Whisky

I was really curious to try this brand. I don't use cocaine, so their best-known perfume did nothing for me, but this one I found quite striking. It is a photorealistic scent of an elderly gentleman who has brought you to his home after a night out and a few drinks. And now, when your nose brushes against his neck or face, you can smell on him a whisky he's just had, the evening he spent in a jazz club, and a cigarette he had outside the club before going home with you. It's a very sexy smell and it tells a story of a person. I find it fascinating and evocative, but it seems totally unwearable, in the sense that I'm not sure how or when or where one might want to wear something like this. More than an artistic fragrance, it's a wearable artwork. It's not really a perfume, it is a scent of a lifestyle. Why would one want to smell like a man who drinks and smokes and hangs out in bars, if one wasn't actually living like that? It's the sort of scent one acquires, not buys. The only possibilities that come to mind would be if one were an actor in some sort of very close-up theatre performance, or a conman.

A full bodies scent! A burnt rich sexy smell with a spicier element that almost catches in your throat, like its namesake drink. The smokiness is quite realistic , like that of a nice aged peaty scotch. But as the scent dries down it changes. Dried fruit notes, complex vanillas and that of a rich head port all slowly come through. This fragrance changed so much from the initial spray to its final note. It takes you on a journey from harsh smokiness, to a warm sweetness. Much like a good Whiskey its mature, sexy, complex and powerful.

It’s giving...“Barrel-chested single dad who’s just trying to get back out there.” Rosier on paper, but a cinna-bomb on the skin, Whisky is a spice-forward fragrance that’s kinda hot in more ways than one 🫣 Along with the cinnamon, there’s a mildly camphorous, Vapor Rub-feel that I imagine is the juniper berries. It really does connote an aged, dark liquor with the rum and oud. Money Water (from the summer collection) and Whisky (from the winter collection) feel like two sides of the same coin. Where MW was suave and in-the-know, Whisky is stoic and confident. Whisky gets its sex appeal from being the strong silent type. Like a scruffy, Southern dad(dy) who put on his best flannel for a date.
