Ruby Rush

Just by seeing the Cherry & Whipped Cream, I knew this couldn't fail. But I had no idea how remarkable this scent would be. In the opening, I'm met with a bold, sweet, and mildly tart Cherry. There's a sparkly liquor accord that slightly remind me of Lost Cherry by Tom Ford, but it quickly fades, and the Whipped Cream and Vanilla blossoms, shifting the gears of this fragrance and triggering memories of one of my favorite KKW scents, Kimoji Cherry. They both share prominent notes of Cherry, Whipped Cream, and Vanilla. But Ruby Rush is lighter and more airy; something that can suit warm weather, while Kimoji Cherry is more warmer and more suitable for the colder days. They're not identical, but they do share a lot of similarities. As this settles on my skin, the Cherry calms and brings itself to the level of the Whipped Cream and Vanilla, while still renaming prominent enough to outshine the florals in this composition. As much as I would've loved to smell Dahlia, Hibiscus and Water Lily, the Creamy Cherry & Vanilla combo were doing just fine on their own. Ruby Rush gave me a very decent performance. I got 5 and a half hours of longevity on my skin with a strong sillage that was still giving me whiffs of creamy Cherry up until the 5th hour before it faded. But it lasted 8+ hours on my shirt. For the $70 price tag, I cannot complain. Is this a fragrance worth $70?? You would have to be the judge of that. But if you're a fan of Kimoji Cherry or always wanted to try it, Ruby Rush is definitely a good substitute. If you love Cherry scents in general, Ruby Rush would make a nice addition to your collection. Scent: 10/10 Packaging: 10/10 Performance: 7/10

I bought this to compare it to my almost empty cherry in the air by Escada, hoping it could act as a replacement. Compared to cherry in the air, ruby rush is super powdery. Cherry in the air is a lot more sour and has a fresh squeezed juiciness to it. With ruby rush, on me at least, the florals and powder (assuming the musk?) dominate the first impression of each sniff, whereas the cherry and cream notes lie more in the background, giving it a grounded base. It is not as cherry forward as I had hoped, based on the hype around it. I actually get a lot more of the raspberry bloom note compared to the cherry personally. In the dry down, the sandalwood comes out to play, but it does not deepen the scent much. I reckon that's due to the waterlily cutting through it and adding an aquatic element, though this perfume certainly cannot be labelled an aquatic, so do not worry if you aren't into those! I can see why people say it smells like kids shampoo, but I don't fully agree. Ruby rush isn't the most unique perfume, sure, but I don't know if I can call it generic with the level of powderiness it gives off. I associate kids shampoo with being more floral fruity but devoid of powder. I think ruby rush would great for every day wear where you just want to smell nice without standing out too much, and is a pretty safe blind buy considering the price, as long as you aren't too hooked on the hyped idea of it being a very creamy cherry, and are into powdery scents! The projection is somewhat close to the skin, and the longevity about 3-4 hours, but with a 100ml bottle at this price point, I don't mind having to both overspray and then respray later!

You know those scented Strawberry shortcake dolls ? In the drydown I get something like that but with a light cherry undertone. It opens as a flowery, slightly cherry-esque shampoo,and it remains shampoo like for the first 3-4 hours. It starts out like a pretty, clean, easy reach fragrance, but nothing special. But if you give it a fair shot, that is when the magic happens ! The florals die down, and a sweet, delicious creamyness emerges. Whipped cream with vanilla, mixed with a little bit of cherry. Less sillage at this point if you only spray on skin, but if I spray my clothes I do keep getting delicious whiffs throughout the whole day. I hate the bottle, but I must say this doesn't smell cheap at all, nor too juvenile. And although the first few hours it's just Ok and nothing too special, the drydown is worth the wait. The more I wear it, the more I like it ! And out of the hundreds of perfumes I own, I have nothing that smells quite like this. Not a true gourmand but still a beautifully sweet and cozy scent. Not a very prominent cherry here though. If you're looking for a very-cherry cheapie option I would recommend Guess seductive red. That one smells like delicious cherry candy from start to finish. 🍒 Longevity is around 6+ hours with moderate sillage,but sprayed on clothes it lasts well into the next day. Overall, a very nice fragrance with good performance for a ridiculous low price. 👍

My mum came into my room slightly tipsy to have a conversation with me until she was distracted by my huge perfume collection. Noting she knew I had perfume but not this much lol. This was followed by a conversation about perfume as she tested various bottles in my collection. She then notes how she smelt something really good at on me just recently. I'm fairly certain it was this fragrance. We both shared a mutual joy for it. This is coming from someone who has a polar opposite taste from me (she's very Gucci Flora/D&G Dolce and im Mugler Alien/Lolita Lempicka). This is how you do a cherry fragrance! I feel sorry for anyone who can't detect the cherry because it's definitely there. Its softened by the whipped cream & florals, ultimately drying to a musky cherry base. Although the lasting power would be the only thing stopping me from giving this top marks. I would rank this as her best from the Rush line with Gold rush coming a close second, or even tied. I paid $50 AUD through fragrancenet as it isn't available in Australia yet. In closing, it was genuinely nice that I was able to have a flowing conversation with my mum as it's something that doesn't happen too often, especially through something like perfume! Rank: B+

I’m not into Celeb scents, but this one is a rarity. I also do not like cherry scents as most of them smell like cough syrup. Yes, even the well know over hyped ones. This fragrance is everything I’ve ever wanted in a cherry scent. It is not dominated by just cherry, and it is not an overload of cloying sweet cough syrup. It’s a airy, fluffy scent with a delicate softness, yet performance is beast. It’s more floral with cherry and fruit. Crystallized sugar with a whipped lactonic topping. Please note, I’m also not a gourmand fan, but this one is balanced with notes complimenting each other. I want to say that I do not at all get cheap from this. I don’t even like that term cheap. I like to use the word artificial. In this case I don’t get that at all. The opening is floral fruity aquatic. It fastly changes to a fluffy and milky floral with a bit of powder, gentle and soft. Giving way to a sweet drizzle of goodness over flowers and fruit. It then transforms and you get sandalwood mixed with the florals and cherry sorta balancing it all out and giving a bit of a more mature aspect. I truly enjoy this fragrance. Get a sample, and see if your nose likes it as much as I do.
