SoBold Intense

So Bold Intense is the second release in Pepe Jeans’ So Bold line. When the original So Bold launched, it largely escaped my attention: a fresh, floral, clean composition with barbershop undertones—competent, modern, and aromatic, yet not especially compelling to my taste. It struck me as a contemporary aromatic fougère, polished but predictable. By chance, at the end of summer, I came across it heavily discounted at DM: the 30 ml bottle for under €15. That discovery prompted me to sample the Intense version—and what a surprise it was. This is not merely a louder or darker take on the original, but a fragrance that stands firmly on its own, belonging to an entirely different olfactory family. Here we move into oriental leather territory, with sweet, spicy accents and a warm, enveloping character. From that moment on, I kept an eye on online deals and in-store promotions until, last week, I once again found So Bold Intense at DM at the same favourable price. I am pleased to have added this small collector’s format to my shelf. While the bottle faithfully mirrors the larger sizes, the cap conceals rather than integrates the sprayer—a minor quibble, as what truly matters is the juice inside. Intense opens with an airy yet sharp burst—hardly a prelude to the depth implied by its name. Aldehydes and citrus deliver a brisk flash of freshness, lending the composition a light, almost transparent lift. Gradually, a gentle powderiness begins to emerge, closer to violet leaf than iris: dusty rather than cosmetic, dry without any make-up sheen. As the volatile top notes recede, cool-toned lavender and supple leather take centre stage, introducing an immediate sense of seduction and quiet strength. A restrained sweetness rises and expands, gently steering the scent towards warmer, subtly gourmand territory. As the dry-down unfolds, Intense grows fuller in warmth and sweetness, becoming increasingly comforting, with an unmistakable oriental nuance. Roasted tonka and resinous amber appear to anchor this phase. Worn close to the skin, the fragrance settles into a delicate, clean, softly powdery veil—likely shaped by white musk or similar musky notes. Sillage is moderate, with average longevity. Its ambered warmth makes it particularly well suited to the colder months, from late autumn through early spring. While ideal for evenings and night-time wear, it also feels perfectly at ease during unhurried, relaxed days, like Xmas holidays. This review is based on a bottle I’ve owned since December 2025

This scent is a perfect example of something being slept on by the bulk of the buying public and the fragcomm folk. I got this in two weeks ago, since I had the itch to add a new fall/winter frag for the upcoming seasonal change on my side of the world. I was intrigued by it after seeing a couple brief online review mentions along with researching the notes - which also check all of the boxes for the type of profile that I prefer. I am floored by how high the quality is on this, along with the amazing longevity and strong sillage and projection! I bought this as a 100ml tester on Jomashop for only $28, and this stuff punches WAY above its weight class. The last time I was this impressed with a sub-30 dollar fragrance, was when I purchased Joop Le Parfum. SoBold Intense gives me an easy 10-12 hours of strong performance. After 12 hours, it fades, but I could still smell it on me the next morning when the hot shower water started to hit my neck. It projects at least three arms lengths out for 3+ hours, and leaves a very solid sillage trail during that time. It doesn't fade to less than an arms length until maybe the 8th or 10th hour. In today's current market that is offering insanely overpriced new releases that don't have the performance and quality to match their asking prices, this is a wonderful breath of fresh air.

Very much in the same vein of Invictus Victory Elixir, great performance and a very reasonable price, what's not to like here? PS. Joop! Homme Absolute has a completely different smell, stop smoking crack, it clogs your nose and burns your receptors there, making you compare chocolate with manure.

Totally powerhouse. The scent is so bold indeed, it overplays all over fragrances around. And it last until you destroy the thing it sit on. Haha. It lasts for weeks on clothes, on body until you wash. It is also nice scent. Im quite vulnerable to too strong scents which could make me feel dizzy etc. but this is not the case for this. Very comfortable and pleasurable. The longer you wear it, the nicer it is and the more you like it. Don't judge off the top notes. I think it's more for night and winter/fall, but its easy to get on with for anything. Most of the Pepe Jeans fragrances are expensive. But they are also strong and long lasting, and this one is the most

I really liked the original version and had hopes that this version would keep the 2000s vibe but smell like a sweet modern perfume. My expectations were not met. I like the brand but I really didn't like this perfume. After a while it smells like sweet plasticine

Decided to test it at a perfumes shop based on the hype here, not nearly as good as described, smells cheap and even unpleasant most of the lifespan of the fragrance
