Gardens Of India 79

What a surprise this was. I genuinely love this perfume, and I love how completely out of left field it arrived in my life. I already enjoy certain white florals, with tuberose firmly at the top of my list, but jasmine can be tricky territory. It turns plasticky fast if mishandled (and yes, I’m looking at a good chunk of Michael Kors’ output). This, though, was love at first sniff, and unexpectedly complex as it unfolds. At first glance, it reads as a white floral aromatic, but as it develops, something far more interesting reveals itself. There’s a hidden patchouli woven through the heart, entirely unexpected, and nothing like the usual suspects. No funk, no skank, no heaviness. Instead, it’s light, clean, almost white in character, lending depth without ever announcing itself. I’ve never smelled patchouli handled quite like this before. In many ways, this feels less like a floral perfume and more like a quiet, secret love letter to patchouli, discreet, restrained, and deeply considered. The kind of affection that doesn’t need to shout to be meaningful. The sillage is fairly modest, lasting around three hours, so I tend to reapply halfway through the day. It’s gentle, impeccably office-safe, and after about four hours it settles into a soft musky veil that hugs the skin for another couple of hours if you don’t top up. I’ll absolutely be buying a full bottle once my two samples are finished. My only real complaint is the longevity, but perhaps not every love is meant to last all day. That doesn’t make it any less real, or any less worth having.

A very intoxicating floral, which I really like even if I'm usually not into sweet and floral perfumes. I love sandalwood, so that may be one contributing factor. And as someone said earlier, there's definitely more than three ingredients here. Call me crazy, but once I layered Gardens of India with Papyrus Oud / 71 I truly learned to appreciate it! If you too "want it all", I wholeheartedly recommend you try that. :) And someone please tell me which perfume the combination reminds me of, I've definitely smelled something similar (not quite as good, though) in the past, but can't put my finger on it...

As others have noted, this is a tuberose & jasmine for people who don't like white florals! Tuberose usually gives me a headache or makes me sick or both, so happy I've found a tuberose and jasmine perfume that I can enjoy the whole time I wear it without eventually needing to scrub it off. It's definitely more of a skin scent (which I think is a big part of why it works for me, I think it's the heady stuff that messes me up.) And the drydown is so creamy and lovey and...spicy? Just a beautiful perfume! Definitely fbw to me!

This is a lovely white floral. It's light and dewy, gentle and soft. It's like smelling flowers on the breeze after a fresh rain. The opening is just wonderful to me, though it doesn't last as long as I'd like. Not the most unique perhaps, but it's very pretty. The drydown has a touch of warmth and a woody dryness from the sandalwood. Sometimes it has a bit of a fresh laundry vibe. Overall it's a delicate daytime scent. Doesn't project strongly or last very long. Works well during summer days, though spring suits it better.

Beautiful, fresh white flowers, and a clean, creamy sandalwood. A little heat and juicy humidity, monsoon on the horizon. But this isn’t indolic, overt, or needy. It’s subtle in its projection and its message. I’m loving it as a man. I don’t disagree with the comments below on its feminine direction, but my skin brings out some woodiness and spiciness and it’s a bit like Amouage Reflection Man but less try-hard, it doesn’t fill the room with a need to impress. A surprising, subtle and delightful signature scent for a guy.

This is my second review, 12 months on from my first: I love Gardens of India 79 so much that I recently treated myself to another bottle; it has made me love Tuberose and other white flowers♥️ There’s just nothing else quite like it (in my humble opinion) I have purchased Fracas, L’Interdit, and Tuberose Angelica in this past year, they are all lovely in their own way, but Gardens of India is my favourite🥰 It’s warmth and elegance comfort me, even on bad days.

This perfume is definitely different. It's soft and familiar, a scent I smelt in Bali or Malaysia somewhere. It's also like a mixture of a cool, light fruity drink cross fruity shampoo. It's simple, balanced and beautiful, not what I expected. Very natural smelling, no synthetic here. Tip: If you feel that this perfume is lacking a bit of punch, layer it with Narcotic V, the two together is devine.

Describing a fragrance in notes just doesn’t do certain perfumes justice and that is very much the case here. It smells very floral and sweet but in a natural way, not like candy but more like fruit... like red apple. Sweet and slightly tart, very floral... pushing the sweetness of florals to the point of where it starts to be fruity. Also, I don’t smell it as much on my skin as in the air.

I usually find white floral fragrances just too much, especially if they’re heavy on the Tuberose. Gardens of India 79 is the exception to this rule, it’s well blended, neither overpowering nor insipid. I love this perfume, it may have made a Tuberose convert out of me. Edited to add: January 2020, Gardens of India has made a Tuberose convert out of me♥️

An extremely beautiful white floral scent. Definitely not for men although it is marketed as a unisex perfume. I get loads of jasmine and tuberose but no sandalwood. Very versatile and well blended notes. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 7/10

I don’t think I believe their claim that this scent is really only jasmine, tuberose, and sandal haha. It’s very perfumey and almost lipsticky. I agree with cranky137 below that the smell is pink. Very beautiful, great feminine stuff.

Just bought this for my husband, he doesn't usually go wow for any perfumes but he really liked this! Uncomplicated, fresh, clean yet sophisticated with the sandalwood! Nicely made!

I love this one. It reminds me of my Barbies perfume from the 80s (my white whale). Super clean, floral, crisp, linear. A comforting floral.

I believe Tuberose is the most popular and prominent flower in perfumery today, a flower that in the past has been more divisive among floral fans. Gardens of India 79 debuted in 2019, but I’m sampling it for the first time, and it’s just one of many new releases of the past couple of years that center around the diva of all white florals, Tuberose. But does Gardens of India stand out from the pack? I agree that it’s very pretty, with its bold floral bloom opening, before turning more wearable in the dry down....but there’s not a lot of layers I can peel back. Jasmin is the only other note I detect, and if sandalwood is here it’s a predictable, safe choice. I don’t think there’s anything unusual or unique in the composition, something that would separate it from others in the genre. This enjoyable perfume is a strong performer, and I do like it. But I have other Tuberose centric perfumes that I find more interesting. Spicy cinnamon Tuberose No. 9 by Elie Saab; creamy, exotic Champs Lunaires by Rogue; almond and coconut milk driven Datura Noir by Serge Lutens; and the coffee gourmand leaning Café Tuberosa by Atelier Cologne to name a few.

I've never been a huge white floral fan, but have enjoyed Diptyque's Do Son and Eau Moheli in the past. To me, I associate white florals, especially the very rich, aromatic ones like tuberose with sensuality and maturity– like something I'd want to wear if I wanted to exude womanliness. I often *don't* feel that way (lmao) so I generally don't find myself reaching for white florals on the regular. I do think that this is a nice white floral that is sensual and velvety without being a huge scent bomb. In fact, I actually think the sweetness of the flowers and the creamy, skin scent are amplified by moisture. I put it on my wrist and between my cleavage on a warmer day, and to my surprise, it made me feel like I was in a dewy, fresh garden instead of some funky, sweaty bog. Someone visiting the LA Scentbar told me that I'd probably enjoy this after we bonded over our love for A Lab on Fire's Freckled and Beautiful, and I'm glad I gave it a chance. I still wouldn't say that it's become a favorite, but I definitely agree that it is a pretty white floral that might win over the most skeptical.

I find it hard to avoid a headache with jasmine fragrances. This, however, is done with a lot of skill. It's balanced, pretty, feminine, but a bit too simple for my taste. For someone who adores floral fragrances as a category, this is to die for! I love how the excess floral dies down into a sweet and feminine je ne sais quoi, as the main reason why I usually find florals so difficult/uninteresting/tacky is that I hate when one flower is overpowering the others. However, this one melts into something sexy and delicious, so in my books this is one of the few great florals. It does require quite a bit of sitting on the skin, though, before hitting that sweet spot.

This smells like kindness. It is so gentle and delicate -it walks the line between laundry fresh and a realistic sweet spring breeze - really a remarkably likeable scent. While it isn't in the note pyramid, I find that this fragrance is strongly reminiscent of clover honey. There's a touch of greenness, an aromatic background player that makes this just beautiful. It evokes total innocence; it's a honeyed floral that somehow avoids the indolic jasmine, cloying tuberose, and pee-like honey pitfalls that so many other fragrances fall into. It brings to mind soft voices, white cotton, and gentle demeanors.

I don't know what note in this makes this smell fruity on me, unless it is a fruity tuberose as is sometimes the case, but for some reason I am getting Toca Florence vibes here. I know, I know, the notes are not alike, but it is definitely in the same ballpark of a pretty fresh and fruity watery floral. Tocca uses pear. I don't know what note here is giving me the same vibe. While I like this just as much as I like Tocca, since it reminds me so much of something I already have I will be taking a pass on this.

I absolutely love this one. It smells like an Indian temple. The mix of jasmine and sandalwood is lovely. I am also getting some sort of incense that transports me back to the temple with my grandmother. Or even the Indian grocery store. That smell of incense before they are burned if that makes sense. It smells like home for me. It is a clean smell that some may find basic. It hits all the notes for me. I think it would make a good everyday scent. This might become my signature scent.

I smell sweetened tuberose and sweet jasmine tea however the sweetness is never overbearing. It's not indolic at all but it is waxy like lipstick and a bit soapy. Reminds me of Lys 41, but Lys41 is sweeter than Gardens of india. I prefer Lys 41. It actually reminds of me Fichi e Panna by Kyse without the fig note. Gardens of India is a skin scent on me, which I don't mind at all. -

This is nice, really nice actually.Not a heady tuberose, not a heady indolic jasmine,but rather light Bright pink floral (yeah, actually the flower are technically White, but the spirit of the scent is pink). It reminds of a modern version of Burberry Weekend. And I really like it. I got a decant through Sniph.

This is a very soft scent . It’s beautiful ... but too soft for my liking . I do enjoy the creaminess that the sandalwood gives. Just very simple. No complexity which a lot of people can appreciate. Enjoyed my sample ! 6.9/10

Nice perfume, but female oriented in my opinion. I smell mainly white florals and a little sweetness. It also has a soapy aspect to the scent. Nice for spring and summer, but also year round in my opinion.

Motherly, milky, comforting white floral. Nice projection and well blended. Has a lightness to it that I appreciate, no bubblegum or grape notes either. Might be full bottle worthy!

Am I crazy or is there calone in this? It's a pleasant enough white floral blend, tuberose being present but not dominating, without going into hairspray territory. However, I can't help but pick up an aquatic, almost cucumber-like element that I'm not that fond of. It gives the perfume an 90's vibe to me, without replicating an actual popular scent from the time. Or like if you were walking through an outdoor mall, romanticizing the smells of passing by flowers and a central fountain, but really just picking up on the fragrances wafting off shoppers and out of stores. It's okay. With so many tuberose or jasmine perfumes out there, there's nothing that exciting going on here.

This scent isn’t just made up of these notes; I was almost sure I smelled orange blossom, but I couldn’t find it when I looked it up. There’s a sweet white floral note at its core; pure, beautiful, and creamy but there’s also another floral note with a slight citrusy hint that I can’t quite figure out. It’s not a cold scent; its sweetness makes it cheerful. I feel like I’ve smelled similar ones before it’s not unique. I prefer the opening; towards the end, it turns into a kind of shampoo-like vibe.

This is heavenly and I really, really wanted it to work on my skin. The user who said this smells "like kindness" is right: there's something "benevolent" and deep about this fragrance, in the way the sandalwood manages to elevate the jasmine and the tuberose. Sadly, on my skin it stays for an hour or so then gets a weird sweet smell that lasts forever, like vanilla play-doh. Such a shame, because on paper I get the beautiful evolution for days, and only on the third day some sweetness comes up.

Gardens Of India 79 by Parle Moi de Parfum is a pleasant tropical tuberose fragrance with a creamy, lotion-like quality. It captures a summery vibe, making it an enjoyable choice for warm weather. However, it doesn't stand out much from other similar tuberose scents, offering a familiar experience rather than something unique.

No this is no way reminds me of Diptyque Do Son!! Do Son gives me super headache (I’m a white floral fan btw) this gardens of India is totally different!! This is smoothing relaxing not those creamy headachey white floral fragrance. After the initial spray I “ah this is a white floral fragrance for the people who hate white floral” popped on the mind immediately! If you hate tuberose like I do hahhaa you have to try this one ! This is a gorgeous non-creamy subtle white floral ! Love it so much considering a FB

A pleasant fragrance, but weak on me in both sillage and longevity. I also like tuberose to have a bit of impact to it and this doesn’t have that. A bit disappointed overall. Update - I have decided my initial reaction was inaccurate and I now really enjoy this. It’s gentle and calming.

Tuberose with warm spices. The woodiness supports the flowers, and not the other way around. Smells like a hug from an older relative. It's sweet but not irritating or juvenile. If you are already a tuberose fan, this will be a safe blind buy because it is fairly boring. 8.5/10

I tried Chanel’s Gardenia today. I was surprised to realize that Gardens of India smells similar to Gardenia. Now I’m wondering whether ‘Gardens of India’ is just un jeu de mots, and whether the perfumer was trying to recreate Chanel’s Gardenia using other materials.

I loved this one and decided to test it for the day, sprayed it all over my body, went for a walk and it started to smell like piss. I think it probably doesn't go well with the heat or something but it was nauseating and it didn't last long at all anyways so..

This is a pretty pretty fragrance. It is a creamy white floral and I got a hint of apricot even though it's not listed. It lingers beautifully for several hours as if the bride left her bouquet on display for all her guests to breath in the love and enjoy.

It is so sweet and innocent, so beautiful. No musky or screechy white florals. This is like showering in the mist of a waterfall and using jasmine petals as shampoo. The review from SophiaG is spot on.

I do not get the sandalwood but jasmine and tuberose yes , a lot. Reminds me of my teacher when I was 7. She wore something very similar 42 years ago. Don’t know what it could have been...

It’s such a beautiful perfume! Creamy smooth floral, very feminine. I wish it would be slightly louder but it’s just my personal preference. Extremely beautiful fragrance ❤️
