Fairy Dust

I think people are just so ridiculously snobby when it comes to what name is on the outside of a perfume box. Who freakin' cares! Me personally, if it smells good, I like it. It's not like the celebrity/designer who made it personally put their DNA into every bottle and it's going to contaminate you. It's not like she sat down and mixed every bottle. A perfumer made it, she ok'd it, and she and the perfumer/perfume house share the profits of the sales. I know all of the bad reviews on this fragrance are most likely simply because it's a Paris Hilton fragrance. Slap a Chanel label on the same stuff and half of you would be crooning about how marvelous it is. That being said, I think this smells great. I am a Fruity Floral, Oriental Vanilla, and Gourmand kind of girl. I have ventured outside of those olfactory groups from time to time(I have tried straight florals and aquatics),only to be terrified and running back home to the sweeter things. This is a very pleasant, and non offensive everyday type of fragrance. I'm not really good at picking out individual notes, but to me this smells like sugared sweet roses, which is right up my alley. At work I sit at the desk in the front office that everyone has to walk into to enter the building. All day people kept walking in and exclaiming "oh wow, it smells so good in here!". I told one lady it was Paris Hilton and I saw her kind of give that look like "ew, really?", but she said "well it smells amazing!". Case in point right there. The lasting power is amazing, and the price is unbeatable. I do admit that the packaging and bottle were a little bit of a letdowm. A perfume so sweet smelling should have had a more elaborate and less cheap looking bottle. The etched fairy on the front is just tacky. But again, it's the juice you'll be wearing, not the bottle or the designer. People should have more of an open mind about fragrances. You may be missing out on something you may really enjoy because you're so preoccupied with whose name is on the label. Who cares if it's a celebrity fragrance, or a "drustore" fragrance, or "cheap" or whatever?! On my dresser, I have everything from Revlon's Fire and Ice to Creed's Love In Black. Realize that when fragrances are expensive, it is not neccesarily because you are getting a more quality product. You are just paying for packaging and advertising for a big name. Stop being a snob, cause you're missing out, people!If it smells good, wear it!

I still have no idea why everyone hates this so much! I own all of Paris Hilton's perfumes, and I dearly love her since meeting her back in 2008 showed me how sweet and human she is. I find her fragrances to be incredibly top-notch since they provide complex, unique arrangements of notes for fabulous prices. Aside from Dazzle, you could probably find a 3.4oz of any of her fragrances for less than $30. Fairy Dust is one of those fragrances I bought for the collection, but I always forget about it when I"m choosing a fragrance to wear...today was a very warm, humid, rainy day where I live, and after getting drenched in a thunder-storm, I needed to reapply to enjoy a nice, cozy evening at home. For some reason, I reached for Fairy Dust and doused myself with it since I have such a huge, unused bottle...and wow, I really don't know how I could forget about this one! Everyone screams about how generic it is, but I really don't see how this could be considered "generic" since everything out these days smells like chocolate, lollipops, and cotton candy. This isn't just a white floral...there's something a bit deeper under there that makes this truly beautiful. Don't get me wrong, gardenia is truly the queen of this fragrance, dominating it from start to finish..but the musk and the patchouli creates this beautiful, powdery sheen to the gardenia. My favorite aspect of this fragrance is how the peach really makes this sparkling and fairy-esque, by giving a slight, juicy tinge to it that strikes the nose every now and then, which is reminiscent of high-end nail-polish to me. This is a beautiful, underrated perfume, and it's a shame to see so much hate for it. You have to take it for what it's worth. Paris isn't known for producing masterpieces, so why is everyone holding her line to that standard? Appreciate this fragrance for what it is: A fresh, powdery, fizzy, sparkling gardenia perfume that lasts three to five hours with mid-length sillage.

This perfume smells identical to Juicy's Juicy Couture for Women perfume. I used to wear the juicy one a few years back but had run out and didn't feel like spending another $45 dollars on a small bottle. I wanted to try one of paris' scents and decided on fairy dust because of the advertisement commercial that I found on youtube. It was a complete blind buy and one that I am so happy with! I was so surprised when I first sprayed some out and smelled such a familiar scent. If you love the original Juicy Couture scent than you will absolutely love this one. The only noticeable difference to me is that this scent seems a little bit boozy or alcoholic initially although that part of it blends in quickly with the rest of the notes. If you don't want to spend the money on the Juicy one or want to try it before investing more money into the Juicy fragrance definitely try this one. The bottle is kind of eh to me. While I like the blue sprayer and the clear top that covers the bottle I do not really like the bottle itself. If the fairy wouldn't have been printed onto the bottle it would have been like one of the vintage bottles that women displayed on their vanities back in the day. The addition of the fairy imprint makes the bottle seem sort of weird to me though because it is not really playfully designed so it just seems out of place. The bottle is too serious for the fairy image and not playful enough for the theme of the fragrance in my opinion. It isn't a big deal though and is cute enough for me to want to display. Overall I love this perfume especially considering the price point and how unique it is considering it is a celebrity fragrance. Definitely worth a smell at the least, 5/5 for me.

Although I am surprised that more people have not given Fairy Dust thumbs up, I completely understand why some people dislike it. I have found that Fairy Dust can act as a chamelion on my skin. At times I get choked out by thestrongly everesscent opening that reacts like aldehydes on steroids, but I think is only how the bubbly Processo accord reacts.Speaking of which: What happened the Processo on the breakdown of notes?? That part clears fairly quickly, and what remains is the sweet tartness that reminds me of those sweet wine coolers that were so big back when I became of age. I didn't like being reminded constantly of being 19 again spilling wine coolers on my concert t-shirt on a booze cruize in Boston Harbour. This scent plays your senses, at once smelling strongly chemical, while other times developing very beautifully. When that happens, the flowers take front center stage. Those are the times the fragrance smells fresh and summery and comforting. This is because thankfully, I don't get that musk an patchouli listed above...can't stand either!!! I would give Fairy Dust a 3 out of 5. It is ahead of some of the big ticket department store offerings (That's you, Chloe Love Story, you chemical bomb). It's that Paris Hilton did not market it to those who understand just because it is an aldehydic floral-does not make it "old-lady"

I am most proud to say that this has been in my collection for years! It is one of my grab-n-go’s . I have been through several bottles, so I rack up on them when I see them being sold. This smells just like the Original Juicy Couture scent for women. So, if you are looking for an inexpensive DUP of that scent (Juicy Couture, Juicy Couture), then Fairy Dust is for you! Weirdly, every time I visit our local gas station to get gas, I am complimented from wearing this scent from both GUYS and GIRLS. Some look shock when I tell them what the scent is; others are getting out their phones looking it up to buy. LOL funny. This can be classified as a mature scent, however, anyone can pull it off in my opinion! I wear both men and women scents. It depends on your body’s chemistry what you will get from this magical elixir. Tuberose, Creamy Vanilla, & Clean Linen is what I get from this one, and its last a long time on me. I suggest, chunking out the notion that this is an “old lady” scent and dare to be different. All fragrance adjusts to your natural body scent. If it makes you happy, wear it! Who knows, you may discover and new favorite in this one. After all, fairies are full of magic and wonder.
