Blyss

When I first got this fragrance a couple years ago when it first came out I thought it was really lovely. I wore it a few times then got sort of distracted by others things as most of us tend to do. Recently I ran across it in “the hoard” and thought wow I haven’t worn this ages and realized it had turned an amber color which makes any perfume more appealing to me, it gives it such a richness. So, I decided to wear it again and see if the scent had changed at all. And the opening is a full on wow, Blyss is absolutely gorgeous to me now. Not just nice, not just lovely, but a really beautiful creation. Everything about it now is richer and more full, it has more depth. It’s also extremely potent and long lasting, nearly pulling 24 hours on my skin. It has an almost white chocolate feel to it now (although it isn’t in it) coming from the orris somehow I think, and the whole fragrance feels sweeter with the fruits and florals blending into that creaminess, with almost a gentle muskiness, and everything is in perfect harmony. I feel Blyss leans feminine, as it should since it was made as a love letter in scented form for Perfumology owner Nir Guy’s wife Lyssa (hence the spelling). What a lovely and romantic gesture. I smell most all of the notes with the plum and apple being most noticeable but with so much more going on. Something about it reminds me of happy feelings, childhood, being in love, and everything being right in the world. Maybe I need to wear this more often.

Sniffed today and loved this scent. If it wasn't for their new release "Grange" being more appealing to my style, would've walked home with this. It is a feminine leaning unisex that a man can handle well. The top is super fruity, and that non-cloying fruity sweetness is carried through the mid with a introduction of beautiful florals. This is well blended, so discerning notes is hard with the exception of green apple peels and plum (to my nose). The florals are neither sharp nor dry, and work beautifully with the scent. If you find yourself in the King Of Prussia mall, stop by and visit Nir at Perfumology: he is a great man with a passion for scents and will help you find anything from his unique selection. If you don't find yourself in KOP, still seek this out!

I ordered something from Perfumology (online) and I got a sample of this one. However it's sold out and now I'm sad. It is beautiful. I would have bought a 50ml right away. The best green apple/plum/apple cider perfume. On a floral background. Non synthetic. Just these pure notes. It's young (but not juvenile), cheerful, fresh. Has some sort of effervescence to it. That reminds it a quite good sparkling apple cider, unsweetened. The one you buy at farmer's market. It might be more a Summer/Spring perfume but I would wear this all year long. Grey and cold Winters sometimes require cheerful late-Summer scents. It is quite a surprise because this is really not something that I would be interested into. They did an excellent job at making this one.

Blyss is a clever scent. It starts out with a beautiful orange note intermixed with the apple. The white plum gives it some sweetness to balance out the tarty opening. Im sensitive to patchouli and its very evident its a player from the first spray, and sniff. The Ylang keeps this full bodied and soft, the rose and jasmine in the heart is beautiful. Typical fruitchouli this is not. The base stirs and the bitter starchy orris cuts through the earthy patchouli. Amber adds some warmth and sweetness. Sometimes you get mystery whiffs of a chocolate patchouli and vanilla. Its not thin (thank god) and it has the right amount of depth. A wonderful buy, and addition to any modern wardrobe. Its really charming.

What to say about Blyss, When I spray it on, I get a heavy dose of Plum. After a few minutes, there is this very elegant smell of Bulgarian Rose that just blends in with Jasmine so perfectly. The Patchouli and Amber creep in slowly after an hour or so with the Plum still going strong. All around this is solid scent for a woman in her mid to late twenties and above. It is perfect for a business casual to formal event, however, it could be worn as an every day scent. Very long lasting and it is not too strong that it will offend. Excellent job to Justin Federico on this composition, and to Nir Guy for his business and creativity.

I love this. And, that's coming from someone who hates fruity scents. I don't get the florals in this at all. The plum is prominent with the apple in the top. It almost smells like a very dry pear cider. It has almost a fruity aquatic feel in the top. Then, as it starts to hit the middle, I get grass. Juicy green grass and amber. In the base the patch rises in a minty/menthol and musk way. It's sweet all the way through but not gourmand. Definitely unisex if you like slightly sweet fruity frags. As this perfume has aged and mascerated, it has developed a spicy quality to it. Just lovely.

I love this fragrance. Great plum note. Cuts through the cold air (30 degrees and below) like a knife.

I did a first impression w/ this gem

Blyss is so lovely and femenine. I tried it few times and I am wearing it now. Here where I am its getting very hot, and its a perfect perfume for this weather. It was a blind buy, the packaging is also lovely. Today is little bit more fresh and wundy and the breeze helps me To appreciate this lovely scent. I think you can wear it in hot or coolee days but definitely I love it for spring summer. At first spray ir was fuzzy and I thought it was champagne, a fruit cocktail. I could smell the apple, plum somehow peary ... very fruity. But then it dries down and its so soft creamy. I dont get the wood, orris, patchouli at all thanks God as I dont like strong Patchouli. But here is as it describes fruity, sweet and yellow floral, I dont get citrus at all. Its a lovely combination cant stop sniffing my wrist. Somehow it smells different on my clothe and my skin. Inlike it more on my skin. On my clothe I get more floral and is bit more strong. On my skin is softer and creamier. Its soft and I never smelled something similar. Its very lovely and femenine to me. And it doesnt give headache, its a blyss in a bottle!

In the heat it smells of peach ice tea and I would give it a 7.5/10 but when it cold out it becomes something else that I can’t explain the peach ice tea is there but a sparkly Effervescence added that makes it so much better 8.8/10

Transports me to a sunny Spring picnic in a fruit orchard, sat on a crisp linen blanket with fresh cut flowers

I wanted a less decadent version of Mark Jacobs’s Decadence, which I liked and saw a review recommending this as an alternative plum fragrance to MJ’s. So I blind bought it. I wish I had just gotten a sample instead. The plum is overpowering and I don’t smell much else, maybe musk. At least Decadence had dimension to it. Blyss is almost nauseating to me.

I’m jealous of those who are getting something fruity from this. On me it’s all floral all the way. And that is never a scent I’d do on purpose. But I’m totally wowed by both Grange and Clutch so I’m happy I tried some samples from this perfumer.

An intensely fruity and sweet fruity floral. It's like a hyperrealistic focus on the genre, with everything souped up and so clear, like stepping into sunlight and blue skies from a dark house. I smell crisp apple, with that unique tart twist that apple has. I feel like I even smell apple blossom, there is a light green/fresh element to this that screams spring. The apple and a hint of fresh orange oil are the only things pulling away from the sweetness in here. Sweet, sugary plum is here to play, and the floral note I smell most prominently is rose. Super sweet, pink rose on steroids. Pink petals encrusted with sugar. And jasmine, clean and again, SWEET. It is a beautiful perfume, and very unique, if a little sweet for my taste. It doesn't really smell like the fragrances mentioned in the "reminds me of" section, I haven't smelled anything that really smells like this. I mean, I guess it's a sweet, fruity rose, like Delina, and it has sweet musky plum, like Decadence, but does it smell like exactly like either of those? Not really, or at least not entirely. In the mid, it does start to resemble 1969, the amber and patchouli with fruits warming up into a blend that is similar to the peach-chocolate riff of 1969, but the green jasmine and apple are still there, pulling a little tart and fresh, so it doesn't quite deepen to that level. The best way I could describe it is that Blyss pulls like each of these three fragrances at different moments throughout its development, but as soon as you sniff one out, that facet will hide and another will show its face, possibly none of the above mentioned facets. My favorite saccharine sweet floral is Gucci Flora, so I will stick with that one - but you like your fruity florals sweet and interesting, Blyss is a great find. It applies strong, almost overwhelmingly so because of the sweet nature of the perfume, but I find that it actually does not last long on my skin. Maybe 3 hours or so? Might be better on clothing.

I had the pleasure of meeting Nir in the Perfumology shop located in Philly. If you're in the area, definitely give him a visit. He's very friendly, welcoming, and the man knows his perfumery. Blyss ... oh man. This is one of those few that I immediately fell in love with at first sample. My nose did not have the time to gather all of the note breakdowns - it was that good. It's very fresh, floral (but not overdone) it has a tinge of sweetness to it. It's alluring, deep, rich. Some may believe this to be a female Parfum but it is totally unisex in my opinion. A confident man can pull this off. He was not lying when he said that this fragrance was a love letter to his wife, for there is a lot of love put into it. Performance is exemplary - even after a good shower I can still catch a skin scent of it.

Not at all fond of the current tsunami of fruity florals that gut the market these days, but this is something different, something special, something in a class of it's own. So well blended that I find it hard to separate the notes. Initially I get a bright, almost ozonic yet slightly tannic scent of fresh apple peels which blends beautifully with the heady florals of Jasmine, Ylang, and Rose. It is a bright, clean, optimistic fragrance, given just the right cushion of warmth from Orris, Patchouli, and Amber. The florals become more lush as the apple settles. Projects beautifully. Unlike anything in my collection and truly lovely. A beautiful love letter from Nir Guy to his wife.

AppleyFloral and Semi Sweet to start.......And though that CUTE....for a female, a male may be turned of initially like I was. But then after after about an hour......WE HAVE TAKEOFF!! Not sure how you get this beautiful woody gourmandy sniff at the end.....BUT it happen. The first thing I smelled was a warm and creamy chocolate. That disappeared quickly and was followed by a beautiful lily and creamy vanilla. I don't detect any of the fruity notes listed. The overall effect is warm and soft, a little earthy and a little woody. Different and very nice.

What a lovely fruity rose! The full-bodied rose stands out to me the most in the opening. Very feminine, lovely, easy to wear. Beautiful! Would love to swap something on my "haves" list for anyone interested! :)

This reminds me of something I wore in the late 90s. Maybe a mix of DK So Delicious and J'adore by Dior...maybe neither? Either way, it's nostalgic for me. Pretty but slightly dated.
