Gold Edition

I wasn't going to bother leaving a review, but then i noticed it only had 2, both of which i disagree with in some way, so i thought i would add my bit, so it may help someone else like me, who is considering buying this fragrance! I to find it fairly similar to Black Orchid, but by no means a dupe, so as i love Black Orchid i loved this from the first sniff! If you are worried about oud in this, by what the one person said, please don't be it is non existent, i do not like strong oud fragrances, but i can not smell any in here, and as noted there is none listed lol The other reviewer mentioned the booze being really strong, sorry don't get that either, no booze, again probably because none listed,lol i just get a dark sexy mysterious fragrance very similar to Black Orchid, but not quite as smooth! Finally i do need to stress what i disagree with the most with both of them, is saying this fragrance is strong, overpowering cloying even, i wish! I am an over sprayer as my skin eats fragrance anyway, and i put 20 sprays of this crap on and i could not smell it after 20 minutes, neither could my partner, neither could couple of my friends! So as much as it smells great in my opinion, the silage and longevity is non existent, but it was so cheap, worth a shot, if you have better skin than me i guess lol Just wanted to give you a heads up!

I've been trying out Oud based scents recently, and discovered to my disappointment this one was a total no - no! I thought this might be the sweet feminine version to Morabito Gold Edition Oud. I loved the notes in the description, chocolate, truffle, (yes please), added to patchouli and vanilla etc- and I was imagining something cosy, dark and warm and sweet. Considering a past favourite of mine had been Valentino Uomo, I thought this would be right up my street. I found this so heavy, and oddly greasy, (the truffle note?) and headache inducing. I didn't get the boozy kick the previous reviewer described either, sadly- (I would have been up for that.) It really clung strong and close to my skin. After just a couple of hours I had to shower it off. This was way too over baring for me. Though I love catching a waft of oud on others, I'm beginning to think Oud scents are just not for me.

Talk about booze in a bottle! As to the bottle, it is so OTT kitsch that it becomes impressive. Gold is what you asked for and gold is what you get. The cap is rather wonky plastic (albeit with nice faceting) but the bottle itself is sturdy and quite heavy. Also: PM is releasing one scent after the other, many falling into obscurity. However, Rose de Nagada and Sultan Or are strong likes, the prices are low, so I gave this a try, going bold and blind buying it in 100ml. Now to the booze (almost litt.). This is one grog powerkick and the closest to getting you drunk without drinking alcohol. Old rum, coke (think of Cuba Libre with 15yo habana club gran reserva, or even Stroh rum without the frangipane). Really sweet and (close to) cloying (to be expected when bringing together patch, vanilla, dark chocolate in the base, just narrowly set off a trifle by the vetiver, and cassis and ylang-ylang in the top). The truffle is not noticeably there; down further, the lotus is discernible, as are the fruity notes. Upon dry down most present notes are vanilla, dark (and more prominently bitter) chocolate, zesty bergamot and cassis. Not unpleasant! I am not a gourmand lover per se, and I would have ran from this if it had almonds or cinnamon or caramel on top. That would be lethal. But if you want a very bold gourmand which is not the traditional and rather omnipresent Angel/HP, this might be worth trying out. Mind you, it will probably knock you out of your socks when spraying, but given the price, it won't be too hurtful if it is ending up not being your cup of grog after all.
