Lavande Romaine

This is an unusual fragrance. Is it reminiscent of celery? Kind of. I’m gonna go ahead and assume that is cassis leaves. I believe this skews a little masculine. But definitely unisex There’s something fresh about it that I find irresistible. I do love some lavender and cedar This is so green and herbal. This is certainly not for everyone. But whether you like it or not, this is a masterpiece Summer garden realism. So well blended, just simple and beautiful. Refreshing. I cannot imagine why anyone would say this smells synthetic when it is exactly the opposite. I didn’t think I would, but I keep finding myself reaching for it. It seems perfect for August to me.

it's a beautiful, sugared lavender without the sharp edges, completely unisex. I love the combination with cassis - it's juicy and gives it an interesting twist. Extremely photorealistic and clean - I am genuinly shocked someone could find it synthetic smelling My only compliant is longevity, it's rather weak and even on a paper strip tester disappears rather quickly. Especially the lavender note which I find gorgeous is too fleeting to my taste. Maybe it's me-problem, maybe I become nose blind to that note quickly, because I have the same issue with an equally beautiful lavender in Le Passant from Ormaie

Aquatic-celery-lavender. Sitting in your elder's garden.

I'm one of those fragrance collectors with little interest in prominent lavender notes in perfume; lavender is destined for the herb garden, and maybe the laundry, but not fine fragrance. Over the years, I've tried to find a fragrance with a prominent lavender note to fill a gap in my collection, but, alas, Mon Guerlain and Libre were not for me. I did, however, enjoy Bojnokopff by F&M and maybe a couple others, but nothing enticed me to buy a full bottle. So, when I received my Perris sample set in the mail, I was least excited to try Lavande Romaine. When I finally got around to trying it, I was pleasantly surprised, given that it turned out to be my favorite lavender fragrance and one of the best from the sample set. Lavande Romaine is the Terre d'Hermes of lavender. J-C Ellena's signature is all over this minimal composition. His treatment of lavender is similar (in concept) to his treatment of vetiver. The harsher elements have been removed and blended into a smooth, dry sweetness. Think of lavender--coated with crystalized sugar--in a field, surrounded by greenery, soaking up the midday sun. I never imagined that lavender could smell this good. 4.5/5 Edit: Performance is rather poor with most of the initial magic lost after 1 hour.

This fragrance is one of the Les Parfums de Grasse collection. Grasse is the capital of perfumery in France, and it's famous for its flower fields, especially lavender. When JCE is the perfumer, and the quality we know from the Perris brand, you would expect something very special. Unlike some of the previous comments, this fragrance is not synthetic but rather very natural. It's around the lavender note, so it's a lavender and very lavender fragrance! Lavender is the main ingredient in masculine fragrances. And this fragrance is an aromatic fougere. What Elena did here is to bring all the facets of the lavender to the stage. Lavender is herbal, aromatic, and green, as you can see in this fragrance. I got a hint of light floral, fruity, and sweetness. This removes the aromatic sharpness of lavender essential oil, softens the edges, and makes it more polite and nice! In the dry-down, it becomes more and more rounded on a musky base. I like this fragrance a lot but too lavendery to use as a signature scent or take it as an everyday type of fragrance. Lavender has a calming, relaxing effect. If you are looking for such a fragrance, this could be a good option. 7.5/10

I really, really like black current leaf in a summer fragrance. It’s so deliciously refreshing, tart and energetic. To pair it with lavender is a very clever idea, and in LR it works out wonderfully. The perfume opens on a very natural lavender note, nice and round (no unpleasant sharpness), but given a real kick by the black current leaf. I also smell some jasmine in there, though it is not mentioned in the notes. Quickly, the lavender fades to the background for the black current to take over, making this a very refreshing green(ish) scent, with a distinct bite and a suave undertone. As a perfume, Lavande Romaine is very light and quite fleeting. It makes a decadent and very intriguing eau de cologne; if I were to buy a bottle that’s how I would like to use it. Excellent for summer! PS: for another fabulous lavender by Jean-Claude Ellena, try his Brin de Reglisse for Hermes......Good lord, it’s one of the best fragrances ever!!

I recently purchased Lavande Romaine by Perris Monte Carlo, and I have to say, the addition of blackcurrant leaves, made it a real winner for me! The scent is truly intoxicating; it has a rich floral aroma, with hints of mint and juniper (what I suspect smells like menthol for some), followed by the added sweetness of the black currant. This particular scent is ideal for both the day or evening; its light and airy, with a certain delicate sensibility. I found it to be very calming and soothing, no matter what kind of day I had. I highly recommend Lavande Romaine for anyone looking to add a subtle, captivating scent to their wardrobe.

It is light and pleasant. It is surely a beautiful lavender scent but it lacks something when I spray on myself. I get a hint of the smell of cardboard in the undertone (not in a bad way), may be it is because of the black currant leaf and cedar. With those notes I expected weak performance and it does become a skin scent after 1 hour even I usually do 8 sprays. I now treat it as an aroma spray and use it on my bags and clothes more than as a fragrance.

This is a pair of lavender and black currant. The first blast is fresh lavender with green menthol-like blackcurrant leaves. The fragrance is not sweet at all. After some time, black currant dominates, there is almost no lavender, only fresh, fruity and aromatic black currant.

Good blast of lavender at the opening. Then the fruity black currant leaf comes it and it bascicaly a fruity scent. I would have prefered a stronger lavender.

Mountain and Synthetic Air, paul klee ,1930

For me the opening has a menthol quality that I didn't like. It mellows out very quickly into a musky cedar with a hint of lavender. This one is pretty short lived - it's gone in 2-3 hours. I like it, but I don't love it - it's a little boring in my opinion.

I wanted to like this; and the simplistic note breakdown seemed promising. But it's a celebration of the mundane. The cassis/currant leaves were nothing special and the French lavender used in this was OK at best. The truth is that this could be Lavandin, but I say it's French because it's the only varietal of lavender that does well in my garden and I think it's what I smell here. I don't hate this fragrance, but I'd rather keep this scent in the garden where it belongs and not on myself.

Very lovely opening of cassis and lavender, kind of like "L'Ombre dans l'Eau + lavender - rose". Sadly once again in the typical JCE style, in half an hour the whole thing cripples and reverts to the usual JCE nondescript boring shapelessness. Basically scentless in two or three hours.

Very pleasant on card and straight up celery on my skin. Strange!

Dark green blackcurrant leaf (wrapped around a lavender bud). For me this is too simplistic and black currant leaf-y in the long run. In fact something about it makes me nauseous. It smells like having to try to survive in the wild by eating random leaves from bushes. That's how it makes me feel. Feels bad. Weird. I'm sorry, but not for me.

An unpleasant and synthetic fragrance.

This is a paradise for relaxation, a lavender field swayed by the wind. It smells of lavender and currant leaves, which add sweetness and greeness to the composition, surrounding the lavender beautifully. I really love it. It's clean, ethereal, embracing, simple in the best sense of the word. On me it has a moderate sillage and lasts 5-6 hours. How much I wish it lasted a little longer... Although I like wearing it to sleep, I really feel it is perfect to wear on calm spring mornings when going for a walk in the countryside. An absolute beauty of a perfume courtesy of @Mithrandir. Cassis overload, slightly camphoraceous, loud, and obnoxious. Lavender comes later but is kind of shy. Cedar and musk? I guess they are there, in a soft background. I don't really like this scent. I don't feel it's pleasant, it is too green, too much cassis.
