Gold Edition Oud

My friends, you've found it. This is, in my humble opinion, the holy grail of "cheap but good" fragrance. I picked up a bottle of this for $19 from a discounter. You never know with western oud perfumes, but for $19, I said what the hell. I expected maybe it would be your typical incense kind of smokey oud with a heavy rose note, maybe it would be good, maybe it would be ok. What I did not expect was for this to be one of my favorite bottles in my entire collection! To my nose, the rose doesn't come up right away, but rather a more amber, woody, warm spicy top, and a little bit of maybe an apricot note. Whatever it is, it's lovely. After a short while the sandalwood becomes apparent and what I could describe as oud, along with incense and a slight saffron. It's a very French composition, a little sweet, a little spicy, a little bit heavy, but masterfully blended and just beautiful. Performance is great and I consistently smell it for many hours after application. It's bright enough to wear in hot or cold weather which is an added bonus. It appears this may have been discontinued by the manufacturer, so I will be buying two more bottles, because this is something I am sure will get a lot of wear.

This is really good, be aware that in the dry down it has the feeling of anemalic honey/piss combo which is excellent BUT, BUT if you haven't tried something similar you could be tured off. I would (blind) buy this if I was getting into anemalic fragrances because it's tame anemalic, it has the vibe of Kouros without the overwhelming piss note, just a little pissy and unlike kouros it's enjoyable. The oud in here is weird and smells to me more like civet (anemalic-pissy) but not fecal at all. On the opening, if you're drunk, but you could maybe mistake this as a unisex frag, but not more then 30min later the anemalics start to rise and it becomes as masculine as kouros. Be aware this is not for females or for younger playful men/boys. Old school oriental aromatic fougere (niche scent profile, unique). If you like the idea of anemalic floral fragrance then buy this

Bargain find at TKMAXX! This shines! Everything is in perfect balance - the rose is bright, the saffron is a condiment and I get leather with a tiny bit of animalic oud in the base. This cheers me up like a sunshine piercing through clouds and I feel lifted and happy when I wear it. Quite versatile too as it works well with 3 a sprays and sings it's heart out if you overspraying. Today I am wearing 3 sprays on the top of each forearm, 3 sprays under, 5 sprays around my neck and one one my chest. It's so refreshing to have an oud/rose/saffron perfume where the saffron slays everything. I'm not a rich man and I drive a Peugeot 107 but wearing this makes me like a millionaire driving a drop top Bentley. Absolutely my summer fragrance of the year so far!

Really solid. I bought it kinda accidently whilst looking for something else in a fragrance store And.... it is really nice. It was cheap but smells much more expensive It's long lasting. Stays for good 5-7 hours on skin and few days on clothes To me it smells unisex. Sometimes reminds me of some perfumes my Grandma used to wear in late 80s but in a good way. If you like oud and rose but not too strong funky version of it, then easily go for this one I do not regret buying it for a moment

To me it’s an instant love. Oud plus incense can be harsh and head-aching for some people, but here they smell bold without being aggressive. I love how refined this perfume is. I can smell the rose and saffron in the background, and the sandalwood is definitely the one balancing all the components, adding lil soapy and creamy aspects without cutting down its smokiness. The tacky gold flacon is forgiven because of what inside.

I'd love to smell this on a hunky man..... Its very particular, an excellent OUD with nice spice, tobacco and some insistent warm patchouli. Very masculine ROOAAAARR! You could spend 300 Euros to get the same effect from Dior. No need.. this is a great fragrance with lasting effect.

Instant like. The oud and floral notes perfectly balanced. Excellent value. Tried another designer oud fragrance which cost 20 times more but prefer this. Bottle is very striking and eye-catching and like the clean lines of the cuboid shape.

Dirty stanky oud in a tacky gold bottle. I love it. I wore this every day for a year in my first year of university and everyone probably thought I smelled horrendous. It’s brilliant, buy it just because it’s strange.

For the price its great. Its pure incense with a bit of smokiness. It sticks to the skin and it seems to be lasting. We will see how it performs.

If someone knows how Chanel Egoiste smells like, this is very simmilar to that but less woody

I blind-purchased this after reading other reviews here. I'm on a journey to love oud, this was a step in the right direction. It's overwhelmingly a rose fragrance but it's obvious that this is still in the oud family with a subtle warmth that attempts to balance out the rose. It might be due to my own associations of rose but this fragrance does smell very mature, it is grandmother's bathroom cabinet in a bottle. If I suspend this association the rose is such a luxurious and classic fragrance that it is very wearable, leaning towards fall and winter nights. I wish the other notes were more present to balance out the rose. A little more spice would have made this a true unisex fragrance, a little more wood would've made this feel a little more sultry. As it is, it's a pleasant fragrance but nothing incredible! Very fairly priced for how long it lasts, the bottle looks nice in a collection, and it is a very nice example of a rose and oud fragrance.

That is a very elegant, rose-saffron-vanillic-oudy oriental, one of the most tipical styled nowadays. A very nice character, but be warned, it's strong like hell! Just few molecule and stop it. I think it's more feminin and rather for formal-evening occasions. Accordingly of my GF, it is absolutely for clubbing and for party, to the younger crowds, due it is violently and striking enough to it - Everyone has its own reality... For sure, could it be annoying If it overapplied. Very impressing and not a safe blind buy, just for oriental-fans!

For the price, it's CRAZY how strong and long-lasting this stuff is. A scent that will have a special place in your memory even if you won't use it that often. A scent that you can show to your friends as a curiosity. DO NOT overspray as you will reek for the entire day. Recommend if you are oudh type of person.

Now I get that "burnt rubber" smell! The saffron and patchouli really make the oud interesting. I don't get any rose - might be translated to saffron from my nose. I consider Oud Gold Edition as the male version of Agent Provocateur's original perfume, with less sweetness and powderiness, more oud-yness.

Very powerful strong long lasting warm unisex oud-patchouli- santalwood-saffron-rose-spices fragrance.very specific and unic scent of Pascal Morabito. Oud gold edition stays on my skin 3-4 days even it is washed by soapy water...close to Dior Oud Ispahan

Bought 100ml for £8.99 from The Perfume Shop. I love the bottle. Solid, chunky, very golden. I've used this a lot - it somehow appeals to me, yet confuses me, and to an extent repels me. The initial impact is rose. Big Damask rose. Rather traditional, almost shockingly old-fashioned rose. The sort of rose your grandmother would use to scent her knickers drawer. There is a long period of adjustment to the fact that a scent called Oud, contains so little in the way of wood or musk or sexy sweetness, yet so much in the way of rose. As a balancer to that initial rose, there is some tobacco. That tobacco holds the rose in place so that it's not completely offensive. And there is some interest there. It is the tobacco balance that has piqued my curiosity, and insists on me returning to this scent again and again. As the initial rose settles down and starts to fade, there is some mild woody musk that emerges. But it is mild. It's not really a passionate or sexy musk. It's fairly neutral. Fairly clean. But, again, as with that rose-tobacco complex at the start, there is something appealing. Not quite seductive, but hovering in that area. It's a decent value everyday scent. Intense hit at first, but settles down to something more subtle. It's kinda neutral, though with the weight of the rose, I would edge this more toward the feminine. A confident, slightly masculine, mature female. Not sporty. Perhaps someone into literature. An Oxford don. I am currently using it as a spray for our bedding. It works well at keeping the sheets and pillows fresh, attractive, and gently seductive.

Great value for what it is. I recommend if your starting out with getting familiar with niche style oud and rose combos this is a cheap way to go. I don't feel like you would be ready for something like this If your used to let say 80/90s designer fragrances. This is the new modern take of today's scents. And they are very very different. However smelling similar scents over time you will actually find scents like these very appealing. This has been my hobby now for 7 yrs and before I started I had some designer perfumes on my vanity from my childhood like samsara, anais anais, poison,bouchron etc.. Like 6 bottles. Had no idea what niche was or oud. I can't promise you'll ever love this but with time your nose might come around. Good luck .buy something in this price range before you shell out hundreds of dollars on an oud rose combo. See what you think. My daughter in her 20s does not care for these types of scents she smells tar and gasoline and burnt rubber maybe in the beginning of my journey I felt the same , now there not that bad. This is very comforting to middle eastern ppl very nostalgic to them. Ive never been to spice market or smelled authentic oud " very pricey" liquid gold they call it. But i have an open mind and would love to experience all the scents.good luck and god bless!

It's alright. Dead cheap. But I'd wear this to a wedding and the bottle makes it look way more expensive than it really is. Surprisingly sweet and more feminine floral than woody.

Definitely something happened to my bottle because this is my fourth time spraying it in the hideous top note that lasts for a gruelling half hour is suddenly gone and I just got a shadow of Oud Ispahan. This shadow is very similar to the object creating it though. It’s a nice shadow! But I don’t believe in dupes. Once you smelt the real thing, this will leave you craving for more. You won’t be satisfied. Safe blind buy if you like Oud and haven’t smelled the original Oud ispahan though! Because it’s one of my favourite smells I’m so happy to have a spray EDP for clothing sheets and my pillow at night for a kicker of a price omg. Especially cause there’s no matching candle from the house of Dior. Now I don’t have to feel guilty that I’m burning money if I do 15 sprays all around my house. And it won’t be overpowering either like the real thing. Just the shadow of one of my favourite smells. If this use of the perfume speaks to you, totally safe blind buy then too! P.s.: Oud touch by Franck Olivier is disgusting. Don’t let anyone tell you anything else. You could never use it as a room spray because of the horrendous vomit-inducing top notes. This dupe actually has an Oud note in it so it is much much much better. But still not as good of a dupe as Oud Ispahan by Privee Couture Collection (best cheap dupe IMO other than Oud Palao from which is another niche expensive perfume). Gonna use this like I use Tea Rose from Perfumer’s Workshop. As a room freshener. It’s dirt cheap and smells great besides the price. Performs great too. Recap: - Buy Oud Palao by Diptyque if you don’t have access to Oud Ispahan where you live and have cash to burn - Buy Oud Ispahan from PCC if you want a dupe that’ll project and perform on skin - Buy this perfume if you’d like a spray version of Oud Ispahan for your linens and home or as aromatherapy - Never buy Oud Touch Franck Olivier

Gold Edition Oud. It looks cheap and tacky, and that's exactly how it smells. I quite like that about it; it knows that it has an aroma that is akin to some unwashed knickers taken from a busy prostitute, and it happily owns that about itself. The oud in this is like vinegar; it is acerbic, far too overpowering, sour and very clumsily used. The oud is so wildly intense, that it obliterates anything else that tries to make itself known in the profile. I bought this as a complete blind buy. Oud is something that can smell really magical, and is often one of my favorite scents, but Gold Edition Oud has all the magic of a washed up children's entertainer, who still thinks it's 1976, when their career was in full swing and pinching people's bums was acceptable practice. The price of this honking barker's egg should have set my alarm bells ringing, same goes for the plastic, tacky "gold bar" bottle. I just had to smell it, just in case it was a bobby dazzler in disguise. I suppose you could call this behaviour an addiction? I simply can't help myself, when I see perfume concepts for hardly any penny pounds, that I am yet to smell. I have previously found fragrances in this way, which have gone on to be stalwarts of my collection, so my "free and easy" strategy often yields good results. But, Gold Edition Oud is unfortunately worth exactly what I paid for it, and it was not a lot at all. I've paid more for a bag of sweeties. 2/10. I like it's unashamedly cheap personality, but I will only ever wear this if someone forces me at gunpoint to do so.

---- UNDERSTATED OLFACTORY MASTERPIECE ---- You never stop smelling this! This is so bloody good. Just like the below reviewer; konchokjenpa's comments. Longevity 6-7 hours, decent projection. But not a grenade. In this type of scent, that's a good thing. 7 hours onwards; as a skin-scent++ ..... eternal! If you're going to be wearing a different frag the following day......you have to scrub this one off....normal showering doesn't shift it. This is a compliment to it's 48hour longevity! And the price? Heaven's accountant made one hell of an error in every mortal's favor! This espouses classic frag development phases. The opening has a red-licorice, cough syrupy, quite unpleasant smell, & a brief flash of sweaty, BO skank, but then the magic starts. Less then 10 minutes is all you have to endure of this sickliness. Then the best way I can describe the development is with sounds & tactility. After 30minutes, I'm getting a hollow slightly echoing "feel'. Like opening a parquetry box. Different woods, skillfully put together. It's empty & you can put your hand inside freely....but what was originally in there? Turkish delight confectionary? Vials of rose oil? Peppercorns? Saffron? Sandalwood soaps & balm? Other perfumes unknown? Opening & closing the lid is effortless, & inadvertently wafts up more of those smells. The outside is smooth & beautifully finished. The inside is clean & smoothly sanded, but unsealed. After 1hour, I get the feel of unlocking & entering a timber holiday home. Not deeply & rustically ensconced in the mountains, but in an open forest, lower hills, grasslands. Timber floors, solid handmade bar. The slight & lingering smell of cut flowers, left there from last visit, now dried; a happenstance potpourri. It's cool enough to light the fire, but it's not winter, just a nip in the air; autumn or spring...can't really tell,,,more spring...rose notes say this. There's not much furniture...don't need it, it's a holiday home after all. Putting a record on the turntable that got retired there. Sounds great with the minimal lack of clutter A mild & magic echo. 3 hours onwards; I'd forgotten how good wood-smoke smelled. Now what will I have to drink. This is "WAX-LYRICAL" in a bottle. Too much metaphor.......,so I'll stop here.

I found a bottle of Pascal Morabito Gold Edition Oud for Men on FragranceX after reading about it here on Fragrantica. There's not a lot of information out there either about the man himself or his perfumes, despite the fact that this house has been releasing fragrances since 1980 and has put out new offerings as recently as late 2020. One of these 2020 releases, Sultan Noir, is getting a lot of positive reviews. Curiouser and curiouser that it took me so long to find out about this brand. It's clear from the notes that Pascal Morabito Gold Edition Oud is a Dior Oud Ispahan clone. There's only one divergence, the absence of the labdanum found at the top of Oud Ispahan and the addition of an incense note. (Also, be aware that there are sellers out there, including FragranceX, listing incorrect notes for this and that Fragrantica, unlike many others, is accurate.) In the air the similarity of the two fragrances is obvious. If you put your nose to skin, Gold Edition Oud is what you expect for the price you pay: less depth and inferior quality. I love to put my nose to skin and enjoy Oud Ispahan up close, and every stage is intoxicating from the initial spray to dry-down. Not this however. It's decent up close but the initial blast is harsh and the rose is not rendered as well. There's slightly less of the animalic / musky / leather facet which is probably the labdanum. They nailed the patchouli though: it has the same granular, tactile feel I get from Dior. I apply this liberally and it gives me a rough but enjoyable impression of the latest Oud Ispahan reformulation, which as you probably know is not what Oud Ispahan used to be. Gold Edition Oud is best enjoyed from a slight distance, and from this slight distance it does feel like the real thing. I recommend this to people who enjoy Oud Ispahan but who don't feel it's worth the retail price in its current formulation.

Somehow the combination of notes makes this a jammy rose for me over the smoky, somewhat dirty undertone, and it's absolutely delightful. I was not expecting a rose jam kind of delicacy. At first sniff it's in Memoir Woman territory (which in turn brings Poison to mind). Absolutely great. I haven't had the pleasure to Oud Ispahan yet, but now I understand why it's supposed to be such a great deal. If it smells similar, it deserves the praise.

Smells like underpass where people frequently pee at night & there is a Persian / Indian shop somewhere nearby that lights up those aroma sticks they use all the time. Absolute abomination. The bottle & its design feel really cheap. I only paid 15 Euro for it .. not much of a loss .. but still .. I wish I could get my money back for this blind buy. Do yourself a favor & go for Sultan Noir by the same designer if you must. Much, much better.

Very good for the price you pay. Opening is slightly harsh, but the dry down is so good. It reminds me of Oud Ispahan and YSL Kouros... It is definitely animalic and has that Kouros "pee" note, but there is something quite addictive about it! Performance is around 6 hours.

I tried this today and was taken aback of how similar it is to Oud Ispahan by Dior, only sweeter in the drydown. It projects really well and lasts quite well. You Can get PM perfumes for about 13-15 euros in discount stores and online. Believe me, they are quite good!

there is a funky urine smell on skin in drydown of this..i tested on 4 people and same thing and it was gross and ruins it.
