Sandal Amber

This is one of the most beautiful ambers I’ve ever smelt. It’s definitely up there with Amber Absolute. Actually if I had to choose between the two I’d chose Sandal Amber because it’s just a better and stronger Amber blend and it lasts. I am crazy about this perfume. I just wish I’d have purchased more bottles as it’s been sold out for almost a year now and it’s not coming back. Something about them not being able to source the same ingredients. So I wear mine sparingly until they get it back and if they never do, well then there’s always Amber Absolut which I have a bottle of and love. I tell u the truth tho, Sandal Amber is not a dupe, it’s miles ahead of AA. Imho it’s a unique and beautiful Amber perfume and I swear that I also can smell rose but no rose is shown. Regardless it is my favorite purchase of this house.

Perfect, gorgeous, masterpiece. This is by far my favorite from Parfums Vintage. They are expensive yes, but they don't pump out new releases like these cheap clone houses. They actually take the time to compose them properly and make sure they are perfected before release. This one opens up with a strong slightly animalic smoky incense. It quickly transitions into a deep, rich amber that envelops the senses. The amber then gets even creamier and richer as the sweet vanilla starts to come out. This juice is truly eternal longevity. Some of this juice got on my collar on a shirt, and for over a month now it hits me in the face when I open my closet. This is a must buy if you love vanillic amber scents!

This is an excellent value proposition when looking for an alternative to amber absolute. I would say it’s about 85% close to the Tom ford inspiration. The difference is mostly in the opening as sandal amber is more sharp & woody whereas tf is more floral, hint of incense, & powdery. However, my favorite thing about amber absolute is it’s dry down which is super powdery, and a slight sweetness from the vanilla. This is where sandal amber is most like it is at dry down with the powdery effects from Vanilla but it’s slightly more sharp from woody notes. Overall, this is one of my favorite fragrance in my collection

Just received this, so am still gathering my thoughts. But this is an excellent rendition of AA, really superb. I'm surprised how close the opening is to TF Tobacco Oud Intense, I get the same I get lovely wet cigar tobacco right off the bat. It's just back in stock so worth grabbing if you were still after it.

I’m was never a parfums Vintage fan! But on my second bottle of this..It was supposed to mock the long discontinued now Tom Ford Amber Absolute which I never got to smell & couldn’t tell you the difference in the two. But this is good stuff!! I own MFK Grand Soir and still happen to like this better!!

Parfums Vintage Sandal Amber opens with a strong projection of incense, amber, and patchouli. The incense is evocative of the burning of dark wet wood, similar to oud, animalic; the patchouli, although listed as a base note, it comes up as soon as the fragrance is applied. The patchouli feels strong, bright, and natural, it adds that green, classy, and old-school vibe to the fragrance. The amber in this fragrance has a rich, woody resinous, and slightly sweet accord. The olibanum joins to support the incense and patchouli with a green and woody accord. The sandalwood is soft woody touch but it is not anywhere near as strong as the incense or patchouli. As the fragrance dries down, the labdanum enters adding its amber-like accord; the vanilla is a faint accord and it has not prominent presence. The opening is pungent, the combination of notes is strong and animalic, but as the fragrance dries down, the notes calm down a bit. Once Parfums Vintage Sandal Amber has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a strong projection, pungent, animalic, dark, incense, patchouli, and amber fragrance. The fragrance feels animalic, bold, classy, commanding, dark, dirty, earthy, heavy, herbaceous, mature, mysterious, nocturnal, old-school, pungent, slightly putrid, resinous, smoky, dark moist wood-like, and mildly pleasant. Comparing Tom Ford Amber Absolute and Parfums Vintage Sandal Amber, this last one has a stronger green patchouli touch, Tom Ford does not. BATCH REVIEWED: 2020 WOW RATING: 10/10. The combination of notes creates an initial dark, similar to animalic oud, pungent, putrid wood-like, accord that initially is very unpleasant. UNIQUENESS: 8/10. The combination of notes creates a very unique fragrance. MASS APPEAL: 0/10. This is not a mass-appeal fragrance. PROJECTION: 5/10. Excellent, about 5 feet around the wearer and intense. Warning: don't wear this to work if you're in an office setting. I hadn't given this a proper wearing beforehand, and sprayed three sprays from a 5ml decant from PV, which normally isn't an over-spray, but good Lord did I light up the hallways. This fragrance is animalic at its core, so be aware if you huff in a swig too closely. On the plus side, with a few sprays you can be hairier than Robin Williams rummaging through Tom Selleck's chest...

Now, this is a high-quality item. The imagery that comes to mind is closely hanging company enjoying indiscriminate yet semi-sweet cocktails after a long day, incense/smoke lingering in the air, and amber-tinged lights following sunset. I prefer this to Grand Soir, as GS is rather simple and Sandal Amber has much more going on, such as smokey incense. I've recently swapped out my Carner Barcelona Ambar Del Sur 100ml, and instead of repurchasing ADS, have picked this up in it's stead -- and wow, so glad I had. Surely, the incense in this item make it much less linear and full bodied than typical sweet ambers. The incense becomes a labdanum patchouli amber, and near the bottom the vanilla and sweeter resins start popping out once it starts calming down. To be honest, that "smokey" nuanced layer in the notes by the bottle of every item on this site, for this item in particular, has piqued my interests to full throttle, as I've been looking for a "smokey amber" for a long, long while now. I wish I had a sample of Tom Ford's Amber Absolute, of which this is in inspiration of -- if that is anything as good as Parfums Vintage's take, it'd be a killer. On another note, in all other items, Labdanum is a turn-off for me and in this item, like a light switch, it makes complete sense for this fragrance theme, combination. It is so contributive to the overall picture that, without Labdanum, it would be hard to imagine what would fill the empty volume without it! I believe it's how the African Incense and Labdanum paly off of each other around the Amber perfectly ... 9/10 and nothing less, this is the greatest amber in my collection.

This came in a lot of PV samples that I recently purchased. WOW! I've only been wearing this for a short time, but I'm already quite impressed. Right away it compares to Amber Absolute, but to me it's got a heavy suede feel. Like someone sprayed AA on a pair of new suede gloves. Damn, I'm gona turn some heads with this, once we can all start socializing again. Until then, I'm going to enjoy this at home because I agree, definitely not office friendly. Can't even rate this yet but i really enjoy it!

If you are looking for an original Amber Absolute fragrance but can't get it, then this is a great option. Sandal Amber is an extremely close clone that is very high quality and it is difficult to tell the difference after 10 - 15 minutes. Both last for ages on my skin. Parfums Vintage really know what thy are doing. I would definitely recommend buying a bottle of this juice if you are a fan of Amber Absolute. This is a close to beast mode fragrance.

Got this today and wow this is seriously good stuff. As a late comer to AA and extortionate prices for new reserve collection this smells just like amber absolute. Arrived within 2 days a great company to deal with.

I've never been a big fan of the note of AMBER...but I will say this Sandal Amber is outstanding in the overall performance category (BEAST).
