Midnight Datura

This one comes at you, full force, in the shape of a slightly sweet, creamy, powdery, fluffy pink cloud of heady, white flowers. It feels positively overpowering right away, but it actually softens to a sensual skin scent quite fast. Although Midnight Datura comes across as rather sweet and pink in the opening, it is a great mistake to perceive this as just an innocent or cute perfume. Underneath the fluffy floral powder puff there's a darker feeling, something slightly sinister and rather powerful. And that's what makes this scent so alluring and interesting. Midnight Datura is the scent of a Love Goddess that doesn't take no for an answer. Love conquers all, and you're next. There's no escape. She teases you, envelops you in this candy pink cloud, and makes you feel almost drunk with her heady, intoxicating presence. And when you feel like you just can't take anymore she curls up next to you like a soft and cuddly little kitten. Perfectly sweet and innocent. Seemingly. Yes, this fragrance has a strong and forceful opening, but it fades down to a semi sweet, creamy, powdery floral musk after about 15-20 minutes or so. The musk in here smells very arabian to my nose. It reminds me of a couple of arabian perfume oils I own: Abdul Karim al Faransi Tataouine (creamy sweet, floral white musk) and Surati Musk al Tahara (also a type of sweet and creamy white musk with floral nuances). This arabian feeling is an interesting twist in an already pretty intriguing scent, and the luscious, deep arabian aura gives this scent an even stronger undercurrent of sensual strength and alluring charm. It creates a 1001 Nights kind of ambience. Although the fragrance dries down to a skin scent I keep getting lovely whiffs of it in the air all day long. It feels like a skin scent when you smell it up close, but it still has a lot of power it seems. It's soft, but still has a strong presence. I like this one a lot. It's an original and really good take on the "girly pink" scent. Longevity is about 8-9 hours on my skin, and sillage is massive at first, but dries down to a pleasant skin scent.

At first spray, this feels ultra floral and feminine. White florals, sumptuous powderiness, something a bit narcotic, with a hint of boozy fruitiness. This feels both vintage (in an old Hollywood boudoir way, as opposed to a mature grandmotherly way) and modern at the same time. When I first sprayed this, I immediately thought of the character Jessica Rabbit. Despite all of the powdery softness, the combination of spices and rum swirling in the background provide a bit of darkness and mystery, which makes this fragrance quite addicting. As this dries down, it melts into a soft, powdery skin scent that smells like clean, warm skin fresh out of a bubble bath. The dry down actually reminds me a bit of The Now by Sarah Horowitz in that it feels softly musky in a clean skin type of way, as opposed to an animalic way. Overall this is one of my favorites from the line, as it just feels so so sensual to wear. I have sampled all of the fragrances from this line in the discovery set and my favorites are in the following order: Midnight Datura> Venetian Belladona (very close 2nd)> Poppy Soma> Hemlock> Digitalis> Wolfsbane> Mandrake> LOTV> Bloodflower (the only one in the collection that I did not enjoy)

This is a rich and voluptuous floral rounded out by identifiable notes of rum, clove, nutmeg, and patchouli. It's warm with good projection. As it sits on your skin, the amber and wood come forward, making it slightly more unisex. After about 5 hours, the dry-down is very powdery, but not in the baby powder/old lady sense. More like an Old Hollywood vanity with perfumes and expensive cosmetics sitting out. This tells a lovely story. It may be a little strong for close quarters, though.

A sweet floral sticky tuberose, almost jammy, not bubblegummy at all. Strong notes of violet but not gloomy, very uplifting and sensual. Definitely a boozy quality and nice sharp greenery to round it off. Gets a little creamy on the drydown, not as powdery to my nose which I like its definitely a more fresh juicy blooming floral. But with the davana and booziness it does give it that more evening, 'midnight' seductive quality

Roge' nailed it... May be for a woman but man I would wear this. This is a lot of sweet floral everything mixed into one, rolled into a ball of sexy seduction... Good lord I wouldn't even know where to begin... Whatever Davana is/smells like... I God Davana love it!! Ladies please, do your man a solid, bathe in this!!

Unlike my first two retries of the Parfums Quartana Les Potions Fatales collection, Midnight Datura is, actually, quite floral-dominant. It has the feel of a white floral that opens with just a bit of mixed citrus before becoming a seemingly full-on white floral, the datura (of which I'm individually unfamiliar) blending with other white florals like jasmine and tuberose in a fairly sharp mix. Not to be tempered, but at least blended, the white florals mix with spicy accords of patchouli, clove, and pepper, render the perfume rather provocative. Still, it has an air of sophistication as it's somewhat restrained, and it feels rather versatile, working well especially for women, old and young, as it doesn't feel like like a stereotypical old or young ladies' perfume. Some men may undoubtedly enjoy this as well. Its performance is quite great, with significant projection for hours and then a slightly projection for hours thereafter. Superior to Digitalis and LOTV, performance-wise. Categorically, Midnight Datura is not quite my cup of tea, it being a floral-dominant offering, but it's surely well done, with care and complexity befitting the collection and price, the roughly-standard $165-for-50ml going rate via retail establishments in the US, like Perfumology. Certainly worth sampling and it should be overlooked in the collection. 7 out of 10

White floral, citrus, in a boozy frame. I detect magnolia, tuberose, nutmeg, oranges, heliotrope, doses of amber, big time bergamot, few vanilla, and some lily of the valley. This is poisonous ecstasy! i believe this could be the smell of the fiction character "Poison Ivy" with her seductive personality, and charming poison effect. The colder it goes, the more sweet and the more boozier it become. quite sweet, yet soft, and sort of fruitti. It's not a brand new creation as i believe i have sniffed this blend somewhere before, but i can't deny it's charm. Cute. Edit (31st Dec 2021) After 4+ years... CUTE! What THE.... was i writing back then!! No it's NOT cute... it's BEAUTIFUL... I really like the cold soft breeze i am getting while i am sniffing this blend now! It has something sour somewhere like an after taste if i can say this! It's very floral and not fresh cut kind but mature. I get very much magnolia, heliotrope, jasmines (Sambac), musk, mandarin, sandalwood, patchouli, and i believe the sour touch that i am referring at as an after taste is from the rum, im sure it is! and i think also from the magnolia since i dislike this flower but after all, this blend is very alluring, and when it goes close to skin, it goes very fatale. Beautiful.

This is lovely. I am a Yankee, so I could be all wrong about my next association, but this is "midnight" to me in a Southern Gothic-Maycomb County-Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil kind of way. It reminds me of the line from Mockingbird describing the ladies in the heat who by "nightfall were like soft teacakes with frostings of sweat and sweet talcum." It's the rambling front porch on a hot night with the peepers and other night things pulsing around you and the soft scent flowers hanging in the humidity. MD starts with a huge puff of soft powder that makes its presence known. It is more of a flower powder than a baby powder. It quickly settles into a feminine, sultry but well-mannered, dance of flower and spice. I adore the hints of nutmeg that peep through occasionally. In a way it could be the debutante grand-daughter of vintage Organza.

Mmmm Creamy heady floral. Tuberose, heliotrope, something sweet that could easily be datura or rum, and something more watery like gardenia. There is a hint of fruitiness that could be rose or mandarin. The spice is barely detectable giving more tension than scent, as is cedar and lavender. Sandalwood and vanilla give it a haziness. As this settles I have to say that this is one of the best powdery sandalwoods on me. Sandalwood isn't always a note that blooms on my skin, but here it is distinct and lovely. Although that is not to imply that it stops being floral.I put this on before work last night and 14 hours later I can still smell it. It is a jammy yet creamy floral with sandalwood and spice and I'm completely impressed with it's staying power

A narcotic floral that reminds me of those that reigned in the 1980s, Midnight Datura takes a fleshy, intense tuberose and gussies it up with davana oil, with its dried fruit and mulled wine facets, and a heliotrope/vanilla whipped haze. The result is creamy, sensuous, and intoxicating. While it is a bit more restrained than that of Cacharel LouLou, it echoes some of its sass. Nicely done!

My decant starts off very medicinal, becomes ultra powdery, starts to remind me of vintage Elizabeth Arden Red Door, then...ooh. Who is this dreamy, creamy floral on the dry down? Where did that come from? I’d say this is unisex. Yum yum yum.

Midnight Datura is an interesting take on tuberose, one that is, unexpected and unconventional. However, not in the best way unfortunately, as it seems to fall rather flat and sorry for itself in a strange way. It opens with this fleshy freshness, a green leafiness with something sour and tart - totally unnatural and unnerving. This gives way to a powdery facet coming from heliotrope, with a papery, soapy, slightly almond-y character. What you’re left with is a rather clean, softly spoken white floral. Nothing outrageous or nasty, but equally nothing particularly special or memorable.

Let me just throw this out there...This is a really, really good fragrance. Hell, I would wear this and risk the "you smell like a woman" ridicule. With that being said, I think this would make for an egregious blind buy simply due to the absence of prolific notes. Give miracleborgtech infinite balloons. She nailed it by describing its alabaster aspects. This fragrance has all the "white" you would need for a white party. The majority of this fragrance centers around a sumptuous jasmine/vanilla/rum combo that swirls and teases the senses. The note listing says enigma but the fragrance is consistently vanillic thus making it pretty simple to understand. This never morphs into that "Midnight" character but instead segues into a clean laundry aroma fueled by violets and heliotropes. Again, this is a simple fragrance. It's nothing to report beyond that. Not the rubik's cube one may expect. As dishonest as this fragrance appears to be, it turned out to become a beautiful liar.

Midnight datura opens very powdery vintage and white floral. I know tuberose can be a bit polarizing, and it's fairly dominant in this one, so haters be warned. Personally, I love it. It's very pretty and soft, and cut through with a sharp and very sympathetic green note. On my skin, it settles fairly rapidly into a true unisex green powder frag. To my nose, there's a little bit of a sympathetic creosote (/super glue?) note in the mix. I don't think I'd kick a full size to the curb, but couldn't honestly see myself reaching for this very often. The sample set is really interesting and neat, and I do recommend it to anybody interested in expanding their olfactory palette. On a trivial note: the quartana bottles are stunning, but midnight datura is the color of Hawaiian punch- kind of a shame to hide neon red juice behind blue glass

Cyclonic mix of jasmine and florals. Beautiful top notes mushroom out with the force of a gale wind. Like a deluge of multi-dimensional flowers that saturate your space. Slightly changes as different flowers ascend in the vortex. Impressive drydown. Whirlwind accord expands to a heady floral, tempered by a substratal spicy powder. Sumptuous, although the datura is overwhelmed in the crowd. More noticeable late in the drydown. All the perfumes in this collection have great sillage and longevity. You can still smell them on your skin the next morning.

The white florals are obvious but a bit crisp/green, and as it dries down it becomes more unisex. If you like Givenchy's Insense, then you can wear this scent too! Perhaps not on the same level as Insense overall, but definitely an excellent scent by today's standards.
