Nile Whispers

Even though there's caramel and vanilla in the notes, it's not sweet at all. It's very leathery, spicy and dry. It's called 'Nile whispers' but I wouldn't associate this scent with a river at all. It's very dry and medicinal. If it was called 'desert whispers' I could understand the name. Yet weirdly enough, I like the scent. Not for everyday, no. It's a mood. But I like it.

This one is said to be inspired by the original, though I haven’t smelled that myself. My thoughts on the Ministry of Oud version: * Opening: The first spray is sharp and a bit off-putting — almost alcoholic with a smoky edge that borders on insect-repellent territory. Not the most inviting start. ** Development: About 10 minutes in, it softens into something warmer and sweeter. Notes of dates, leather, and vanilla start to emerge, layered over resinous benzoin with a slightly smoky, incense-like base. *** Drydown: On skin, the fragrance becomes much more pleasant — a cozy blend of warm spicy dates, soft benzoin, a touch of leather, and vanilla. In the air, though, it can feel somewhat disjointed, almost like a confusing mix of dry resins. The date note isn’t very prominent; if anything, it leans more toward stale or dried-out dates. Overall: Definitely unisex, with a drydown that offers moments of warmth and mystery. Still, the composition feels a bit unbalanced and doesn’t fully win me over. Interesting to try, but not one I’d keep in my collection.

Oud and smoke over leather. It's unisex but more masculine. It opens very strong and masculine but after 10-15 minutes it develops into a warmer leathery oud more unisex. I think i will combine it with a bit of vanilla to soften in a bit. UPDATE: As it smelled very manly I gave it to my boyfriend, he seemed to like it, so he wore it a couple times. After that we both hated it, it is too overpowering and chaotic. Not a nice scent.

Weirdly inviting, like a strange unattractive lady with a moustache asking me to come into her brothel. I want some love but... Maybe not today? Keeping it just in case my taste changes in the future. It is interesting enough to intrigue me. This happened with Avant Silk, by Maison Alhambra.

Just received this and its quite oudy and ashy smelling. I know these brands need time to macerate so I'll come back in a few weeks to review. But straight out the box, not impressed. No dates, no vanilla, no caramel, sweetness at all. Just ash and something like oud.
