Or Boreal

Absolutely love this perfume! Was a like for the first 30 mins but after top notes went into mid - my like turned into love. What does it smell like? Well, if you'd mix Jean Paul Gaultier "Classique" with Thierry Mugler "Alien", you'd get "Or Boreal". Yet it is softer and more feminine than those two and even though I don't even like Jean Paul nor Alien I really like this one. I spray ( top notes are ok but not my favorite) and after 30 mins or so middle notes kick in and this is when I start loving the fragrance and keep smelling my arm! I have many beautiful fragrances and many of them are much more expensive ( usually I wear Samsara or Dolce Vita) but I really love this fragrance as well. In the dry down ( after 12 hours or so) I can smell musk, which I don't like ( I don't like musk in any fragrance) but for those beautiful middle notes I am willing to tolerate even musk! It doesn't have as strong silage and projection as Pure Perle ( which I also own), as 1 spray of Pure Perle fills the room and you can smell it 2-3 meters away and also, on clothing it stays for 24h plus, but Or Boreal still has a good projection and good silage, which after around 4-6 hours turns into the skin scent. Goes into my top 10 fragrances ( and I own over 50 fragrances) and I will definitely buy it again.

This starts out a little sour on my skin. I wonder if it's the mixing in of freesia, I don't get along with that note very often. Luckily, that smell dissipates and I'm left with a beautiful, mildly powdery vanilla. Because I'm a huge lover of perfumes such as Le Bain, Satine, La Mia La Perla, Pi, and Casmir, this was a must. I mainly get the tonka beans, heliotrope, vanilla, and sandalwood. I don't get much patchouli. I find there to be moderate sillage and longevity and I'd wear it all year round, so it's really versatile. Plus it was inexpensive. What a sweet, but not too sweet, pretty fragrance!

Buttery take on Mon Guerlain, the notes are so smooth and inviting; tonka, vanilla, and heliotrope are the standouts to me. Has an airiness but it's not fleeting in the least, sticks to the skin and creates a beautiful aura that lasts for at least 10+ hrs. Perfect all year round, this shines in heat and cold.

Another LUSCIOUS, high quality fragrance from PM! The warm, fuzzy tonka combined with the almondine note of heliotrope and creamy sandalwood is thoroughly lush, plush, sultry yet classy. The longevity is out of this world. PM is a hidden treasure trove.

This is fabulous, so rich and luscious and intoxicating with a delicious interplay of fragrance notes that are like a rhapsody. This Perfume has the feel good factor! Amazing value.

This is a soft and lovely fragrance. IMO, All of Pasqual Morabito's perfumes have the best dry down. Designed by Nathalie Lorson, you can't go wrong. The price point is great!

My little boys chipped in to buy me this as a Mother’s Day gift (with a little help from Dad...), since they know how obsessed Mum is with perfume. Beyond this extremely sweet gift, Or Boréal is a pleasant surprise; it does indeed bear a strong resemblance to Mon Guerlain. You find that same powdery vanilla, slightly floral and aromatic. On the dry-down, it does become a bit different - slightly woodier, a little less "romantic" - but the two remain quite close overall, and I think that if you like one, there is a good chance you will like the other. The only issue is its weak longevity and lack of sillage. I suppose, given the price, you can afford to reapply it throughout the day, but it is still a bit of a shame. For a better dupe of Mon Guerlain with much better performance, I personally prefer Guess Seductive Noir.

This is a very nice, bright, clean scent. If you want something simple and inoffensive for a day out, I'd say this definitely fits the bill. It reminds me of laundry detergent in a very positive way, but due to that, I personally don't think it's worth buying. There are too many clean, simple laundry detergent scents for me to splurge on one that doesn't stand out. As for how it compares to Mon Guerlain, I smelled this side by side with Mon Guerlain, and although they have the same brightness, this doesn't have the same sweetness or the same depth that MG has. It's much simpler, much cleaner and fresher, and much less rich. I'd honestly compare it more to La Rive Pearl than MG, and the former is less than $10. Not a bad scent though by any means.

Bought from The Perfume Shop for £9.99, this is a great value incense. I love the chunky "gold" plated glass bottle. It's marketed as a female perfume, though I'm happy to wear it. I get amber, incense, and rose, with a delicate opaque shimmering net of vanilla over it all. For me there is enough musk at the base to hold the floral notes in check, and make it more unisex than girly. I'm happy to wear this at any time. It feels clean, sexy, and attractive. And it makes me feel clean, sexy, and attractive. I like that there isn't a strong character to it, so it can be layered with other scents, and also allows my own personality to come through. So I don't think people will go - "Ah, he's wearing Pascal Morabito", they'll just think I smell nice.

A nice warm scent, but so weak straight from the box. I'll let it macerate for a month or so, and then update this post. Update: After a month it's now much stronger, and the notes are coming through clearer. It's definitely related to MG, even up to the liquorice note. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to have any lavender (I seriously dislike that note!) It has the Pascal Morabito DNA. All in all, a pleasant warm scent and slightly sweet.

For such an inexpensive perfume it really holds it's own! A very nice vanilla scent without being syrupy sweet. Quite impressed with this one actually. The downside is: The gold metal on the bottle is just glued on and falls right off. Grab it if you love vanilla. You can't go wrong for the price and it's got nice lasting power which even some of the high end ones don't have.

this starts with pretty florals, tonka, bergamot and vanilla with a hint of spiciness. i get a soft woodiness and the florals are understated but very pretty in this. something begins to lean almost chocolaty. this is super cozy and i am glad i got this.

A blind buy, based on good reviews (I was actually looking for Or Noir), Or Boreal is pretty and cozy, but it's kind of boring. I guess I like my tonkas & vanillas to have more going on than seems to be happening in Or Boreal, which is just sweet and comforting -- not that there's anything wrong with that; it just doesn't "sing" to me like other tonka/vanillas that I DO love [Cue long list]: Lalique Le Parfum with its bay, Mon Guerlain and Guess Seductive Noir with their lavender, Guerlain Angelique Noir with its angelica, Dior Addict with its greenness, Lanvin Tocade with its rose, Guerlain L'Instant with its magnolia, or Derek Lam 10 Crosby Something Wild and Banana Republic Tobacco & Tonka with its tobacco. And, funnily enough, the plain & simple vanilla -- practically a kitchen vanilla -- Body Fantasies Vanilla. Like I said, to my nose, Or Boreal is definitely good, just not great because I need more prominent floral or aromatic notes with my tonka/vanillas. Incidentally, it does not have strong projection (not a bad thing), but it also does not have good longevity, at least on my skin, lasting maybe 3 hours before becoming a skin scent. Overall, nice but a little disappointing.

Or Boreal was a blind buy for me in springtime. I bought it because of two very successful blind buys I made from this house/line earlier that I really love. I sniffed OB briefly after purchasing it, and decided it would not suit my taste during the warmer seasons. It's now early autumn, and I applied three generous sprays to my left arm for the first time today. Whew! This is not for me! I gave it ten minutes to settle down, and I just can't take it. I scrubbed it off the best I could. It's now 45 minutes later and it smells almost as strong as before I washed my arm. So I guess OB scores points for projecting scent. I'm still relatively new to collecting fragrances. Between the spring season and now, I've identified an accord that is highly distasteful to my nose: citrus + jasmine + wood. Unfortunately, OB includes what I believe may be a very common variant of this accord: bergamot + jasmine + sandalwood. If I'd waited a few months before purchasing this, I would have been able to tell it might not work for me based on the notes. Live and learn... This is a no go for me! Bummer. 🦋🧡🦋

At the beginning is like Guess Seductive Noir/aromatic vanilla as there is a vetiver in it/, but in the dry down is similar to Satine Lalique/also aromatic vanilla, but more creamy/, but a little bit, not the same, just reminds of it. Satine is more luxurious smell.

I bought this Pascal Morabito fragrance in an online outlet for less than 10 euros. It seemed like a great deal to me since its perfumer is Nathalie Lorson, creator of many fragrances that I enjoy. And Or Boreal is now counted among them. It is basically a powdery vanilla with many nuances, beautiful, easy to wear, versatile and very feminine, a very pleasant aroma for day to day. As a curiosity, I will tell you that it helped me understand the heliotrope note a little more. From the first time I put it on, the top of the fragrance reminded me a lot to Lolita Lempicka, although in a much more airy, smooth and bearable version, less cloying. When I reviewed his notes, I came to the conclusion that the note responsible for my perceptions had to be the heliotrope, which was perhaps the note I knew the least of the composition. I had always perceived it in its most violet and powdery aspects but, reading about heliotropin and other natural or synthetic substances that are used to recreate the heliotrope, I discovered that it has aniseed, cherry and licorice facets. And boom! I understood why Lolita Lempicka had come to my mind. Since Lolita was a fragrance that I enjoyed but ended up being too heavy for me, perhaps because my collection was much smaller before and I used it too insistently for how powerful it was, I have loved incorporating Or Boreal. As it dries, it changes and becomes delicious. What for me would be the heliotrope accord dissipates and it feels more woody and musky, without losing the sweetness of the vanilla and the tonka. It has a moderate sillagel and lasts for about 8 hours on my skin. It is a sweet delicacy that can be enjoyed in almost all seasons of the year, except perhaps the most intense summer, without getting cloying. Scent 7.5 / 10 Duration 8/10 Sillage 7/10 Quality / price 9/10 Versatility 8/10 Packaging 7/10 Would I buy again? Yes

I love this brand! So so underrated. This is a touch like Mon Guerlain, somehow the floral tonka (int his case jasmine) has a similar aromatic tonka effect that MG has - although not lavender but jasmine. A little play dohey almond in the back but just a touch, and the bergamot makes it sparkle. Super plush vanilla tonka scent and as usual Pascal fashion it smells way more expensive than it is. I haven't tried everything of this line but I've been really impressed by Perle pour elle and fauve nagada (both remindig me of much more expensive other perfumes.) Anyone on a budget, look into this brand because it's niche at affordable prices. (10£ atm at the perfume shop! Buy it now thank me later - happy to swap it later on.) Not huge laster on me though I do think it lasts better on clothes! It does linger but not really a bomb. Well what can you expect, it is still very gorgeous though.

Sweet, sweet, sweet, toothache inducing sweet. I can’t wear this on its own, it annoys the heck out of me. I layer it with resinous frags and the best combo is with Shalimar edt that I also can’t wear on its own bc it smells straight out kerosene on my skin. Together they’re a nice fume for cold days. L.E. I discovered another two good combinations: with Avon vintage Breathless or another Pascal Morabito, Perle Verte. None of these are nice on their own on my skin, but layered with Or Boreal are very interesting.

A gem of a fragrance and a steal for the price. Off my skin there is a kind sweet tobacco accord, I think it's the Heliotrope, Patchouli and Tonka. On me it dries down to a wonderful Vanilla woody scent, it doesn't scream off my skin but but it leaves me in a nice scent bubble about arms length with a good scent trail. Definitely unisex IMO maybe leaning a bit masculine. Well worth giving a sniff!!

This isn't Mon Guerlain leaning, more like Cuir Beluga 😍 Boreal is deeper and sharper with prominent tonka while Beluga is softest suede... however, they give me same effect of cocooning vanilla without any florals or fruits. Vanilla and tonka heaven!
