Casual

I frist discovered the fragrance in 2006. My neighbor was waring it. I was rushed with a flood of memories from my childhood. A smell that had alluded me for 40+yrs. It was the fragrance from a kinda children's soap by Avon. She told me it was "Casual" by Paul Sebastian. I could tell she was miffed that I had coveted it. I think it was transparently clear. I was fast on my way to my computer to buy some. Not too cool - I was going to have it and use it in such close proximity. Don't we all like having special secret signature fragrances all to ourselves? I know once I was in Trader Joes. A woman rushed me asking/begging me to tell her what I was waring. I told her: "All I can say is, I bathe everyday in ivory soap. I was wearing "White Linen". What I consider my everyday go to signature fragrance. I went online got two bottles. When I got it I could tell. This was not quite the same sweet soapy sent. What I had was (same overall profile composition) but way more sharpe. I hear others say the smell lily of the valley. I do not. I smell a sharpe dry honeysuckle on top. At any rate: I hear a lot of people exclaim. That they think "Casual" smells like one thing or another. I know "Jessica McClintock" very well. One of my summer favorites. Until they bastardized it with gross obvious synthetics. SADLY - Like so many other classic fragrances had been massacred. I suspect "Casual" by Paul Sebastian has been sold to some cheap operation "fragrance house" that has synthesized it to trash. The issue of fragrances being by even the top designers. Oh YES even Chanel. is a kin to the proposition of humans having romantic relationships with robots. I am sickened to no end when I hear people raving about jo malone. OMG - YUCK! Within my circle of classic favorites. Antonia's Flowers and ANNICK GOUTA - I believe are still true blue. The real heartbreak will be when White Linen is no longer recognizable. L' Air du Temps is a mere shell. I relish finding the vintage formulas from the 40's-50's. Peace Out!!!

I finally found an inexpensive jasmine/lily of the valley fragrance that (I think...) I love! I used to wear Tatiana (among other things) as a teenager in the 1980's, and I think I also had a little bottle of Coty's Muguet des Bois, and enjoyed it. Recently, in search of a new lily of the valley fragrance, I tried JLo Glow, but couldn't get past the solvent-smelling undertone that bothers some people about that one. Then I tried Elizabeth Arden Splendor, but was also put off by a rubbery undertone. But, so far, Casual doesn't have any notes that I dislike, and it has plenty of jasmine/lily of the valley. It's cool and green, fresh and powdery, just like a lily of the valley scent should be. I'm hoping that no odd notes reveal themselves as I continue to wear it, and that it has good longevity.

Something in this acts as an aphrodisiac for me. I can't stop shoving my face into my arm to catch a good whiff and I love-love-love how it makes my skin smell! It's delicious!!! Just bought it about 2 weeks ago & I've already torn through half the bottle. I only wish it projected more... To me, it's a little weak. Maybe I can find an oil dupe somewhere... I am curious what the older, frosted bottles smell like & if they have a stronger scent??? I hope this one never gets discontinued through. It's intimate, clean, classy, sort of silky & buttery. Something about it is reminiscent of China Rain oil. It's really quite lovely! It also layers very nicely with B&BW's Wild Honeysuckle & Kenneth Cole, for her. I will definitely repurchase after my backup bottle runs out. 10/10

If Jessica McClintock and J Lo Glow had a baby it would be scented like Casual. This is a fantastic scent. Lily of the Valley gives it the crispness on the opening, but then the creamy soapy floral mellows it out soon after. It's warm and fresh at the same time. Not overly complex, but not linear either. I get no synthetic notes, just a well balanced clean fragrance that does not smell like laundry. Casual is spring and summer. I will wear it during the winter when the snowy/grey days need a pick me up. I'm really digging this fragrance. It's perfect for work, picnics, social occasions.

Absolutely ADORE this scent. It is so fresh and smells like lilies of the valley, musk and lilac and each wiff gets more wonderful. I just now realized it smells like GLOW by JLO and I have always thought it smelled like Jessica McClintock. The bottle suites the smell with its lilac colored lid. This is a very fresh scent that draws in so many compliments. Somebody said it smells like Design but I dont think it smells anything like it at all! One of the best fragrances ever, especially for the spring and summertime ♥ It definitely gives expensive perfumes a run for their money.

Got this thing about 6 years ago at a TJMaxx, been in love with it since I’ve gotten it and have bought 2 more bottles since I’ve used it a lot! You’d be surprised on how much this thing got me LOTS of compliments!! It’s my go to during the spring, you don’t have to spray much as it’s very fragrant and lasts long. I always find myself almost being feral(?) for it, it’s just such an amazing scent and I just can’t get enough of it.... 10/10, It’s been my signature spring/summer scent and my partner loves it.

I've had Casual for a couple of years. Had a lady who worked at Wal-Mart tell me how good I smelled. (smile) It's what I'd describe as a super-clean white floral. Neither the soapy notes nor the white floral notes predominate; they are so smoothly blended that I can't tell where one ends and the other begins. Perfume snobs wouldn't call it a masterpiece because of its lack of complexity, but as far as a low-key combo of a few notes,it's quite an achievement.

I love this perfume. It is a floral heavy perfume, but it's so soft and beautiful at the same time. Its the perfect perfume for a fresh out the shower feel. Gives me similar vibes as Amazing Grace, but without that citrus note. I have J.Lo Glow and the dry down is pretty similar as well. I just love it. Definitely not a dated scent. Very spring, but I love it so much I would wear it all year long.

OMG,this is so fresh blue hyacinth in the bottle.It's like walking through a garden in a springtime ,when it is still a little chilly outside but the air is fresh and warm.Lilly of the valey is showing a little bit later to give freshness and innocence and make the fragrance proper for any occasions and anybody.It's just a spring in the bottle.It's absolutely love from me.

I love this perfume. It is one of my bedtime fragrances. I went through two large bottles of it. I will say by the end of the second bottle, the alcohol smell was starting to become a bit much. However, the lovely soft floral scent is great. For me, this is not a going out scent. I use it at bedtime or if I was just going to lounge around the house all day.

for me this is the smell of clean - I was bold-over when I first smelled this on my friend - it is what I had been longing for years... the smell of some soap by Avon from the early 70's (god I wish I knew what the name of that soap was) ????anyone???? - when I want to smell Clean and Casual, this is what I ware.

Modern formulation: lily of the valley mainly with a hint of rose, a bit of heliotrope, maybe a drop of jasmine if I stretch for it, some cyclamen and musk. Very light and fresh for spring and summer. It has a little bitter greenness in it on the drydown.

My very first fragrance. I've owned dozens of bottles over the decades. This perfume is a straightforward spring floral, and smells like realistic flowers. It's mainly lily of the valley on my skin, with citrus and jasmine.

This is spring in a bottle. The lovely, airy scent of a blue hyacinth. I've been looking for ages for a good hyacinth perfume, and this is it. It's a pure floral without smelling soapy or stuffy.

I don't care how vintage the scent profile is, my world is better with this fragrance in it! Love, love, LOVE this soft, feminine fragrance. Reminds me of the perfect spring day.

A lovely fragrance for spring! I am among those fragranticans who thoroughly enjoy this little known beauty. However, I don't see any resemblance to either Glow or Splendor. To me, there's a strong similarity here to Love's Soft Jasmine! Casual is composed of more than mere jasmine - but the same KIND of aura is present in each. Fresh floral goodness. :) Even though it's not listed, I smell fragrant hyacinth along with the gentle powder note of heliotrope and the more dominant jasmine. Beautiful, but never overpowering. Unlike Paul Sebastian Design ( with whom it has virtually nothing in common ), Casual is a Skin Scent. But with a difference! This is one skin scent with amazing longevity. I seldom experience this kind of endurance in perfumes, let alone light florals. I see Casual as a fragrance perfectly suited to both young and old. The kind that mothers spritz on themselves AND their daughters to complete their Easter finery. Timeless. Five Stars... worth far more than the price tag. Update - I now fully agree with the reviewer who stated Casual smells like the child of Glow and Jessica McClintock! The lily notes and dryer sheet freshness finally got to me, and after using it to spray out my closet (perfect, right?), the dryer sheets aspect came out in spades. Dryer sheets are among my least favorite perfume smells, so this was sent to another home ASAP. Still, a quality perfume I'm glad to have experienced. :D

I acquired my big bottle of Casual as a blind buy over the internet because I'd read so many rave reviews of it and it's impossible to get hold of here in England. Luckily for me, I tracked down a website that specializes in hard to find perfumes, especially American ones, so I was very happy to be able to get a bottle from there. When I first smelled Casual I was a bit disappointed because, although I thought it was pleasant, it didn't live up to my high expectations and it didn't strike me as being particularly special. My first impression was that it smelled a bit unusual, quite artificial and flowery (although less commonly flowery than a perfume such as Pleasures, luckily!) but after wearing it for awhile the artificial smell died down and it started to smell really nice. The longer it was on my skin the better and better it smelled. Not only that but it lasted for ages as well and stayed with me until I washed it off. It's a subtle, light, airy and clean smelling fragrance so it's great as an everyday, go-to scent and would be perfect as a work perfume because I doubt anybody could be irritated or annoyed by it! So, I really do like this perfume very much now and hopefully it'll be a staple scent in my perfume collection for as long as I'm able to get it!

This is a great love for me! I picked up this cheapie many many years ago at tjmaxx in the frosted glass bottle and it was the ultimate clean girl scent!! I wore it to work for many years in the warmer months and I don’t think I’d be exaggerating if I said I got hundreds of compliments! Probably three a day! (I encounter hundreds of people a day at my job) I don’t think the newest formulation has quite as good longevity but it still smells great! Ironically, I do not really like Glo! I have it, it’s ok, but way more powdery to my nose, and I don’t gravitate toward a powdery scent. This isn’t the same kind of powdery to my nose. It’s fresher, greener and more enjoyable, at least to me! I enjoy all the notes and have been a huge fan of lily of the valley since I could crawl! 😂 Ylang ylang is also a favorite! I plan on keeping this in my collection for a long time! I do reserve this only for spring and summer! I think it could get cloying in the cooler months but when you’re hot and want to feel a bit cleaner and fresher, this one is great!

An unapologetically white-green-purple-soapy floral cheapie that is like being hit over the head with a giant spring bouquet. I’ve lost count how many times I have repurchased this due to constant use in the humid spring/summer months here in the American South. Muguet (or lily-of-the-valley) is the star, executive producer, director and playwright in this floral blockbuster. Sillage is fairly decent given that sometimes muguet can be a delicate note, but in Casual we get lovely green muguet for days! The citruses in this are background dancers, shimmying somewhere way behind the giant muguet panorama. This is a fantastic break-glass-in-case-of-emergency floral explosion that serves as an excellent pick-me-up or soapy scent refresh on warm days around the house or running errands. Millennials will remember the 90’s/00’s Herbal Essences commercials with the lady quasi-orgasmically screaming “Yes, yes, YES!!” — that’s me when I spray Casual. Beat me up with that big bouquet! Whack!!!

On me a fresh, spring, realistic hyacinth scent with a perfect blend of springtime innocence. I could well wish the base note (clean, airy, inoffensive, long lasting) musk were more appealing on my skin. If it were, I would have bought more, for sure, as this is a fantastic value for such a fine blend and long lasting, nicely projecting floral. The powder and vanilla are almost invisible (at least to my nose) and it's all about the florals on a clean base. The powder is like that in Paul Smith Roses, in that it is clean, modern, uplifting, and never dry or talcum in essence. It is technically perfect, but that pure and otherwise perfect musk was not a perfect balance for my chemistry. Even so, I could not more highly recommend it as a budget winner MOST UNlikely to offend. Quite likely to elicit complements. Five stars!

This is a pandemic perfume, and one of my very first blind buys. Before the pandemic--I was not a blind buyer! I actually enjoy blind buying now. I have worn Casual 3 times. Most recently, on Sunday. Each time I've worn it, I had a different experience. On Sunday, the freshness definitely was the front runner. I paired it with another fresh, white floral--Victoria's Secret Cotton Poppy. To my nose, this fragrance smells dated--which is not a problem for me, but I can see it being an issue for some. It starts off, initially, pretty bold--then it calms all the way down to a wafter--after only a few hours. This is best in the daytime to run errands or go to the gym. Perfect for layering. Not a safe blind-buy.

I bought this fragrance recently and I love it. It has a true jasmine smell. The scent is very clean. Definitely a great spring time perfume. Very long lasting. Update: I've had this perfume for almost a year and I am about done with it. I really like the clean soapy smell that remains once it dries down. I personalty have been loving it for after I shower before going to bed. The opening is a bit sharp but I do love it. This is perfume is true to its advertising and name it is very casual. I should be repurchasing once I am done with it.

While many reviewers are saying that they like JLO Glow better, I can honestly say that i find this one to be much more pleasant on my skin, though there are similarities between the two. Something about Glow was just off to me, maybe because I was expecting so much more since it gets rave reviews. I didn't have any expectations for this one because I don't hear any hype about it. I think many people will actually like them both (if you like the one, you will probably like the other). Both are inexpensive too, so that's a plus.

I just received this in the mail today..I smelled it once at TJ Maxx and thought it smelled nice but didn't purchase it. I saw it online and decided to buy it; glad I did! Very flowery and fresh! My only drawback with this is that it doesn't last very long on me. UPDATE: I am finding that I don't really like this as much as I thought I did. I find that the floral notes smell synthetic on me. A bit of a disappointment after all : ( I sprayed VS Basic Instinct over Casual...makes it a warmer scent...like it better that way.

I rediscovered this in my collection because I seem to overlook this treasure. I wore it one day and I smelt lovely, pretty and clean the whole day. Smells a little soapy and fresh like you just stepped out of a shower. I got a great compliment from a coworker and she said she's going to go out and buy it. This is a reminder that one does not have to be expensive to smell terrific. Some of my more expensive perfumes don't garner as many compliments. Smells similar to Glow but more long lasting.

I love this perfume! It is the perfect combination of decent strength,silage,lasting ability,comfort, and beauty. Great for ANY occasion...this is a mildly sweet,soapy,refreshingly floral-lily of the valley, that is fabulously balanced and never overpowering or offensive.There is a subtle sexiness and richness to this arrangement. It seems suited best for springtime and warm weather in it's personality. Casual is a frequent confident go to scent for me and I do get many compliments.

Woooow, what a beauty!:D Yes, it is similar to Glow, especially in the opening notes. It is not as creamy, not as round but fresher and sharper - like a spring variant of Glow. I sense some beautiful soap, lily of the valley and delicate jasmine and bergamot somewhere in the background. The longer I'm wearing it, the more generic it becomes but not that it's bad - it just loses a bit of its initial charm. Still, I like this perfume and I'm happy to be able to test it at last!:D

A very white floral fragrance that you can't go wrong with. A bit sharp at the opening but settles down as a delicate and clean scent. Nothing very posh or expensive, casual as the name suggests. You could spray your wardrobe with it and it might settle as a floral washing powder. Definitely a day fragrance. I can smell a lot of lily of the valley in it, got complemented once wearing it. Nothing intriguing, nothing sexy, just a pleasant scent which I personally really liked.

I just rescued this one from the bargain bin. It's an unremarkable fresh smelling soapy floral, summer scent which will probably be good for the office but won't turn any heads. And who names PS frags anyway? They are horrible at it!! Design? Casual? Funky Sexy Cool? Ecch! Update: Layer this one with a spicy oriental. I chose PR Oro and the combo is long lasting and radiant. It makes 2 otherwise lackluster scents shine and tones down Oro's masculine tone.

This is a really pleasant suprise, which I came accross in a thrift store.. It's opens very fresh, like water hyacinth and lily-of-the valley and some kind of bitter citrus and dries down to something very similar to Woods of Windsor White Jasmine, with a little less ylang. I really like it, although it doesn't really last that long on me. Or else you need warmer weather to bring it all out, not sure. I'm still happy to have it though.

I just sampled this today. If you like J Lo's Glow, but are on a budget, you will love this one. They are very similar to the point that at first spritz I doubt you could tell them apart wrist to wrist...(I have Glow) but then Casual doesn't get as "soapy" smelling...it has more of a citrus smell that comes out to my nose. Very clean and "I just showered" sort of a scent. It is strong though, so I would use both sparingly.

After I ordered this I then saw people reporting that the new packages don't have the name Paul Sebastian on them, discouraging. Well it arrived today, and indeed it does not, just says EA Fragrances. However, it's a really pretty fragrance! And seems potent so far. So far I like. ------------------------------------ I get a lot of lily of the valley from this one. Good lasting power! I appreciate that.

I agree with sassy. I've often read reviews where perfumes have been described as been soapy but I've had mixed feelings. Well I have to agree with sassy this does smell soapy. It would be very nice in a bar of soap. Like a previous reviewer said I likewise bought this due to accolades by reviewers. It makes for a nice change when I don't want to wear the same old oriental spice and vanilla fragrances.

What a wonderful find! Fresh baby shampoo like scent. Quite reminiscent of J.Lo Glow which I love. Fresh clean at first hints of violets and lily of the valley. Other floral notes are present in the background more in a subdued blended manner. I am going back to purchase it. Light and comfortable to wear for daytime, excellent for spring and winter.

This has a nice, kind of soapy flowery smell but it's really strong! Very sharp opening but there are enough sweeter flowers underneath to balance it. I really like it when sprayed lightly in warm weather. Reminds me of my old favorite, the original Tatiana from the early 80's, before it was changed into something horrible.

shoshana25 - maybe your bottle is a fake! It doesn't smell at all musky to me and my bottle has a blue top, not a purple one. The perfume is otherwise as you described - soapy'ish and clean smelling, light with a hint of a lily-of-the-valley kind of smell, although I don't see that listed in the notes on here!!

This is the Only fragrance that I have found that smells so wonderfully clean...more compliments than I have ever received and I have worn very expensive scents but no compliments like I get when I wear Casual.Every time a nice compliment..Not overwhelmingly strong..hope it is always available...

A very VERY very floral smell with a huge hint of aldehyde and alcohol in it. It smells fresh, refined, and mature. It's perfect for spring and females that enjoy scents with a more mature accent to them. I don't reach for this at all but I can see why so many people like it.

I have been wearing this fragrance since it came out in 1995. I love it for its clean smell. Not a day goes by when someone doesn't ask me what I am wearing or tells me that I smell good! To me, that's a great sign! It will be a staple in my collection for sure!

I agree with Kittycat63, it's final note is rather artificial. The top note seems to me as a lily of the valley scent. I find this fragrance cute but shallow and I can't cope with the artificiality of it.

Soapy scent without muskiness. My mother who dislikes perfumes likes this.

Two things to say about this. 1. I've smelled this perfume hundreds of times from the time I was a little girl. My aunt wore it in the 90s and I think she still does. I don't understand the the notes listed because all I smell is powder, nondescript white florals, and alcohol. It's a nostalgic scent for me, that gives me happy memories, but not something I would want to smell like or smell often. It smells like laundry soap or a generic "powder fresh" deodorant. 2. There is a company called Lake and Skye selling this exact same scent, and I mean exact same, calling it 11:11, and for $100! So weird!

I went through the trouble to source an older frosted bottle and I don't think it's worth it. Very much a skin/ intimate scent and it fades within 2 hours. It is a heavier scent compared to Jlo Glow, which I prefer. A creamy old fashioned bar soap smell.

This fragrance develops a suntan lotion undertone on my skin. Not unpleasant but not my favorite. On the positive side, Casual is very subtle on me so I can wear it outside in warm weather. Not likely to buy again but at least it was given a chance.

Very strong white floral scent. I blind bought this, and I' not a huge fan og tuberose. Givende me a headace.

It was a blind buy as it was on clearance in Winners. It is very flowery, but also has some undertone on me... I can see why someone says smells like suntan lotion... for me it smelled almost dusty. Luckily my Mom liked it, she loves flowery perfumes and this one she says predominately lily of the valley plus jasmine.

My sister has this and to me it's just blah. It's hardly even noticeable and to me smells kinda like dish detergent. The bottle is pretty though with the frosted glass and purple top. I'd let this one sit on my dresser with my perfumes only because the bottle's cute but I'd never use it.

To me this is a very sharp lily of the valley smell. I don't get any citrus or other florals. It is clean smelling, very indicative of the 90's when it was created. Not classy or sexy. Just meh.

A bathroom freshener in terms of complexity. I literally have it on the sink to freshen the air in the bath.
