Highgrove Bouquet

After aimlessly wandering around the perfume hall in Harrods yesterday, while my husband entertained our small Grandchildren (6 and 3) in the toy department, I checked out all those that were on my list to try: Delina original (I have bought a couple of copies/dupes), a few Bond No 9s, and another one which i cannot remember the name of now, but was in a peacock glass bottle with a peacock feather adorned near the lid. I actually nearly bought that one as at that point felt disappointed, pressured and reluctant to give in to the persistent salesman! I nodded as he frantically dove under the counter for my boxed scent... But at that point felt quite sick. Nearly £300 for a creamyish floral that wasn't quite right!!! I made my apologies and said I needed to make sure- as I walked away. He reluctantly offered that he'd put it under the counter for later (probably swearing under his breath at the lost commission). Anyway, we fought our way through the crowds on our way to Covent Garden, and were stopped in our tracks by a wonderful smell wafting across the pavement. We looked up: we were outside Penhaligon's! My husband asked me if I wanted to go inside? I didn't need asking twice!! I perused the display, sniffing the lids of the offerings. The assistant tried to help me, but I found it difficult to describe what I was looking for.. My husband settled on 'William' as it is the name of our precious grandson 💙 I had moodily given up looking/ sniffing. Then- he called me over to smell another one. He had been asking about the royal connection, and if 'William' was named after Prince William?🤴🏻 He was told that it was actually named after William Penhaligon the founder, however the royal crest on the wall was in connection with (the then) Prince Charles (now King) who had input into the 'Highgrove' EDP. I wandered over, bored and disappointed. BUT then I sniffed the fragrance strip! It was a beautiful fresh, powdery, clean smell like clean washing on a line in a cottage garden! I loved it! It had faint hints of Private Collection by Estee Lauder (after it has settled for an hour) then Cardamom and Mimosa by Jo Malone in the background. Clean, classic, royal, natural, like fresh towels near cottage garden flowers in bloom on a sunny afternoon. This was it, the scent i had been searching for! PS They also engraved both of our bottles with special notes FOR FREE!! I am beyond happy with my choice. (Also my bottle is refillable, so I'll have it forever!)

#27 of My Fragrance Journey: Penhaligon’s Highgrove Bouquet – A Garden in My Skin Every now and then, a fragrance doesn’t just sit on your skin - it stops you, catches your breath, makes you pay attention. Highgrove Bouquet did exactly that for me. First spray and I thought: oh. This is it. This is the one. The opening? It’s bright, almost sparkling - like spring waking up. A vernal zing of citrus, green and lively, with that rush of light you get when the morning sun cuts through damp leaves. It’s fresh, it’s quick, almost fleeting - but it sets the stage. Then the heart blooms. Linden blossom - the silver lime flowers - comes forward, and it’s magic. Soft, powdery-green, with that honeyed glow only linden has. It’s not citrus at all; it’s a floral haze, golden and gentle, like standing under a linden tree when the air is thick with blossom. Mimosa threads through it, adding warmth and a kind of airy sweetness that feels like sunlight caught in petals. Together, they radiate this lush, living freshness that’s neither too floral nor too green - it just feels real. And then it grounds itself. The cedar in the base is smooth, dignified, and quietly strong. It anchors the whole thing without weighing it down, like polished wood beneath layers of greenery. Wearing Highgrove Bouquet feels less like putting on a fragrance and more like stepping into a memory - a garden after rain, earth warm beneath your feet, blossoms overhead. Fresh yet timeless. Radiant but refined. Not just a smell - an atmosphere. And I can’t stop thinking: this could be my signature. The one I reach for without question, the one that always feels right. Highgrove Bouquet is lush, radiant, grounding, and - honestly - utterly enchanting. I’m in love.

I really love this fragrance and I find it so light, airy, joyful and spring-like. It is very much a yellow floral, but it has a citrusy top note to it that makes everything fresh and somewhat unisex, though it leans slightly feminine to me. Like a previous Fragrantican said, it is like "bees in a field of golden flowers and pollen" and I don't think that anyone could feel sad while wearing this. Linden blossom is of course the star of the show, with its sweet, honeyed and green character, but mimosa is its sidekick, making everything fluffy, slightly almondy and slightly musky. I can't really smell any wood in here and I feel like it just adds longevity to the fragrance, which is a win for me, since I prefer non-woody fragrances by far too woody ones. Penhaligon's Highgrove Bouquet is deceptively simple, but it has a subtle complexity to it and you can tell it is made from only the finest ingredients that they could source. It is perfect for spring and summer days, it lasted about under 5 hours on my skin and it has a moderate sillage on my skin. It is just beautiful and I'd give it an 8.5/10. Totally full bottle worthy and perfect for the English royal or aristocrat in us all!

I cannot wear floral fragrances, but this doesn’t smell like a floral ‘perfume’... it genuinely smells like an real English garden on a sunny day, very different; greens, trees, the moist air, the warm sun. Hints of green tea, cut grass and cedar neutralises the gender. Comparing floral samples side by side (Penhaligon's, Matiere Premiere, Kilian...), what makes this floral distinctly different is that there is something unique that conveys a feeling of bright light. The perfumer used the process of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry molecular analysis to recreate the unique scent of the garden. It's like a recording studio for scents, absolutely fascinating technology. Unlike most of the Penhaligon's collection, this EDP has endurance, clinging to my skin and evolving to a lovely cedar for over 4 hours-If you are making an EDP for the future King, you better not cheap out. Not only did I buy a full bottle, but my husband and I are planning a trip to the Highgrove estate to walk in the hanging silver lime garden that was recorded to create this masterpiece.

This has been one of the finest among the surprising spate of new linden fragrances that have appeared lately, and, with its addition of mimosa, produces the impression of standing in a beautiful summertime garden in the height of summer. My only regret is its price point, which is surprisingly high given that it was produced with the approval of the current king of the United Kingdom and named after his Gloucestershire estate. (Wouldn't he have wanted to produce something that more of his people could afford to enjoy?) It's not as soft or as feminine as many other linden fragrances, although it's certainly not as bracing as MAB's Tilia, either. It really hits a nice sweet spot.

The opening legitimately triggers flashbacks of walking through one of the big local gardens in my city as a child. Realistic floral and green notes. It smooths down to a dainty and pretty floral that has okay sillage. I go nose blind to this one pretty quickly unfortunately, but I get many compliments and it’s been perfect for this abhorrent Florida weather! Thank you to my Fragrance Fairy Godmother for sending me a bottle of this. If it wasn’t for you, I’d never have tried—much less own— many of the beautiful fragrances I do now. 💖

I absolutely adore this fragrance. It's difficult to find a floral that truly smells like flowers. This smells like walking through a field or into a beautiful flower garden. It's incredibly fresh and bright, and wears so well. Most florals are very heavy and this isnt at all. I haven't sprung for a bottle yet as it's so expensive, but I spray some on every time I visit a Penhalligons, and one spray always lasts very strongly all day long, morphing beautifully the whole way. Truly an incredible perfume. One day I will own a bottle

The author chose to go minimalism all the way. Mimosa is at the centre of the stage while musk and lime are competent harmonizers. It is really resembling jo malone's mimosa & cardomom. However, that one is thicker, riper and this one is airier, indolic and simpler. Mimosa & cardamom is a countryside paddy field, whereas highgrove bouquet is a fresh clean white royal garden. A must-try for mimosa fanatics for sure. 7/10

Now in my mid 30s and growing up in Asia, a lot of perfume smells too much now. Especially with my husband who is sensitive to perfumes. But this is GOOD. I can even wear it at home. It’s warm and bright, lets you know its there but not overpowering. By the 8th to 12th hour it smells exactly like soap and laundry on me. I’m not a fan of King Charles but I do admit he has good taste in perfume.

Very high quality, it's the smell of wealth. King Charles weighed in on the fragrance as it's for the Kings Foundation and I must say, he has a very high taste level. Even though it's fall and this is not a fall fragrance, it still is a daily wearable fragrance and the price is excellent for what you're getting. If you look at the notes, it looks simple, but actually, it's elegant.

Important to note that the notes involved are more complex than the ones listed here. The Highgrove Gardens official website gives the actual full list: “With top notes of geranium, lavender and hyacinth, middle notes of weeping lime headspace, French mimosa and tuberose, and base notes of cedar wood, orris fusion and musk, it is a fragrance as natural as it is elegant and warm.”

Linden comes across as the first and strongest note. I love it, but was surprised that the rest just blended into, and seemed to become part of, linden. After an hour, it hasn't changed. If you love the fresh, sweet scent of linden, you'll love this, too. Three hours later, mimosa stands out more than it did.

Instant classic, smells exactly like a sunny day in a dewy garden at spring time, chypre for people who dislike chypre. light, airy and refreshingly green in the best way possible, the garden notes are the best recreation of a natural smell ive ever smelled!

I absolutely adore this perfume. Beautifully floral and sweet a truly feminine fragrance that brings to mind warm summer days in an English garden. With a gentle summer breeze wafting the scent of the sweet flowers aloft to the gentle hum of the bees.

Blind bought and I am in total love! Such an elegant but up to date floral perfume! The combination between the linden & mimosa is magnificent! This fragrance creates a beautiful aura,I feel super pretty and happy wearing this ! Spectacular!

this is a beautiful spring fragrance. green trees, yellow flowers. like a luxury English soap. I think this would be a safe blind buy for Mothers day. Ive had one spray on my arm all day and I can still smell it strongly going to bed.

Pretty much the most elegant floral scent I've ever smelled, smells like a rich older lady, 40s and above. The dry down is really beautiful and lasts for a WHILE.

"Highgrove Bouquet" - is one of the most uncomplicated perfumes which sounds like a symphony for an orchestra. Silver lime blossom and geranium make an elegant and golden-powdery entrance, immediately bringing up a vision of a flower-carpeted meadow. Mimosa and tuberose further deepen and expand this impression, creating impressions of lungwort (pulmonaria), clover, bluebells and cow-wheat (it sounds much better in Russian "Ivan and Maria"). This meadow is where one wishes to be lost in for all eternity, under the cerulean sky, busking in the rays of the radiant, loving sun. With song birds fluttering in the air chirping and trilling their tunes for no one's and everyone's pleasure. What could be better? What one could possibly wish for? Orris creates the powderiness of the thousands flowers' pollen, that permeates the air, and mixes with the blooms' aromas. Cedarwood and musks sing of the warm earth under your feet, soft and all-embracing in its warmth and fertility. So there it is - "Highgrove Bouquet" - easy, not trying to re-invent the wheel and so very familiar... And yet, it is also incredibly nostalgic (without feeling vintage or outdated), romantic and meaningful, carrying with it memories of happy days gone by, small joys that are unforgettable and that incredible feeling of being one with something greater and divine, - nature itself, in all her glorious and loving being. "Highgrove Bouquet" is as close to a perfect floral composition that a perfume can aim to be, in my opinion. It caresses one's heart and soul, putting the mind at ease, almost freezing the time itself and allowing its wearer to feel free, joyful and careless, to feel and be young, effortless and honest with oneself and the world, without fear, without judgement of the others, only with love and beauty that one radiates by oneself, - and it is truly resplendent to behold.

Making some notes here for myself. This is slightly fizzy, very sunny, you get a hint of the lime blossom out of the gate (which to me, really reminds me of orange blossom). At random points I get hits of honey. Reminds me of a chypre a vaguely reminds me of another perfume I own, Nuit Caline. The honey element makes me think slightly of soir de lune, but for a way younger crowd; its also much less austere and veers more natural. 6/10 or 7/10 so far upon initial spray, but waiting to see how it develops. Smells like nature. Feels a little more mature, like for a woman in her 30s. Definitely leans unisex, but still feminine. I could see this in spring, summer, and maybe even fall. A couple hours later and I'd keep it at a 7. A really fantastic chypre-esque type, but in my pursuit of a spring wedding perfume I think I will pass. I'd buy for any other occasion though. I prefer this to Daphne bouquet due to the honeyed quality too.

This is a nod to the classic gentleman’s scent. It is fresh, herbal. The first opening is floral but the dissipates quickly then it’s a soft herbal lavender. The longer it sits is becomes more lavender woody. Has a pop of tartness. This is definitely unisex but I can see why many people have scored it on the feminine side as those concepts has changed over the last hundred years. This is not a contemporary masculine spicy scent. This is a cultured classy gentleman or gentlewoman. It is definitely worth testing.

This oddly reminds me of Pure Poison to some small degree, just a little sweeter. It's very gentle and I find it to be favorably feminine. It definitely smells like an English garden. Not so much the flowers, more like the hedges, ponds, and beehives. It isn't too dry on the senses. Up close it smells like soap, but at a short distance it can give off a kind of spongecake aroma. Very pleasant and could make for the perfect wedding scent or garden party scent.

A very floral opening, like in a lushly blooming garden on a warm day, pleasant, sweet, elegant. Quite complex, yet I don't sense this fragrance for very long.

Not fresh at all and not a hint of linden flowers. Very similar to Lilas Persan from Novaya Zarya, slightly more modern maybe, but still a bit musty, leaning towards violets/lilacs rather than yellow flowers, despite these not showing among the notes. I actually prefer Lilas Persan, it has more character, more presence and longevity at a fraction of the cost.

If you love yellow florals and prefer something elegant yet simple, this scent is for you. It's classy and perfect for the mature woman who appreciates minimalist beauty.

This smells to me exactly like an old perfume "Cashmere Bouquet" which is no longer in production. Very powdery, like fragrances my grandmother would wear.

Wonderful feminine floral, then a whole field full of cut grass. Feels very British. Very classical feel, though not outdated.

It’s an ok perfume nothing special. I wanted to like so bad but wasn’t for me. Luna is still my number one from this house

Eh. I like the opening most, it’s a zingy citrus I’ve smelled before. Maybe in elementary, some adult must’ve been wearing something like it. After it settles it’s a spicy soapy and sweet floral. It simultaneously has some savoriness. There’s just a quality of it that reminds me of vomit. When florals are too sharp, I get this stomach acid image. I don’t seem to like mimosa, just the concept of it, and this take on cedar is too smokey. Glad I got to sample this, but it’s far from great on me.

Highgrove Bouquet, by Penhaligon's, smells like yellow flower nectar. It smells exactly like Tilia, by Marc-Antoine Barrois, only without the metallic background scent that is in it. To me, this makes Highgrove Bouquet smell better and more delicious then Tilia, even though I love Tillia too for it's contrasting metal scent. Highgrove Bouquet, just like Tilia, does not smell like linden tree blossom. It has the vibe of linden, but not the realistic scent. My search for a realistic linden blossom perfume continues. Or maybe I should accept that this is the closest that I'm going to get?

There is orris in the base notes along with the cedar which is not listed. Although I do not get any mimosa in the opening, it emerges after a few minutes. A beautiful honeyed accord of fuzzy yellow flowers with pollen. I like how someone else described this as a shape-shifting perfume because it truly is. The orris-cedar drydown is quite pleasant and mellow and lasts for hours. Overall a joyous and uplifting scent so I don’t understand reviews that say that this is melancholic. Edit: I bought this for myself as a unisex scent but my husband is the one who wears it most often!

I bought the body lotion formulation of this fragrance, and I would love to have a full bottle of this EdP. Even a couple of pumps of the body lotion lasts all day. As a child I read "The Secret Garden" a million times and smelling this transported me to what I imagined the splendor of an English garden in full bloom might be like to experience. I can't believe the fragrance profile is so simple, only three notes? It smells like a symphony of blooms under gentle, warm sunshine. As others have mentioned this smells very posh and expensive.

JUICY YELLOW FLORALS🏵 OH my goodness- the sillage is just absolutely extravagant! I tend to sometimes be afraid of wearing florals with my skin since I could smell like an old granny. But this- this is how a rich British Royal would smell like, super juicy and baroquely posh🇬🇧 After an hour- what is mesmerizing is that it turns like a floral vanilla with a hint of creamsicle🍦 Super long lasting and I am planning to wear it during the transition from spring🍃to summer☀️ Absolutely exquisite for a floral! Bubbly, soapy and creamy scent. It has that soapy and creamy profile that comes with the yellow flowers. It starts green, bubbly and strong and takes some time for the mimosa to appear. After a few minutes that green and sour scent calms down a little and becomes a quite realistic floral that reminds me a of the smell of pollen. The dry down is so creamy and yellow. It mantains that powdery and bright/golden note. Very elegant and classy. To me is a golden late spring evening in the opening and a summer night in the dry down.

This is an excellent reproduction of a green English garden in spring and early summer. The linden blossom reminds of walking through the parks of London, and the mimosa is gentle and powdery (not that j noticed much mimosa on my walks). It is overall a gentle, green and herbaceous fragrance which is unisex and perfect for spring and summer. This is much more of a wellness perfume to me than the recent potions and remedies collection. The best release by Penhaligons in ages.

absolutely gorgeous. this fragrance shifts and evolves in the most beautiful way. it truly feels like wearing a fresh bouquet. the opening is all about that delicate lime blossom (which i have a soft spot for) then a few minutes in ur hit with a soft yet full mimosa bloom that takes center stage on my test strip it’s lasted over 18 hours and now it’s settled into this airy n clean blend of mimosa n cedar. nothing is overdone just a perfectly balanced composition <3

I bought Luna and they gave me sample of this. By the time I got home Luna turned into a sticky oily plasticky smell but this bloomed beautiful as yellow florals. I so wanted to buy Ginestra by Santa Maria Novella because I wanted a yellow florals but I think it has been discontinued so this turned out to be the perfect substitute. I went back and exchanged Luna for this! Will do it any day.

After testing this in a Penhaligon’s store, I walked around for a week smelling the arm of my sweater for traces. They were there. Sweet, hazy and warm. I bought a whole bottle tonight. This is what children imagine bees smell like. This is like the idea of wildflowers- the whole concept of them- including the sun setting on a field of them, streaking their heads with black and gold.

For me this is the best release from Penhaligons since Sohan. It is a truly beautiful scent that harks back to Blenheim but only better. If it reminds me of anything else it would be Fleur de Cassie from FM. A very English Aroma.

Highgrove Bouquet is a very mimosa but old-fashioned fragrance. It could have been made in the 60ties as well. Mimosa - Lime blossom combo strong and natural. Grand grandmother smell.

Smells like spring, the linden could perhaps be toned down a little but the opening doesn't last long enough to matter

It’s smells nice and fresh good for day but something in it has a seaweed smell that ruins it for me
