Etude 1.4: Le Goût

I feel like a honey glazed ham wearing this. In the best possible way, please bear with me. The main note is honey, and it persists. It's beautiful and almost too realistic, but I think that gives the scent it's character. It's not just delicious, there's something uncanny to it too that keeps it very interesting. At times the honey morphs into a sunny off-brand Coke, but it always lands back on rich, fresh honey drizzled over ripe fruits. I think there might be a side of dessert cheeses close by as well. Le Gout plays with the concept of indulgence, traversing the line between the gourmet and the glutton. Longevity is very good, and it sits nicely at arms lenght. Don't overspray it, however, because it will tip over into the sickening side very fast, like a charkuterie board forgotten in the sun. Truly unisex, Le Gout is beyond gender, because who doesn't smell good covered in honey?

This perfume is incredible, and exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a strong fig fragrance that focused on the ripe fruit, rather than being overly green or woody. Le Goût is a gourmand fragrance and opens with pure, perfectly ripe fig doused in honey, with just a hint of sea salt to balance the sweetness. Over time, it gradually evolves into a boozy dark chocolate scent with a tiny bit of paprika - very reminiscent of a bolder, more mature and better lasting Gourmand Coquin. Excellent lasting power (1 spray at the wrists early in the morning will easily last 2-3 days) and good sillage; although it won't overwhelm a room, it will be picked up on within 1-2 metres or so. As a huge fig fan, I'm absolutely obsessed with this one.

Beautiful, rich gourmand without being too heavy.

To me it opens very similar to Naxos.

Cinnamon-salt sprinkled, thick honey layered ripe fig. Dense but not heavy. Beautiful and harmonious gourmand composition. I am not getting exactly the rum but the alcohol note is similar in Angel’s Share (cognac + cinnamon) and honey in the Slowdive Hiram. Very underrated IMO and I’m glad to have it in my wardrobe.

Rum, honey, a bit of spice. Richly sweet tamed by patchouli. Only one thought came to mind the moment I sprayed this, "Vampire." The dark, dangerous quality comes from an herbal, medicinal type patchouli. You put this on when you want to feel powerful. When the Sun goes down, transforming into your true form, and the opinions of meer mortals don't concern you. Sexy. Makes me want to bite somebody with consent.

Found my first impression notes from Dec 2020: Rum, Steampunk, Jules Verne, Discovery of Witches, 19th Century pharmacy, old books, copper (as a color). Weirdly very pleasant, dark but airy. I also get some tar. Starts with dusk and dries down to cool beautiful dawn. Bewitching.
