Eau de Cologne

I also love this stuff, but it appears from other reviews here that they've changed their formula so that it doesn't last very long. I don't know when this happened. The original bottle I had from 1982 was a non-spray bottle that was probably 100ml in a sort of antique apothecary bottle style with a glass stopper, but the juice lasted around 4 hours. The bottle I'm currently using I got probably sometime between 2010-2015 and it's the spray with the cutesy grosgrain ribbon at the neck, and it lasts maybe 3 hours. I'm sure I bought it online and not through Penhaligon's either. So if you love this stuff, try to get one of these earlier bottles. And hope no one used it for decoration and left it out in the sun. This eau de cologne is good weapon to battle the heat, and yes, there are other eau de colognes that are far cheaper that are good in the heat, but this one is also worthwhile.

A classic eau de cologne from a classic house. Penhaligon's EDC is a lovely crisp, fresh, refreshing EDC in the same vein as 4711, ADP Colonia and, dare I make the comparison, TF Neroli Portofino. The open is a lovely bergamot-orange-lemon mix, with a hint of rosemary. The neroli then kicks in, and balances out the mix. The neroli is definitely the star of the show here. The result is a refreshing and uplifting EDC. Like most EDC's, longevity is negligible. I get maybe a couple of hours, and this is a skin scent on me. However, that shouldn't detract from the beauty of this fragrance.

I love this stuff, a nice citrusy, neroli fragrance. The only downside of this fragrance is the performance. Since it's an EDC, it only lasts 1 hour MAX. I got around 45 minutes on my skin then it faded, with little to no projection. But, it's a nice, rare, discontinued gem that i got as a gift. Recommend this for the spring and summer only. This is mainly a daytime fragrance. 7.5/10

Very pleasant dry-down, but this lasts at most an hour and has zero projection. Shame.

Fragrance Review For Penhaligon Eau de Cologne Notes Orange Bergamot Lemon Rosemary Neroli Created in 1927 as a citrus based skin freshner or bath product, this is a simple and passing smell of citrus, fresh and sharp, like an aftershave. This fragrance is in the same category as fresh citrus skin freshner to cool you in the summer time as the classic 4711 Eau de Cologne or even Florida Water, but even those scents last longer than this one and are superior quality. This must have been very cheap in the late 20's. I'm convinced it was a domestic product to keep at home, in the bathroom as simple citrus toilet water. The citrus, while it lasts, is so refreshing and delicious. It also smells of spicy rosemary which mingles with the mélange of ciruses: bergamot orange and lemon. The scent is cool and like orange juice in perfumed form. Uplifting, refreshing and revitalizing, a tonic, but it was the shortest life of any old fashioned cologne I've ever experienced. To me the neroli is the real star. The neroli gives enough citrus scents to the other notes and the rosemary is for spice. This is quite unisex as it smells neither feminine nor masculine but an easy to wear toilet water to keep at home. It's something to wear in the hottest summer days. Wear this to the beach or while driving in a hot car with no air conditioning. It reminds me of Florida where it's humid and hot all the time. Not bad. I hope they reformulate this with a fuller body and the traditional top middle and base notes so that it has a better life and projection. It's just a simple citrus.

I don't see any basenotes being mentioned here and honestly I guess it should be correct! This is a very nice and uplifting classic cologne with no lasting power! It just needs seconds to sit very close to my skin and lasts for a very short time... Such a big disappointment...I wish there was a classic eau de cologne like this but with lasting power
