Milky Musk 39

I've been longing to find perfect sandalwood scent and I think this is it. I was really looking forward to try Santal 33, because they don't sell it in my country and it was kind of tricky to get the sample. But when I got it (although I have already smelt it on other people and loved it), I was kind of disappointed. It is too harsh, making me sneeze and it left me feeling like it overshadowed my character. IMO, Milky Musk is something completely different. I have kind of fallen in love with Santal Blush by Tom Ford, but it is just too expensive for its soft performance. I still love it in a way, but I find it way more generic than Milky Musk (I expect people to disagree with that:) The first thing I love with this perfume, is its name. I think is great that it doesn't include the word 'santal'. Because the thing it does best, is its milkiness. I love milk note and my taste leans to gourmandish scents, but I am aware that in Milky Musk, there is no milk note. There's just the feature of sandalwood that is milky and creamy. This is what I love the most. Creamy, comforting scent, which feels like musky second skin, but is at the same time very modern and actually insists on making everything about sandalwood. I associate it with people in my life, who make me feel good and relaxed, which may seem simple, but these people are really hard to find. In my opinion (especially if I compare it to other, iconic 'santal' fragrances), the price value is great. At least the original one, not the Lucky Scent one (what is with that?). It is really good fragrance with subtle complexity, amazing scent and quality performance. On my skin, woody notes normally dominate, so I don't actually sense any fig or coconut note some reviewers have mentioned, but I agree, there might be some other not listed note, that adds the stickiness. Also, the longevity and sillage are not the best, but as one of the reviewers has said: I don't know if I would love it so much, if it was stronger. Even though I have some kind of aversion to fragrances that are commonly admired, I am so happy that Milky Musk has so many positive reviews that understand its beauty. Can't wait to buy my own whole bottle of Milky Musk, I would love to have it around me forever.

Absolutely gorgeous scent. The below review does a pretty comprehensive job of covering the pros/cons. I just received a bunch of samples from LuckyScent and this one I fell in love with instantly. I just had to order a full bottle. I went with ordering directly from Parle Moi de Parfum because LuckyScent charges nearly twice as much. I am so happy with this fragrance because when I first read about By Kilian's Sacred Wood, I wanted to try it so badly. Then I found out it was discontinued and not available anywhere, except a small decant on ebay. This scent seems to embody exactly what I was seeking, a milky, woody, musky aura... faint sandalwood, perfect for any weather, any situation. I love it and hope they keep making it. I might have to order their discovery set and try a few others by this company next. Edit 6/30/20: I received my 50ml bottle directly from the company, speaking of which, they have excellent customer service. A few days after placing the order I hadn't received an order confirmation, so I sent them an email inquiry. Benjamin Almairac got right back to me and apologized, realizing they had an IT issue and my order was shipped out the next day or so. They sent me FOUR free 2ml samples! The packaging and presentation was beautiful. I just placed another order for a 100ml bottle because I love it so much. Oh, and this time I did get the order confirmation email immediately, so they fixed that. I spray this fragrance on my pillows and bedding at night, and it seems as though it is becoming my signature fragrance. I can't be without it. It is light, yes, but it definitely lasts long on clothes, fabric and hair for sure. And I think to myself if it was too strong, I probably wouldn't like it. It is just right the way it is. I hope they never stop making it!

Milky Musk is the perfume that makes me think, "FINALLY!" I mean what took so damn long for someone to create that perfect simple, milky sandalwood scent? I know it's called milky musk, but milky sandalwood seems to make more sense. It's really not very musky on me. I was expecting something along the lines of a white musk with some woody and creamy nuances, but this ends up being mostly creamy sandalwood with just a hint of musk, if any, really. There are so many perfumes that I tried as I was looking for this sort of thing. They were always too sweet, too powdery, too floral, too synthetic. Its creaminess borders on coconut cream. It smells almost like coconut, but not exactly. It also reminds me of the Chantilly whipped cream that is served at my favorite crèpe house. Intensely creamy, like you're really getting all the fat from the cream, and only a tad sweet. The creamiest sandalwood perfumes I know of are Lorenzo Villoresi's Musc, Radio Bombay, and Mojave Ghost. In comparison, Milky Musk is simpler than those three, totally linear too, but if creamy wood is all you are looking for, look no further. I tried Kilian's Sacred Wood several times, it always smelled anemic, hollow, purely synthetic. Milky Musk blows it out of the water. Santal 33 is a favorite perfume that I've owned for years. I don't find it to be in the same vein as Milky Musk. Santal 33 is quite complex--green sandalwood and other woods with definite papyrus, plus a subtle tropical fruitiness about it. This is just milky sandalwood--that's it. Fantastic! One of the best finds of the year for me. Edit: Coming back to this and seeing people saying it's a skin scent, it just shows that of course one must try for themselves. This is not a skin scent on me, it projects and lasts all day long.

Sandalwood, Fig, & Musk... Not much to break down here, & certainly nothing to complain about, either. Milky Musk is subtle simplicity done very, very well. [Cough cough.... *Fig should be a listed note*!] This is a fantastic soft & creamy sandalwood that's hard to stop sniffing. I love Diptyque's Tam Dao when I'm in the mood for a solid sandalwood, but this has its place in your collection even if you already own it. Milky Musk dials up the creaminess while pulling back on the woody vibe completely, resulting in a very smooth, almost edible sandalwood slightly sweetened by the inclusion of fig. On me at least, the "musk" element never becomes obvious; it just lends itself to the overall effect of the scent. As the first review by Calvini states, "This should be renamed Milky Sandalwood, although it's much less woody on skin". He's not wrong. The fig is more prominent than might be obvious at first whiff, which leads me to draw one more Diptyque comparison: As I wear this, I get moments of it striking me as a very good cross between Tam Dao & Philosykos, & I mean that as the highest compliment possible. May have to get a FB... It's just SO pleasant & calming. Few people you come across would ever dislike this scent, & its soft creamy vibe makes it perfect as an "up-close-&-personal" fragrance. This would drive me nuts on my date, & I'm sure the reverse would be true as well. It's a scent you just want more of whether it's on you or someone else. Definitely give it a try.

This is absolutely incredible. So subtle and smooth that the ease of wear is next level. No animals musk here. Instead I detect a lot of synthetic musks. But here they are not annoying or cheap, they are used to perfection to create the effect of ambrette seed- which is a musk with many facets- sweet, clean, musky, herbal, dusty, and more. The sandalwood to my nose is dry and smooth but not necessarily creamy. The creaminess comes from the musks which create a fatty sensation that contrasts the woods dryness. What a genius perfume, taking the already adored raw material of sandalwood and placing it in a bed of the softest modern musks to create an idealized version of sandalwood. You know all the marketing for the molecule fragrances; it smells different on everyone, it changes smell, sometimes you smell it sometimes you don't, yada yada. Milky Musk is what we all wish these molecule fragrances could be; addictive, paradoxically subtle and present all at once, smooth, oh so smooth. No sweetness beyond the musky ambrette sweetness, which is subtle at most. This what I wear when I don't want to wear a perfume and yet if I do put it on I'll surely spend most my day with my wrist up to my nose. Really love it. 10/10 not a blindly though. It won't offend anyone but also it takes a specific type of person to go for such a "non-scent" scent.

It seems that there are some fragrances I am initially nose blind to, but on the second or third time trying it, my nose suddenly starts working, and all of a sudden I can smell it very strongly (and I do 3 sprays). It happened with Le Labo’s Another 13, Gaiac 10, JHAG etc. It must be the molecular dominant smells that seem to do this. This was the same for Milky Musk. This is a beautifully soft and creamy sandalwood lightly wrapped in fuzzy musk. It is minimalistic and also deeply comforting. It’s the type of scent you want to wear while wrapped up in a blanket with a hot drink in one hand and your favourite book in the other. Where as glossier you and JHAG didn’t quite do it for me, this seems to have hit the sweet spot. While it doesn’t overtake L’eau Papier as being the most comforting (and nostalgic) scent I own, I enjoy wearing this one a great deal. From initially barely being able to smell it, milky musk has now done a complete 180 in terms of performance. I get a moderate projection from it, still getting whiffs off it at the 8 hour mark before becoming a skin scent. I can still detect it on my skin at 12 hours when putting my nose to skin. But then again, I am someone who thinks Another 13 has a huge projection and lasts an eternity. So maybe it’s just my nose...

I really do love this fragrance. I find myself reaching for it more often than I realize sometimes because its so easy to wear. It's a relaxing & discreet scent that seems to go with anything & everything. This is a very soft & supple scent & the name suits itself fairly well. It's a creamy, warm & inviting milky sandalwood musk for sure. IMO, I find that the projection is minimal, more like a subtle scent to be enjoyed by the wearer. As with any scent when applied to the skin, the longevity greatly depends on the individual. My skin is like the Sahara Desert so application of certain fragrances that require your skin to react is a bit tricky. I do find this scent to be pretty predictable when applied to my clothes & the scent remains the same as whether on my skin or my clothes. It's longevity on my clothes is a good 10-12 hours. I don't see the similarities to Radio Bombay by D.S. & Durga hardly at all & only faintly in RB's dry down. However, I find that this Fragrance is very similar to Sunny Side Up by Juliette has a gun. To my nose & IMO, Sunny Side UP & Milky Musk, smell almost identical & I'm a little mystified that it hasn't been noticed by anyone before.

Such a beautiful, delicate and warm fragrance, I blind bought and wore this last around February time, and was almost completely anosmic to it. It was gorgeous for just a moment then - poof, gone. I still loved it despite feeling quite disappointed, and I expected it to be 'your skin but better' type of scent so I wasn't hoping for a knockout, but still, you know how it goes. A bit of blind buy regret, ugh. Today I used it for the first time since. I had a headache this morning and just wanted a little something, but not too much, so I chose what I considered my weakest performer, and sprayed once onto my top. Well, it's now gone past 8 hours later and I can still smell it, and have all day. It's quietly enveloped me in it's smoothness, and its clever simplicity and has soothed me with its presence. Just sublime. I think before I was overspraying and also too close to my face. I was definitely dousing myself in an attempt to make it last. Oh dear. Today's lessons learned - Less gives me much more, and I will continue to exclusively spray this on clothing from now on.

Pros: I agree with all of the positive comments thus far. In fact, this (nicely named) sandalwood and musk combo is tied with another from PMdP as my favorite. It is unisex, comforting, and quite “nice” in a modern way that is nondescript-yet-distinct ... if that makes sense. However, unlike many other modern scents, Milky Musk gets even better as it wears. It is not a powerhouse or sillage monster, and it doesn’t need to be. It is subtly present; with you; almost spiritual. Con: I also agree with the comments about the price, which is my main concern with anything I have sampled from this house. Nothing I have yet tried is worth it for me personally to spend full retail. That being said, I will admit that if I see a bottle of Milky Musk marked down a little bit – it will be easy for me take the plunge on this one. The experience this provides is quite good, bordering on the great.

I have recently been on a mission to sample lots of musky/milky skin scents in search of the perfect one. Milky Musk has to be in the top 5 I've smelled so far. I never really understood what people meant by "creamy" in a fragrance until I really smelled this one. It smells... white. Creamy, soft, comforting... it evokes warm fuzzies and makes you wanna close your eyes and take a deep breath. It's the equivalent to a warm blanket on a cold day. The overall composition reads as milky and even a tiny bit coconutty from a distance, but smell it up close and you get the most lovely sandalwood. I have smelled and used Santal 33 and this does not give "dill" to me at all - this scent is the opposite of a "dill" smelling sandalwood. I can't see how anyone wouldn't find this pleasant honestly. It's beautiful. 10/10 FB worthy!

I see why some people says this smells like pencil shavings. On me that’s the way it starts off - dry woody pencil shaving. However, after a few minutes this creamy muskiness comes out, with the fig making it just a little bit sweet. I’m not sure if it’ll perform as nicely in cold weather when my skin is drier (when i samples it, it was a very hot humid day) but I liked the creaminess enough to purchase a 50ml bottle. Update: totally in love with this scent. It’s so creamy and really just a scent that feels like “me”. I’ve only had the 50ml bottle for 2 or 3 weeks but already am about 1/4 done with it. Am going to buy the 100ml soon as a backup bc I never want to be without

I’m recovering from a mild dose of Covid which I picked up a couple of weeks ago, so my sense of smell is compromised. I ordered Milky Musk a few weeks back and it arrived today, interestingly packaged in a pouch encased in a tubular box. I got a soft musky sandalwood when I first sprayed it and if I try hard, I can sense a soft woody accord. Anyway, I had to run a couple of errands and was only out 30 minutes, but surprised how impactful this was to others. Two ladies followed me and asked me what I was wearing and told me it was beautiful. Sorry I can’t be more descriptive, my olfactory power is at quarter strength right now, but clearly this is a big compliment getter.

I love this fragrance, it’s become the one I find myself reaching for the most. Soft, milky and woody, so comforting. So far my favorite sandalwood. Could be used all year round. I detect the musk later in the drydown, softened by the creamy sandalwood. I also get some fig-like accord. I’m usually not a fan of fig in perfume (headache inducing) I couldn’t stand Gris Charnel for example, because of that. In this one however it manages to be so soft and quiet that I surprisingly find myself really liking it. The projection and longevity are excellent, it stays on sheets and clothes for days, even after washing! Beast mode on skin, 10 hours + Amazing.

lovers of JHAG, glossier you, molecule 01 and santal 33 look out!! milky musk is so straightforward but soooo good. on me, it reads like a very creamy yet spiced sandalwood-musk. nothing crazy, but the way it develops on the skin is beautiful, but the lasting power is really nowhere to be seen:( the soft spiciness of the sandalwood is almost reminiscent of a pink pepper note, which is why i think it would be great for those who like glossier you. katy perry's indi is a similar, slightly sweeter profile, maybe a bit more powdery. overall, milky musk is such a great soft woody work scent, nothing out of this world but very well-blended and versatile!

Effortless, minimalist, comforting, introverted. A dry, toasted wood opening softens and turns creamy. It’s like you’re in a log cabin on a rainy day, there’s a big stack of freshly split wood, you just started to heat the sugar to make caramel but it hasn’t taken on any color just yet, and you have your butter and cream ready to add on the side. This scent is very transparent, cozy, and comforting. Woods can go heavy, but this sandalwood is light as air. This fragrance is very personal and intimate, not loud in any way. I don’t get musk, or it’s the cleanest musk I’ve ever smelled and honestly that’s the only way I do enjoy musk. This is lovely.

To me, this is pure quiet luxury in perfume form: beautifully made, softly noticeable, never in your face, yet present enough to leave an impression. It has a slightly sweet, musky character, with a delightful airy milkiness or creaminess floating over it. There is also a subtle touch of waxy vanilla, but without tipping into scented-candle territory. This is what I imagine men would wear at The Aston, or women at the bar at The Savoy or Claridge’s: polished, understated, expensive without trying too hard. The dry-down is a very soft musk, with a tiny hint of sweet wood and a slightly powdery finish. It fades after around some four hours.

First sniff and I'm taken back to when I was 7 years-old and got to open a brand new set of 36 Faber-Castell coloring pencils. I remember almost nothing smelled better at that time: the smooth wood, the beautiful colors. If only I was munching on a coconut macaroon while drawing, that would have been the most perfect representation of this fragrance. Milky Musk can be deceiving: you might take it for a quiet, "your skin but better" scent, but it will stick around. Spray it at night for a cocooning, enveloping, calming experience and you'll still be able smell it the next day. Timeless, unisex, signature-worthy perfume.

I absolutely love this fragrance. The name fits perfectly in my opinion, but only on the opening and mid. Once it dries down the silkiness settles and it becomes musky but it's still a beautiful musk. The reason why I felt like reviewing this fragrance is because I wore it to work and I felt like it was a bit too much for a work environment. It's odd because I've worn "heavier" fragrances to work but there is something about milky musk that I felt like it was too much. This fragrance should be enjoyed in an open environment but nevertheless it's a beautiful fragrance.

A whisper of sandalwood, creamy musk and milk. Milky musk has that creamy sandalwood in Piano Santal, Santal Dān Shā and Santal Blush. However, this sticks so closely to the skin that it just smells like a second skin scent. It’s a little spicy, but for the majority, it’s a sweetened (I get that lactonic quality), musk-infused sandalwood. It’s ultra smooth, cocooning and comforting. It doesn’t have great sillage or longevity on skin. However, I’ve sprayed it on a card in my room and its lasted for weeks on end.

*the note breakdown is missing the fig which is very prominent note This is an ultra creamy and milky sandalwood with fluffy soft musks and a coconutty fig. The fig has its leaves on in the opening with a subtle greenness but as the scent develops, coconutty nuisances envelop the fruit. The sandalwood here is milky, creamy, soft and smooth, with the musks fully painting a picture of fluffy clouds and cashmere blankets. This is a perfect balance of simple notes and a scent that feels hard to critique.

Someone said tam dao is more meditative and thought-provoking, and I totally agree. Milky musk is like tam dao's simple, cuddly twin. At first I thought it was a bit too 'milky' for my taste, because I liked the forest touch of tam dao a little more. Then I worn this around one of my friends a couple times. I got into her car and immediately she told me I smelled like a sexy pine tree. I reevaluated after her comment, now I'm saving up for a full bottle :) It makes me feel so warm and cuddly!

After I fell in love with and bought Bottega Veneta I thought I was done looking. Don't I just then get a sample pack in the mail that I forgot I ordered that had this in it. Unique, milky, unobtrusive, cuddly and very slightly woody. I get sandalwood from this and a little bit of musk. Definite milkiness too. A slight sweetness but the kind you get from the breath of a child after they've eaten some homemade chocolate chip cookies and milk. Its a cozy adorable delight without being cute.

Perhaps the best new fragrance I've smelled for years! I love the sandalwood and the creaminess, it's like a warm, soft blanket. Works everywhere and in any weather (in a colder climate), and it's safe for office too. I can smell it on my skin for the whole day, but it's not loud, so maybe not for someone looking for a bold fragrance. I have a very sensitive nose, so for me this is just perfect for daily use. My favourite of their scents so far, amongst Gardens of India and Papyrus Oud.

Very calming, beautiful scent. Reminds me of rainy days reading books by the window with a hot beverage. The notes listed seem sparse. I can smell the fig, but it's not listed. It starts off with a green woodiness that softens into a cocooning sandalwood and musk scent. I wouldn't call the sandalwood creamy - maybe it's just me but I'm not getting the coconut scent - but it definitely soft with a hint of sweetness while maintaining a clean woody scent. Love it.

Milky Musk is absolutely creamy and cozy. I appreciate the simplicity of this scent and how effortlessly it can be worn for any occasion. Many compliments and inquiries I receive when wearing it. No one I have come across thinks this scent is obnoxious nor cloying. It does fade into your skin after a couple of hours but it stays on clothes longer. It is a gorgeous scent that I plan to keep always in my collection. My opinion

Really surprised that summer has the lowest number of votes on this. Summers where I live can be very hot and humid and this gorgeous, simple scent is a star performer. The hotter it gets the longer it lasts and the more beautiful it smells, staying creamy and natural, never cloying. I'll give it a go when the cold dry winter rolls around but I imagine this could get a little lost in chiller weather, at least on me.

I am slightly obsessed with my sample. Comforting, creamy, and surprisingly long-lasting for such a light and simple scent. I can imagine this being perfect for Autumn months. I can't quite justify a full bottle for myself as it is above my price range for a scent that I would probably mostly use for layering. Definitely a great choice for when you want a low-key woody scent to envelop you in a blanket of comfort!

This is a Fragrance of Effortless Lightness. It has become my favourite scent since I found it. There's no situation or season that it doesn't suit, and there are few situations where someone doesn't compliment it. I haven't even finished the first bottle yet, but feared has come upon me from the lack of, so I'm going to order the second bottle. It just makes me feel good all the time.

This is a simple perfume; sandalwood and musk, which I enjoy. Smells nice and is easy to wear. It's good but feels kinda basic. Minimalistic but not intriguinly so, as some molecular fragrances can be. Edit: Really growing on me after wearing it a couple of times. The sandalwood is very sharp, pulls fresh and woody on me but I don't get any milkyness.

I love it. On my skin it smells like Memo Paris Quartier Latin, which I also love deeply. I cannot wear musky perfumes, normally, cause they go super animalic on my skin, but this one is a wonderful exception. No wet cat anywhere. Creamy, mild sandalwood, even vanilla. The sophisticated smell of old books and sugared milk tea.

Cedar, sandalwood and a musky vanilla. I am no a vanilla girl but it works perfectly in this perfume. I know the notes don't mention vanilla but trust me, she's definitely there on the dry down. It's simple but still unique and warm. Definitely stays close to the skin but I can smell it for 6 hours. I love it.

A skin scent in every sense - moderate and polite in reach, and so enmeshed with the scent of actual skin that it's almost indistinguishable at times. Skin 2.0. Like a heartbeat or a muffled bass drum, it's linear, but supports a greater rhythm. Coconut cream, moist fig and milky sweet sandalwood. Love.

Just as you'd expect. Milky, creamy goodness with musky, slightly spiced undertones. I can't seem to pick the fig on my skin. This is delicate and more of a skin scent, definitely not a loud screamer. It's comforting to the core. I can imagine wearing this on a bad day, like a soothing, friendly secret.

Absolutely gorgeous subtle scent. Reminds me a lot of Santal Carmin by Atelier Cologne, with just a small hint of fig in the opening and a little less present. Santal Carmin can be pretty present/in your face at first. This is more transparent, but in the best way possible.

This is such a gorgeous, addicting scent. Creamy, milky sandalwood. I was given a sample of MM when I ordered another perfume from Lucky Scent, and upon first sniff I knew it would be my new signature scent. This perfume is everything I’ve been missing in my life.

Exactly as the notes are described. Sandalwood and musk. There is something nostalgic about this smell to me. Like a cedar closet but make it sandalwood? It’s a comforting scent and very woody. I love it. I if you are a sandalwood lover, this is it.

An effortless, sweet, skin-like scent, yet it’s more than that. I always thought it was silly when someone put on perfume to go to sleep, but I’ve actually worn this one to bed because it felt so good to smell it, even in the middle of the night.

Feels soft and elegant--like wearing a cashmere sweater. Not too woody, just warm and cozy. Very much a skin scent, I can't smell it well on myself after a couple hours. One of my fave "your skin but better" scents--I really want a full bottle!

Milky Musk makes me drool! I want to drink this sandalwood-infused double cream so badly. Not office friendly, for the simple reason that you'll be sniffing your wrist and groaning every five minutes. Milky Musk should be X-rated.

Stunning, smooth, slightly sweet skin scent. Sandalwood at its graceful best. I do detect a little fig and coconut, bringing to mind a softer, less green Philosykos. Wafts of cedar in the background. Milky Musk is perfect name.

So comforting and easy, however I’ve gone through half of my bottle since receiving it one month ago. Too pricey for such a simple profile (quality being acknowledged) with the longevity of a body spray. Recommendations?

This is so good. It is so creamy and addictive and reminds me of Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen. You have to get past the strong initial blast; the dry-down is where it's at. In my opinion this is ideal for spring or summer

close to the skin, simple clean and delicious. Straight musk and sandalwood- feels like if rays of sun were made of something bittersweet and tangible. Love that it's not overwhelming in one direction or the other.

Sweet transcendental wood. Milky Musk appears at first to play a simple tune but emerges as a sublime, dreamlike concerto. The genius of Michel Almairac in a most worthy and versatile signature fragrance.

I dislike how strong the I Eso Super is in the opening, but the dry down is beautiful milky cedar musk. I prefer to layer it with Cloud actually for a little sweetness and more femininity.

It’s like putting your nose into dry wood chips. Amazing! No dill in sight. Smells nothing like Sunny side up or Nothing but sea and sky, this is so much better and more natural smelling.
