Zeybek

Big fan of Omer's work and this is no exception, the most striking thing about it for me in the opening and despite a strong lavender presence it's the animalic undertones that really show themselves early and leave you under no illusion that Zeybek ain't fuckin' about. These animal notes are perfectly weighted, musky (and I do mean deer musk) mixture between sensual, cozy ambrette and mildly pissy, animalic musk. It reminds me of shangrilide and leathery aspects of castoreum, but cleverly dosed into a very clever fragrance which switches from an aromatic, herbal top, laden with hay notes into a kind of smoothed out, lightly metallic but creamy musk. It almost has shades of musk ravegeur in the drydown, floral, lilly like (probably the narcissus?) perhaps the sweet vanillic creaminess of tonka, which you really can't smell in the opening but is very prominent when settled. I get herbs, fennel, celery salt, spices, eugenol, cloves but it's all backed by that animal feel. I think it's very, very good, interesting perfumery and totally in keeping with the style of the perfumer and brand. His work often feels like a good curry, levels and waves of spice and flavour that build and develop on your palate.

Zeybek by Pekji is a fragrance that captivates with its originality and intensity. It opens with a blend of fresh and spicy notes, where black pepper and lemon mix in a lively and intriguing way. As it develops, leather and wood notes emerge, adding depth and a bold character. Its timeless elegance is enhanced by hints of musk and vanilla, making it enveloping without being overly sweet. Zeybek is ideal for those seeking a sophisticated, mysterious perfume with rich, multifaceted nuances.

Sampling Pekji Zeybek, an animalic, spicy, minty, greenish floral, described as an animalic fougere, and it’s very much as intense as it sounds, and not in my usual wheelhouse in terms of preferred scent categories. The intensity does wane a little after the opening sprays but the mix remains—from a civet/leather combo to a floral blend to hay and even vetiver, this is a pretty loud, multifaceted ensemble that makes it the most provocative scent of the five in the discovery set that I sampled, easily, and that’s at least attempting to discount the genre entirely. I would say spray carefully, but this undoubtedly makes for a lot more variety in the quintet, even though it’s not for me, personally. It just doesn’t quite come together in a coherent way that I can enjoy it all that much, but the complexity and performance are significant. Zeybek is priced at $165 for 50ml, the same as the rest of the line, in extrait concentration, and is sold at Luckyscent and other boutiques. 5 out of 10

Objectively, not bad. Not something I’d reality like to wear. Smells like Himani Navratna Hair Oil. Medicinal, herbal and spicy. Barnyard greenery. Interesting, but a hard pass.

Pekji koleksiyonunun sert çocuğu. Ilk 10 dakika animalic bir tokat yiyorsunuz. Ortalama bir parfüm kullanıcı için çok zor bir koku. Yukardaki listede bulunanların hiçbiri bu animalic baskına karşı koyamıyor. Ilk başlarda oldukça kirli 1 saat sonra sadece sert animalic. Notalarda civet yok başka bir animalic notada yok ama bu parfüm bence tamamen bu nota üstüne kurulmuş. Tutun koklayamadım. Oldukça asi ve kapalı ortamlarda, ofiste etrafına hayatı dar edebilir. Bu ciddi parfüm meraklılarının kış aylarında kullanabileceği bir balyoz. Kalıcılık makul koku dağılımı ise ilk 10 dakika çok yüksek. Sanki bir çiğlik atıyor ve sonra homurdanmaya başlıyor. Hayatını popüler fresh kokular ile geçirmiş bir genç Üzerinde şok etkisi yaratabilir. Niş sahada oyuna giren Pekji için bence animalik kalemde başka çalışmaya gerek yok ..:-) Belki sevmeyeceksiniz ama saygı duymanız gerek. Cesur bir çalışma ve yine cesur kullanıcı istiyor. Hayatının büyük bölümünü ofiste geçiren bir kişi olarak ben bu cesarete sahip değilim. Önceki yorumumda yazmamıştım ama bence markanın fiyatları yüksek. Yerli parfüm severler için bu rakamlar marka ile arafa mesafe yaratır. Yabancı markalardan kötü olduğundan, zayıf olduğundan değil. Kaldı ki koleksiyondan sadece Zeybek benim koleksiyonuma giremez. Ama diğerleri rahatlıkla kendine yer bulur. Ama 130 usd olduğu zaman sanırım bir süre bekleme odasınca kalacak. Bunlar bir yana tabiki tasarımcıyı yine tebrik ediyorum. Bu markadan çok iyi çalışmalar geleceğini düşünüyorum. Urun yelpazesi ve opsiyonlar artmalı. Küçük boy şişeler iyi olurdu.

Hay and leather with a skanky touch. Totally horse barn, including poo! The citrusy lavender enters to slightly counter it. Then, the floral narcissus enters. The lavender anise smell grows until it's mostly floral with a barn in the background. It's like chewing on a lavender stem. It never loses the poo completely, but it does become more socially acceptable. Then, near the end, it's like dropping the lavender in poo and squishing it with your foot. It smells like a horse barn set in the idyllic countryside. I'm all for pushing limits, but why would you want to smell like this? Antisocial tendencies? It's not meant to be worn. The purfumer is making a "look at me I'm so iconoclastic" statement. Unless you are trying to seduce a horse trainer, pass!

An animalic trampling of hay, tobacco, lavender, and wet daffodils. Aromatic, it becomes docile, soft and sweet and sour with tonka bean in lemon and vetiver syrup. A mature cowboy in the saddle.

I tried once, and I learnt my lessons well. I am very sorry to say that this perfume smells like a horse shit. Some people calls this dirty smell as an animalistic one. I disagree, animal shit ok.. But animalistic? Definitely not. This so-called perfume is the worst one that I have seen. If you wanna smell like a goat just buy one bottle.

Coming back to this review over a year later as my thoughts have changed somewhat. Something inside me that was previously related to some sense of propriety finally broke and I said, "fuck it, I wanna smell like an animal." Well, this does the trick nicely. This is a disgusting fragrance. I love it. It is musky goats in rut, hay, mud, farm herbs, and a little bit of a pleasant warmth of tobacco and tonka. It is probably the most animalic I own, embarrassing in the category with Dior Leather Oud, not pissy like that one is but absolutely raunchy. The opening is the most intense but it does calm down a little bit, and sweet hay becomes the dominant note. But that animal musk never fully leaves the composition. Performance is excellent, much better than many bottles in this price range. I wore it to the grocery store and I am pretty sure I could actually see people's faces reacting to it, the nose wrinkling, the glancing about like "what is that smell," not able to identify it because nobody expects a person to smell this way, rather expecting to see that a goat or donkey has entered the scene. It is not safe, tremendously unsafe, if you wear it to the office you will be banished. If you wear it on a date they will either turn and run or want to fuck you immediately. I like to wear it with head to toe black Rick Owens and just enough gold jewelry. From my previous review: "If you've read Jitterbug Perfume, and I recommend that you do, you'll know there's a curious fragrance that hangs around the god Pan. It is a raunchy, earthy aroma that slaps you across the face, yet is also somehow enticing. It's the smell of the Goat God in rut. This is the smell of Zeybek."

Testing this today. Opens with a serious blast of funk that actually reminds me a bit of the salty creamy heft of bleu cheese. Then, moments later, we've got a frothy centaur who's just run through the meadow from the forest. Horsey, herbal, salty. Then! Leather and fennel. Lavender. I don't hate this. There's animalic funk and musk and general gland-ness for sure but there's nothing poopy about it to me as others have mentioned. There's a freshness in this that really lingers and balances out the animal notes. Zeybek is not the sort of fragrance I wear at all, but I like the ride it's taken me on. Actually I'd like to meet the guy whose signature fragrance this is. At the very least it's super interesting and worth a sniff. Later: this has settled to a skanky musky barn hay, lavender and narcissus waft. I don't believe in fragrance gender but this screams MAN to me; like it just smells like a man. tl;dr this is fully zesty barnyard and while I can't say I want to wear it, after just an afternoon I'm fond of it because I can discern the artistry and the vision. This is why I love sampling - sometimes it can feel like visiting a place you enjoy but would never want to live.

This is absolutely not my style but I can so appreciate this blend - it is really interesting to smell really enjoyable. The notes are taking their turns shining, you can smell each one (apart from vetiver which I don't smell, and more than listed) and tell it's super high quality. Strong lavender opening, turns into an earthy green hay and strong leather. Then come the animalics musk and maybe a civet which isn't listed. Then morphs back into something lighter again, floral, I'm getting in addition a licorice note which - again not my note but somehow it smells super nice. Overall this is first herbal and earty, then animalic and strong, and finally a licorice honeyed floral. Totally odd and interesting! I love this interpretation of hay. It definitely doesn't shy away from animal associations with a skunky narcissus, aromatic lavender, and a lovely grassy hay. There are other intriguing herbal/spicy accents at top as well. In addition to the herbals and florals, there's definitely a zoo-ey animalic note in there that feels like a cocktail of various animal scents. The more pungent stuff is tempered by coumarin/tonka as it dries. It has the gorgeous complexity and nuanced structure of a classic perfume with modern indie/weird sensibilities. Love it certainly as art and for private wear. Kind of feel like it would be a great accompaniment to romping in a pasture. Curious how it would play in other settings!

An animalic, barnyard-tinged leather infused with a fresh spicy brightness. Its name feels perfectly fitting: the fragrance embodies the spirit of the Zeybeks: both shepherds of the land and warriors of fierce courage. Tobacco and hay weave through its core, anchored by the lavender of Western Anatolia. I usually avoid giving scents a gender, but in more traditional terms, this reads as a bold blend of classic masculine elements . It smells like leather steeped in the dust and sweat of the earth, carrying both grit and nobility. For lovers of barnyardy leathers, it is a rare gift. Oily lavender & vetiver hay. Lemon, musk, & tobacco on top of the lavender plate with vetiver & hay. I don't see this as leathery blend! it's more of a tobacco lavender blend. 10 minutes in and the narcissus appears with sour yet sweet tonka beans. This blend is interesting! it's thick, oily, but amusing. Nice. Edit (29th April 2020) a year+ later & i'm back to it. The hay is fizzy somehow blended with lavender flavor. as it settles, the lemon, bergamot, & narcissus rises makes it a bit sour more than hay and lavender. Remains no leather detected. This blend is cute indeed and kind of addictive somehow!

Fascinating, cerebral, and odd. Imagine the complexity of Bogue's Mem but built around fennel instead of lavender. This is a beautifully bizarre masculine, and I implore you to smell it. I imagine a very athletic, insensitive software engineer wearing this.

Medicinal, green, barnyardy, animalic. Horrendous. In the opening it almost smells like horse feces. After some time it becomes warmer and more pleasant, but it is still heavy on the animalic leather and hay. What a weird scent. 0/10.
