Sultan Noir

Just received this and it’s an instant love. My first impression is Shalimar vibes. The smokiness this fragrance is prominent and similar to Shalimar. But it’s softer and more gentle and cosy. The cinnamon and apple give it a cosy gourmand side that is reminiscent of apple pie, without ever straying into Yankee candle territory. It stays nuanced and classy and the gourmand edge is subdued. While I get the vague similarities to red tobacco (which I own) I do not think they fall into the same ‘family’ or whatever I should call it. Red Tobacco is bold. RT is a motor chick in a leather jacket, it’s tattoos, and loud metal music, whereas Noir is more fuzzy and warm. Sultan Noir has a dusty, fuzzy smoke note that softly tickles the nose, layered over a cosy soft spicy sweetness. Noir wears a fur coat and smokes those extra thin cigarettes in one of those fancy holders. She’s a lady, sexy and seductive. She’s the more gentle and shy sister of Shalimar. This fragrance is so good and insanely cheap for what you get. I payed €11,50 for 100 ml (!!) and it’s almost as good as Shalimar, though a bit weaker (though this may change as the bottle ages). I’m absolutely blown away and this has become an instant favourite and cheap alternative to Shalimar. Safe blind buy if you like fuzzy, smoky oriental fragrances like Shalimar. Keep in mind that this is by no means a dupe of Shalimar, I just think they have a similar vibe (that I dig). I noticed Aubusson Liquid Amber in the reminds me off (which I also own), and I think they are quite different. There is something similar, like a similar amber note, but LA doesn’t have the dustiness and smokiness Noir has. I think Liquid Amber is darker and deeper, and has more of a boudoir vibe with that sexy chocolate and deep syrupy sweetness. Noir feels more like a 1920s cocktail party.. both are great cheap options though. Noir comes in a very pretty and elegant bottle that does not look cheap at all.

Sultan Noir opens with a smokey cinnamon apple. As it develops and dries down, the woodiness and oud become evermore noticeable, while the smokiness completely disappears. I do not get any leather, and vanilla may be contributing to the sweetness of this fragrance, but I can't detect anything vanillic. This fragrance is a unique and gourmand masterpiece! It smells like a ripe yellow (Golden Delicious) apple covered in cinnamon, that's baking inside a wood fire oven. I will admit that the initial smokiness may deter some individuals, but that goes away very quickly, and you are left with the beautiful warm apple cinnamon smell. An excellent unisex fragrance for the fall and winter, and very unique from anything else I have smelled. I would say the only fragrances I am barely reminded of would be Mancera's Red Tobacco and By Killian's Angel's Share. But this is not a dupe of those, nor even a close alternative, there is just a hint of similarity to those two. If you like the idea of a niche quality smokey apple cinnamon gourmand at a low cost, then this thing is certainly blind buy worthy! The only gripe I have with this fragrance is the poor projection and sillage on myself. The longevity is adequate, a good 8+ hours on my skin, but people have to be intimately close to smell it on me. However, at the low cost that this amazing masterpiece can be found, I would highly recommend every fragrance connoisseur to give it a sniff.

First impression straight out of the box. I haven't smelled almost any of the reminds me of except for shaghaf oud azraq (a banger, imo), so I can't say much on that. (Edit: First I thought they were more different on paper, but on skin I get slightly more similarities. To me they are the same kind vibe, but Azraq is def sweeter/more syrupy and does it's own thing with the honey and cinnamon, and that one is also more punchy/powerful. Noir feels lighter compared to that and easier to wear, and I get a little more of a leathery/smoky feel from that.) From Noir I get insence, dark woods/oud, moderate sweetness, iris bringing a slightly cold feel and leather being there in the backround. This reminds me a little of a mhyrr scented incense stick that I sometimes burn. The opening was a little scary at first, I was scared this was gonna be too vintage leaning but luckily no. If this get's even better as it settles down then wow, I have a new cool weather banger in my colleciton >:) To me this is absolutely unisex. I'm not saying that every fruity-floral gal should run to get this, but if you are like me and are intigued by darker, spicier, moodier scents (or aren't afraid to rock some masculine marketed scents) just go for it! To me this is really easy to like, not too masculine at all. And I feel like a guy could easily pull this of, not too sweet or anything like that. Will try to update as I get to know this better!

Sultan Noir turned out to be an amazing surprise for me. I found it at TkMaxx on shelves and without knowing anything about the perfume or the brand, I’ve decided to check it on Fragrantica... Turns out that all the rave reviews are right, it’s indeed a muted, more subtle version of my beloved Carlisle by Parfums de Marly!!! I can’t believe I found an extremely cheap perfume smelling so close to Carlisle! For all those interested in PdM, but not wanting to splurge 300 euros for a 125 ml bottle, this is your answer: Sultan Noir. The caveat is that Sultan Noir is close to the skin and it is weaker than Carlisle, but it’s 10 euros/bottle... Nonetheless, this is a great fragrance that is worth much more than the bargain price is being currently sold for. Absolutely divine! Another beautiful warm, amber vanilla scent that Sultan Noir is similar to it’s Ambre d’Alexandrie by Boucheron. Ambre d’Alexandrie is very affordable for the quality/quantity you get, but this is pennies compared to both brands. Do with this information what you want, but I am thrilled to have a bottle of Sultan Noir. The scent is beautiful even though it performs poorly...Though, sometimes, vanilla based scents performance improves in time!

I bought this as I was curious because of the good reviews on allbeauty and it was inexpensive anyway however this has been my most favourite perfume I have (shame on my Tom Ford) It’s smoky incense that dries down powdery. One of those perfumes that blooms while you wear it, having so many facets. It also is long lasting and what I enjoy the most is that during whole say of work, I keep smelling the scent. Sometimes I layer it with lighter scents such as litchi from M&S or White musk from Body Shop Just an update not about this perfume though but I saw another Scent in the Sultan collection called Sultan Rouge which smells exquisite oh my god! I saw it in TK MAXX and I just wanted to give it a try since I am about to collect all 5 (Noir, Or, Rose, Rouge). Just the Sultan Blanc in couple of weeks but yes! Sultan Rouge is screamingly sexy and decadent. I love it!!! Sultan Rouge is an eau de parfum with overpowering woody notes that gives a savoury trail and a modern sensuality. The poetic facets of jasmine and the brightness of saffron carry the mineral notes of ambergris and the woody tones of cedar. Rouge is luminous as it settles on the skin like a light floral, amber and woody breath.

Looking at the notes, you might think this will be a super strong fragrances. Is not as strong as you imagine. Top notes bring out a very strong blend of incense, cinnamon, leather and mild apple and mild sweetness from the vanilla. This is not a middle eastern vibe, is leaning to gourmand spice to me. It's awkward at first sniff but it give you a message that sultan noir is unique, I do not have something like this in my collection. That is why I am very impress and happy I got this into my collection, at least I have something different to wear. After 30 minutes, the incense leather fade away very quickly and the dry down are stunning. Like skin like scent gourmand woody vanilla stay close to your skin. Trust me, the bath and body works body mist is stronger than this. Sultan noir is just moderate. I did not try on my cloth yet because of the juice color might stain my cloth. When I have a chances, I will definitely try out on cloth to test out the longevity. For the price I paid, is actually a great value buy. And the bottle is stunning especially the bottle cap.

Blind buy, but for the price I was like what the heck. I love incense, dark, smoky fragrances. The opening is crazy with the incense, really strong, like I was sitting at the church. It definitely grew on me. I haven't touched it for couple of months, was just not feeling it, but now I really like it. My boyfriend also complimented me, and he rarely does on fragrances. Within 20 min the incense kick is gone, you are still left with a little smokiness but now there is the sweetness and spiciness of that cinnamon and apple and it is nice! The bottle is lovely, it honestly looks and smells niche, and for the price is insane. The longevity is great as well, I can smell it even at the end of the day. Have not worn it yet in winter, so I am pretty sure I will be even more pleasantly surprised.

First, this bottle is GORGEOUS for the price.. I love the presentation. As for the fragrance...BEAUTIFUL smokey apples and cinnamon. The oud is not overly strong in this one.. Imagine smoking fresh GREEN APPLES sprinkled in a dusting of CINNAMON on a smoky grill while INCENSE is burning around you. Ever so softly sweet, but mostly SMOKEY and incensy with apple and cinnamon in the background. A great oud for a beginner. I ADORE this. Sillage is on the weaker side and longevity is as well. Maybe 3-4 hours unfortunately. That is my only gripe. I spray on skin and clothes to get the best performance I can. It is 16 degrees (Fahrenheit) here in Illinois today and this is soooo warm and cozy. I am in love with this fragrance.. PERFECT for cold weather. I wear this day or night personally.

A beautiful dark amber oriental, well balanced, unisex! A not heavy Oud, quite round and dry, delicate, with the presence of soft leather and incense (very well arranged); offering a fairly powdery set! All enhanced with barely fruity notes of apple and elegant vanilla... Not sweet enough to vomit! Not disappointed at all. It's even a very beautiful olfactory discovery... I'm amazed!For the price! That said, in view of the olfactory notes expressed, the staying power is weak and offers a moderate sillage. In the end, it's not so bad! It's not suffocating! Finally, "And if you want an oriental fragrance with character, everyday (in winter) and unisex, which doesn't suffocate anyone in the metro, that's perfect."

Long-time wearer and recommender of this scent, so thought I should nail my colours to the mast. Huge, deep, smokey incense and resin explosion with leather spine, and costs pennies. Lasts for ages, projects well. Bottle - gorgeous etched glass. Incense is not churchy - at least, not western churchy. I've spent a lot of time in the highest of high Anglican churches, and this is more earthy, robust and layered than that incense profile. This perfume is quite the event, and I can't recommend it enough. When you see the joke £200 copy of this just released by Van Cleef and Arpels (Encens Précieux), you realise that the world has gone mad - and the rich have gone especially mad.

Definitely closer to Habdan than Red Tobacco. This is beautiful gem for the Winter and Fall. It smells absolutely incredible. I don't know if it's oxidized and matured and typically requires that to smell right, as I acquired my bottle second hand, but it smells incredibly smooth to me. It's sweet and a bit resinous. I am shocked that the score is so low, this smells better to me than stuff in my collection that costs 10-20 times as much. Unisex, leans a hair masculine to me. I can't comment on performance quite yet as I just received it, I will update soon. I am extremely impressed so far.

Is it just me or do most of these Sultan flankers have some MFK vibes in them? I am personally glad they do, for such a small price. Sultan Noir has something that reminds me of Grand Soir with some extra leather and less amber, while the Sultan Rouge one is very similar to Baccarat Rouge. I also own Sultan Or and although it doesn't remind me of anything from MFK, it shares something with Bottega Venetta Knot, while being much more with its fresh, aldehydic, and vintagey nature. Truly beautiful fragrances. Performance is good too, I get at least 5 hours with all of them.

Sultan Noir feels far more luxe than its bargain price, full of incense, oud, cinnamon-spiced leather and some caramelly apple (I assume that would be the vanilla, but it's used in a caramel way). It's practically oozing rich draperies, plump cushions, dim lights and amazing night-time delights. Wonderfully unisex, gloriously over-the-top in some respects, it's not overly safe for the office, but to be worn with abandon at other, less restrictive occasions. Wonderfully long lasting and with impressive sillage, too, Sultan Noir is highly recommended.

Wow such beautiful fragrance. Love at first sniff. Very prominent Cinnamon remind me of gluhwein, cinnamon roll, appel pie. Dark and yet fresh on the opening and the drydown more soft oudy and powdery. Stunning fragrance with Middle Eastern/Oriental vibe. Even beter scent and performance than some Niche fragrance. Now the autumn has coming, outside is windy and pouring, warm apple pie just came out the oven and i keep smelling on my wrist and my clothes where i find comfort and happiness from this lovely fragrance😍🥰❤

This is a male incense fragrance with some other facets around it to make the incense more wearable. There is apple (top), cinnamon (mid), vanilla (base) but there is incense in all three stages. To me it's like a more wearable, less leathery and more fruity version of Afnan Tobacco Rush. That fragrance is 11/10 on the masculinity scale, this is a solid 8/10. This is extremely dry Incense, best for cooler weather, nighttime. Again, be warned incense in here is no joke, if you don't like bonfire smoke don't buy it.

This little beauty had to be ordered from France. Sultan Noir is a very smokey amber, vanilla and oud type perfume. Reminds me of my beloved Bottega Knot Absolu and Mugler Miroir des Majestes with a bit more oud. Not exactly the same, of course. Beautiful little bottle which surprises me with how often I'm reaching for it. Great value and a worthy purchase if you like this type of perfume. Unisex and great longevity on my clothing. I've only tried Noir in mild temperatures (50-65F) where it performs very well.

Lovely amazing perfume. This smells like expensive but inexpensive little Gem. For a price of £12.?well i couldn’t ask for more and definitely worth to buy. It smells smooky, leather, woody, slightly warm, spicy and sweet but not overpowering, its cozy sweet. But what i love about this scent is the strong incense on the opening, and its very unique and well blended scent. I haven’t had like this in my collection. Would i buy this again.? Its a big YES.

Dark, Dark and Gothic! I love this unusual scent. It starts with a lot of tabacco and when it fade the vanilla and leather kicks in. For a cheapie it project very well and its long lasting. Its definitely unisex with a hang to masculine. Only the very strong independent women can wear this and get away with it. I think of Angelina Jolie or Kat von D kind of women. I'm not in the least like them but i'm in love with this perfume and wear it proudly. 😁

Very simple but comforting and cosy autumnal/wintry scent. To me it smells like baked apples sprinkled with cinnamon and vanilla sugar, hot toddy in your hand, glow of flames from a fireplace while you're cosying up to your loved one wearing an oud fragrance. All those scents mixed together lingering around you as you're walking back home through deep snow after Midnight Mass, still being able to smell an old wooden church filled with incense.

Just blind bought this in TK MAXX UK for £9.99 for 100ml after seeing good reviews of this perfume as a good cheapie fragrance on YouTube. WOW I am very pleased! On my skin this wears as a soft cinnamon amber scent. It reminds me of something like Tiger By Her Side by Sana Jardin or a much more toned down version of Kenzo Jungle Elephant. 10/10 would recommend. Can also understand people comparing it to a vintage amber like Shalimar

Complex scent, very cozy and comfortable, gaves me a feeling of niche and high cost. I can clearly detect a dry tobacco, vanilla and but it seems to come out of a languid oriental bouquet and add zest. The oud and incense are very delicate and somewhere in the background. Everything seems harmonious to me with the correct dosage. In general, I give this perfume a high rating. The price is a just a present, so let it be.

This is an extremely well done perfum with very well balanced inscence and leather notes. Imagine yourself, sitting by the fire, still wearing your thick leather jacket. Your hair is wet, your jacket wet, your leather boots are wet with dirt underneath and you just wanna warm yourself up. A loved one hands you a hot cinnamon infused tea. Fire is intense and although you're wet from the rain, you're perfectly content.

This reminds me of visiting old churches in the summer in southern europe. Going from the chaotic hot outside into a mix of cold fresh air and sweet smelling ancient wood. Bought my bottle for €10 , for this beautiful scent insanely cheap. I even think its an all year round scent , its def.not a heavy scent imo. It s airy and somehow fresh! A big big love for me!

I had to get this from a seller in France...$25...free shipping....and it arrived in about 1 week....YES !!! This is a fantastic ambery...incense....woody/spice oriental. Unisex...leaning masculine. Decent performance too !! Very "niche" quality...IMHO. This has vintage/classic old school vibes from perfumes from the past....IMHO. This one is .......!!!!!!!!!!!

The temps are finally below 80F and I can wear this beauty of a fragrance. I absolutely get an gentle apple infused boozy TOBACCO frag supported with cinnamon and drying down to vanilla and leather. Performance is moderate, but still good compared to many others frags at the same price. I absolutely love it. It's giving me warm, sexy, delicious and happy!

65 to 75% similar to red tobacco,it depends of the nose,but it has own personality,not too dark but rich.about performance not something wow,soft and deep with intimate to moderate sillage and 3 to 4 hours longevity with kinda moderate. Smoked cinnamon apples wrapped in a leather satchel. Darkly sweet with a heavy presence, clings to the skin and doesn't let go. I'd place this as a first cousin to Habdan by Parfums de Marly. Works best in cold weather, you can spray your scarf and have this scent around you all day. Very affordable & fantastic offering.

Incredible sillage and longevity for this price, I’m highly satisfied blind buying. Very intense cinnamon note with warm spice and a crisp freshness from the apple and iris notes in the background. Smoky and perfect for the evening, even after fading the smell remains pretty intense close-up on the skin

This is fantastic! Beautiful scent, smells like a high-quality niche fragrance but still easily wearable in fall and winter. I describe the scent as a smokey middle Eastern Layton. Absolute hidden gem, if you can get your hands on a bottle, don't hesitate.

Lovely sweet spices with lots of nice soft (yet a bit earthy) type of leather. It’s a complex scent and I absolutely love how it develops from slightly sharp and earthy to softer vanilla amber scent with warming undertones. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

If PDM LAYTON and OAJAN had menage-a-trois with Bentley for men Intense the baby would be Sultan Noir. Although this EDP, expect 2 hours of projection and Sillage about 6. Not that I care but many positive comments when I wear this.

Wow, this is Penhaligons Cairo with the rose dialled back, so so good. Perfectly unisex, sweet but not too sweet, smoky but not cloying, resinous and smooth. Absolutely Divine. I need six more bottles immediately!

To me, this is a nice example of a fresh oriental. It is smoky and woody, but thanks to the apple note (probably) and lack of musk, it does not smell dusty or musty. I would say this is unisex, in a good way.

Dominant leather note with incense that has a slight sweet tartness from the apple at the drydown. It is a bit of a soft fragrance, but it could be used most of the year because its not overbearing.

Great perfume. For a cheapie is really impressive. Lasts more than 8 hours. Sillage is very good in the beginning (2-3h top) and after that is close to the skin.

This right here is why I keep buying fragrances! To find hidden gems like this. What a beauty! Apple cinnamon and incense, smells fantastic and lasts 6 hours.

Having smelled Angel Share, I did not feel the need to own it since Sultan Noir smells quite similar. This little gem can roll with the big boys/girls.

Given the price, that's a very good fragrance.

A very rich, heavy and heady number that leans towards masculine in my opinion, but could easily be worn by ladies who fancy men's scents too. Opens with a burst of wood and cinnamon, then in comes amberwood and leather - feels a bit like walking in an autumn forest wearing a leather jacket that you just doused in some kind of strong amber essential oil. Then it settles and becomes a little powdery, perhaps that's where the iris is, and also you get a hint of incense. I also get something like spiced rum or other liquor, but the apple is undetectable for me. The drydown gets sweeter with the vanilla, and softens, so it is more pleasant. All in all I get some kind of arabic impression. I think it's great value and the quality is satisfactory for the price. Highly recommeded to try if you like spicy or arabic scents! EDIT: I actually just realized that what this scent slightly reminds me of is Molton Brown Russian Leather! This one is a bit more mellow and sweet, slightly smokey whereas MBRL is more raw..There is definitely similarity there though. Both lovely.

The perfume is unisex, split perfectly (at least for me) 50/50. They describe the aroma as baked apples sprinkled with cinnamon and vanilla. And it is exactly so. Sticking your nose into the bottle, you can feel this specific, drunken smell. Be careful, though. The beginning it's quite dark, heavy and very smoky, bitter even. Baked apples, smoky, slightly burnt. It's probably a combination of cinnamon, leather, frankincense and oud. If you last about 40 minutes, it starts to mellow, and eventually becomes, in a great smelling deliciousness, a delicacy wrapped in vanilla. The most interesting thing for me is that even after 10 hours, i can still feel it on my skin. And mine is not much into perfumes. Of course, it would suit everyone differently. Top bottle .

This gets some love here and I understand why. It is very pleasant and definitely a great value for the price. Odd the way the apple is so prominant upon first spray and then disappears so quickly. As if it manifests in the air but not on skin. On my skin, the mid and base notes are the main players. Cinnamon, leather and vanilla from 5 minutes in until it fades several hours later. Maybe a faint whiff of light smoke s well. Not great performance but as good or better than avg designer. I'm favoring niche fragrances now for their depth, but this is very good and I will definitely be wearing it on occasions when nice and comforting is enough.
