to the whole house for me. Why? Simple: its style is more feminine-leaning, with more focus on top and mid notes, often lacking a substantial base to ground their whole compositions. And it's not really any different with Splendiris. It opens quite fresh, watery, thanks to the violet leaf which also sets a green accord in the composition. Very short-lived citruses leaning more on the juicy & sweet aspects get lost underneath the violet leaf, while a delicate and luxurious iris steals the show with its powdery, buttery, creamy floral sweetness. It might lean a little more on the makeup-y side of things, but it does add a touch of refinement which sets it apart from other mainstream takes on the note. A very gentle rooty warmth is also present, possibly from the carrot seed, while the May rose introduces more sweetness through a honeyed facet, which in combination to the rest of the notes, it creates this rosy apricot accent which fits in tastefully. But as it has been made clear by now, the base notes in most Dusita fragrances, at least the ones I've tried, hardly ever take over. In Splendiris's case, traces of vanilla creep in, but I don't get any woodiness from the cedarwood nor the vetiver. Regardless, it's a pretty scent; not incredible, not very unique, but definitely likeable and balanced. On my skin, Splendiris managed a rather impressive 8 hours of longevity, yet it didn't manage to push much more off of my skin compared to other feminine-leaning Dusitas I have tries. It leaves a decent trail behind for the first hour, with restrained projection which only mellows down as time passes. But that's on my pretentious skin, so it could be fairly different on yours. I still find it quite confusing how so many evidently feminine Dusita fragrances are labeled as unisex. Mélodie de l'Amour, La Douceur de Siam, and Splendiris as well all are feminine fragrances. If the brand is trying to imply that "perfume has no gender", then I beg to differ. Regardless, Splendiris is the least feminine-leaning of the aforementioned, yet it will still be a hard wear for most men. For women, this is perfectly suitable from daily office wear, to more special occasions. It does balance daily versatility with memorable scenario-pick quite well. Still, it's not for me. Just too feminine, but I'd definitely love this on a woman. It does feel like a small step-up from most other iris fragrances, particularly on the designer realm. and given that Splendiris goes for €160 for 50ml, it might be worth considering for someone passionate of iris fragrances. It's simple, it's delicate, it's sweet but not overdone, and it's pretty, I can't deny. But just "pretty" won't cut it for most niche offerings, so weigh your options. I received this sample for last year's naming contest on fragrantica, and now I finally come around to review it. I didn't submit a name because I didn't love it enough and wasn't that interested in winning a full bottle, but if I had, my name idea would have been "Rêve Irisé" (iridescent dream, also referring to the iris flower).* The opening is somewhat harsh and old-fashioned to my nose, it reminds me of something I smelled as a child, though I'm not sure what exactly. It's powdery, but also earthy, starchy and somewhat green. I can't really detect all of the citrus notes that are supposed to be in this, and I'm not sure what carrot seeds smell like, but I suspect that this note is strong at first. As the Splendiris dries down it becomes more and more powdery and violet-tinged. The color of the liquid is perfect for this. It's a clean, dry, cosmetic like scent of violet and iris. I can also sense the milky quality of fig leaf here, and it rounds the scent nicely. The vanilla is very subtle and hides underneath all the purple florals. The scent warms up in the drydown, but never goes really warm. This is a multifaceted perfume. At one moment it smells strict and cold to me and I really get the harsh greens, then it smells like frilly old-fashioned femininity and sometimes even slightly sweet and cozy. It doesn't feel 'me' in any way, and I don't really like the opening, but I'd recommend it to true fans of violets and powder. Lasting power and projection are good on me, I really don't have 'perfume eating skin' though. *Oops, I misspelled it at first. I stand corrected. Good that I never submitted the name...

I find the opening to be quite off putting, there is a herbal/greenness that is viscerally upsetting. I am learning that it might be the violet leaf, as I have a similar reaction when I smell Mojave Ghost. However, unlike the Byredo, that zing quickly dissipates in Splendiris. After about 20min it settles down to a whisper of violet and a supportive rose blooms. Though I do not pick up vanilla and ambergris, I can tell there is something warm that is propping up the violet. I personally wish there was more iris in this, the iris that I do pick up is very nice but the composition overall very dominated by a green-y violet. 5/10

The violet-orris elements are spectacular, but this scent is derailed (for me, at least) by the vetiver elements and a nutty component I just can't figure out. It's soft, it's powdery, it's dainty, but there's this weird, off-setting nuttiness that just TOTALLY throws the scent off -- I wish I knew what it is... The violet-leaf is also kept in check (sometimes it can give a cold, icy-pine quality to a scent), but it's just that vetiver which, if I'm being honest, just doesn't belong. I really REALLY wanted to like this scent, too...
