Intrigo Devastante

After spraying it on the test paper, I left the paper in the room. When I woke up the next morning, the room was filled with a wonderful scent. At first, I couldn't figure it out. It's a Ralph Lauren Safari-like scent, but it smells wonderful. I went and looked at Safari. I thought maybe the bottle was leaking. But the scent wasn't coming from there. The scent was coming from the test papers of the 13 bottles of perfume I bought the day before. I finally found it. Its signature scent. A wonderful perfume. I loved it.

How can I best describe this? Intriguing but not devastating?

Wowsers. I can clearly pick up every note in this and at least one that isn't listed - I can smell patchouli for some reason. It opens really strong on the pepper and woods, which I enjoy, and there's an occasional blast of a cold chemical scent that I'm liking too, but I know it won't last. I've just sprayed it on and came to check it out to see if my nose was right. About 5 minutes in there are some lovely wafts of nutmeg. I hope that this will dry down to lavender amber and sandalwood. I do like this from the opening but I suspect as another reviewer has said, that I won't be devastated by it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A few hours later and I am really rather pleased with this fragrance. It has lasted quite well and is providing a lot of pleasure with wafts of leathery, woody, spicy lavender. That clinical smell hasn't completely disappeared after all. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do. I don't feel the urge to rave about it, but I'm finding it very easy to wear and I may very well purchase a bottle.

I've sampled both Intrigo Devastante and Intrigo Devastante Intense from the website and found them to be very similar to D&G's By Man, mainly in the opening. Unfortunately, both stay almost the same throughout without much development where as By Man's magic unpacks once the dry down reveals itself. They're both decent interpretations of the scent but if you are like me who enjoys By Man's dry down far more than its opening then I'm afraid that neither versions capture that aspect. I truly hope that Parfums Vintage would give it a another go to capture that wonderful warm, comforting dry-down By Man possess.
