Absolue d’Osmanthe

A very warm, resinous, honeyed osmanthus scent, as expected from the name. The plum adds additional fruitiness, the labdanum and tolu balsam, warmth, resinous, leathery facets. In order to fully appreciate Absolue d’Osmanthe you need to like equally osmanthus flowers and ambers/resins. These two accords play an essential part in the way that the fragrance smells, especially in the dry down. As with the rest of Black Collection of Perris Monte Carlo, the performance is top notch. It’s the kind of fruity floral scent that it’s more fitting for spring and fall wear, thanks to the considerable amounts of vanilla, amber and balsamic nuances. This is a very rich, complex, sweet, daring scent that might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re interested in osmanthus, or an apricots fan, you’re in for a treat with Absolue d’Osmanthe! I got my bottle during Black Friday sale for literally half price off, so I could not be happier with it! Phenomenal, unique smelling, good performer perfume, full package served by Perris Monte Carlo as usual.

I got a chance to try this today after eager anticipation. So far, I'm not disappointed, but will have to wear it for a bit. So far: Strong apricot, suede facets, and sandalwood. I even thought I smelled white wine for a bit in the early stages. In a side by side, Auphorie Miyako is rougher hewn, especially in the opening, which I like, but find the sandalwood to be too pungent and unrelenting-smelling at times like ripe cheese. This perfume is smoother and more delicate in comparison, but comes quite close to Miyako in character, without the sharpness. The edges are smoothed by bits of vanilla and Amber, neither super obvious in and of themselves. I really like both, but Miyako remains in the realm of greatly admire. The Perris I can see wearing out of the house. I sampled the extrait, but I believe the black bottles are EDP. It smells like high quality materials. I agree with LANIER in that this is really a standout from their line, and I do like several of their scents.

The opening is very honey-sweet. The dry down is sexy and feminine, a little resinous and powdery, and somehow gives me a Middle Eastern vibe (labdanum?). I have osmanthus dried flower tea and live osmanthus plants in my yard, and I can say that this perfume does not resemble real flowers very well. However, my nose cannot get enough of it and it has become my bedtime fragrance. Every time I enter my bedroom, I want to take a deep breath of the smell and smile. One spray on my bedsheet lasts several days. My children don't like perfume and love the smell of fresh nature instead, but they actually like this one (Another one they like from Perris Monte Carlo is Mimosa Tanneron, which really smells like nature). I am not sure how I can wear it outside because I feel that it is too sweet for my nerdy serious personality, but I may get a full size just for the good mood it gives me.

Interestingly I was neutral about the opening— I was thinking it was a skanky patchouli but it’s not listed— as I found it a bit rough, like turpentine mixed with an earth smell. But Absolue d’Osmanthe is a real shape shifter, and within an hour it morphs into a smooth beautiful osmanthus amber scent. It was such a radical change from the opening that i momentarily forgot what I was wearing. Perris Monte Carlo is a house that flies under the radar for a lot of people. I think, at the very least, they take risks that other established and more celebrated houses don’t. Not everyone is going to like this perfume, many will dismiss it for the opening—which was not terrible in my opinion, but it is very interesting and on the challenging side. I loved the drydown so much that this perfume is between a like and a love.

Absolue d'osmanthe is a very powerful "hallucinogen" ... just a few drops of it and the intense fruity aroma of osmanthus envelops me and catapults me in exotic places: suddenly I am lying in a forest of blooming osmanthus trees next to the bark of plants with unknown names from which balsamic and hypnotic resins exude. A wonderful creation that persuades and seduces you. This has a warm, balsamic opening, that reminds me of some incense, or a complex aged rum agricole. The rose keeps it sharp, in the background, and prevents it from becoming too sweet. The jasmine gives it a tiny bit of skank, but it's barely perceptible. It's a shifting scent that settles on a very amber-y, almost mineral scent (I get those who smell burnt rubber). The resinous, sweet base is very beautiful. This reminds me of Hermes' Ambre Narguile. Great scent, completely unisex.

"opening is very bad". oh yeah, smelling like a super fruity sweet amber is BAD, truly. it opens up gorgeous, very sweet, deep, fruity, rich. Similar to Widian's fragrances, specially Al Wasi, very similar sweetness and scent overall to Al Wasi. Smells like a rich bubblegum like James Heeley's Bubblegum Chic, that style. It's overall just a super fruity, deep rich floral amber. Mass appealing as heck.

My first impression after wearing it for a week: The most beautiful fragrance yet from Perris Monte Carlo, an intoxicating and intriguing blending of notes with the Sandalwood taking the lead. A dreamy, shadowy beauty that works it’s magic on the skin and transported me to a world of sensual abandon. Full review to come later but just had to share my thoughts at this moment. Very realistic osmanthus blossom plus something that my nose interprets as leather. Animalic, strong, thick leather. I gotta say, this smells amazing, very creamy and soft but it is strong at the same time. I find it amazing, but i would never wear it because it is way too animalic to me. Maybe just at home or if I have to go somewhere alone. Still, i LOVE it.

This is such a beautiful perfume! I absolutely love the amber accords. They are rich, well projecting and interesting. Mainly I smell the tolu and the labdanum. Osmanthus is also such a beautiful note to use. It goes super well with ambers and creates a very cozy atmosphere. I agree that I can also hear the peachy plum accord, similar the ones found in wine.

Thick balsamic take on osmanthus. This screams hot summer and heavily blooming trees of osmanthus and animalic Jasmine. It is dense, sweet, almost hyper realsitic Acacia honey, it really reminds me this type of honey. Very "yellow" fragrance. Dries down to this beautiful, slightly tropical floral and jasmine. Not for me but very, very well done.

Fruity sweet amber, that's it. It's floral, fruity and ambery. No smoke. No oud. No animalic Jasmine (ass smell), nothing of it.

This is just lovely. SWEET osmanthus and jasmine almost like a ylang meets tuberose with a bit of a twist; this has an dark, almost golden scent that is very rich and bordering on boozy with a grassy and fruity note

I thought it was honey here. Amazing perfume, got a sample and ordering a full bottle. To me it smells like honeyed osmanthus. Warm, cuddly, grown up, no shampoo detected.

Some guy said animalic jasmin. I don't smell indolic jasmin in here, and I HATE indolic jasmine. This is mass appealing, so it can't be.

Profumo molto buono e potentissimo

Osmanthus is just impossible. I keep searching for a truly literal tea olive but so far I haven’t found it outside the October-blooming plant. Absolue d’Osmanthe is a Monet impression of osmanthus to Miyako’s Picasso. It’s gentle, never strident, and perhaps a little more realistic, if less arresting. Osmanthe Yunnan is lovely and achingly quiet, but sometimes it just too spare for me. I keep returning to Absolue d’Osmanthe for a solid osmanthus fix without the room-clearing presence of my true favorite, Miyako.

It is a very balmy way to present osmanthus absolute. The light, yellow scent is present immediately, however it is drowned in a flood of balsamic notes - really warm and oriental. After an hour or three the scent calms down, and the clean, sunny osmanthus becomes invincible - floral and gentle with the supporting power of jasmine. Interesting

Warm, sweet and woody, like a meditation or an altar offering in a far-off temple. Very exotic - Aztec, Inca, or somewhere in the East - Himalayas, Cambodia, Western China. It is quite masculine I find. A beautiful fragrance but not for every day. Long lasting.

The scent on my skin smells similar to Miyako by Auphorie but more on the labdanum / animalic side. There is a distinctive scent of osmanthus in the beginning, but what stays longer are the exotic scent base. A good match for cold autumn / winter days.

Green peaches with incense on gourmand vanilla base that appear after 2 hours. Lovely, but note of incense is little bit rough for me in this perfume and gives it “dry” feeling. I’d prefer “Good Girls Gone Bad Extreme” instead

The first 30 minutes are very woody and smokey. After 30 minutes, osmanthus becomes more apparent. For some reason, my husband says cotton candy scent.

Absolue d'Osmanthe is a fancy pants version of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's Depraved. That one had a very simple note breakdown. It was either patchouli apricot or patchouli peach. I went through a 5ml bottle of it years ago. I remember it well, but it's still only a memory. Now that I've worn this one a couple of times it's grown on me. I don't LOVE love it. But I don't hate it anymore either. Patchouli doesn't appear to be a listed note, but it seems to me to be the main player in the opening. And it's good old fashioned patchouli, unlike the vanillic patchouli I expect from modern patchouli offerings. It's just not what I was expecting from something called Absolue d'Osmanthe. The osmanthus seems incidental until later in the drydown--and even then it's fleeting. The thing I'm calling patchouli in the opening does seem more like an unsweetened labdanum in the far drydown. In all I'm glad I gave it multiple chances. It's given me a newfound appreciation for patchouli and stone fruit pairings. So much so that I revisited Tom Ford's Bitter Peach--another perfume that read to me as overwhelmingly patchouli, the peach being too vague to even register as peach. I swore up, down, left and right that it was awful and totally not for me. But now that I've had my adventure with Absolue d'Osmanthe I can appreciate Bitter Peach. I even picked up a travel size. I probably don't really need a full size of Absolue d'Osmanthe, but I'll be keeping it anyway.

Un osmanthus chaud , résineux , fleuri et boisé en fond. Habituellement l'osmanthus est associé aux parfum aérien , frais , fruité ... Mais ici il est plus boisé , résineux et c'est clairement un parfum chaud et enveloppant. C'est beau et d'une superbe qualitée La tenue sur ma peau est par contre médiocre... Un peu mieux sur vêtements. Totalement unisexe

326 Suede apricot-ish floral scent. It’s a touch smoky and the suede is stronger than the fruity floral scent of the flower. It’s not complex. I prefer Mirabella from Dsh for a more complex osamanthus fragrance. 4/10-not for me

I am very ambivalent about this one. I am experiencing leather hiding in the background behind sweet florals other than that 🤷🏼

This is very leathery on my skin and I am not a great fan of leathery notes.

Not floral. Very animalic. "burning manure" + plastic apricote soap note.

Osmanthus and... plastic jam. The synthetic here took another, unpleasant level. My stomach churned! It also irritated my skin which never happened with any other other fragrance. Buy testers! Odd, uncomfortably so. Nope for me.

I was really excited about this since osmanthus is one of my favorite flowers, but turned out to be quite a disappointment because the smell is rather generic and the quality is somewhere between Good Girls Gone Bad (Kilian) and Roger & Gallet. If this is your cup of tea I strongly encourage you to try the Extrait version--it's a better fragrance with the addition of rose. This is how they get you: 1. Present 2 lines (one being the "luxury" edition, which is what they really want to sell). 2. Purposely holding back on the quality & ingenuity of the cheaper line while giving you a taste of their true intention. 3. Leave you half-way satisfied so you'd justify spending more on the other version later-on. (At this point some are already brainwashed into thinking this is the best option available while overlooking other fragrances from other houses.)

Wow! This has a very intense opening. Skanky. It reminds me of Zerjoff Zanzibar but without the steaming pile of manure at the start. It does smell golden. Fruity and floral notes are equal. Equal amounts of osmanthus and the Indian jasmine. I think it's the jasmine indoles that gave me that skanky opening. Thankfully that eases off quite a bit with time. I've got to admit that after half an hour or so there is quite a resemblance to a certain alien fragrance but it doesnt last long. I do like how the sandalwood and resins give that warm and substantial base to the floral notes. The tolu balsam really stands out now and hangs onto the end. It is a lovely fragrance once the skank eases off. Too much suede for me to feel comfortable with. I get moderate longevity and sillage.

Absolue d'Osmanthe is a very waxy perfume, ...the entire scent feels embedded in such wax, like a candle. If you seek a fragrance similar to that of actual Osmanthus fragrans blossoms, either fresh or dried, ...this is not it. Instead, thick resins, such as tolu and labdanum, both lead and dominate here. Any other notes, be they of flowers or fruit, ...or even sandalwood and vanilla, only appear as heavily coated in resinously fragrant and pitch-like, ambery wax. The effect is not unpleasant, ...indeed, it is rather narcotically intriguing in a sultry, heavy-lidded way, ...but it certainly comes across as heavy and fabricated, ...any sense of nature has been highly modified So nevermind osmanthus, ...file this one near your ambers, balms, resins, and incenses.

On a border of darkness and light.Golden,fruity tones of osmanthus are hidden behind sensual,almost indolic jasmine. First moments are white flowery and a bit skanky. Absolue d`Osmanthe opens with burnt and a bit sweet tones -I guess it`s tolu balm. It appears in a good company of labdanum with its reflexive power. Osmanthus is playing hide -and -seek with it. After an hour the door is opened: creamy sandalwood sits on your skin to take you to the journey to the East.Dreaming and imaginative one.

I agree with the majority of the reviews, a very beautiful perfume, with a strong prevalence of woody and balsamic notes and a background of osmanthus, a well-made perfume, at times after hours the typical smell of the osmanthus flower reaches my nose again, therefore fruity it doesn't have any evolution and it lasts about 4/5 hours on my skin, all in all I think it's fine as it is, I find it perfect for spring or autumn

Very pretty! I mostly perceive a very sweet apricot, amber, vanilla and white floral notes, I don't get too much of the sandalwood and labdanum. The scent is potent and very feminine. It has a phase that for some reason reminds me of a big tuberose scent like Fracas, but last just a few minutes. Full bottle worthy, it goes to my want list.

Opening is very bad. Woods and what? Like two worlds crashing. After two hours, osmanthus is actually there. I really like it, but I can't stand the beginning. Don't stick your nose onto the spot. Just catch the whiffs, they are actually nice. But for me it is still not worth it.

Pretty much classic get down around the Sandalwood, think Santal Complet direction, hits so well, sheer cozy straight from opening, nice display and shape shifting, looking to activate the Labdanum and Plum in this.

very balsam-heavy! definitely some jasmine and sandalwood in there too, but balsam kind of overpowers all top notes, so I am not getting any plum. pretty good for those who enjoy balsam in warm weather

Peachy osmanthus on a base of amber notes which makes this dense rather than light, airy and tea-like as osmanthus fragrances tend to be. It's inoffensive and fruity, with medium longevity.

Peach/plum opening. White florals/jasmine. Tea. Rather feminine. Calming, relaxing. The more it gets, the more it smells fruity juicy plum which I like. Byredo Pulp like.

Got a 5ml sample from Bloomingdales, nice sandlewood drydowm a touch fruity. I like it. Will give overall rating after a few more wearings.

Very well made fragrance but the floral notes are to dominant for my taste. Wont buy after using the sample.
