Ambre Gris

This is a very powerful perfume in every sense and at the same time it's not aggressive. No, it doesn't smell like Alyssa Ashley. They are maybe conceptually similar and similar bottles but I have both on different wrist and AA is a pain for nose and heart compared to Perris. Not bad in itself (much better than AA White Musk), but more or less like thinking that TBS White Musk smells like real musk. not even remotely. Since all perfumes that features ambergris are kind of fake, one need to find the best fake out. Perris Ambre Gris is a very good one if you are looking for a raw amber, not too well-educated, polite powdery feminine ambers. Not masculin nor feminine, it's more of a primitive scent but so damn good on skin. It's a mysterious scent, you cannot really catch it. As soon as I sprayed it from my sample I felt a little bit over the top and it definetely has mood changing quality. I wanted to swing and dance! It lasted more than 6 hours and it is still going in the background. Very warm, somehow comforting like having a bear fur. Perfect for a cold rainy day, I'm not sure if the beast could come out in the heat or a crowded sweaty club, like Musc Ravageur did to me. I'm on a fence with it, because I like it a lot still it's not what I need, not completely. It doesn't smell like a perfume to me. It's more of a smell that triggers a instict response. I'm charmed by it's complexity of notes and straight result: raw amber from close, other notes from a distance. It's all packed together. I can vaguely smell the labdanum and a hint of geranium, but the other beautiful listed notes just go into the whole. Powerful yet not a brick on your head, not perfumey at all. This is the only one I tested from this line. It was recommended by one of the few SAs I trust. Of course, I could not afford it, but I got a sample. I need more time to try and understand it and see what others might think. I wouldn't be surprised if it smelled attractive to some and repulsive to other.

This is pretty seamlessly blended in my opinion/experience. What was new for me was wearing it for over 24 hours... I came home Friday after work, did not take my usual bath or shower, and then remained in my bed until 4:30pm on Saturday. So that's about 30 hours of wear, and it was still going strong when I finally did get into the shower. Damn. It had moved from what I call in my head a "salty, ambergris smell" (could be totally wrong, but that's just what my brain says) to finally getting a hint of rose listed in the notes, and a cola incense. It was still really good. I don't really want to be that unwashed for that long again, or even longer, but I am super curious as to what this would do over an even longer amount of time. This was a pretty immediate love when I smelled it back in... 2017? 2018? 2019? I drained a couple of the brand samples at the time. Finally bought a bottle in 2020, of course didn't wear it after acquiring it (cause it's about the hunt!) but have been trying to wear through my perfume this year. It always makes me feel so cozy. It's a really good smeller! Obviously amazing longevity, and fair projection as well. I let my ex (male) wear this once, and with just one or two sprays I could smell him as we took a cold walk through the overcast and the mist. It is diffuse, I get a mental visual image of golden/brown molecules with dark centers vibing around in a cloud when I smell it. I prefer it on me, a woman, to on a man. I don't know why. Either that, or I just prefer it on myself to on my ex. To me, it's a very special perfume, and I only want to wear it in cool or cold weather. It also feels warm to me. The quality of the salty/ambergris smell is very similar to that in Womanity, the original, by Thierry Mugler. Haven't come across that note/smell elsewhere, but then again, I don't try a lot of perfume with that note listed.

I really like Perris Monte Carlo Ambre Gris; it is a high-quality fragrance with excellent performance. My chief complaint, not unlike many other amber-sandalwood-musk fragrances, is this one comes across as being much more feminine than masculine, and is much better suited for the ladies. Another small peeve is in the name Ambre Gris, which I don't detect nor see listed in the ingredients. I feel that Monte Carlo Ambre Gris is a really great Fall/Winter scent for the ladies, but it is not something I enjoy wearing because, as mentioned, it comes across as being too perfumey with its powdery/floral vibe...but do love smelling it on the ladies. I have three grown daughters and have gone through several bottles since they love borrowing the "girly stuff" from my Scent Armory and never return it. I was recently visiting family out-of-state over the Holidays and discovered my sister in-law had one of my bottles when she asked me where to get another one since she loved it so. I don't know how she got a hold of it (probably one of my daughters or a gal pals forgot it on a visit to see mom) but she can find her own damn bottle. LOL! Performance is a quite stellar in that it lasts 10+ hours and projects very well (above average but not beastly) on my skin. I do love this fragrance for the aforementioned reasons, but I do not feel that it is unisex in any form or fashion. Still, y'all sexy ladies have to give this one a try.

Beautifully rounded powdery fragrance, nothing complicated nevertheless exceptionally beautiful. There seems to be a misunderstanding around the name as it is not about ambergris, the secrete of a whale, but about ambra with the greyness (gris) coming from the artemisia bitterness on the top. I wish that bitterness would stay a bit longer as in the beginning it perfectly balances the sweetness of the perfume. The dry down reminds me of Lorenzo Villoresis Teint de Neige, which I initially found way too overpowering. This perfume is very comforting.

Omg I love this, I can’t stop sniffing my self. This is the most sexiest perfume I have ever smelled. This is vanilla, powdery, caramel, amber and musk. This is sweet, little spicy, warm, creamy and balsamic. The opening it is strong and you can smell a lot of vanilla and amber, but then it blooms into something very sexy, powerful sweet and very sensual, the dry down is soft, warm and comforting (cuddling in the bed). This is more a night perfume bc is like sex in a bottle or a date perfume if you want to be remembered.

Agree that this is the scent of a sexy angel. Not oceanic or salty at all - this is a slightly sweet, powdery vanilla amber with a balsamic vibe that wafts around you like sparkles all day - even after it fades on the skin after a few hours I get surprise wafts reminding me I'm the best smelling person in the room. Unisex, good projection, very potent even with one spray, longevity moderate. I can't believe this isn't more popular? It's DIVINE. Edit: Also amazing to layer with vanillas!

To me this is the most beautiful ambergris scent there is. I saw it being compared to Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens and get the similiarity but where Ambre Sultan is screechy and edgy, Ambre Gris is a very well-rounded, beautiful composition. This is a extremely high performance fragrance that I wouldn't put on too much of and because of it's strength and weight, it does not fit every occasion. But on the right person to the right time this is rich, alluring and seductive.

The best from the Perris line (I’m not a fan of the black bottle range). This is deep, rich and brooding with mysterious ambergris. Ambergris has that power and allure to keep you sniffing again and again. It leans slightly masculine and reminds me of a quality Cuban unlit cigar. This actually gets better and better on the skin as time passes. I need to keep wearing it to see what journey it takes me on, but yes, I like this, yee-ha!

It has an extremely slow enjoyable dry down that fades into a woody type Amber,with a small hint of vanilla giving it the right amount of sweetness. The musk is done very well, and the florals while already sitting in the distance fade deeper and deeper in the background during this time until they are lost. I find it sits somewhat close to the skin after about 12+ hours and very close at 24hrs with trace amounts still present.

This is sensuous ! I actually didnt know it was ambergris... the woman at the perfume store sprayed this on my wrist, and I had to turn the bottle to see what it is. I must be lucky...it is ambergris and not everyone likes ambergris. But last week I loved it and bought a bottle. On other days I am a Gucci woman, but Perris made me put it at the back of my cabinet. I shall be wearing this for awhile. Thank you Perris !

Once I realized this was more of a powdery vanilla than a marine (ambergris?) scent, it clicked for me. I'm wearing it right now in the thick of January, and I feel like it would go perfectly with a dressy night out, pea coat and boots. It's a bit formal, but feminine. It smells like vintage make-up, which I adore.

Really cool powdery amber with lots of depth in it. It gives a nice soft and warming feel with a touch of booziness. It also has a soft animalic edge that smells like a kittens fur or something similar. Really enjoyed this one!

It smells like a clean, fresh crotch. Musky and sexy. I am not trolling or kidding. I think they did a great job. You will love it or hate it and that will say a lot about you.

It's a definite love. It reminds me of that secret sensual something that made me fall in love with Francesca Bianchi's Angel's Dust.

Oh,yum! so sexy!! To be honest I wasn't entirely convinced when I tested this, but I liked it and it was 30% off so I took the plunge. First time I used it I oversprayed. I totally disagree with whoever thinks this is not strong, it is wildly overwhelming if you get too trigger-happy. I can not spray this close to my face, at all, it's just too much and make me sick. With that said, part of why I do love this is that it packs a puch and the longevity is outstanding. This is very sexy and animalic. No one seems to agree, but this litteraly smells like sex to me. The good kind. And I feel sexy wearing it too, like I've found a frag that enhances my own natural scent. One that might attract the male lions of this town? Hah. It smells expensive, mature and a bit royal. It exuberates confidence. Not for the faint of heart. It's ambery, musky and heavy on the labdanum that I love (the sexy note). I don't get much sandalwood, thank god. A bit of rose, a bit of vanilla, but mostly amber resinous-ish goodness. I agree that it's dirty, very dirty. But I am quite innocent and I love that this scent sort of nudges me to be a bit naughty. Maybe that's why this scent triggers something emotional in me. I don't know. But it does, and as of now I can't think of many other perfumes that does this to me. I love this so much. I never in a million years thought ut would grow on me as much as it has. May Even be even signature worthy! Btw, I don't smell anything remotely like black olives or pickled stuff. No sourness on my skin either

My boyfriend says this smells like the top of my head after I use baby powder as dry shampoo. Powdery, sweet, a little greasy, and very sexy (to him lol). I adore it as well. Inviting, alluring and feminine all wrapped up in one, but never unapproachable. Cozy, too, and smells a little like vanilla with a very smooth undercurrent of labdanum without that pungent and savoury opening most ambers have. Ambre Gris is semi-gourmand on me, which is one of my favourite types of scent, and reminds me very much of an amped up, powdery Ambraliquida by L’Erbolario that's slightly dirty, verging on the gentlest of animalics (which, to me, is kitten fur). I always understood amber to be the fantasy note that the combo of vanilla/resins/musk was trying to imitate, whereas ambergris was a totally different scent giving a musky, saline freshness that's skinlike, which is what I found in Mizensir For Your Love. That is the total opposite of PMC Ambre Gris. I think the intention of this fragrance is to smell like amber but... grey? Like the muted and texture of a soft wool shawl. Better for the autumn and winter. Projection is strong enough for people to smell you clearly. Fantastic longevity as well, this stuff lasts forever, especially on clothes. I get obvious wafts of it 8h+ after the initial spray.

I purchased this as a sample from Luckyscent. Initially, I was struck by the powerful opening. So alluring, stimulating, warm and animalic, it smells like.... incredible sex with that paramour you can't get enough of. I was impelled to keep sniffing my wrist. Thoroughly enamoured with this cloud of plush sensuality with a hint of sweetness, I was convinced that I would have to purchase a full bottle. Unfortunately, about 5 hours later, it dried down to an aroma of hot buttered movie theater popcorn. It was nearly nauseating. I blame my particular chemistry, not the perfume or perfume. Fragrances react differently on everyone. It's well worth a try if you're looking for a deeply seductive scent for special occasions/date night. Longevity is excellent.

"Ambre Gris" has a very distinct old fashioned vibe. It opened very heavy with loads of geranium and a very animalic note of amber, while developing it got a "urine" vibe making this even more dirty than before. I get some sweetness at the heart part, mostly from sandalwood and bittersweet labdanum, nevertheless it stays very dirty all the way. The drydown phase is filled with a bit moldy musk note and a very slight hint of vanilla, if I'd have to choose which part of "Ambre Gris" I enjoyed most, it would be drydown - very high quality, smooth, a bit dirty yet sweet and all the way old fashioned. Silage was very heavy and staying power is excellent. Worth a try if you enjoy animalic amber and don't mind smelling a tiny bit dated.

Really nice creamy amber. Starts with a hint of that minty posh note that many really high quality niches tend to have. Not sure why bloom has this as part of the coffee sample pack, and states orris / cloves as an ingredient. (But no coffee) On the website it states that it's a marine scent (strange) but nice smell, gourmand almost. No coffee, orris, or cloves detected. Nor artemisia, I get mostly the bottom of this above pyramid, amber, vanilla, musk, sandalwood. I had the allyssia ashley one, that is very similar but lighter and more citrussy (also I'd say that one is more vintage smelling - probably the floral notes add this vibe) Lots of bloom samples up for swap UK - get in touch!

La pyramide fragrantica est fausse comme souvent... Parfum magnifique , muscé , poudré , vanillé . L'ambre gris est magnifiquement représenté dans cette fragrance , couplé à une legere vanille poudrée, l'ambre gris est present du début à la fin. Il y a aussi de l'iris dans le parfum en note de coeur mais tres difficile à percevoir. En revanche le coté rose et géranium sont bien présent . Il est totalement unisex , les femmes le prefereront tres certainement. La tenue projection et sillage sont moyen , c'est presque un parfum de peau , charnel et sensuel . C'est très beau et bien fait .

This has little to do with Ambergris the product from the digestive tract of whales that has been washed ashore. It simply is a labdanum based resinous interpretation of the fantasy note, "amber", which of course is only a stone and hence odourless. Whilst in itself it is not a bad scent I do find it disappointing to experience a labdanum amber when I was hoping to be expecting salty, animalic and oceanic notes and sweetness. Adding the fact that it's just a Alyssa Ashley with an overinflated price to make it niche doesn't make this a desireable product to me.

Somehow the amber, iris and perhaps the ambergris combine to make a softly suedey perfume, so my first impression is soft suede, then notes of subtle iris, amber, vanilla. It's perfectly unisex, if my hubs wore any kind of cologne I would probably persuade him to wear it, but I'd be equally happy to wear it myself.

Nice perfume with really strong opening which i wasn't able to sustain , so i spray it on my clothes like half an hour before wearing ; The perfume transform to a soft voile of warm romantic velvety wave of amber , musk and sandal. Good thing about this perfume is the price considered affordable .

It opens like sun-soaked stone: hot, dry, perfumed, as if the earth itself were exhaling. A few minutes in, it turns unexpectedly rounded, like the spark when two flints strike. I also smell a thread of resinous-sweetness, benzoin, and a fine, clean veil of powder laid over the mineral core.

This perfume has a vintage feel. and also powdery bomb reminiscent of herocyn powder but it's fun.

This is a challenging fragrance but its strong and i like the smell.

A well done ambery ambre-gris whose salty and bitter nuances give the impression of breathing the cold pond of an Italian espresso. Not easy to wear but it's a nice shade of bitterness, for coffee lovers. Also beautiful mixed with other perfumes, giving them an old time quality. very impressed with the quality of all the perfumes from this brand which have truly found his own style and renewed the solinote genre.

Maybe my expectations were high because I adore the brand, but Ambre Gris is unmemorable on me. There’s nothing here to make me want more. An easy ride with straight forward notes that I find hard to describe nonetheless. A natural scent with a bit of swagger.

Hmmm... definitely rather suited for a man than a woman. It's a smoky (like vetiver, minus the green notes), liquery-sweet, a bit salty, and a little sour. It was interesting to smell it, but... It smells... Pickled. Maybe rather green than black olives. The sour note ruins this perfume for me - it resembles something spoilt... If not the sour note, this would be a fully functional fragrance in my opinion. Worst is: the sour notes lingers for a loooong time. Definitely spray with caution if you're trying this out, because you're likely to regret it. I only have a vial. Do I regret buying it... probably yes, because this will be hidden to never be smelt again - I felt ill for quite some time after smelling this one. This smellt SO much better right from the sprayer than it did on my skin

It really does smell like natural Ambergris tincture in low concentration, but I suspect we've been smelling different versions of this perfume. (gosh, they reformulated it already?) Mind you, the ambergris tincture does NOT smells very flattering , especially not when it's in low concentration. The scent is hard to put to words, but somehow it smells rather... drab , with a vague old-woody hint. I don't get anything animalistic/dirty/dirt-like in the tincture. I'd say in this perfume, the ambergris tincture scent has been backed up by a solid-er resin/balsamic, most likely labdanum, and perhaps also decorated by slightly sweet hints. Unflattering as it sounds, it's probably a very realistic representation of TRUE ambergris , which is hard to come by in perfumes.

I am often cautious when trying a new scent and usually spray once on my wrist before going all out. I forgot my usual habit today when I applied several sprays of Ambre Gris. I quickly regretted it. I was assaulted with sickly sweet powder and a soapy rose. I was also detecting some unpleasant sourness which is possibly the coumarin. My partner had been complaining about a black olive smell in the kitchen. We later discovered that it was me who was sporting 'Eau de black olives' aka Ambre Gris.

Absolute beast. I tried a single drop from a tester and I feel like I've sprayed the entire bottle. Very deep, dark, amber-ish, woody spicy scent that is triggering a slight headache. Overwhelmingly masculine and ancient, in my opinion. It brings to mind a graveyard or tomb with a hot stylish ghoul as the gatekeeper. There is one prominent note, that I can't name, that dominates. Well blended and executed.

Too much labdanum for my taste. The scent is alright, but I just hate the bottles, the way they look and the overall presentation.

Sooo how the actual ¥%#& do you have the grey gloaty whale-stones to make a perfume and call it some deviation of ambergris and have no actual ambergris in it? Getting tired of your BS, Perris! To be fair, this is not a bad scent though. It's chewy and bitter and creamy and a bit...fatty? The vanilla and amber notes dont hit u til the 3-4 hour mark for me where it takes on the barest powdery tone and I really like this scent in the drydown but the first few hours are a bit brutal to my nose, and I'm the guy who wears Interlude Man in the San Diego summer. On my skin it has a slight bile tone hovering in a distant corner between the 30 minute and 2.5 hour mark that is very strange and almost made me scrub it off because this perfume has some surprisingly good projection. Don't let that scare you off. Try some. The final drydown is really something amazing and the performance is a pleasant surprise. Scent: 5/10 until the 3.5-4 hour mark, then a 7.5-8/10 thereafter with vanilla and amber and labdanum stealing the show. Projection: 7/10 for the forst few hours, and by final drydown still a good 5/10 really impressibe for this style. Sillage: 7/10 I accidentally walked back into my own cloud. It does calm down to a 2-3/10 by the final drydown though. Longevity: 5/10 i can get 5 hours of useful wear out of it before iit becomes a skin scent for the next couple hours. Not great but not a deal breaker. Would I buy a full bottle? I'm honestly torn. I think I have to say "no" because the mid doesn't agree with me. The drydown is good enough to my nose that I may suffer through it though. Jury is still out.

It could be either for a man or for a lady, on account if it being very sweet. I can see how if you smelt it up close at concentration it could seem sickly, but it ŵàśñt designed to be smelt at such close quarters. When you get a whiff of this on the wind it is ecstatic. Very beguiling, it smells familiar but very hard to pinpoint why as its quite enigmatic and nothing like any other fragrance you can think of. It smells nothing whatsoever like black olives. I liked this enough to buy a whole bottle, which I haven't worn too often yet but am glad I splurged as this is a great scent to have in my collection. I can occasionally discern labdanum but no other notes stick their head above the parapet. I've had authentic ambergris tincture and for the life of me couldn't smell anything from it so I can't tell you whether this does it doesn't approximate the actual smell if its namesake but the smooth and soft sensation and lingering sweet and sour aspect do ring true. More people should review this scent as it is quite a tricky one to describe!

I think this is absolutely wonderful! It is warm and very sensual. The dry down is spectacular and I love it. I wasn't looking for a new scent, but this one has really turned my head and I think I need to buy a full bottle very soon. It really is a difficult scent to describe. It's amber, but not like any other ambers I have tried. It's soft, powdery and musky, a little spicy. I have loved Opium for many years but have wanted to find another spicy oriental that could replace Opium, and I think this one may be the one. It isn't strong, but it lasts for many many hours on my skin. It does smell expensive and it is a quality frag. I think this is a feminine scent. Get a sample for yourself!

This is more so a second skin type of scent, but this is one of if not the best of this type of category that I’ve smelled.. starts off sort of musky animalic, but it turns into something I can’t even describe, very subtle.. but you get hit at times with the most beautiful, angelic powdery/floral/ambery thing ever. Despite being extremely soft with its projection, I still was able to smell it on me the next morning after my first wear. Don’t go buying into this expecting a large, and structured fragrance, because this is quite the opposite.. this would be what an angel would smell like.. I think this fragrance would work beautifully for a wedding day, or maybe even a funeral honestly.

this is amber gris rendition from perris montecarlo new perfumes brand ,honestly i did expect more from this simply and deja vu aspect i ve found smellin this one ,actually its very similar to alissa ashley amber gris and honestly if you really like this go for the cheaper one ... or montale blue amber is on the same level moreless but more refined and richer imho 6/10

Sensual, intense, dense and slightly dry (especially in the sharp opening), very very close to natural ambergris scent. I had a chance to sniff the real deal and this is it, the accord is almost on point after it sets up a bit.

This scent is so gorgeous! it is a little bit simple but so smooth and natural smelling. It is sexy, alluring, one of the nicest amber and musk notes ever! I need a full bottle of this. Maybe a backup bottle too...

Just bought it last week. Not what I was expecting all due to all the reviews. It’s a complete powder bomb on me! To the point that it’s feminine. Sadly a no-go for me. Still an amazing house though!

This is beautiful! The drydown lasts hours upon hours and is just delicious amber, labdanum and vanilla. I also have Ambre Gris by Balmain but I like this one better and it doesn't turn sour on me.

Rain on tea leaves, an embroidery marking a path to escape. I turn over my hourglass and look out at a French garden long since overgrown. Time is in our favor.
